Abstract:We introduce new class of limitedly L-weakly compact operators from a Banach space to a Banach lattice. This class is a proper subclass of the Bourgain-Diestel operators and it contains properly the class of L-weakly compact operators. We give its efficient characterization in term of sequences, investigate the domination problem, and study the completeness of this class of operators.

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to introduce and study the class of almost limited p -convergent and weak almost p -convergent operators ( ). Some new characterizations of Banach lattices with the strong limited p -Schur property; that is, spaces on which every almost limited weakly p -compact set is relatively compact and the weak DP property of order p are obtained. The behavior of the class of these operators with the weak DP property of order p (with focus on Banach lattices with the strong limited p -Schur property) is investigated. Moreover, Banach lattices with the positive limited p -Schur property are introduced and Banach lattices in which this property is equivalent to some other known properties are discussed. In addition, the domination properties of almost limited p -convergent and weak almost p -convergent operators are considered. As an application, using almost limited p -convergent operators we establish some necessary and sufficient conditions under which some operator spaces have the strong limited p -Schur property.

Abstract:We study operators carrying disjoint bounded subsets of a Banach lattice into compact, weakly compact, and limited subsets of a Banach space. Surprisingly, these operators behave differently with classical compact, weakly compact, and limited operators. We introduce and investigate d-Andrews operators which carry disjoint bounded sets onto Dunford--Pettis sets.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce and study a new class of operators related to norm bounded sets on Banach Lattice and which brings together several classical classes of operators (as o-weakly compact operators, b-weakly compact operators, M-weakly compact operators, L-weakly compact operators, almost Dunford-Pettis operators). Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of two classes of operators related to disjointly weakly compact sets, which we call $DW$-DP operators and $DW$-limited operators, respectively. They carry disjointly weakly compact subsets of a Banach lattice onto Dunford-Pettis sets and limited sets, respectively. We show that $DW$-DP (resp. $DW$-limited) operators are precisely the operators which are both weak Dunford-Pettis and order Dunford-Pettis (resp. weak$^*$ Dunford-Pettis and order limited) operators. Furthermore, the approximation properties of positive $DW$-DP and positive $DW$-limited operators are given.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of $DW$-compact operators, that is, those operators which map disjointly weakly compact sets in a Banach lattice onto relatively compact sets. We show that $DW$-compact operators are precisely the operators which are both Dunford-Pettis and $AM$-compact. As an application, Banach lattices with the property that every disjointly weakly compact set is a limited (resp. Dunford-Pettis) set, are characterized by using $DW$-compact operators.

Abstract:Suppose $X$ and $Y$ are Banach spaces, $K$ is a compact Hausdorff space, $\Sigma$ is the $\sigma$-algebra of Borel subsets of $K$, $C(K,X)$ is the Banach space of all continuous $X$-valued functions (with the supremum norm), and $T:C(K,X)\to Y$ is a strongly bounded operator with representing measure $m:\Sigma \to L(X,Y)$. We show that if $\hat{T}: B(K, X) \to Y$ is its extension, then $T$ is weak Dunford-Pettis (resp. weak$^*$ Dunford-Pettis, weak $p$-convergent, weak$^*$ $p$-convergent) if and only if $\hat{T}$ has the same property. We prove that if $T:C(K,X)\to Y$ is strongly bounded limited completely continuous (resp. limited $p$-convergent), then $m(A):X\to Y$ is limited completely continuous (resp. limited $p$-convergent) for each $A\in \Sigma$. We also prove that the above implications become equivalences when $K$ is a dispersed compact Hausdorff space.

