Abstract:Hypothesis: Before modern imaging was introduced, revision surgery was the only way to evaluate possible reasons for inadequate improvement in hearing after ossicular replacement during reconstructive middle ear surgery. Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate freely navigable virtual tympanoscopy using different computed tomographic modalities. We compared cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), flat panel computed tomography (FPCT), and conventional computed tomography in helical mode (CTH), volume mode (CTV), and ultra high resolution mode (CTD). Methods: Four temporal bone specimens were reconstructed with partial or total ossicular replacement prostheses. The best functional results for prosthetic coupling were achieved under the control of laser Doppler vibrometry (LDV). Afterward, a progressive step-by-step decoupling of the prostheses was carried out. Different prosthesis positions were evaluated by LDV as well as different computed tomographic modalities with 3D reconstruction of each dataset. Results: Anatomical structures were better depicted and the best position and coupling of inserted prostheses were achieved using CBCT. All imaging techniques could be used to control the position of middle ear prostheses, but CBCT provided the highest resolution and the best image quality in both 2D and 3D reformations and in 3D-animated video representation. Conclusion: Compared with several other imaging modalities, CBCT was best at depicting miscellaneous coupling problems. Noninvasive detection of coupling problems caused by minimal loss of contact between prostheses and middle ear ossicles will influence the clinical outcome. This early detection will help to determine whether revision surgery is needed.
Titanium and Platinum–Fluoroplastic Stapes Prostheses Visualization on Cone Beam Computed Tomography and High-Resolution Computed Tomography

Abstract:Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether stapes prostheses can be visualized with less metal artifacts and therefore more accurately on cone beam computed tomography in comparison to computed tomography imaging. Recent studies have shown that cone beam computed tomography has advantages when imaging metal artifacts. Patients with hearing loss or vertigo, who have undergone stapedotomy, often present a challenge for otologic surgeons. Imaging studies can deliver crucial additional information. Methods: A retrospective analysis of imaging studies and clinical data in a tertiary care center were carried out. Forty-one patients with forty-five implanted ears were evaluated in the study. All included patients had been implanted with a platinum–fluoroplastic (n = 19) or titanium (n = 26) piston and subsequently had undergone imaging months or years after surgery for various reasons. Patients underwent computed tomography or cone beam computed tomography of the temporal bone depending on availability. Piston visualization, prosthesis length, vestibular intrusion and audiologic results were compared between the groups. Piston position on imaging studies were compared to intraoperative findings. Results: Functional length measurements of all prostheses were carried out with a mean error of −0.17 mm (±0.20). Platinum–fluoroplastic protheses were significantly underestimated in length compared to titanium prostheses. To analyze the material-dependent difference in the measurement errors of the imaging techniques the interaction was tested in an ANOVA model and showed no statistically significant result (p = 0.24). The blinded neuroradiologist viewed two implants, both platinum–fluoroplastic pistons, as located outside of the vestibule due to an underestimation of the prothesis length and the missing radiodensity of the lower end of the prosthesis. Conclusion: Surgeons and radiologists should be aware of the different types and radiologic features of stapes prostheses and the missing radiodensity of some protheses parts. Cone beam computed tomography is an imaging alternative with a potential advantage of reduced radiation in patients after stapes surgery suffering from vertigo or hearing loss to evaluate piston position.
Ultra-high-resolution CT of the temporal bone: Comparison between deep learning reconstruction and hybrid and model-based iterative reconstruction

