Abstract:Given an F-sigma-delta subset A of the real line R of Lebesgue measure zero, we construct a monotone absolutely continuous function f from R to R such that the little Lipschitz constant of f is equal to infinity exactly at points of A.

Abstract:We generalize a result by Alberti, showing that, if a first-order linear differential operator $\mathcal{A}$ belongs to a certain class, then any $L^1$ function is the absolutely continuous part of a measure $\mu$ satisfying $\mathcal{A}\mu=0$. When $\mathcal{A}$ is scalar valued, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the above property to hold true and we prove dimensional estimates on the singular part of $\mu$. Finally, we show that operators in the above class satisfy a Lusin-type property.

Abstract:We study the existence of continuous (linear) operators from the Banach spaces $\mbox{Lip}_0(M)$ of Lipschitz functions on infinite metric spaces $M$ vanishing at a distinguished point and from their predual spaces $\mathcal{F}(M)$ onto certain Banach spaces, including $C(K)$-spaces and the spaces $c_0$ and $\ell_1$. For pairs of spaces $\mbox{Lip}_0(M)$ and $C(K)$ we prove that if they are endowed with topologies weaker than the norm topology, then usually no continuous (linear or not) surjection exists between those spaces. It is also showed that if a metric space $M$ contains a bilipschitz copy of the unit sphere $S_{c_0}$ of the space $c_0$, then $\mbox{Lip}_0(M)$ admits a continuous operator onto $\ell_1$ and hence onto $c_0$. Using this, we provide several conditions for a space $M$ implying that $\mbox{Lip}_0(M)$ is not a Grothendieck space. Finally, we obtain a new characterization of the Schur property for Lipschitz-free spaces: a space $\mathcal{F}(M)$ has the Schur property if and only if for every discrete metric space $N$ with cardinality $d(M)$ the spaces $\mathcal{F}(M)$ and $\mathcal{F}(N)$ are weakly sequentially homeomorphic.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a Banach space and $F: [0, 1] \rightarrow 2^{X} \setminus \{ \varnothing \}$ be a bounded multifunction. We study properties of the set $I(F)$ of limits in Hausdorff distance of Riemann integral sums of $F$. The main results are: (1) $I(F)$ is convex in the case of finite-dimensional $X$; (2) $I(F) = I(\operatorname{conv} F)$ in B-convex spaces or for compact-valued multifunctions; (3) $I(F)$ consists of convex sets whenever $X$ is B-convex; (4) $I(F)$ is star-shaped (thus non-empty) for compact-valued multifunctions in separable spaces. (5) For each infinite-dimensional Banach space there is a bounded multifunction with empty $I(F)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the concept of strongly order continuity of a set function, and use it to investigate the convergence of measurable functions sequence and of integral sequence on fuzzy measure space. Several equivalent conditions of strongly order continuity are presented. It is shown that a necessary and sufficient condition that Lebesgue's theorem remains valid for a monotone set function is that the set function possesses strongly order continuity.

Abstract:Let I be a closed interval and f:I --> I be continuous. We investigate the structure of the inverse limit space lim(I, f) which contains no indecomposable subcontinuum. In particular, we show that the set of nondegenerate maximal nowhere dense subcontinua of lim(I, f) is finite if f is piecewise monotone with zero topological entropy. Applying the above result, we show that if f: I --> I is piecewise monotone, then the following statements are equivalent:(1) lim(I, f) contains no indecomposable subcontinuum.(2) The topological entropy of f is zero.(3) lim(I, f) is Suslinean.(4) Each homeomorphism of lim(I, f) has zero topological entropy.We also show how the order of lim(I, f) is dependent on the set of periods of f when f is piecewise monotone with zero topological entropy. Abstract:Let $f:X\to X$ be a hereditarily locally connected continuum homeomorphism and denote respectively by $P(f)$, $AP(f)$ and $\Omega(f)$, the sets of periodic points, almost periodic points and the non-wandering points of $f$. We show that any $\omega$-limit set (resp. $\alpha$-limit set) is minimal. Moreover, we show that $\Omega(f)=AP(f)$. We also prove that if $P(f)=\emptyset$, then there exists a unique minimal set. On the other hand, if $P(f)\neq\emptyset$ then we prove that any infinite minimal set has the adding machine structure and the absence of Li-Yorke pairs. Consequently, we partially solve the positive entropy conjecture which remains open even in the case of hereditarily locally connected continuum.

