Abstract:In recent literature on holographic QCD, the consideration of the five-dimensional Einstein-dilaton-Maxwell models has played a crucial role. Typically, one Maxwell field is associated with the chemical potential, while additional Maxwell fields are used to describe the anisotropy of the model. A more general scenario involves up to four Maxwell fields. The second field represents spatial longitudinal-transverse anisotropy, while the third and fourth fields describe anisotropy induced by an external magnetic field. We consider an ansatz for the metric characterized by four functions at zero temperature and five functions at non-zero temperature. Maxwell field related to the chemical potential is treated with the electric ansatz, as is customary, whereas the remaining three Maxwell fields are treated with a magnetic ansatz. We demonstrate that for the fully anisotropic diagonal metric only six out of the seven equations are independent. One of the matter equations -- either the dilaton or the vector potential equation -- follows from the Einstein equations and the remaining matter equation. This redundancy arises due to the Bianchi identity for the Einstein tensor and the specific form of the stress-energy tensor in the model. A procedure for solving this system of six equations is provided. This method generalizes previously studied cases involving up to three Maxwell fields. In the solution with three magnetic fields our analysis shows, that the dilaton equation is a consequence of the five Einstein equations and the equation for the vector potential

Abstract:Intrinsic Conformal Symmetries have emerged as a tool for developing viable and physically coherent models, particularly in scenarios incorporating a negative cosmological constant. This study demonstrates that when the bulk geometry accommodates a set of $10$ Intrinsic Conformal Symmetries, which operate on three-dimensional hypersurfaces (be they spacelike or timelike), it leads to the existence of two distinct families of five-dimensional spacetimes. These spacetimes represent the general solutions to the bulk field equations. An aspect of these models is the composition of their energy-momentum tensor, which includes two key components: a negative cosmological constant and a parallel pressure $p_{\parallel}$ aligned with the extra spatial dimension. This framework can be perceived as a $5D$ extension of the recently identified Spatially Inhomogeneous and Irrotational spacetimes. Significantly, these models offer a novel perspective for investigating the impacts of spatial inhomogeneity on the cosmological evolution of the Universe, particularly within the context of the Randall-Sundrum theory. This exploration is essential for deepening our understanding of the role of higher dimensions in cosmological models.

Abstract:The equation of motion of an extended object in spacetime reduces to an ordinary differential equation in the presence of symmetry. By properly defining of the symmetry with notion of cohomogeneity, we discuss the method for classifying all these extended objects. We carry out the classification for the strings in the five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space by the effective use of the local isomorphism between $\SO(4,2)$ and $\SU(2,2)$. We present a general method for solving the trajectory of the Nambu-Goto string and apply to a case obtained by the classification, thereby find a new solution which has properties unique to odd-dimensional anti-de Sitter spaces. The geometry of the solution is analized and found to be a timelike helicoid-like surface.

Abstract:We study a class of shear-free, homogeneous but anisotropic cosmological models with imperfect matter sources in the context of f(R) gravity. We show that the anisotropic stresses are related to the electric part of the Weyl tensor in such a way that they balance each other. We also show that within the class of orthogonal f(R) models, small perturbations of shear are damped, and that the electric part of the Weyl tensor and the anisotropic stress tensor decay with the expansion as well as the heat flux of the curvature fluid. Specializing in locally rotationally symmetric spacetimes in orthonormal frames, we examine the late-time behaviour of the de Sitter universe in $f(R)$ gravity. For the Starobinsky model of f(R), we study the evolutionary behavior of the Universe by numerically integrating the Friedmann equation, where the initial conditions for the expansion, acceleration and jerk parameters are taken from observational data.

Abstract:We present a class of smooth supersymmetric heterotic solutions with a non-compact Eguchi-Hanson space. The non-compact geometry is embedded as the base of a six-dimensional non-Kähler manifold with a non-trivial torus fiber. We solve the non-linear anomaly equation in this background exactly. We also define a new charge that detects the non-Kählerity of our solutions.

Abstract:The low-energy limit of string theory contains additional gravitational degrees of freedom, a skew-symmetric tensor $B$-field and a scalar dilaton, that are not present in general relativity. Together with the metric, these three fields are naturally embedded in the $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$-symmetric framework of double field theory. The $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ symmetry uniquely prescribes the interactions between the extended gravitational sector and other matter, leading to novel features beyond conventional string cosmology. In this work we present the equations of motion for linear perturbations around $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ string cosmological backgrounds in $D=4$ under a scalar-vector-tensor decomposition. We obtain analytic solutions in the superhorizon limit for scalar perturbations around various homogeneous and isotropic background solutions, including some candidate models for bouncing cosmologies. The generalized energy-momentum tensor includes source terms for the $B$-field and dilaton, and we show how the resulting generalized conservation laws modify the conditions for conservation of curvature perturbations.

