Abstract:Abstract In the present paper, a class of Schrödinger equations is investigated, which can be stated as − Δ u + V ( x ) u = f ( u ) , x ∈ R N . - \Delta u + V(x)u = f(u),\;\;\;\;x \in {{\rm{\mathbb R}}^N}. If the external potential V is radial and coercive, then we give the local Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz super-linear condition on the nonlinearity term f ∈ C (R, R) which assures the problem has not only infinitely many radial sign-changing solutions, but also infinitely many non-radial sign-changing solutions.

Abstract:We study the following coupled Schrödinger equations which have appeared as several models from mathematical physics:{−Δu1+λ1u1=μ1u13+βu1u22,x∈Ω,−Δu2+λ2u2=μ2u23+βu12u2,x∈Ω,u1=u2=0on ∂Ω. Here Ω⊂RN (N=2,3) is a smooth bounded domain, λ1,λ2, μ1,μ2 are all positive constants. We show that, for each k∈N there exists βk>0 such that this system has at least k sign-changing solutions (i.e., both two components change sign) and k semi-nodal solutions (i.e., one component changes sign and the other one is positive) for each fixed β∈(0,βk).

Abstract:We study the following coupled Schrödinger equations which have appeared as several models from mathematical physics: {displaymath} {cases}-\Delta u_1 +\la_1 u_1 = \mu_1 u_1^3+\beta u_1 u_2^2, \quad x\in \Omega, -\Delta u_2 +\la_2 u_2 =\mu_2 u_2^3+\beta u_1^2 u_2, \quad x\in \Om, u_1=u_2=0 \,\,\,\hbox{on \,$\partial\Om$}.{cases}{displaymath} Here $\Om$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\R^N (N=2, 3)$ or $\Om=\RN$, $\la_1,\, \la_2$, $\mu_1,\,\mu_2$ are all positive constants and the coupling constant $\bb<0$. We show that this system has infinitely many sign-changing solutions. We also obtain infinitely many semi-nodal solutions in the following sense: one component changes sign and the other one is positive. The crucial idea of our proof, which has never been used for this system before, is turning to study a new problem with two constraints. Finally, when $\Om$ is a bounded domain, we show that this system has a least energy sign-changing solution, both two components of which have exactly two nodal domains, and we also study the asymptotic behavior of solutions as $\beta\to -\infty$ and phase separation is expected.
Positive and sign-changing solutions for the nonlinear Schrödinger systems with synchronization and separation

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following nonlinear Schrödinger system: -$\Delta$ u+P(x)u=$\mu_1$ $u^3$+$\beta$ u$v^2$, x $\in$ $R^3$,\\ -$\Delta$ v+Q(x)v=$\mu_2$ $v^3$+$\beta$ $u^2$v, x $\in$ $R^3$, where $P(x),Q(x)$ are positive radial potentials,~$\mu_1,\,\mu_2>0$, $\beta$ $\in$ $R$ is a coupling constant. We constructed a new type of solutions which are different from the ones obtained in \cite{PW}. This new family of solutions to system have a more complex concentration structure and are centered at the points lying on the top and the bottom circles of a cylinder with height $h$. Moreover, we examine the effect of nonlinear coupling on the solution structure. In the repulsive case, we construct an unbounded sequence of non-radial positive vector solutions of segregated type. In the attractive case, we construct an unbounded sequence of non-radial positive vector solutions of synchronized type. Moreover, we prove that there exist infinitely many sign-changing solutions whose energy can be arbitrarily large.

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with the physically engaging pseudo-relativistic Schrödinger system: \[ \begin{cases} \left(-\Delta+m^{2}\right)^{s}u(x)=f(x,u,v,\nabla u) & \hbox{in } \Omega,\\ \left(-\Delta+m^{2}\right)^{t}v(x)=g(x,u,v,\nabla v) & \hbox{in } \Omega,\\ u>0,v>0 & \hbox{in } \Omega, \\ u=v\equiv 0 & \hbox{in } \mathbb{R}^{N}\setminus\Omega, \end{cases} \]where $s,t\in (0,1)$ and the mass $m>0.$ By using the direct method of moving plane, we prove the strict monotonicity, symmetry and uniqueness for positive solutions to the above system in a bounded domain, unbounded domain, $\mathbb {R}^{N}$, $\mathbb {R}^{N}_{+}$ and a coercive epigraph domain $\Omega$ in $\mathbb {R}^{N}$, respectively.

