Abstract:A decoration of a hyperbolic surface of finite type is a choice of circle, horocycle or hypercycle about each cone-point, cusp or flare of the surface, respectively. In this article we show that a decoration induces a unique canonical tessellation and dual decomposition of the underlying surface. They are analogues of the weighted Delaunay tessellation and Voronoi decomposition in the Euclidean plane. We develop a characterisation in terms of the hyperbolic geometric equivalents of Delaunay's empty-discs and Laguerre's tangent-distance, also known as power-distance. Furthermore, the relation between the tessellations and convex hulls in Minkowski space is presented, generalising the Epstein-Penner convex hull construction. This relation allows us to extend Weeks' flip algorithm to the case of decorated finite type hyperbolic surfaces. Finally, we give a simple description of the configuration space of decorations and show that any fixed hyperbolic surface only admits a finite number of combinatorially different canonical tessellations.

Abstract:For any twisted ideal polygon in $\mathbb{H}^3$, we construct a harmonic map from $\mathbb{C}$ to $\mathbb{H}^3$ with a polynomial Hopf differential, that is asymptotic to the given polygon, and is a bounded distance from a pleated plane. Our proof uses the harmonic map heat flow. We also show that such a harmonic map is unique once we prescribe the principal part of its Hopf differential.

Abstract:Given the importance of hyperbolic quantum color codes and Euclidean quantum color codes, this paper considers the study of the former codes on compact surfaces with genus from the mathematical point of view. Identifying the normal subgroup in the decomposition of the full symmetry group of the tessellation is relevant because it provides the algebraic structure for identifying and constructing a class of linear shrunk hyperbolic quantum color codes. Under this assumption, the normal subgroup's presentation, the whole process's kernel, is derived from the Reidemeister–Schreier method. As a result, we present a class of regular normal hyperbolic quantum color codes derived from the tessellation with encoding rate going asymptotically to 1. The regular tessellation includes the two types of tessellations: (1) the densest tessellation when and (2) the tessellation when , for . An analysis of the minimum distance achieved by this class of regular normal hyperbolic quantum color codes is performed.

Abstract:HYPERTILING is a high-performance Python library for the generation and visualization of regular hyperbolic lattices embedded in the Poincaré disk model. Using highly optimized, efficient algorithms, hyperbolic tilings with millions of vertices can be created in a matter of minutes on a single workstation computer. Facilities including computation of adjacent vertices, dynamic lattice manipulation, refinements, as well as powerful plotting and animation capabilities are provided to support advanced uses of hyperbolic graphs. In this manuscript, we present a comprehensive exploration of the package, encompassing its mathematical foundations, usage examples, applications, and a detailed description of its implementation.

$Φ^p$ Amplitudes from the Positive Tropical Grassmannian: Triangulations of Extended Diagrams

Abstract:The global Schwinger formula, introduced by Cachazo and Early as a single integral over the positive tropical Grassmannian, provides a way to uncover properties of scattering amplitudes which are hard to see in their standard Feynman diagram formulation. In a recent work, Cachazo and one of the authors extended the global Schwinger formula to general $\phi^p$ theories. When $p=4$, it was conjectured that the integral decomposes as a sum over cones which are in bijection with non-crossing chord diagrams, and further that these can be obtained by finding the zeroes of a piece-wise linear function, $H(x)$. In this note we give a proof of this conjecture. We also present a purely combinatorial way of computing $\phi^p$ amplitudes by triangulating a trivial extended version of non-crossing $(p-2)$-chord diagrams, called extended diagrams, and present a proof of the bijection between triangulated extended diagrams and Feynman diagrams when $p=4$. This is reminiscent of recent constructions using Stokes polytopes and accordiohedra. However, the $\phi^p$ amplitude is now partitioned by a new collection of objects, each of which characterizes a polyhedral cone in the positive tropical Grassmannian in the form of an associahedron or of an intersection of two associahedra. Moreover, we comment on the bijection between extended diagrams and double-ordered biadjoint scalar amplitudes. We also conjecture the form of the general piece-wise linear function, $H^{\phi^p}(x)$, whose zeroes generate the regions in which the $\phi^p$ global Schwinger formula decomposes into.

Abstract:Wigner's unitary representation of the Lorentz group is extended to a representation of the complex orthosymplectic Lie super group OSp_C(1|2) acting on Minkowski (3,1|4)-dimensional super space essentially by Hermitean conjugation. The invariant quadratic form is [x_1 x_2-x xbar+phi psi+phibar psibar] in Wigner's real coordinates x_1,x_2 and complex coordinate x, where phi and psi are Dirac fermions. The extended action is linear in the super space variables, but not quadratic in the odd group variables, and is described by an explicit even purely imaginary auxiliary parameter defined on the product of the Lie super group with its Lie algebra. This extension of Wigner's representation opens the door to studying geometry in super hyperbolic three-space, initiated here with foundations on super geodesics, triangles and tetrahedra, and culminating in a proof of divergence of the volume of a typical ideal tetrahedron and a discussion of the non-zero fermionic correction to the Schlaefli formula.

Surface Quotients of Right-Angled Hyperbolic Buildings

Abstract:Hyperbolic buildings are central objects in both hyperbolic geometry and geometric group theory, exhibiting a wide range of intriguing characteristics, especially with respect to group actions. In this paper, we develop the theory of surface quotients of Fuchsian buildings. For a large family of Fuchsian buildings, we prove the existence of a discrete subgroup $\Gamma$ of the automorphism group of the Fuchsian building whose quotient is a compact surface without boundary. We also provide some necessary conditions for the existence of such lattices, in terms of the symmetries of the building. The proof is based on another result of ours that generators of the fundamental group of a tessellated surface can be chose by closed geodesics in the 1-skeleton of the tessellation, which is of independent interest.

