Abstract:Given a mixed Hodge module $\mathcal{N}$ and a meromorphic function $f$ on a complex manifold, we associate to these data a filtration (the irregular Hodge filtration) on the exponentially twisted holonomic module $\mathcal{N}\otimes \mathcal{E}^{f}$ , which extends the construction of Esnault et al. ( $E_{1}$ -degeneration of the irregular Hodge filtration (with an appendix by Saito), J. reine angew. Math. (2015), doi: 10.1515/crelle-2014-0118 ). We show the strictness of the push-forward filtered ${\mathcal{D}}$ -module through any projective morphism ${\it\pi}:X\rightarrow Y$ , by using the theory of mixed twistor ${\mathcal{D}}$ -modules of Mochizuki. We consider the example of the rescaling of a regular function $f$ , which leads to an expression of the irregular Hodge filtration of the Laplace transform of the Gauss–Manin systems of $f$ in terms of the Harder–Narasimhan filtration of the Kontsevich bundles associated with $f$ .

Abstract:The first part of the paper contains a detailed proof of M. Saito's generalization of the Kodaira vanishing theorem, following the original argument and with ample background, based on a lecture given at a Clay workshop on mixed Hodge modules. The second part contains some recent applications, and a Kawamata-Viehweg-type statement in the setting of mixed Hodge modules.

Abstract:Fedorov and Sabbah--Yu calculated the (irregular) Hodge numbers of hypergeometric connections. In this paper, we study the irregular Hodge filtrations on hypergeometric connections defined by rational parameters, and provide a new proof of the aforementioned results. Our approach is based on a geometric interpretation of hypergeometric connections, which enables us to show that certain hypergeometric sums are everywhere ordinary on $|\mathbb{G}_{m,\mathbb{F}_p}|$ (i.e. "Frobenius Newton polygon equals to irregular Hodge polygon").

Unitary representations of real groups and localization theory for Hodge modules

Abstract:We prove a conjecture of Schmid and the second named author that the unitarity of a representation of a real reductive Lie group with real infinitesimal character can be read off from a canonical filtration, the Hodge filtration. Our proof rests on three main ingredients. The first is a wall crossing theory for mixed Hodge modules: the key result is that, in certain natural families, the Hodge filtration varies semi-continuously with jumps controlled by extension functors. The second ingredient is a Hodge-theoretic refinement of Beilinson-Bernstein localization: we show that the Hodge filtration of a mixed Hodge module on the flag variety satisfies the usual cohomology vanishing and global generation properties enjoyed by the underlying $\mathcal{D}$-module. The third ingredient is an explicit calculation of the Hodge filtration on a tempered Hodge module. As byproducts of our work, we obtain a version of Saito's Kodaira vanishing for twisted mixed Hodge modules, a calculation of the Hodge filtration on a certain object in category $\mathcal{O}$, and a host of new vanishing results for coherent sheaves on flag varieties.

Abstract:In this paper we study mixed Hodge structures on the cohomology of locally symmetric varieties and give an application to modular forms. After proving vanishing of some Hodge numbers, we focus on the weight filtration on the last Hodge subspace of the middle degree cohomology. We prove that the weight filtration coincides with the corank filtration on the space of modular forms of canonical weight defined by the Siegel operators, and calculate the graded quotients. As an application, we deduce surjectivity of the total Siegel operators in many cases, and identify an obstruction space in the remaining case.

Abstract:Let $f: X \to \mathbb{A}^1$ be a regular function on a smooth complex algebraic variety $X$. We formulate and prove an equivalence between the algebraic formal twisted de Rham complex of $f$ and the vanishing cycles with respect to $f$ as objects in the category of sheaves valued in the derived $\infty$-category of modules over $\widehat{\mathscr{E}}_{\mathbb{C},0}^{\mathrm{alg}}$, the ring of germs of algebraic formal microdifferential operators. This is a direct generalization of Kontsevich's conjecture, proven in work by Sabbah and then Sabbah--Saito, of an algebraic formula computing vanishing cohomology. The novelty in our approach is the introduction of a canonical $V$-filtration on the derived $\infty$-category of regular holonomic $\mathscr{D}_{\mathbb{C},0}$-modules, and the use of various techniques from the theory of higher categories and higher algebra in the context of the subject of microdifferential calculus.

Abstract:We prove the decomposition theorem for Hodge modules with integral structure along proper Kähler morphisms, partially generalizing M. Saito's theorem for projective morphisms. Our proof relies on compactifications of period maps of generically defined variations of Hodge structure, as well as the theorems of Cattani-Kaplan-Schmid on $L^2$-cohomology of variations of Hodge structure for the hard Lefschetz theorem.

Abstract:We consider a filtration on the cohomology of the structure sheaf indexed by (not necessarily reduced) divisors ``at infinity''. We show that the filtered pieces have transfers morphisms, fpqc descent, and are so called cube invariant. In the presence of resolution of singularities and weak factorisation they are invariant under blowup ``at infinity''. As such, they lead to a realisation functor from Kahn, Miyazaki, Saito and Yamazaki's category of motives with modulus over a characteristic zero base field.

Abstract:Let $\textbf{H} = ((H, F^{\bullet}), L)$ be a polarized variation of Hodge structure on a smooth quasi-projective variety $U.$ By M. Saito's theory of mixed Hodge modules, the variation of Hodge structure $\textbf{H}$ can be viewed as a polarized Hodge module $\mathcal{M} \in HM(U).$ Let $X$ be a compactification of $U,$ and $j:U \hookrightarrow X$ is the natural map. In this paper, we use local cohomology with mixed Hodge module theory to study $j_{+}\mathcal{M} \in D^{b}MHM(X).$ In particular, we study the graded pieces of the de Rham complex $Gr^{F}_{p}DR(j_{+}\mathcal{M}) \in D^{b}_{coh}(X),$ and the Hodge structure of $H^{i}(U,L)$ for $i$ in sufficiently low degrees.

