Abstract:The research deals with the studies of the velocity fields of non-equilibrium fluid filtration in a layer under harmonic action on it and assessment of the influence of relaxation effects on the attenuation of the amplitude of the initial disturbance. A mathematical model of non-equilibrium plane-radial filtration with a generalized dynamic Darcy law in the form of a boundary value problem in a half-space with a harmonic excitation law at its boundary is considered. Based on the exact and asymptotic solutions of the boundary value problem, the attenuation of the amplitude of the initial disturbance from the model's parameters and their influence on the size of the disturbed area is investigated. Profiles of the dependencies of the size of the influence zone on the model parameters were plotted and the choice of parameters for optimal influence on the near-wellbore zone is analyzed.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper mainly discusses the variation of velocity field during the non-equilibrium fluid filtration process under the action of harmonics in a semi-infinite layer, and the influence of relaxation effect on the attenuation of initial disturbance amplitude. The study used mathematical modeling to consider a non-equilibrium planar radial filtration model with a generalized dynamic Darcy's law, and analyzed the influence of parameters on the size of the disturbance region through exact solutions of boundary value problems.
In the research method, the authors established a mathematical model of microfluidic flow considering the relaxation effect and applied harmonic excitation on the boundary of the half-space. The solutions were constructed by separation of variables and asymptotic analysis was performed for large parameter values to study the attenuation of velocity field fluctuation under different frequencies, layer's piezoelectric conductivity, and relaxation time.
The paper found that for harmonic disturbances within a certain frequency range, the presence of relaxation mechanism enables the disturbance to penetrate a longer distance into the reservoir, while at high frequencies, relaxation contributes to a greater degree of disturbance attenuation. The paper also plotted the relationship between the size of the affected region and model parameters, and analyzed the selection of optimal parameters for the affected bottomhole area.
The originality of the research lies in demonstrating, based on the non-equilibrium filtration model, that under specific conditions, harmonic disturbances applied on the boundary can propagate further compared to equilibrium filtration processes. However, when the frequency increases to a certain level, relaxation enhances disturbance attenuation.
The results of this study have practical significance for studying the impact of wave disturbances on reservoirs to enhance filtration processes and developing new wave technologies to improve mineral resource extraction efficiency. The paper reviewed relevant literature and emphasized the importance of understanding the physical processes and phenomena of wave action on saturated porous media and its influence on fluid flow properties for optimizing wave action methods and enhancing oil recovery potential.
In summary, the paper aims to address how to utilize wave action on reservoirs, especially considering the relaxation effect, to optimize the frequency selection of disturbances in order to maximize the impact on the bottomhole area and improve filtration efficiency.