Abstract:We study the effect of higher-curvature terms in the string low-energy effective actions on the cosmological solutions of the theory, up to corrections quartic in the curvatures, for the bosonic and heterotic strings as well as the type II superstring. We find that cosmological solutions exist for all string types but they always disappear when the dilaton field is included, a conclusion that can be avoided if string-loop effects are taken into account.

Abstract:We explore the cosmological dynamics of a minimalistic yet generic string-inspired model for multifield dark energy. Adopting a supergravity four-dimensional viewpoint, we motivate the model's structure arising from superstring compactifications involving a chiral superfield and a pure U(1) gauge sector. The chiral sector gives rise to a pair of scalar fields, such as the axio-dilaton, which are kinetically coupled. However, the scalar potential depends on only one of them, further entwined with the vector field through the gauge kinetic function. The model has two anisotropic attractor solutions that, despite a steep potential and thanks to multifield dynamics, could explain the current accelerated expansion of the Universe while satisfying observational constraints on the late-times cosmological anisotropy. Nevertheless, justifying the parameter space allowing for slow roll dynamics together with the correct cosmological parameters, would be challenging within the landscape of string theory. Intriguingly, we find that the vector field, particularly at one of the studied fixed points, plays a crucial role in enabling geodesic trajectories in the scalar field space while realizing slow-roll dynamics with a steep potential. This observation opens a new avenue for exploring multifield dark energy models within the superstring landscape.

Isotropic Exact Solutions via Noether Symmetries in $f(R,T,R_{μν}T^{μν})$ Gravity

Abstract:In this paper, we study cosmic evolutionary stages in the background of modified theory admitting non-minimal coupling between Ricci scalar, trace of the energy-momentum tensor, contracted Ricci and energy-momentum tensors. For dust distribution, we consider isotropic, homogeneous and flat cosmic model to determine symmetry generators, conserved integrals and exact solutions using Noether symmetry scheme. We find maximum symmetries for non-minimally interacting Ricci scalar and trace of the energy-momentum tensor but none of them correspond to any standard symmetry. For rest of the models, we obtain scaling symmetry with conserved linear momentum. The graphical analysis of standard cosmological parameters, squared speed of sound, viability conditions suggested by Dolgov-Kawasaki instability and state-finder parameters identify realistic nature of new models compatible with Chaplygin gas model, quintessence and phantom regions. The fractional densities relative to ordinary matter and dark energy are found to be consistent with Planck 2018 observational data. It is concluded that the constructed non-minimally coupled models successfully explore cosmic accelerated expansion.

Abstract:We generalize previous work on inhomogeneous pre-big bang cosmology by including the effect of non-trivial moduli and antisymmetric-tensor/axion fields. The general quasi-homogeneous asymptotic solution---as one approaches the big bang singularity from perturbative initial data---is given and its range of validity is discussed, allowing us to give a general quantitative estimate of the amount of inflation obtained during the perturbative pre-big bang era. The question of determining early-time ``attractors'' for generic pre-big bang cosmologies is also addressed, and a motivated conjecture is advanced. We also discuss S-duality-related features of the solutions, and speculate on the way an asymptotic T-duality symmetry may act on moduli space as one approaches the big bang.

Homogeneous Cosmological Models in Weyl's Geometrical Scalar-Tensor Theory

Abstract:In this paper, we consider homogeneous cosmological solutions in the context of the Weyl geometrical scalar-tensor theory. Firstly, we exhibit an anisotropic Kasner type solution taking advantage of some similarities between this theory and the Brans-Dicke theory. Next, we consider an isotropic model with a flat spatial section sourced by matter configurations described by a perfect fluid. In this model, we obtain an analytical solution for the stiff matter case. For other cases, we carry out a complete qualitative analysis theory to investigate the general behaviour of the solutions, presenting some possible scenarios. In this work, we do not consider the presence of the cosmological constant nor do we take any potential of the scalar field into account. Because of this, we do not find any solution describing the acceleration of the universe.