Abstract:We first briefly summarize several well-known properties of regular tessellations of the three two-dimensional maximally symmetric manifolds, E2, S2, and H2, by bounded regular tiles. For instance, there exist infinitely many regular tessellations of the hyperbolic plane H2 by curved hyperbolic equilateral triangles whose vertex angles are 2π/d for d=7,8,9,... On the other hand, we prove that there is no curved hyperbolic regular tetrahedron which tessellates the three-dimensional hyperbolic space H3. We also show that a regular tessellation of H3 can only consist of the hyperbolic cubes, hyperbolic regular icosahedra, or two types of hyperbolic regular dodecahedra. There exist only two regular hyperbolic space-fillers of H4. If n>4, then there exists no regular tessellation of Hn.

Abstract:Gross, Kohnen and Zagier proved an averaged version of the algebraicity conjecture for special values of higher Green's functions on modular curves. In this work, we study an analogous problem for special values of Green's functions on hyperbolic $3$-space. We prove that their averages can be computed in terms of logarithms of primes and logarithms of units in real quadratic fields. Moreover, we study twisted averages of special values of Green's functions, which yield algebraic numbers instead of logarithms.

Abstract:Flips of diagonals in colored triangle-free triangulations of a convex polygon are interpreted as moves between two adjacent chambers in a certain graphic hyperplane arrangement. Properties of geodesics in the associated flip graph are deduced. In particular, it is shown that: (1) every diagonal is flipped exactly once in a geodesic between distinguished pairs of antipodes; (2) the number of geodesics between these antipodes is equal to twice the number of Young tableaux of a truncated shifted staircase shape.

Here we use the Hecke group $H_4$ to study the regular map that underlies Bring's surface of genus 4. Our main result is the determination of the 20-sided hyperbolic polygon that gives Bring's surface.

Abstract:Inspired by the recent work of Nima Arkani Hamed and collaborators who introduced the notion of positive geometry to account for the structure of tree-level scattering amplitudes in bi-adjoint $\phi^3$ theory, which led to one-loop descriptions of the integrands. Here we consider the one-loop integrals themselves in $\phi^3$ theory. In order to achieve this end, the geometrical construction offered by Schnetz for Feynman diagrams is hereby extended, and the results are presented. The extension relies on masking the loop momentum variable with a constant and proceeding with the calculations. The results appear as a construction given in a diagrammatic manner. The significance of the resulting triangular diagrams is that they have a common side amongst themselves for the corresponding Feynman diagrams they pertain to. Further extensions to this mathematical construction can lead to additional insights into higher loops. A mathematica code has been provided in order to generate the final results given the initial parameters of the theory.

We prove the Algebraic Green-Griffiths-Lang Conjecture for these complements, and in the case of the complement of a quartic plane curve, we completely characterize the exceptional locus as the union of the flex and bitangent lines.

More precisely, viewing $$\mathbb {C}^{1|1}$$ as the boundary of the hyperbolic superspace $$\mathcal {H}^{3|2}$$, we reexpress the super-Green functions on the supersphere $$\hat{\mathbb {C}}^{1|1}$$ and the supertorus $$T^{1|1}$$ by some data derived from the supergeodesics in $$\mathcal {H}^{3|2}$$.

Abstract:The cosmological polytope of a graph $G$ was recently introduced to give a geometric approach to the computation of wavefunctions for cosmological models with associated Feynman diagram $G$. Basic results in the theory of positive geometries dictate that this wavefunction may be computed as a sum of rational functions associated to the facets in a triangulation of the cosmological polytope. The normalized volume of the polytope then provides a complexity estimate for these computations. In this paper, we examine the (Ehrhart) $h^\ast$-polynomial of cosmological polytopes. We derive recursive formulas for computing the $h^\ast$-polynomial of disjoint unions and $1$-sums of graphs. The degree of the $h^\ast$-polynomial for any $G$ is computed and a characterization of palindromicity is given. Using these observations, a tight lower bound on the $h^\ast$-polynomial for any $G$ is identified and explicit formulas for the $h^\ast$-polynomials of multitrees and multicycles are derived. The results generalize the existing results on normalized volumes of cosmological polytopes. A tight upper bound and a combinatorial formula for the $h^\ast$-polynomial of any cosmological polytope are conjectured.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to present conjectures that extend to any "triangular" partitions (partitions "under any line" in the terminology of Blasiak-Haiman-Morse-Pun-Seelinger), properties of the Frobenius transform of multivariate diagonal harmonics modules. In their simplest version, these last modules correspond to the special case of "staircase" partitions, that is of the form (n−1,n−2,...,1) . The conjectures are motivated and supported both by extensive experimental computer algebra calculations, as well as stability properties.

Abstract:To each once-punctured-torus bundle, Tφ, over the circle with pseudo-Anosov monodromy φ, there are associated two tessellations of the complex plane: one, Δ(φ), is (the projection from ∞ of) the triangulation of a horosphere at ∞ induced by the canonical decomposition into ideal tetrahedra, and the other, CW(φ), is a fractal tessellation given by the Cannon–Thurston map of the fiber group switching back and forth between gray and white each time it passes through ∞. Abstract:We derive explicit representation formulae of Green functions for GJMS operators on $n$-spheres, including the fractional ones. These formulae have natural geometric interpretations concerning the extrinsic geometry of the round sphere. Conversely, we discover that this special feature uniquely characterizes spheres among closed embedded hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$. Furthermore, for $n=3,4,5$ we prove a strong rigidity theorem for Green functions of hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ using the Positive Mass Theorem.