Fourier transforms of irregular holonomic D-modules, singularities at infinity of meromorphic functions and irregular characteristic cycles

Abstract:Based on the recent developments in the irregular Riemann-Hilbert correspondence for holonomic D-modules and the Fourier-Sato transforms for enhanced ind-sheaves, we study the Fourier transforms of some irregular holonomic D-modules. For this purpose, the singularities of rational and meromorphic functions on complex affine varieties will be studied precisely, with the help of some new methods and tools such as meromorphic vanishing cycle functors. As a consequence, we show that the exponential factors and the irregularities of the Fourier transform of a holonomic D-module are described geometrically by the stationary phase method, as in the classical case of dimension one. A new feature in the higher-dimensional case is that we have some extra rank jump of the Fourier transform produced by the singularities of the linear perturbations of the exponential factors at their points of indeterminacy. In the course of our study, not necessarily homogeneous Lagrangian cycles that we call irregular characteristic cycles will play a crucial role.

Abstract:In this article we are interested in morphisms without slope for mixed Hodge modules. We first show the commutativity of iterated nearby cycles and vanishing cycles applied to a mixed Hodge module in the case of a morphism without slope. Then we define the notion "strictly without slope" for a mixed Hodge module and we show the preservation of this condition under the direct image by a proper morphism. As an application we prove the compatibility of the Hodge filtration and Kashiwara-Malgrange filtrations for some pure Hodge modules with support an hypersurface with quasi-ordinary singularities.

Abstract:We study generalized $V$-filtrations, defined by Sabbah, on $\mathcal D$-modules underlying mixed Hodge modules on $X\times \mathbf A^r$. Using cyclic covers, we compare these filtrations to the usual $V$-filtration, which is better understood. The main result shows that these filtrations can be used to compute $\sigma^!$, where $\sigma \colon X \times \{0\} \to X \times \mathbf A^r$ is the inclusion of the zero section. As an application, we use the restriction result to study singularities of complete intersection subvarieties. These filtrations can be used to study the local cohomology mixed Hodge module. In particular, we classify when weighted homogeneous isolated complete intersection singularities in $\mathbf A^n$ are $k$-Du Bois and $k$-rational.

Applications are given to several types of singularities arising in KSBA and GIT compactifications and mirror symmetry, including nodes on odd-dimensional hypersurfaces, $k$-log-canonical and $k$-rational singularities, and singularities with Calabi-Yau tail.

Abstract:Frenkel and Gross constructed a family of connections on $\mathbb{P}^1\backslash\{0,\infty\}$, for almost simple groups $\check{G}$ and their representations. In this article, we calculate the irregular Hodge numbers of these Frenkel--Gross connections, and, as an application, we prove a conjecture of Katzarkov--Kontsevich--Pantev for mirror Landau-Ginzburg models of minuscule homogeneous spaces.

Abstract:T. Mochizuki constructs a theory of variations of wild Hodge structure for which the underlying flat connection can have irregular singularities at infinity. He extends in this way the correspondence of Corlette and Simpson between irreducible flat bundles and stables Higgs bundles, taking into account objects with irregular singularities. As an application, he proves a conjecture of Kashiwara concerning a generalization of the Hard Lefschetz theorem when the coefficients are the de Rham complex of a simple holonomic D-module on smooth complex projective variety.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a complex reductive group, $\theta \colon G \to G$ an involution, and $K = G^\theta$. In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1206.5547" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1206.5547">arXiv:1206.5547</a>, W. Schmid and the second named author proposed a program to study unitary representations of the corresponding real form $G_\mathbb{R}$ using $K$-equivariant twisted mixed Hodge modules on the flag variety of $G$ and their polarizations. In this paper, we make the first significant steps towards implementing this program. Our first main result gives an explicit combinatorial formula for the Hodge numbers appearing in the composition series of a standard module in terms of the Lusztig-Vogan polynomials. Our second main result is a polarized version of the Jantzen conjecture, stating that the Jantzen forms on the composition factors are polarizations of the underlying Hodge modules. Our third main result states that, for regular Beilinson-Bernstein data, the minimal $K$-type of an irreducible Harish-Chandra module lies in the lowest piece of the Hodge filtration of the corresponding Hodge module. An immediate consequence of our results is a Hodge-theoretic proof of the signature multiplicity formula of <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1212.2192" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1212.2192">arXiv:1212.2192</a>, which was the inspiration for this work.

Abstract:We define a notion of Hodge modules with rational singularities. A variety has rational singularities in the usual sense, if it is normal and the Hodge module related to intersection cohomology has rational singularities in the present sense. Our main result is a generalization of Boutot's theorem that if a reductive group acts on an affine variety with a stable point, and $H$ is an equivariant Hodge module with rational singularities, then the induced module on the GIT quotient also has rational singularities.

Abstract:We prove that the relative log de Rham cohomology groups of a projective semistable log smooth degeneration admit a natural \textit{limiting} mixed Hodge structure. More precisely, we construct a family of increasing filtrations and a family of nilpotent endomorphisms on the relative log de Rham cohomology groups and show that they satisfy a part of good properties of a nilpotnet orbit in several variables.

Abstract:We study the vanishing of (co)homology along ring homomorphisms for modules that admit certain filtrations, and generalize a theorem of O. Celikbas-Takahashi. Our work produces new classes of rigid and test modules, in particular over local rings of prime characteristic. It also gives applications in the study of torsion in tensor products of modules, for example, concerning the Huneke-Wiegand conjecture.
