Abstract:We prove that the Schubert structure constants of the quantum K-theory rings of symplectic Grassmannians of lines have signs that alternate with codimension and vanish for degrees at least 3. We also give closed formulas that characterize the multiplicative structure of these rings, including the Seidel representation and a Chevalley formula.

Abstract:We provide a direct proof of Seidel representation in the quantum K-theory QK(Gr(k, n)) by studying projected Gromov-Witten varieties concretely. As applications, we give an alternative proof of the K-theoretic quantum Pieri rule by Buch and Mihalcea, reduce certain quantum Schubert structure constants of higher degree to classical Littlewood-Richardson coefficients for K(Gr(k, n)), and provide a quantum Littlewood-Richardson rule for QK(Gr(3, n)).

Abstract:We prove that the Schubert structure constants of the quantum $K$-theory ring of any minuscule flag variety or quadric hypersurface have signs that alternate with codimension. We also prove that the powers of the deformation parameter $q$ that occur in the product of two Schubert classes in the quantum cohomology or quantum $K$-theory ring of a cominuscule flag variety form an integer interval. Our proofs are based on several new results, including an explicit description of the most general non-empty intersection of two Schubert varieties in an arbitrary flag manifold, and a computation of the cohomology groups of any negative line bundle restricted to a Richardson variety in a cominuscule flag variety. We also give a type-uniform proof of the quantum-to-classical theorem, which asserts that the (3-point, genus 0) Gromov-Witten invariants of any cominuscule flag variety are classical triple-intersection numbers on an associated flag variety. Finally, we prove several new results about the geometry and combinatorics related to this theorem.

Abstract:We derive a $K$-theoretic analogue of the Vafa--Intriligator formula, computing the (virtual) Euler characteristics of vector bundles over the Quot scheme that compactifies the space of degree $d$ morphisms from a fixed projective curve to the Grassmannian $\mathrm{Gr}(r,N)$. As an application, we deduce interesting vanishing results, used in Part I (<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2406.12191" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2406.12191">arXiv:2406.12191</a>) to study the quantum $K$-ring of $\mathrm{Gr}(r,N)$. In the genus-zero case, we prove a simplified formula involving Schur functions, consistent with the Borel-Weil-Bott theorem in the degree-zero setting. These new formulas offer a novel approach for computing the structure constants of quantum $K$-products.

Abstract:Let $\mbox{IG}:=\mbox{IG}(2,2n+1)$ denote the odd symplectic Grassmannian of lines which is a horospherical variety of Picard rank 1. The quantum cohomology ring $\mbox{QH}^*(\mbox{IG})$ has negative structure constants. For $n \geq 3$, we give a positivity condition that implies the quantum cohomology ring $\mbox{QH}^*(\mbox{IG})$ is the only quantum deformation of the cohomology ring $\mbox{H}^*(\mbox{IG})$ up to the scaling of the quantum parameter. This is a modification of a conjecture by Fulton.

Abstract:In this paper we discuss physical derivations of the quantum K theory rings of symplectic Grassmannians. We compare to standard presentations in terms of Schubert cycles, but most of our work revolves around a proposed description in terms of two other bases, involving shifted Wilson lines and lambda_y classes, which are motivated by and amenable to physics, and which we also provide for ordinary Grassmannians.

Abstract:We prove a collection of formulas for products of Schubert classes in the quantum $K$-theory ring $QK(X)$ of a cominuscule flag variety $X$. This includes a $K$-theory version of the Seidel representation, stating that the quantum product of a Seidel class with an arbitrary Schubert class is equal to a single Schubert class times a power of the deformation parameter $q$. We also prove new Pieri formulas for the quantum $K$-theory of maximal orthogonal Grassmannians and Lagrangian Grassmannians, and give a new proof of the known Pieri formula for the quantum $K$-theory of Grassmannians of type A. Our formulas have simple statements in terms of quantum shapes that represent the natural basis elements $q^d[{\mathcal O}_{X^u}]$ of $QK(X)$. Along the way we give a simple formula for $K$-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants of Pieri type for Lagrangian Grassmannians, and prove a rationality result for the points in a Richardson variety in a symplectic Grassmannian that are perpendicular to a point in projective space.

