Abstract:In this paper we give some new consequences that follow from our formula for increments of the Hardy-Littlewood integral. The main of these ones are $\mathcal{T}_1$ and $\mathcal{T}_2$ equivalents of the Fermat-Wiles theorem.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain two new points of contact between Jacob's ladders and Fermat-Wiles theorem. They are generated by a logarithmic modification of the Hardy-Littlewood integral. Furthermore, we present a kind of asymptotic laws of conservation for a set of areas connected with above mentioned modification of the Hardy-Littlewood integral.

Abstract:We derive some Hodge integral identities by taking various limits of the Mariño-Vafa formula using the cut-and-join equation. These identities include the formula of generalλg\lambda _g-integrals, the formula ofλg−1\lambda _{g-1}-integrals onM¯g,1{\overline {\mathcal {M}}}_{g,1}, the formula of cubicλ\lambdaintegrals onM¯g{\overline {\mathcal {M}}}_g, and the ELSV formula relating Hurwitz numbers and Hodge integrals. In particular, our proof of the MV formula by the cut-and-join equation leads to a new and simple proof of theλg\lambda _gconjecture. We also present a proof of the ELSV formula completely parallel to our proof of the Mariño-Vafa formula.

Abstract:In this paper we describe a proof of the formulas of Witten [W1], [W2] about the symplectic volumes and the intersection numbers of the moduli spaces of principal bundles on a compact Riemann surface. It is known that these formulas give all the information needed for the Verlinde formula. The main idea of the proof is to use the heat kernel on compact Lie groups, in a way very similar to the heat kernel proof of the Atiyah-Singer index formula and the Atiyah-Bott fixed point formula. The Reidemeister torsion comes into the picture, through a beautiful observation of Witten, as the symplectic volume of the moduli space. It plays the role similar to that played by the Ray-Singer torsion in the path-integral computations on the space of connections. The basic idea is as follows. Consider a smooth map between two compact smooth manifolds f : M → N . Let H(t, x, x0) be the heat kernel of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on N with x0 a fixed regular value of f . Abstract:In this paper we obtain a new-type formula - \emph{a mixed formula} - which connects the functions $|\zeta(1/2+it)|$ and $\arg\zeta(1/2+it)$. This formula cannot be obtained in the classical theory of A. Selberg, and, all the less, in the theories of Balasubramanian, Heath-Brown and Ivic.

Abstract:The notion of the Jacob's ladders, reversely iterated integrals and the $\zeta$-factorization is used in this paper in order to obtain new results in study of the function $\arg\zf$. Namely, we obtain new formulae for non-local and non-linear interaction of the functions $|\zf|$ and $\arg\zf$, and also a set of metamorphoses of the oscillating Q-system.

Abstract:We study the variation of Mordell-Weil ranks in the Jacobians of curves in a pro-p tower over a fixed number field. In particular, we show that under mild conditions the Mordell-Weil rank of a Jacobian in the tower is bounded above by a constant multiple of its dimension. In the case of the tower of Fermat curves, we show that the constant can be taken arbitrarily close to 1. The main result is used in the forthcoming paper of Guillermo Mantilla-Soler on the Mordell-Weil rank of the modular Jacobian J(Np^m).

Abstract:Given a half-integral weight holomorphic Kohnen newform $f$ on $\Gamma_0(4)$, we prove an asymptotic formula for large primes $p$ with power saving error term for \begin{equation*} \sideset{}{^*} \sum_{\chi \hspace{-0.15cm} \pmod{p}} | L(1/2,f,\chi) |^2. \end{equation*} Our result is unconditional, it does not rely on the Ramanujan--Petersson conjecture for the form $f$. This gives a very sharp Lindelöf on average result for Dirichlet series attached to Hecke eigenforms without an Euler product. The Lindelöf hypothesis for such series was originally conjectured by Hoffstein. There are two main inputs. The first is a careful spectral analysis of a highly unbalanced shifted convolution problem involving the Fourier coefficients of half-integral weight forms. The second input is a bound for sums of products of Salié sums in the Polya--Vinogradov range. Half--integrality is fully exploited to establish such an estimate. We use the closed form evaluation of the Salié sum to relate our problem to the sequence $\alpha n^2 \pmod{1}$. Our treatment of this sequence is inspired by work of Rudnick--Sarnak and the second author on the local spacings of $\alpha n^2$ modulo one.

Abstract:We show that changing the level curve of a harmonic function with the classical Hadamard variation with a small parameter entails a change in the Dirichlet integral of the function which is quadratic in the parameter. As a corollary, we supplement the well-known theorem of Teichmüller about the sum of moduli of doubly connected domains into which an annulus is subdivided by a continuum that differs little from a concentric circle.
