Abstract:The Anantharam-Jog-Nair inequality [AJN22] in Information Theory provides a unifying approach to the information-theoretic form of the Brascamp-Lieb inequality [CCE09] and the Entropy Power inequality [ZF93]. In this paper, we use methods from Quiver Invariant Theory [CD21] to study Anantharam-Jog-Nair inequalities with integral exponents. For such an inequality, we first view its input datum as a quiver datum and show that the best constant that occurs in the Anantharam-Jog-Nair inequality is of the form $-{1\over 2}\log (\mathbf{cap}(V,\sigma))$ where $\mathbf{cap}(V, \sigma)$ is the capacity of a quiver datum $(V, \sigma)$ of a complete bipartite quiver. The general tools developed in [CD21], when applied to complete bipartite quivers, yield necessary and sufficient conditions for: (1) the finiteness of the Anantharam-Jog-Nair best constants; and (2) the existence of Gaussian extremizers. These results recover some of the main results in [AJN22] and [ACZ22]. In addition, we characterize gaussian-extremizable data in terms of semi-simple data, and provide a general character formula for the Anatharam-Jog-Nair constants. Furthermore, our quiver invariant theoretic methods lead to necessary and sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of Gaussian extremizers. This answers the third and last question left unanswered in [AJN22].

Abstract:We compare and generalise the various geometric constructions (due to Ringel, Lusztig, Schofield, Bozec, Davison...) of the unipotent generalised Kac–Moody algebra associated with an arbitrary quiver. These constructions are interconnected through several geometric operations, including the stalk Euler characteristic of constructible complexes, the characteristic cycle, the Euler obstruction map, and the intersection multiplicities of Lagrangian subvarieties. We provide a proof that these geometric realisations hold for the integral form of the Lie algebra. Furthermore, by modifying the generators of the enveloping algebra, we ensure compatibility with the natural coproducts that can be defined in terms of restriction diagrams. As a result, we establish that the top cohomological Hall algebra of the strictly seminilpotent stack is isomorphic to the positive part of the enveloping algebra of the generalised Kac-Moody algebra associated with the quiver. This appears to be one of the cornerstones needed to describe the BPS algebra of very general 2-Calabi–Yau categories, which is the subject of the author's work on BPS Lie algebras for 2-Calabi–Yau categories with Davison and Schlegel Mejia.

Abstract:We establish a structure theorem for the Brascamp--Lieb constant formulated in the general setting of locally compact abelian groups. This extends and unifies the finiteness characterisations previously known for euclidean spaces and for finitely generated groups and their duals. We place particular emphasis on Fourier invariance throughout, reflecting the fundamental Fourier invariance of Brascamp--Lieb multilinear forms in this context.

Quiver algebras and their representations for arbitrary quivers

Abstract:The quiver Yangians were originally defined for the quiver and superpotential from string theory on general toric Calabi-Yau threefolds, and serve as BPS algebras of these systems. Their characters reproduce the unrefined BPS indices, which correspond to classical Donaldson-Thomas (DT) invariants. We generalize this construction in two directions. First, we show that this definition extends to arbitrary quivers with potentials. Second, we explain how to define the characters to incorporate the refined BPS indices, which correspond to motivic DT invariants. We focus on two main classes of quivers: the BPS quivers of 4D $N=2$ theories and the quivers from the knot-quiver correspondence. The entire construction allows for straightforward generalizations to trigonometric, elliptic, and generalized cohomologies.

Universal Virasoro constraints for quivers with relations

Abstract:Following our reformulation of sheaf-theoretic Virasoro constraints with applications to curves and surfaces joint with Lim-Moreira, I describe in the present work the quiver analog. After phrasing a universal approach to Virasoro constraints for moduli of quiver-representations, I prove them for any finite quiver with relations, with frozen vertices, but without cycles. I use partial flag varieties which are special cases of moduli spaces of framed representations as a guiding example throughout. These results are applied to give an independent proof of Virasoro constraints for all Gieseker semistable sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$ and $\mathbb{P}^1 \times \mathbb{P}^1$ by using derived equivalences to quivers with relations. Combined with an existing universality argument for Virasoro constraints on Hilbert schemes of points on surfaces, this leads to the proof of this rank 1 case for any $S$ which is independent of the previous results in Gromov-Witten theory.

Abstract:To any finite group G in SL_2(C), and each `t' in the center of the group algebra of G, we associate a category, Coh_t. It is defined as a suitable quotient of the category of graded modules over (a graded version of) the deformed preprojective algebra introduced by Crawley-Boevey and Holland. The category Coh_t should be thought of as the category of coherent sheaves on a `noncommutative projective 2-space', equipped with a framing at the line at infinity. Our first result establishes an isomorphism between the moduli space of torsion free objects of Coh_t and the Nakajima quiver variety arising from G via the McKay correspodence. We apply the above isomorphism to deduce generalized Crawley-Boevey & Holland conjecture, saying that the moduli space of `rank 1' projective modules over the deformed preprojective algebra is isomorphic to a particular quiver variety. This reduces, for G=1, to the recently obtained parametrisation of the isomorphism classes of right ideals in the first Weyl algebra, A_1, by points of the Calogero-Moser space, due to Cannings-Holland and Berest-Wilson. Our approach is algebraic and is based on a monadic description of torsion free sheaves on the noncommutative projective 2-space. It is totally different from the one used by Berest-Wilson, involving $\tau$-functions.