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of ultra-high-resolution computed tomography (UHR-CT) to assess stapes and chorda tympani nerve anatomy using a deep learning (DLR), a model-based, and a hybrid iterative reconstruction algorithm compared to simulated conventional CT. Materials and methods CT acquisitions were performed with a Mercury 4.0 phantom. Images were acquired with a 1024 × 1024 matrix and a 0.25 mm slice thickness and reconstructed using DLR, model-based, and hybrid iterative reconstruction algorithms. To simulate conventional CT, images were also reconstructed with a 512 × 512 matrix and a 0.5 mm slice thickness. Spatial resolution, noise power spectrum, and objective high-contrast detectability were compared. Three radiologists evaluated the clinical acceptability of these algorithms by assessing the thickness and image quality of the stapes footplate and superstructure elements, as well as the image quality of the chorda tympani nerve bony and tympanic segments using a 5-point confidence scale on 13 temporal bone CT examinations reconstructed with the four algorithms. Results UHR-CT provided higher spatial resolution than simulated conventional CT at the penalty of higher noise. DLR and model-based iterative reconstruction provided better noise reduction than hybrid iterative reconstruction, and DLR had the highest detectability index, regardless of the dose level. All stapedial structure thicknesses were thinner using UHR-CT by comparison with conventional simulated CT ( P < 0.009). DLR showed the best visualization scores compared to the other reconstruction algorithms ( P < 0.032). Conclusion UHR-CT with DLR results in less noise than UHR-CT with hybrid iterative reconstruction and significantly improves stapes and tympanic chorda tympani nerve depiction compared to simulated conventional CT and UHR-CT with iterative reconstruction.

Abstract:High-resolution CT enables exact visualisation of the bony structures of the petrous bone; at the same time, all relevant nerval, vascular and muscular elements of the middle and inner ear are visualised. A wider range of findings can be attained in this region of wide differences in density than via conventional pluridirectional tomography. The normal anatomy of the petrous bone is demonstrated via CT series of slices in axial and coronal projection.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to examine and assess the comparative values of HRCT-based multiplanar reformation (MPR), volume rendering (VR) and virtual endoscope built on three-dimensional shaded-surface display (SSD-based CTVE) for evaluations of the ossicular chain. The normal pure tone audiograms, type-A tympanogram, and normal HRCT characteristics of 32 human ears of 18 patients were reviewed, whose ossicular chains were reconstructed with the three aforementioned protocols and assessed via the 3-point scoring system. The HRCT-based protocols could demonstrate a 3D image of the ossicular chain, except that of the footplate on the SSD-based CTVE. On the qualitative assessment, the efficacy of the MPR and VR, which were both superior to the SSD-based CTVE (P < 0.05), presented no statistical significance among the major and/or hyperdense structures (P > 0.05). As regards the lateral process of the malleus, VR was found to be significantly superior to the MPR and SSD-based CTVE (P < 0.05), both of which, however, showed no significant comparative differences (P > 0.05). Moreover, the three protocols in terms of efficacy were comparatively different in their representations of the anterior crus and footplates of the stapes, respectively (P < 0.05). On the MPR images, not all the images of the lenticular process were ideal; 20 of 32 cases were detected, but not defined. VR could be the more valuable protocol for the 3D reconstruction of the ossicular chain and ought to be more employed in future, especially in education.

Abstract:Conclusions: Multislice computed tomography (MSCT) virtual endoscopy was useful in evaluating mainly post-traumatic and postoperative cases. In other pathological conditions axial images and MPR reformations were most useful. Objectives: Evaluation of cross-sectional images, multiplanar 2-D reformations, 3-D reconstructions and virtual endoscopy (VE) in assessment of the middle ear in inflammatory diseases, trauma, otosclerosis and tumours. Comparison of each method and correlation with surgical findings. Materials and methods: Investigations were carried out in 80 patients with middle ear pathology. In each case MSCT of the petrous bone was performed. In addition to cross-sectional native scans, frontal and sagittal images were achieved using MPR reconstructions. 3-D volume rendering (VR) and VE images were also generated. The value of native scans information, 2-D, 3-D reconstructions and VE of the tympanic cavity structures was assessed in comparison to intraoperative findings. Results: MPR reconstructions were most useful in the assessment of skull base trauma, skull base tumours and in cases of chronic middle ear inflammation. Highly vascularized tumours, disruption of ossicular chain and stapes prosthesis were best evaluated on 3-D reconstructions. Axial images proved to be the best for otosclerosis interpretation.
An experimental study on the ability of newly developed CT equipment for temporal bone to display fine bony anatomy

