Abstract:The formulation of quarkyonic matter consists of treating both quarks and nucleons as quasi-particles, where a cross-over transition occurs between the two phases. This work is based upon some of the early ideas of quark matter. It can satisfy the different observational constraints on the neutron star (NS), such as its maximum mass and the canonical radius. In addition, we put an extra component inside the NS known as Dark Matter (DM) because it is trapped due to its immense gravitational potential. In this work, we explore the impact of fermionic DM on the structure of the NS. The equation of state (EOS) is derived for the NS with the quarkyonic matter by assuming that nucleons and quarks are in equilibrium, followed by the relativistic mean-field (RMF) formalism. The recently modeled two parameterizations, such as G3 and IOPB-I, are taken to calculate the various macroscopic properties of the NS. The three unknown parameters such as the transition density ($n_t$), the QCD confinement scale ($\Lambda_{\rm sc}$), and the DM Fermi momentum ($k_f^{\rm DM}$) are varied to obtain the NS properties. The quarkyonic matter stiffens the EOS while DM softens it. The mutual combination provides us with good theoretical predictions for the magnitude of macroscopic properties consistent with the different observational results. Also, one can estimate the parameters of the DM admixed quarkyonic star with different statistical analyses, which can be further used to explore the other properties of the quarkyonic star.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to explore the influence of dark matter on the structure of quark - nuclear stars. Specifically, based on some early theories about quark matter, the authors proposed a quark - nuclear matter model with quarks and nucleons as quasiparticles. In this model, there is a cross - over transition between quarks and nucleons, that is, under high - density conditions, nucleons will decompose into quarks. In addition, the authors assume that there is dark matter inside neutron stars because these dark matter are trapped by their huge gravitational potential wells. By introducing the relativistic mean - field (RMF) formalism, they studied the influence of fermionic dark matter on the structure of neutron stars, especially on the macroscopic properties such as the mass, radius and tidal deformability of neutron stars. ### Main research contents: 1. **Theoretical framework**: - **Nuclear model**: Use the effective relativistic mean - field (E - RMF) theory to describe the properties of nuclear matter. - **Quark - nuclear model**: Based on the quark - nuclear model proposed by McLerran and Reddy, consider the cross - over transition between quarks and nucleons. - **Dark matter model**: Assume that dark matter interacts with nucleons and quarks through the Higgs portal mechanism. 2. **Equation of state (EOS)**: - Derive the equation of state (EOS) of neutron stars containing quark - nuclear matter and dark matter. - Study the influence of different parameters (such as the transition density \(n_t\), the QCD confinement scale \(\Lambda_{cs}\) and the dark matter fermi momentum \(k_{f}^{DM}\)) on the equation of state. 3. **Results and discussion**: - **Equation of state**: Compare the equations of state under different parameter combinations and find that quark - nuclear matter hardens the equation of state, while dark matter softens it. - **Causality test**: Verify the causality of the model to ensure that the speed does not exceed the speed of light. - **Mass - radius relationship**: Analyze the mass - radius relationship of neutron stars under different parameters and find that the combination of quark - nuclear matter and dark matter provides theoretical predictions consistent with the observational data. - **Tidal deformability and moment of inertia**: Study the tidal deformability and moment of inertia of neutron stars to further verify the rationality of the model. ### Main conclusions: - Quark - nuclear matter hardens the equation of state, while dark matter softens it. The combination of the two can provide the macroscopic properties of neutron stars consistent with the observational data. - By adjusting different parameters, the parameters of quark - nuclear stars with mixed dark matter can be estimated, and other properties can be further explored. ### Formula display: - **Energy density**: \[ E_{BM}=\sum_{i = n,p}g_s\frac{1}{(2\pi)^3}\int_0^{k_f^i}d^3k\sqrt{k^2 + M_i^{*2}}+\frac{n_b g_\omega\omega}{2}+\frac{m_\sigma^2\sigma^2}{2}\left(1+\frac{\kappa_3g_\sigma\sigma}{3!M_{nucl}}+\frac{\kappa_4g_\sigma^2\sigma^2}{4!M_{nucl}^2}\right)-\frac{1}{4!}\zeta_0g_\omega^2\omega^4-\frac{1}{2}m_\omega^2\omega^2\left(1+\frac{\eta_1g_\sigma\sigma}{M_{nucl}}+\frac{\eta_2g_\sigma^2\sigma^2}{2M_{nucl}^2}\right)+\frac{1}{2}n_3g_\rho\rho-\frac{1}{2}\left(1+\frac{\eta_\rho g_\sigma\sigma}{M_{nucl}}\right)m_\rho^2\rho^2-\Lambda_\omega g_\rho^2g_\o \]