Moduli of Representations I. Projections from Quivers

Abstract:We use categorical method and birational geometry to study moduli spaces of quiver representations. From certain "representable" functor, we construct a birational transformation from the moduli space of representations of one quiver to another new quiver with one vertex less. The dimension vector and the stability for the new moduli are determined functorially. We introduce several relative notions of stability to study such a birational transformation. The essential case is proven to be the usual blow-ups. Moreover, we compare the induced ample divisors for the two moduli. We illustrate this theory by various examples.

Abstract:This paper presents a geometric model of the Auslander–Reiten quiver of a type A quiver together with a stability function for which all indecomposable modules are stable. We also introduce a new Catalan object which we call a maximal almost rigid representation. We show that its endomorphism algebra is a tilted algebra of type A. We define a partial order on the set of maximal almost rigid representations and use our new geometric model to show that this partial order is a Cambrian lattice.

Abstract:A quiver representation assigns a vector space to each vertex, and a linear map to each arrow. When one considers the category $\textrm{Vect}(\mathbb{F}_1)$ of vector spaces ``over $\mathbb{F}_1$'' (the field with one element), one obtains $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of a quiver. In this paper, we study representations of a quiver over the field with one element in connection to coefficient quivers. To be precise, we prove that the category $\textrm{Rep}(Q,\mathbb{F}_1)$ is equivalent to the (suitably defined) category of coefficient quivers over $Q$. This provides a conceptual way to see Euler characteristics of a class of quiver Grassmannians as the number of ``$\mathbb{F}_1$-rational points'' of quiver Grassmannians. We generalize techniques originally developed for string and band modules to compute the Euler characteristics of quiver Grassmannians associated to $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations. These techniques apply to a large class of $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations, which we call the $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations with finite nice length: we prove sufficient conditions for an $\mathbb{F}_1$-representation to have finite nice length, and classify such representations for certain families of quivers. Finally, we explore the Hall algebras associated to $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of quivers. We answer the question of how a change in orientation affects the Hall algebra of nilpotent $\mathbb{F}_1$-representations of a quiver with bounded representation type. We also discuss Hall algebras associated to representations with finite nice length, and compute them for certain families of quivers.

Abstract:We introduce a generalization of representations of quivers that contains also representations of posets, vectorspace problems and other matrix problems. Many examples, some of which are given in the paper, show that the language of marked quivers is rather convenient and that the notion of their representations can probably be considered as basic for a general theory of matrix problems. Some historical comments from my personal point of view are added in the Appendix.

Abstract:The well-known Loday-Quillen-Tsygan theorem calculates the Lie algebra homology of the infinite general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(A)$ over an unital associative algebra $A$. We generalize the Loday-Quillen-Tsygan theorem to an infinite Lie algebra associated with a (framed) quiver, where we assign to each vertex $v$ an infinite general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}(A_v)$, to each edge $e$ an infinite matrix module and to each framed vertex a (anti)-fundamental representation. Given this data, each loop or path ending on framed vertices of the quiver defined a stratified factorization algebra over $S^1$ or $[0,1]$ respectively. We show that the corresponding Lie algebra homology can be expressed as summing the factorization homology over all loops and framed paths of the quiver.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to clarify the connection between certain structures from the theory of totally nonnegative Grassmannians, quiver Grassmannians for cyclic quivers and the theory of local models of Shimura varieties. More precisely, we generalize the construction from our previous paper relating the combinatorics and geometry of quiver Grassmannians to that of the totally nonnegative Grassmannians. The varieties we are interested in serve as realizations of local models of Shimura varieties. We exploit quiver representation techniques to study the quiver Grassmannians of interest and, in particular, to describe explicitly embeddings into affine flag varieties which allow us to realize our quiver Grassmannians as a union of Schubert varieties therein.

Counting representations of quivers with multiplicities

Abstract:In this thesis, we study counts of quiver representations over finite rings of truncated power series. We prove a plethystic formula relating counts of quiver representations over these rings and counts of jets on fibres of quiver moment maps. This solves a conjecture of Wyss and allows us to compute both counts on additional examples, using local zeta functions. The relation between counts of representations and counts of jets generalises the relation between Kac polynomials and counts of points on preprojective stacks. Pursuing this analogy, we establish further properties of our counts. We show that, for totally negative quivers, counts of jets converge to p-adic integrals on fibres of quiver moment maps. One expects a relation between these p-adic integrals and BPS invariants of preprojective algebras i.e. Kac polynomials. For small rank vectors, we also prove that the polynomials counting indecomposable quiver representations over finite rings have non-negative coefficients. Moreover, we show that jet schemes of fibres of quiver moment maps are cohomologically pure in that setting, so that their Poincaré polynomials are given by the former counts. This is reminiscent of the structure of cohomological Hall algebras, which are built from the cohomology of preprojective stacks. Finally, we compute the cohomology of jet spaces of preprojective stacks explicitly for the A2 quiver. Building on the structure of the preprojective cohomological Hall algebra of A2, we propose a candidate analogue of the BPS Lie algebra and conjecture the existence of a Hall product on the cohomology of these jet spaces.

