In this talk we will give a survey of problems and results in this field. Abstract:Let $X$ be a (real or complex) infinite dimensional linear space. We establish conditions on a homogeneous polynomial $P$ on $X$ so that, if $W$ is any finite dimensional subspace of $X$ on which $P$ vanishes, then $P$ vanishes on an infinite dimensional subspace of $X$ containing $W$. In the complex case, this is a step beyond the classical result due to Plichko and Zagorodnyuk. Applications to the real case are also provided.

Abstract:We address the problem of the weak asymptotic behavior of zeros of families of generalized hypergeometric polynomials as their degree tends to infinity. The main tool is the representation of such polynomials as a finite free convolution of simpler elements; this representation is preserved in the asymptotic regime, so we can formally write the limit zero distribution of these polynomials as a free convolution of explicitly computable measures. We derive a simple expression for the S-transform of the limit distribution, which turns out to be a rational function, and a representation of the Kampé de Fériet polynomials in terms of finite free convolutions. We apply these tools, as well as those from [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2309.10970" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.10970">arXiv:2309.10970</a>], to the study of some well-known families of multiple orthogonal polynomials (Jacobi-Piñeiro and multiple Laguerre of the first and second kinds), obtaining results on their zeros, such as interlacing, monotonicity, and asymptotics.

Abstract:We give different integral representations of the Lommel function involving trigonometric and hypergeometric functions. By using classical results of Pólya, we give the distribution of the zeros of for certain regions in the plane . Further, thanks to a well known relation between the functions and the hypergeometric function, we describe the distribution of the zeros of for specific values of its parameters.

Abstract:One-parameter strongly continuous semigroups of linear bounded operators on Banach spaces (also known as $C_0$-semigroups) are a fundamental operator-theoretic tool used in the study of linear and non-linear evolution PDEs arising in physics, probability, control theory and other areas of science and technology, including quantum theory, transportation problems and finance. Since 2021 the annual online conference on one-parameter semigroups of operators (OPSO) offers an opportunity for researchers worldwide to discuss the current state of the art and exchange knowledge. On every OPSO conference open problems are proposed, collected and discussed, some of them are found to be solved and hence get crossed out from the list. In this paper we provide a collection of open problems of semigroup theory that were proposed by participants of OPSO 2021--2024 conferences and have not been solved, yet. For each problem some comments on the relevance and and history of the problem are provided.

At the end, preference is stated for maximal mixing between $\nu_\mu$ and $\nu_\tau$, and small mixing with $\nu_e$.

Abstract:The wild McKay correspondence is a form of McKay correspondence in terms of stringy invariants that is generalized to arbitrary characteristics. It gives rise to an interesting connection between the geometry of wild quotient varieties and arithmetic on extensions of local fields. The principal purpose of this article is to collect open problems on the wild McKay correspondence, as well as those in related fields that the author believes are interesting or important. It also serves as a survey on the present state of these fields.

Abstract:We give sufficient conditions under which a polyanalytic polynomial of degree $n$ has (i) at least one zero, and (ii) finitely many zeros. In the latter case, we prove that the number of zeros is bounded by $n^2$. We then show that for all $k \in \{0,\dots, n^2, \infty\}$ there exists a polyanalytic polynomial of degree $n$ with exactly $k$ distinct zeros. Moreover, we generalize the Lagrange and Cauchy bounds from analytic to polyanalytic polynomials and obtain inclusion disks for the zeros. Finally, we construct a harmonic and thus polyanalytic polynomial of degree $n$ with $n$ nonzero coefficients and the maximum number of $n^2$ zeros.

Universality theorems for zeros of random real polynomials with fixed coefficients

Abstract:Consider a monic polynomial of degree $n$ whose subleading coefficients are independent, identically distributed, nondegenerate random variables having zero mean, unit variance, and finite moments of all orders, and let $m \geq 0$ be a fixed integer. We prove that such a random monic polynomial has exactly $m$ real zeros with probability $n^{-3/4+o(1)}$ as $n\to \infty$ through integers of the same parity as $m$. More generally, we determine conditions under which a similar asymptotic formula describes the corresponding probability for families of random real polynomials with multiple fixed coefficients. Our work extends well-known universality results of Dembo, Poonen, Shao, and Zeitouni, who considered the family of real polynomials with all coefficients random. As a number-theoretic consequence of these results, we deduce that an algebraic integer $\alpha$ of degree $n$ has exactly $m$ real Galois conjugates with probability $n^{-3/4+o(1)}$, when such $\alpha$ are ordered by the heights of their minimal polynomials.

Abstract:We give a description of the intersection of the zero set with the unit sphere of a zero-free polynomial in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$. This description leads to the formulation of a conjecture regarding the characterization of polynomials that are cyclic in Dirichlet-type spaces in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$. Furthermore, we answer partially ascertaining whether an arbitrary polynomial is not cyclic.