Abstract:We study the virtual Euler characteristics of sheaves over Quot schemes of curves, establishing that these invariants fit into a topological quantum field theory (TQFT) valued in $\mathbb{Z}[[q]]$. Utilizing Quot scheme compactifications alongside the TQFT framework, we derive presentations of the small quantum $K$-ring of the Grassmannian. Our approach offers a new method for finding explicit formulas for quantum $K$-invariants.

Abstract:We revisit the 3d GLSM computation of the equivariant quantum K-theory ring of the complex Grassmannian from the perspective of line defects. The 3d GLSM onto $X={\rm Gr}(N_c, n_f)$ is a circle compactification of the 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric gauge theory with gauge group $U(N_c)_{k, k+l N_c}$ and $n_f$ fundamental chiral multiplets, for any choice of the Chern-Simons levels $(k,l)$ in the `geometric window'. For $k=N_c-\frac{n_f}{2}$ and $l=-1$, the twisted chiral ring generated by the half-BPS lines wrapping the circle has been previously identified with the quantum K-theory ring QK$_T(X)$. We identify new half-BPS line defects in the UV gauge theory, dubbed Grothendieck lines, which flow to the structure sheaves of the (equivariant) Schubert varieties of $X$. They are defined by coupling $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric gauged quantum mechanics of quiver type to the 3d GLSM. We explicitly show that the 1d Witten index of the defect worldline reproduces the Chern characters for the Schubert classes, which are written in terms of double Grothendieck polynomials. This gives us a physical realisation of the Schubert-class basis for QK$_T(X)$. We then use 3d $A$-model techniques to explicitly compute QK$_T(X)$ as well as other K-theoretic enumerative invariants such as the topological metric. We also consider the 2d/0d limit of our 3d/1d construction, which gives us local defects in the 2d GLSM, the Schubert defects, that realise equivariant quantum cohomology classes.

Abstract:We prove a `Whitney' presentation, and a `Coulomb branch' presentation, for the torus equivariant quantum K theory of the Grassmann manifold $\mathrm{Gr}(k;n)$, inspired from physics, and stated in an earlier paper. The first presentation is obtained by quantum deforming the product of the Hirzebruch $\lambda_y$ classes of the tautological bundles. In physics, the $\lambda_y$ classes arise as certain Wilson line operators. The second presentation is obtained from the Coulomb branch equations involving the partial derivatives of a twisted superpotential from supersymmetric gauge theory. This is closest to a presentation obtained by Gorbounov and Korff, utilizing integrable systems techniques. Algebraically, we relate the Coulomb and Whitney presentations utilizing transition matrices from the (equivariant) Grothendieck polynomials to the (equivariant) complete homogeneous symmetric polynomials. Along the way, we calculate K-theoretic Gromov-Witten invariants of wedge powers of the tautological bundles on $\mathrm{Gr}(k;n)$, using the `quantum=classical' statement.

Abstract:We derive cancellation-free Chevalley-type multiplication formulas for the T-equivariant quantum K-theory ring of Grassmannians of type A and C, and also those of two-step flag manifolds of type A. They are obtained based on the uniform Chevalley formula in the T-equivariant quantum K-theory ring of arbitrary flag manifolds G / B , which was derived earlier in terms of the quantum alcove model, by the last three authors.

Abstract:We study the PI degree of various quantum algebras at roots of unity, including quantum Grassmannians, quantum Schubert varieties, partition subalgebras, and their associated quantum affine spaces. By a theorem of De Concini and Procesi, the PI degree of partition subalgebras and their associated quantum affine spaces is controlled by skew-symmetric integral matrices associated to (Cauchon-Le) diagrams. We prove that the invariant factors of these matrices are always powers of 2. This allows us to compute explicitly the PI degree of partition subalgebras. Our results also apply to certain completely prime (homogeneous) quotients of partition subalgebras. In particular, our results allow us to extend results of Jakobsen and Jondrup regarding the PI degree of quantum determinantal rings at roots of unity [JJ01] and we present a method to construct an irreducible representation of maximal dimension for quantum determinantal ideals. Building on these results, we use the strong connection between partition subalgebras and quantum Schubert varieties through noncommutative dehomogenisation [LR08] to obtain expressions for the PI degree of quantum Schubert varieties. In particular, we compute the PI degree of quantum Grassmannians.