Abstract:In [Tame_quivers_and_affine_bases_I], we give a Ringel-Hall algebra approach to the canonical bases in the symmetric affine cases. In this paper, we extend the results to general symmetrizable affine cases by using Ringel-Hall algebras of representations of a valued quiver. We obtain a bar-invariant basis $\mathbf{B}'=\{C(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)|(\mathbf{c},t_\lambda)\in\mathcal{G}^a\}$ in the generic composition algebra $\mathcal{C}^*$ and prove that $\mathcal{B}'=\mathbf{B}'\sqcup(-\mathbf{B}')$ coincides with Lusztig's signed canonical basis $\mathcal{B}$. Moreover, in type $\tilde{B}_n,\tilde{C}_n$, $\mathbf{B}'$ is the canonical basis $\mathbf{B}$.

The Brascamp-Lieb inequality in Convex Geometry and in the Theory of Algorithms

Abstract:The Brascamp-Lieb inequality in harmonic analysis was proved by Brascamp and Lieb in the rank one case in 1976, and by Lieb in 1990. It says that in a certain inequality, the optimal constant can be determined by checking the inequality for centered Gaussian distributions. It was Keith M Ball's pioneering work around 1990 that led to various applications of the inequality in Convex Geometry, and even in Discrete Geometry, like Brazitikos' quantitative fractional version of the Helly Theorem. On the other hand, determining the optimal constant and possible Gaussian extremizers for the Brascamp-Lieb inequality can be formulated as a problem in terms of positive definite matrices, and this problem has intimate links to the Theory of Algorithms.

A geometric realization for maximal almost pre-rigid representations over type $\mathbb{D}$ quivers

Abstract:We focus on a class of special representations over a type $\mathbb{D}$ quiver $Q_{D}$ with $n$ vertices and directional symmetry, namely, maximal almost pre-rigid representations. By using the equivariant theory of group actions, we give a geometric model for the category of finite dimensional representations over $Q_{D}$ via centrally-symmetric polygon $P(Q_{D})$ with a puncture, and show that the dimension of extension group between indecomposable representations can be interpreted as the crossing number on $P(Q_{D})$. Furthermore, we provide a geometric realization for maximal almost pre-rigid representations over $Q_{D}$. As applications, we prove that each maximal almost pre-rigid representation will determine two or four tilting objects over the path algebra $\Bbbk Q_{\overline{D}}$, where $Q_{\overline{D}}$ is a quiver obtained by adding $n-2$ new vertices and $n-2$ arrows to the quiver $Q_{D}$, and we obtain a representation-theoretic interpretation of the type-$\mathbb{B}$ Cambrian lattices.

On trilinear singular Brascamp-Lieb integrals

Abstract:We classify all trilinear singular Brascamp-Lieb forms, completing the classification in the two dimensional case by Demeter and Thiele in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0803.1268" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0803.1268">arXiv:0803.1268</a>. We use known results in the representation theory of finite dimensional algebras, namely the classification of indecomposable representations of the four subspace quiver. Our classification lays out a roadmap for achieving bounds for all degenerate higher dimensional bilinear Hilbert transforms. As another step towards this goal, we prove new bounds for a particular class of forms that arises as a natural next candidate from our classification. We further prove conditional bounds for forms associated with mutually related representations. For this purpose we develop a method of rotations that allows us to decompose any homogeneous $d$-dimensional singular integral kernel into $(d-1)$-dimensional kernels on hyperplanes.

The Le Bruyn-Procesi theorem and Hilbert schemes

Abstract:For any quiver $Q$ and dimension vector $v$, Le Bruyn--Procesi proved that the invariant ring for the action of the change of basis group on the space of representations $\textrm{Rep}(Q,v)$ is generated by the traces of matrix products associated to cycles in the quiver. We generalise this to allow for vertices where the group acts trivially, and we give relations between the generators of the invariant algebra for quivers with relations. As a geometric application, we prove for $n\geq 1$ that the Hilbert scheme of $n$-points on an ADE surface singularity is isomorphic to a Nakajima quiver variety. This allows us to generalise the well known theorem of [Fogarty] by showing that the Hilbert scheme of $n$-points on a normal surface with canonical singularities is a normal variety of dimension $2n$ with canonical singularities. In addition, we show that if $S$ has symplecic singularities over $\mathbb{C}$, then so does the Hilbert scheme of $n$-points on $S$, thereby generalising a result of Beauville.
