What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper attempts to address the issue of reviewing and re-examining the main statements of the portfolio selection theory left by the famous American economist H. Markowitz (1927-2023), and includes all necessary auxiliary details in terms of mathematical integrity. Specifically, the paper aims to: 1. **Review the Portfolio Selection Theory**: The paper re-examines Markowitz's portfolio selection theory (also known as Modern Portfolio Theory, Mean-Variance Analysis, or simply Markowitz Theory), which is his significant contribution proposed and developed in multiple literatures. 2. **Discussion of Mathematical Integrity**: The authors not only focus on the core statements of the theory but also delve into the mathematical foundations of these statements, ensuring mathematical integrity in the formulation and proof of these theories. 3. **Discussion of Impact on Other Fields**: The paper also briefly discusses the impact of Markowitz's theory on other fields, such as the Capital Asset Pricing Model, Utility Theory, Arbitrage Pricing Theory, and Postmodern Theory. Through these objectives, the paper hopes to provide readers with a comprehensive and rigorous perspective to understand Markowitz's contributions to portfolio selection theory and its profound impact.
