Abstract:Developed a self-description questionnaire (SDQ)—a self-concept instrument designed to measure 7 components of self-concept derived from RJ Shavelson's model (see PA, Vols 60: 10429 and 68: 2201). Separate factor analyses of responses by 658 2nd–5th grade children all clearly identified the 7 SDQ factors, and correlations among these factors were consistent with the hierarchical organization of self-concept hypothesized by Shavelson.