Abstract:We give a purely geometric explanation of the coincidence between the Coulomb Branch equations for the 3D GLSM describing the quantum $K$-theory of a flag variety, and the Bethe Ansatz equations of the 5-vertex lattice model. In doing so, we prove an explicit presentation for the quantum $K$-ring of the flag variety, resolving a conjecture of Gu-Sharpe-Mihalcea-Xu-Zhang-Zou. We also prove that the stable map and quasimap $K$-theory of the partial flag varieties are isomorphic, using the work of Koroteev-Pushkar-Smirnov-Zeitlin describing the latter ring in terms of the Bethe Ansatz equations. Our isomorphism gives a more explicit description of the quantum tautological bundles described in the quasimap ring.

Abstract:We develop a $\mathtt{q}$-analogue of the theory of conjugation equivariant $\mathcal D$-modules on a complex reductive group $G$. In particular, we define quantum Hotta-Kashiwara modules and compute their endomorphism algebras. We use the Schur-Weyl functor of the second author, and develop tools from the corresponding double affine Hecke algebra to study this category in the cases $G=GL_N$ and $SL_N$. Our results also have an interpretation in skein theory (explored further in a sequel paper), namely a computation of the $GL_N$ and $SL_N$-skein algebra of the 2-torus.

Abstract:Any four-dimensional Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theory with eight supercharges can be associated to a certain complex symplectic manifold called the "K-theoretic Coulomb branch" of the theory. The collection of K-theoretic Coulomb branches include many complex phase spaces of great interest, including in particular the "character varieties" of complex flat connections on a Riemann surface. The SQFT definition endows K-theoretic Coulomb branches with a variety of canonical structures, including a deformation quantization. In this paper we introduce a canonical "Schur" quantization of K-theoretic Coulomb branches. It is defined by a variant of the Gelfand-Naimark-Segal construction, applied to protected Schur correlation functions of half-BPS line defects. Schur quantization produces an actual quantization of the complex phase space. As a concrete application, we apply this construction to character varieties in order to quantize Chern-Simons gauge theory with a complex gauge group. Other applications include the definition of a new quantum deformation of the Lorentz group, and the solution of certain spectral problems via dualities.

Quantum K-invariants and Gopakumar-Vafa invariants II. Calabi-Yau threefolds at genus zero

Abstract:This is the second part of our ongoing project on the relations between Gopakumar-Vafa BPS invariants (GV) and quantum K-theory (QK) on the Calabi--Yau threefolds (CY3). We show that on CY3 a genus zero quantum K-invariant can be written as a linear combination of a finite number of Gopakumar--Vafa invariants with coefficients from an explicit ``multiple cover formula''. Conversely, GV can be determined by QK in a similar manner. The technical heart is a proof of a remarkable conjecture by Hans Jockers and Peter Mayr. This result is consistent with the ``virtual Clemens conjecture'' for the Calabi--Yau threefolds. A heuristic derivation of the relation between QK and GV via the virtual Clemens conjecture and the multiple cover formula is also given.

Abstract:In this paper we use three-dimensional gauged linear sigma models to make physical predictions for Whitney-type presentations of equivariant quantum K theory rings of partial flag manifolds, as quantum products of universal subbundles and various ratios, extending previous work for Grassmannians. Physically, these arise as OPEs of Wilson lines for certain Chern-Simons levels. We also include a simplified method for computing Chern-Simons levels pertinent to standard quantum K theory.

Abstract:In this paper, the irreducible representations of the coordinate ring Oq(spC2n) of quantum symplectic space are classified. Especially, the De Concini–Kac–Procesi conjecture is proved to be true for this algebra. The main steps are the computation of the center and the degree of the algebra Oq(spC2n) by using the associated quasipolynomial algebra Oq(spC2n), find some “good” points in the underlying symplectic leaves and construct some quasipolynomial algebras correspond to these “good” points.

Abstract:The quantum double Schubert polynomials studied by Kirillov and Maeno, and by Ciocan-Fontanine and Fulton, are shown to represent Schubert classes in Kim's presentation of the equivariant quantum cohomology of the flag variety. We define parabolic analogues of quantum double Schubert polynomials, and show that they represent Schubert classes in the equivariant quantum cohomology of partial flag varieties. For complete flags Anderson and Chen have announced a proof with different methods.