Abstract:Objective:To verify the ability of the newly developed ultra-high resolution CT (U-HRCT) for displaying the fine bony anatomy of temporal bone.Methods:The cone-beam CT architecture was used on U-HRCT. The focus size of X-ray generator was 0.27 mm × 0.29 mm, the rated tube voltage was 60-100 kV, and the unit size of flat panel detector was 0.074 8 mm×0.074 8 mm. From October to December 2019, 16 adult head specimens (32 temporal bones, provided by Huanghe University of Science and Technology) were imaged using U-HRCT. The scanning mode was small-field-of-view and high-resolution scanning for unilateral temporal bone. The scanning parameters were: voltage 100 kV, current 3.5 mA, rotation time 40 s, reconstructed field of view 65 mm×65 mm, voxel size 0.1 mm×0.1 mm×0.1 mm, layer number 370, slice thickness 0.1 mm, and slice interval 0.1 mm. The ultimate spatial resolution of the system was detected using a phantom with line pair card, after the scanning with the same parameters. Through multi-planar reconstruction and minimum intensity projection method, a total of 6 anatomical positions of 4 structures (stapes footplate, cochlear axis bottom, vestibular aqueduct internal orifice and isthmus, cochlear aqueduct internal orifice and auditory sac segment) were scored with 1-3 points. The Wilcoxon test was used to compare the difference of bilateral scores of each structure.Results:The phantom test results showed that the ultimate spatial resolution of the system was ≥4.0 lp/mm. The scores of stapes footplate, cochlear axis bottom and vestibular aqueduct internal orifice were ≥2 points, with a display rate of 100%. The display rates of vestibular aqueduct isthmus, cochlear aqueduct internal orifice and auditory sac segment were 87.5% (28/32), 71.9% (23/32) and 53.1% (17/32), respectively. There were no significant differences in left and right scores of all anatomical structures ( P>0.05). Conclusion:The newly developed U-HRCT has good display ability for fine bony anatomy of temporal bone and has great clinical application potential.
A LEARNING CURVE IN AORTIC DISSECTION SURGERY WITH THE USE OF CUMULATIVE SUM ANALYSIS

Abstract:ABSTRACT This study demonstrates the risk adjusted cumulative sum analysis of an individual surgical learning curve for acute type A aortic dissection surgery. Thirty consecutive patients were operated by a single surgeon for acute type A aortic dissection from April 2001 to March 2008. Operative variables, mortality, and major morbidities were analyzed. The learning curve was calculated by cumulative sum analysis. The anticipated 30-day operative mortality rate was 20.2±12.7% (range, 3.3–56.7%) and the expected 30-day mortality and morbidity rate was 47.0±13.3 % (range, 21.7–70.6%) according to the Japan SCORE calculator. The observed operative and in-hospital mortality rate was 6.67% (two patients), and the observed major postoperative morbidity rate was 10.0% (three patients). Risk-adjusted cumulative sum analysis revealed that no excess deaths occurred beginning at the seventh case and thereafter. The surgeries for acute type A aortic dissection could be performed at the professionally permissive level from the beginning. Risk-adjusted cumulative sum analysis was a useful tool to monitor the performance of the surgical procedure.

Abstract:Cochlear implants (CIs) are the primary treatment method in patients with profound sensorineural hearing loss. Interpretation of postoperative imaging with conventional energy-integrating detector computed tomography (EID-CT) following CI surgery remains challenging due to metal artifacts. Still, the photon-counting detector (PCD-CT) is a new emerging technology with the potential to eliminate these problems. This study evaluated the performance of virtual monoenergetic (VME) EID-CT images versus PCD-CT in CI imaging. In this cadaveric study, two temporal bone specimens with implanted CIs were scanned with EID-CT and PCD-CT. The images were assessed according to the visibility of interelectrode wire, size of electrode contact, and diameter of halo artifacts. The visibility of interelectrode wire sections was significantly higher when reviewing PCD-CT images. The difference in diameter measurements for electrode contacts between the two CT scanner modalities showed that the PCD-CT technology generally led to significantly larger diameter readings. The larger measurements were closer to the manufacturer’s specifications for the CI electrode. The size of halo artifacts surrounding the electrode contacts did not differ significantly between the two imaging modalities. PCT-CT imaging is a promising technology for CI imaging with improved spatial resolution and better visibility of small structures than conventional EID-CT.