Abstract:Let $1\leq p\leq q\leq\infty.$ Being motivated by the classical notions of limited, $p$-limited and coarse $p$-limited subsets of a Banach space, we introduce and study $(p,q)$-limited subsets and their equicontinuous versions and coarse $p$-limited subsets of an arbitrary locally convex space $E$. Operator characterizations of these classes are given. We compare these classes with the classes of bounded, (pre)compact, weakly (pre)compact and relatively weakly sequentially (pre)compact sets. If $E$ is a Banach space, we show that the class of coarse $1$-limited subsets of $E$ coincides with the class of $(1,\infty)$-limited sets, and if $1<p<\infty$, then the class of coarse $p$-limited sets in $E$ coincides with the class of $p$-$(V^\ast)$ sets of Pełczyński. We also generalize a known theorem of Grothendieck.

Abstract:It is well known that every $$l_2$$ -strictly singular operator from $$L_p$$ , $$1<p<\infty $$ to any Banach space X with an unconditional basis is narrow. In this article, we extend this result to the setting of Banach spaces without an unconditional basis. We show that if $$1 \le p,r <\infty $$ , then every $$\ell _2$$ -strictly singular operator T from $$L_p $$ into the Schatten–von Neumann r-class $$C_r$$ is narrow. This is a noncommutative complement to results in Mykhaylyuk et al. (in Israel J Math 203:81–108, 2014).

Abstract:First we characterize the Banach lattices E whose biduals have the positive Schur property by means of second adjoints of operators on E being almost Dunford-Pettis. Next we extend some known results concerning conditions on the Banach lattices E and F under which the adjoint T* and the second adjoint T** of any positive almost Dunford-Pettis operator T from E to F are almost Dunford-Pettis. Finally, we prove when T* and T** are almost Dunford-Pettis for any (non necessarily almost Dunford-Pettis) T that is either bounded, regular, order bounded or weakly compact.

Abstract:In this paper, almost Dunford-Pettis operators with ranges in $c_0$ are used to identify totally bounded sets in the absolute weak topology. That is, a bounded subset $A$ of a Banach lattice $E$ is $|\sigma|(E,E^\prime)$-totally bounded if and only if $T(A)\subset c_0$ is relatively compact for every almost Dunford-Pettis operator $T:E\to{c_0}$. As an application, we show that for two Banach lattices $E$ and $F$ every positive operator from $E$ to $F$ dominated by a PL-compact operator is PL-compact if and only if either the norm of $E^{\,\prime}$ is order continuous or every order interval in $F$ is $|\sigma|(F,F^\prime)$-totally bounded.

Abstract:Let ℳ be a semifinite von Neumann algebra. We show that an operator T from the predual L_1(ℳ,τ ) of ℳ into a Banach space X is strongly Dunford–Pettis if and only if T∘ i: L_1(ℳ,τ ) ∩ℳ→ _i L_1(ℳ,τ ) → _T X is compact. We also show that for a finite measure space (A,Σ ,ν ) and a reflexive Banach space X , a linear bounded operator T:L_1(ν ,X)→ c_0 is a Dunford–Pettis operator if and only if T is a dominated operator. We also prove that all bounded operators T from L_p(0,1) into the Schatten–von Neumann r -class C_r are necessarily narrow whenever 1≤ p<2 , 1≤ r≤ p , which answers a question raised in Huang et al. (Mediterr. J Math 19, 2022). Finally, we show that for a reflexive Banach space X all Dunford–Pettis operators from T:L_1(ν ,X)→ c_0 are narrow.

Abstract:First we give conditions on a Banach lattice $E$ so that an operator $T$ from $E$ to any Banach space is disjoint $p$-convergent if and only if $T$ is almost Dunford-Pettis. Then we study when adjoints of positive operators between Banach lattices are disjoint $p$-convergent. For instance, we prove that the following conditions are equivalent for all Banach lattices $E$ and $F$: (i) A positive operator $T \colon E \to F$ is almost weak $p$-convergent if and only if $T^*$ is disjoint $p$-convergent; (ii) $E^*$ has order continuous norm or $F^*$ has the positive Schur property of order $p$. Very recent results are improved, examples are given and applications of the main results are provided.
