Abstract:We consider the Lane-Emden problem on planar domains. When the exponent is large, the existence and multiplicity of solutions strongly depend on the geometric properties of the domain, which also deeply affect their qualitative behavior. Remarkably, a wide variety of solutions, both positive and sign-changing, have been found when the exponent is sufficiently large. In this paper, we focus on this topic and fine new sign-changing solutions that exhibit an unexpected concentration phenomenon as the exponent approaches infinity.

Abstract:Quite differently from those perturbation techniques in \cite{DM}, we use the assumption of a $C^1$-stable critical point to construct positive or sign-changing bubbling solutions to the boundary value problem $-\Delta u=\lambda u|u|^{p-2}e^{|u|^p}$ with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition in a bounded, smooth planar domain $\Omega$, when $0<p<2$ and $\lambda>0$ is a small parameter. A sufficient condition on the intersection between the nodal line of these sign-changing solutions and the boundary of the domain is founded. Moreover, for $\lambda$ small enough, we prove that when $\Omega$ is an arbitrary bounded domain, this problem has not only at least two pairs of bubbling solutions which change sign exactly once and whose nodal lines intersect the boundary, but also a bubbling solution which changes sign exactly twice or three times; when $\Omega$ has an axial symmetry, this problem has a bubbling solution which alternately changes sign arbitrarily many times along the axis of symmetry through the domain.

Abstract:We study the asymptotic and qualitative properties of least energy radial sign-changing solutions to fractional semilinear elliptic problems of the form \[ \begin{cases} (-\Delta)^s u = |u|^{2^*_s-2-\varepsilon}u &\text{in } B_R, \\ u = 0 &\text{in }\mathbb{R}^n \setminus B_R, \end{cases} \] where $s \in (0,1)$, $(-\Delta)^s$ is the s-Laplacian, $B_R$ is a ball of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $2^*_s := \frac{2n}{n-2s}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent and $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter. We prove that such solutions have the limit profile of a "tower of bubbles", as $ \varepsilon \to 0^+$, i.e. the positive and negative parts concentrate at the same point with different concentration speeds. Moreover, we provide information about the nodal set of these solutions.

We show the existence and multiplicity of concentrated solutions based on the Lyapunov-Schmidt reduction argument incorporating the zero-average condition by certain symmetries. It is worth noting that we simultaneously consider two cases: $p>\frac n{n-2}$ and $p<\frac n{n-2}$. The coupling mechanisms of the system are completely different in these different cases, leading to significant changes in the behavior of the solutions. The research challenges also vary. Currently, there are very few papers that take both ranges into account when considering solution construction. Therefore, this is also the main feature and new ingredient of our work.

Under suitable conditions on $K_1(y)$ and $K_2(y)$, we construct a new family of solutions to this system, which are centred at points lying on the top and the bottom circles of a cylinder.

Abstract:We study the anti-symmetric solutions to the Lane-Emden type system involving fractional Laplacian (-Delta)(s) (0 < s < 1). First we obtain a Liouville type theorem in the often-used defining space L-2s. An interesting lower bound on the solutions is derived to estimate the Lipschitz coefficient in the sub-linear cases. Considering the anti-symmetric property, one can naturally extend the defining space from L-2s to L2s+1. Surprisingly, with this extension, we show the existence of non-trivial solutions. This is very different from the previous results of the Lane-Emden system.

Sign-changing solution for an overdetermined elliptic problem on unbounded domain

Abstract:We prove the existence of two smooth families of unbounded domains in $\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$ with $N\geq1$ such that \begin{equation} -\Delta u=\lambda u\,\, \text{in}\,\,\Omega, \,\, u=0,\,\,\partial_\nu u=\text{const}\,\,\text{on}\,\,\partial\Omega\nonumber \end{equation} admits a sign-changing solution. The domains bifurcate from the straight cylinder $B_1\times \mathbb{R}$, where $B_1$ is the unit ball in $\mathbb{R}^N$. These results can be regarded as counterexamples to the Berenstein conjecture on unbounded domain. Unlike most previous papers in this direction, a very delicate issue here is that there may be two-dimensional kernel space at some bifurcation point. Thus a Crandall-Rabinowitz type bifurcation theorem from high-dimensional kernel space is also established to achieve the goal.

Abstract:Abstract We investigate existence and qualitative properties of globally defined and positive radial solutions of the Lane-Emden system, posed on a Cartan-Hadamard model manifold $ {{\mathbb{M}}}^{n} $. We prove that, for critical or supercritical exponents, there exists at least a one-parameter family of such solutions. Depending on the stochastic completeness or incompleteness of $ {{\mathbb{M}}}^{n} $, we show that the existence region stays one dimensional in the former case, whereas it becomes two dimensional in the latter. Then, we study the asymptotics at infinity of solutions, which again exhibit a dichotomous behavior between the stochastically complete (where both components are forced to vanish) and incomplete cases. Finally, we prove a rigidity result for finite-energy solutions, showing that they exist if and only if is isometric to $ {\mathbb{R}}^{n} $.

Abstract:In this paper, we study then early critical Lane-Emden equations { -Delta u=up-epsilon in Omega, u>0 in Omega, u=0 on partial derivative Omega,where Omega subset of R(N)with N >= 3,p=N+2N-2and epsilon>0 is small.Our main result is that when Omega is a smooth bounded convex domain and the Robin function on Omega is a Morse function, then for small epsilon the equation(& lowast;) has a unique solution, which is also non degenerate.As for non-convex domain, we also obtain exact number of solutions to(& lowast;) under some conditions .In general, the solutions of (& lowast;) may blow-up at multiple points a1,<middle dot><middle dot><middle dot>,a k of Omega as epsilon -> 0.In particular, when Omega is convex, there must be a unique blow-up point(i.e. k=1).In this paper, by using the local Pohozaev identities and blow-up techniques even having multiple blow-up points(non-convex domain),we can prove that such blow-up solution is unique and non degenerate.