Visualization of the Membranous Labyrinth and Nerve Fiber Pathways in Human and Animal Inner Ears Using MicroCT Imaging

Abstract:Design and implantation of bionic implants for restoring impaired hair cell function relies on accurate knowledge about the microanatomy and nerve fiber pathways of the human inner ear and its variation. Non-destructive isotropic imaging of soft tissues of the inner ear with lab-based microscopic X-ray computed tomography (microCT) offers high resolution but requires contrast enhancement using compounds with high X-ray attenuation. We evaluated different contrast enhancement techniques in mice, cat, and human temporal bones to differentially visualize the membranous labyrinth, sensory epithelia, and their innervating nerves together with the facial nerve and middle ear. Lugol's iodine potassium iodine (I2KI) gave high soft tissue contrast in ossified specimens but failed to provide unambiguous identification of smaller nerve fiber bundles inside small bony canals. Fixation or post-fixation with osmium tetroxide followed by decalcification in EDTA provided superior contrast for nerve fibers and membranous structures. We processed 50 human temporal bones and acquired microCT scans with 15 μm voxel size. Subsequently we segmented sensorineural structures and the endolymphatic compartment for 3D representations to serve for morphometric variation analysis. We tested higher resolution image acquisition down to 3.0 μm voxel size in human and 0.5 μm in mice, which provided a unique level of detail and enabled us to visualize single neurons and hair cells in the mouse inner ear, which could offer an alternative quantitative analysis of cell numbers in smaller animals. Bigger ossified human temporal bones comprising the middle ear and mastoid bone can be contrasted with I2KI and imaged in toto at 25 μm voxel size. These data are suitable for surgical planning for electrode prototype placements. A preliminary assessment of geometric changes through tissue processing resulted in 1.6% volume increase caused during decalcification by EDTA and 0.5% volume increase caused by partial dehydration to 70% ethanol, which proved to be the best mounting medium for microCT image acquisition.
Ultra-high-resolution CT of the temporal bone: The end of stapes prosthesis dimensional error and correlation with patient symptoms

Abstract:Purpose To describe the reliability of ultra-high-resolution computed tomography (UHR-CT) in the measurement of titanium stapes prostheses using manufacturer data as a reference. Materials and methods This retrospective study included patients treated by stapedectomy with titanium prostheses who underwent UHR-CT between January 2020 and October 2023. Images were acquired using an ultra-high-resolution mode (slice thickness: 0.25 mm; matrix, 1024 × 1024). Two radiologists independently evaluated the length, diameter, and intra-vestibular protrusion of the prosthesis. Post-operative air-bone gaps (ABGs) were recorded. Results Fourteen patients were enrolled (mean age, 44.3 ± 13.8 [SD] years, 9 females), resulting in 16 temporal bone UHR-CTs. The exact length was obtained in 81.3 % (n = 13/16) and underestimated by 0.1 to 0.3 mm in the remaining 18.7 % (n = 3/16) CT scans for both readers (mean misestimation: −0.02 ± 0.06 [SD] mm, overall underestimation of 0.43 %). The exact diameter was reported in 75 % (n = 12/16) and 87.5 % (n = 14/16) of the CT scans for readers 1 and 2, respectively, and was off by 0.1 mm in all discrepancies (mean misestimation: 0.01 ± 0.04 [SD] mm, overall overestimation of 2.43 %). Intravestibular prosthesis protrusion was of 0.5 ± 0.43 [SD] mm (range: 0–1) and 0.49 ± 0.44 [SD] mm (range: 0–1.1) for readers 1 and 2, respectively, and did not correlate with ABGs (r = 0.25 and 0.22; P = 0.39 and 0.47 for readers 1 and 2, respectively). Intra and interobserver agreements were excellent. Conclusion UHR-CT provides 99.6 % and 97.6 % accuracy for prosthesis length and diameter measurements, respectively.