Abstract:We establish a Fenchel-Moreau type theorem for proper convex functions f : X -> (L) over bar (0), where (X,Y,<.,.>) is a dual pair of Banach spaces and (L) over bar (0) is the space of all extended real-valued functions on a sigma-finite measure space. We introduce the concept of stable lower semi-continuity which is shown to be equivalent to the existence of a dual representation f(x) = sup(y is an element of L0(Y)) {< x, y > - f*(y)}, x is an element of X, where L-0(Y) is the space of all strongly measurable functions with values in Y, and <.,.> is understood pointwise almost everywhere. The proof is based on a conditional extension result and conditional functional analysis.

Abstract:We mainly study the equicontinuity of maps on [0,1). Let f : X -> X be a continuous map on X = [0,1). We show that if f is an equicontinuous map with F(f) nonempty, then one of the following two conditions holds: (1) F(f) consists of a single point and F(f(2)) = boolean AND(infinity)(n=1) fn(X);(2) F(f) = boolean AND(infinity)(n=1) f(n)(x). Last we construct two examples to show that the converse result doesn't hold.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a subset of a Hilbert space. We prove that if is such that for all and all non‐negative that add up to one, then for any 1‐Lipschitz , with , there exists a 1‐Lipschitz extension of such that the uniform distance on between and is the same as the uniform distance on between and . Moreover, if either or is convex, we prove the converse: We show that a map that allows for a 1‐Lipschitz, uniform distance preserving extension of any 1‐Lipschitz map on a subset of also satisfies the above set of inequalities. We also prove a similar continuity result concerning extensions of monotone maps. Our results hold true also for maps taking values in infinite‐dimensional spaces.

We investigate the convergence behavior of the double integral $$(*) \;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; \int_{0}^{A} \int_{0}^{B} f(u, v)dudv \;\;\; as \;\; A,B \rightarrow \infty$$ where A and B tend to infinity independently of one another, while using two notions of convergence: that in Pringsheim’s sense and that in the regular sense. Abstract:Given a measurable space (X,F), a fuzzy measure μ on (X,F), and a nonnegative functionfonXthat is measurable with respect toF, we can define a new set function ν on (X,F) by the fuzzy integral. It is known that ν is a lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure on (X,F) and, moreover, if μ is finite, then ν is a finite fuzzy measure as well. In this paper, we generalize in several different ways the concept of absolute continuity of set functions, as defined in classical measure theory. In addition, we investigate the relationship among these generalizations by using the structural characteristics of set functions such as null-additivity and autocontinuity, and determine which types of absolute continuity of fuzzy measures are possessed by the fuzzy measure (or the lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure) obtained by the fuzzy integral.

Abstract:We consider Gomory and Johnson's infinite group model with a single row. Valid inequalities for this model are expressed by valid functions and it has been recently shown that any valid function is dominated by some nonnegative valid function, modulo the affine hull of the model. Within the set of nonnegative valid functions, extreme functions are the ones that cannot be expressed as convex combinations of two distinct valid functions. In this paper we construct an extreme function $\pi:\mathbb{R} \to [0,1]$ whose graph is dense in $\mathbb{R} \times [0,1]$. Therefore, $\pi$ is discontinuous everywhere.

Abstract:We prove that the continuous function (Omega) over cap : 2 omega -> R that is defined via X bar right arrow Sigma(n) 2(-K(X up arrow n)) for all X is an element of 2(omega) is differentiable exactly at the Martin-Lof random reals with the derivative having value 0; that it is nowhere monotonic; and that integral(1)(0) (Omega) over cap (X) dX is a left-c.e. wtt-complete real having effective Hausdorff dimension 1/2. We further investigate the algorithmic properties of (Omega) over cap. For example, we show that the maximal value of (Omega) over cap must be random, the minimal valuemust be Turing complete, and that (Omega) over cap (X) circle plus X >= (T) empty set' for every X. We also obtain some machine-dependent results, including that for every epsilon > 0, there is a universal machine V such that (Omega) over cap (V) maps every real X having effective Hausdorff dimension greater than e to a real of effective Hausdorff dimension 0 with the property that X <=(tt) (Omega) over cap (V) (X); and that there is a real X and a universal machine V such that Omega(V) (X) is rational.

Abstract:This paper catalogues a variety of examples concerning a type of function of a $p$-adic integer variable defined by a formal series expression we have dubbed "$\mathcal{F}$-series". These series exhibit a new, previously undocumented form of point-wise convergence, one where the topology in which the limit of a sequence of functions $\left\{ f_{n}\right\}_{n\geq1}$ converges depends on the point at which the sequence is evaluated. In a manner comparable to the adele ring of a number field, functions defined by $\mathcal{F}$-series require considering different metric completions of an underlying field in order to be properly understood.