Abstract:We study the uniqueness of positive solutions of the following coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations: \begin{eqnarray*} \Delta u_1-\lambda_1 u_1+\mu_1u_1^3+\beta u_1u_2^2=0\quad in\quad R^N,\\ \Delta u_2-\lambda_2u_2+\mu_2u_2^3+\beta u_1^2u_2=0\quad in\quad R^N, \\ u_1>0, u_2>0, u_1, u_2 \in H^1 (R^N), \end{eqnarray*} where $N\leq3$, $\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\mu_1,\mu_2$ are positive constants and $\beta\geq 0$ is a coupling constant. We prove first the uniqueness of positive solution for sufficiently small $\beta > 0$. Secondly, assuming that $\lambda_1=\lambda_2$, we show that $u_1=u_2\sqrt{\beta-\mu_1}/\sqrt{\beta-\mu_2}$ when $\beta > \max\{\mu_1,\mu_2\}$ and thus obtain the uniqueness of positive solution using the corresponding result of scalar equation. Finally, for $N=1$ and $\lambda_1=\lambda_2$, we prove the uniqueness of positive solution when $0\leq \beta\notin [\min\{\mu_1,\mu_2\},\max\{\mu_1,\mu_2\}]$ and thus give a complete classification of positive solutions.

Abstract:We analyze the shape of radial second Dirichlet eigenfunctions of fractional Schrödinger type operators of the form $(-\Delta)^s +V$ in the unit ball $B$ in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with a nondecreasing radial potential $V$. Specifically, we show that the eigenspace corresponding to the second radial eigenvalue is simple and spanned by an eigenfunction $u$ which changes sign precisely once in the radial variable and does not have zeroes anywhere else in $B$. Moreover, by a new Hopf type lemma for supersolutions to a class of degenerate mixed boundary value problems, we show that $u$ has a nonvanishing fractional boundary derivative on $\partial B$. We apply this result to prove uniqueness and nondegeneracy of positive ground state solutions to the problem $(-\Delta)^s u+\lambda u=u^p$ on ${B}$, $\; u=0$ on $\mathbb{R}^N\setminus B$. Here $s\in (0,1)$, $\lambda\geq 0$ and $p>1$ is strictly smaller than the critical Sobolev exponent.

Abstract:The paper deals with the existence of non-radial solutions for an $N$-coupled nonlinear elliptic system. In the repulsive regime with some structure conditions on the coupling and for each symmetric subspace of rotation symmetry, we prove the existence of an infinite sequence of non-radial positive solutions and an infinite sequence of non-radial nodal solutions.

Abstract:We study the logarithmic Schrödinger equation with the sign-changing potential function. It is known that the corresponding functional is not well defined in <math>H1(RN)</math>, but by imposing some condition on V(x), we can show that the functional is well defined in a subspace of <math>H1(RN)</math>. Then, the existence and multiplicity of solutions is obtained by using variational methods. We remark that the existence of solutions is deeply influenced by the sign of Q(x).

Abstract:We prove the uniqueness of the positive solutions of the following elliptic system: (1) $-\Delta(u(x))=u(x)^{\alpha}v(x)^{\beta}$, (2) $-\Delta(v(x))=u(x)^{\beta}v(x)^{\alpha}$. Here $x\in R^n$, $n\geq3$, and $1\leq\alpha<\beta\leq\frac{n+2}{n-2}$ with $\alpha+\beta=\frac{n+2}{n-2}$. In the special case when $n=3$ and $\alpha =2$, $\beta=3$, the system is closely related to the ones from the stationary Schrodinger system with critical exponents for the Bose–Einstein condensate. As the first step, we prove the radial symmetry of the positive solutions to the elliptic system above with critical exponents. We then prove that $u=v$, which is a key point for our uniqueness result.

Employing an innovative perturbation technique and the method of invariant sets in the descending flow, we rigorously establish the existence and multiplicity of sign-changing solutions for the aforementioned problem. Abstract:In this article, we study the unconditional uniqueness of. (H) over dot(s), 0 < s < 1, solutions for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation i partial derivative(t)u+Delta u+c vertical bar u vertical bar(alpha)u = 0 in R-n. We give a unified proof of the previously known results in the subcritical cases and critical cases, and we also extend these results to some previously unsettled cases. Our proof uses, in particular, negative order Sobolev spaces (or Besov spaces), general nonhomogeneous Strichartz estimates, and the improved regularity property for the difference of two solutions.