Abstract:Purpose: The facial recess is a delicate structure that must be protected in minimally invasive cochlear implant surgery. Current research estimates the drill trajectory by using endoscopy of the unique mastoid patterns. However, missing depth information limits available features for a registration to preoperative CT data. Therefore, this paper evaluates OCT for enhanced imaging of drill holes in mastoid bone and compares OCT data to original endoscopic images. Methods: A catheter-based OCT probe is inserted into a drill trajectory of a mastoid phantom in a translation-rotation manner to acquire the inner surface state. The images are undistorted and stitched to create volumentric data of the drill hole. The mastoid cell pattern is segmented automatically and compared to ground truth. Results: The mastoid pattern segmented on images acquired with OCT show a similarity of J = 73.6 % to ground truth based on endoscopic images and measured with the Jaccard metric. Leveraged by additional depth information, automated segmentation tends to be more robust and fail-safe compared to endoscopic images. Conclusion: The feasibility of using a clinically approved OCT probe for imaging the drill hole in cochlear implantation is shown. The resulting volumentric images provide additional information on the shape of caveties in the bone structure, which will be useful for image-to-patient registration and to estimate the drill trajectory. This will be another step towards safe minimally invasive cochlear implantation.
Effect of Matrix Size and Acquisition Mode on Image Quality and Radiation Dose of Ultra-High-Resolution CT of the Temporal Bone: An Anatomical Study

Abstract:Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal, Ahead of Print. Purpose: To compare image quality and radiation exposure between super- and ultra-high-resolution helical and super-high-resolution volumetric CT of the temporal bone. Methods: Six cadaveric temporal bone specimens were used to evaluate key temporal bone structures using the following CT reconstruction and acquisition modes: helical and single-volume acquisition modes in super-high resolution (0.25-mm slice thickness, 10242 matrix), and helical mode in ultra-high resolution (0.25-mm slice thickness, 20482 matrix). Two observers performed 5 previously described preoperative measurements, measured noise and signal-to-noise ratios for air, and noise for bone, and rated the visualization of 5 anatomical structures on a 4-point scale, for each reconstruction mode. Radiation dose exposure was recorded for each examination. Results: There was no significant difference between any of the quantitative or qualitative measurements in any of the reconstruction and acquisition modes. There was a slight increase in noise and a decrease in signal-to-noise ratio in the air using the single-volume mode (115 ± 13.1 HU and 8.37 ± 0.91, respectively) compared to the helicoidal super-high-resolution (92.4 ± 11.8 HU and 10.8 ± 1.26, respectively) and helicoidal ultra-high-resolution (91.1 ± 10.7 HU and 10.9 ± 1.39, respectively) modes (P < .002). The volumic CT dose index was 50.9 mGy with helical acquisition and 29.8 mGy with single-volume acquisition mode (P < .0001). Conclusion: The single-volume super-high-resolution acquisition mode allows a reduction in radiation dose exposure without compromising image quality compared to helical scanning, but with a slightly lower signal-to-noise ratio in air with the single-volume mode, while there was no difference in image quality between the helical super- and ultra-high-resolution modes.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT in children with profound deafness before cochlear implant and their impact on surgical decision.METHODS:The pre-operative CT and MRI data from 71 children with bilateral profound deafness planned for cochlear implant were studied.RESULTS:12 patients showed enlarged vestibular aqueduct (16.9%); 14 patients had Mondini malformation (19.7%); 3 patients demonstrated enlarged internal auditory meatus (4.2%); and 2 patients were suspected to have fistulae (2.8%) on both CT and MRI examinations. In comparison between MRI and CT, unilateral cochlear fibrosis was detected in 5 patients(7%) by MRI, but none by CT scans. Bilateral dehiscent facial nerve was detected in 1 patient(1.4%) by CT scan, while MRI was normal.CONCLUSION:CT and MRI are essential for the pre-operative planning of cochlear implant, especially in patients with enlarged vestibular aqueduct, Mondini malformation, enlarged internal auditory meatus and suspected fistulae. These two imaging modalities are complementary to each other in cases with cochlear fibrosis and facial nerve dehiscence.

Abstract:Precise preoperative radiological evaluation of aural atresia is of utmost importance for surgical planning. Until now, multislice computed tomography (MSCT) has been used but it cannot adequately visualize small structures such as the stapes. Flat-panel volume CT (fpVCT) with its secondary reconstructions (fpVCT SECO ) offers a high-resolution visualization of the middle ear. New otosurgical planning software also enables detailed 3D reconstruction of the middle ear anatomy.