Abstract:$^1S_0$ pairing in nuclear matter is investigated by taking the hadron mass decrease into account via the ``In-Medium Bonn potential'' which was recently proposed by Rapp et al. The resulting gap is significantly reduced in comparison with the one obtained with the original Bonn-B potential and we ascertain that the meson mass decrease is mainly responsible for this reduction.

Abstract:We investigate a 6D generalized Randall-Sundrum brane world scenario with a bulk cosmological constant. Each stress-energy tensor T-ab(i) on the brane is shown to be similar to a constant vacuum energy. This is consistent with the Randall-Sundrum model, in which each 3-brane Lagrangian yielded a constant vacuum energy. By adopting an anisotropic metric ansatz, we obtain the 5D Friedmann-Robertson-Walker field equations. In a slightly later period, the expansion of the universe is proportional to the square root of time, t(1/2), which is similar to the period of the radiation-dominated regime. Moreover, we investigate the case with two a(t) and two b(t). In a large range of t, we obtain the 3D effective cosmological constant Lambda(eff) = 2 Omega/3 > 0, which is independent of the integral constant. Here, the scale factor is an exponential expansion, which is consistent with our present observation of the universe. Our results demonstrate that it is possible to construct a model that solves the dark energy problem, while guaranteeing a positive brane tension.
New Non-Supersymmetric Tachyon-Free Strings

Abstract:In four decades of string theory research, only a handful of non-supersymmetric tachyon-free strings with only one neutral scalar at tree level were found. We construct new such non-supersymmetric tachyon-free string theories using asymmetric orbifolds that serve as the lower-dimensional counterparts to the $O(16) \times O(16)$ string in 4d, 6d, and 8d, each featuring only one neutral scalar at tree level, chiral matter and positive leading order cosmological constant. The 4d construction uses a quasicrystalline orbifold.

Noncommutative Symmetries and Stability of Black Ellipsoids in Metric--Affine and String Gravity

Abstract:We construct new classes of exact solutions in metric--affine gravity (MAG) with string corrections by the antisymmetric $H$--field. The solutions are parametrized by generic off--diagonal metrics possessing noncommutative symmetry associated to anholonomy framerelations and related nonlinear connection (N--connection) structure. We analyze the horizon and geodesic properties of a class of off--diagonal metrics with deformed spherical symmetries. The maximal analytic extension of ellipsoid type metrics are constructed and the Penrose diagrams are analyzed with respect to adapted frames. We prove that for small deformations (small eccentricities) there are such metrics that the geodesic behaviour is similar to the Schwarzcshild one. The new class of spacetimes do not possess Killing symmetries even in the limits to the general relativity and, in consequence, they are not prohibited by black hole uniqueness theorems. Such static ellipsoid (rotoid) configurations are compatible with the cosmic cenzorship criteria. We study the perturbations of two classes of static black ellipsoid solutions of four dimensional gravitational field equations. We conclude that such anisotropic black hole objects may be stable with respect to the perturbations parametrized by the Schrodinger equations in the framework of the one--dimensional inverse scattering theory.

Anisotropic Stellar Models with Tolman IV Spacetime in Non-minimally Coupled Theory

Abstract:This article aims to investigate various anisotropic stellar models in the background of $f(\mathcal{R},\mathcal{T},\mathcal{Q})$ gravity, where $\mathcal{Q}=\mathcal{R}_{\varphi\vartheta}\mathcal{T}^{\varphi\vartheta}$. In this regard, we adopt two standard models as $\mathcal{R}+\zeta\mathcal{Q}$ and $\mathcal{R}+\zeta\mathcal{R}\mathcal{Q}$, where $\zeta$ symbolizes an arbitrary coupling parameter. We take spherical interior geometry and find solution to the modified gravitational field equations corresponding to each model by employing the `Tolman IV' spacetime. We need an additional constraint to close the system of field equations, thus the $\mathbb{MIT}$ bag model equation of state is chosen. The effects of modified theory on physical properties of six compact stars like PSR J 1614 2230,~SMC X-1,~Cen X-3,~PSR J 1903+327,~SAX J 1808.4-3658 and 4U 1820-30 are analyzed by using their respective masses and radii. We also determine the values of three unknowns involving in Tolman IV solution as well as the bag constant for each star at the hypersurface. Furthermore, various characteristics of the resulting solutions are examined through graphical interpretation for $\zeta=\pm5$. Finally, we explore the stability of the compact objects through two different approaches. We conclude that our model-I produces physically acceptable structures corresponding to each star candidate for both values of $\zeta$ whereas model-II is stable only for $\zeta=5$.