Abstract:To explore the structural characteristics of the cochlea in three-dimensional (3D) detail using 3D micro-computed tomography (mCT) image reconstruction of the osseous labyrinth, with the aim of improving the structural design of electrodes, the selection of stimulation sites, and the effectiveness of cochlear implantation. Three temporal bones were selected from among adult donors' temporal bone specimens. A micro-CT apparatus (GE eXplore) was used to scan three specimens with a voxel resolution of 45 m. We obtained about 460 slices/specimen, which produced abundant data. The osseous labyrinth images of three specimens were reconstructed from mCT. The cochlea and its spiral characteristics were measured precisely using Able Software 3D-DOCTOR. The 3D images of the osseous labyrinth, including the cochlea, vestibule, and semicircular canals, were reconstructed. The 3D models of the cochlea showed the spatial relationships and surface structural characteristics. Quantitative data concerning the cochlea and its spiral structural characteristics were analyzed with regard to cochlear implantation. The 3D reconstruction of mCT images clearly displayed the detailed spiral structural characteristics of the osseous labyrinth. Quantitative data regarding the cochlea and its spiral structural characteristics could help to improve electrode structural design, signal processing, and the effectiveness of cochlear implantation. High resolution computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging in the pre-operative assessment of cochlear implant patients

Abstract:Optimal imaging protocols for cochlear implantation have yet to be determined. Pre-operative computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance image (MRI) scans are used to assess cochlear anatomy and patency, to delineate surgical access, and to aid in choice of side for implantation. However, opinion still differs as to which modality provides more information in pre-operative assessment, or if, indeed, a combination of the two is superior. The first 88 patients on the Irish National Cochlear Implant Programme (NCIP) were retrospectively studied to determine the accuracy of pre-operative CT and MRI in predicting abnormalities at the time of surgery. Correlation with surgical findings was determined in three separate groups of patients (those who had CT only, those who had MRI only, and those who had both CT and MRI performed). Of the 24 patients that had both CT and MRI performed, both modalities had a 79 per cent correlation with surgical findings. CT and MRI reports concurred in 75 per cent of cases. Specificity and negative predictive value were high (86 per cent and 90 per cent, respectively). CT alone (47 cases) correlated with surgery in 39 cases (83 per cent); MRI alone (17 cases) correlated in 15 cases (88 per cent). The findings of this study suggest that CT and MRI are effective at predicting normal inner ear anatomy, and thus at predicting the patient and the cochlea most suitable for implantation. Both modalities are useful in determining the side of implantation, thus avoiding potential surgical difficulties in cases of unilateral abnormalities. There was no significant difference between the ability of MRI and CT to detect abnormalities at the time of surgery. In this series the combination of CT and MRI has not been shown to be superior to either modality used alone, although anecdotal evidence to the contrary was noted.

Abstract:Purpose: Imaging of the delicate inner ear morphology has become more and more precise owing to the rapid progress in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, in clinical practice, the interpretation of imaging findings is hampered by a limited knowledge of anatomical details which are frequently obscured by artifacts. Corresponding review articles are as rare in journals as they are in reference books. This shortness prompted us to perform a direct comparison of imaging with anatomical whole-mount sections as a reference. It was the intention of this paper to compare the microscopic anatomy of a human inner ear as shown on anatomical whole-mount sections with high-resolution MRI and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Both are available in clinical routine and depict the structures with maximum spatial resolution. It was also a goal of this work to clarify if structures that were observed on MRI in a regular manner correlate with factual inner ear anatomy or correspond with artifacts typical for imaging. Methods: A fresh human anatomical specimen was examined on a clinical 3-Tesla MRI scanner using a dedicated surface coil. The same specimen was then studied with CBCT. In each imaging modality, high-resolution 3D data sets which enabled multiplanar reformatting were created. In the second step, anatomical whole-mount sections of the specimen were cut and stained. This process enabled a direct comparison of imaging with anatomical conditions. Results: Clinical MRI was able to depict the inner ear with remarkable anatomical precision. Strongly T2-weighted imaging protocols are exquisitely capable of showing the fluid-filled components of the inner ear. The macular organs, ampullar crests and cochlear aqueduct were clearly visible. Truncation artifacts are prone to be confused with the delicate membrane separating the endolymphatic from the perilymphatic compartment. However, it was not possible to directly depict this borderline. Conclusions: With the maximum resolution of magnetic resonance tomography, commonly used in everyday clinical practice, even the smallest details of the inner ear structures can be reliably displayed. However, it is important to distinguish between truncation artifacts and true anatomical structures. Therefore, this study can be useful as a reference for image analysis.
