Abstract:In 1999, Brylinski and Zhang computed the complex equivariant K-theory of the conjugation self-action of a compact, connected Lie group with torsion-free fundamental group. In this note we show it is possible to do so in under a page.

Abstract:For a Lie group $G$ and a vector bundle $E$ we study those actions of the Lie group $TG$ on $E$ for which the action map $TG\times E \to E$ is a morphism of vector bundles, and call those \emph{affine actions}. We prove that the category $\mathrm{Vect}_{TG}^{\mathrm{aff}}\left(X\right)$ of such actions over a fixed $G$-manifold $X$ is equivalent to a certain slice category $\mathfrak g_X \backslash \mathrm{Vect}_G\left(X\right)$. We show that there is a monadic adjunction relating $\mathrm{Vect}_{TG}^{\mathrm{aff}}\left(X\right)$ to $\mathrm{Vect}_G\left(X\right)$, and the right adjoint of this adjunction induces an isomorphism of Grothendieck groups $K_{TG}^{\mathrm{aff}}\left(X\right) \cong KO_G\left(X\right)$. Complexification produces analogous results involving $T_\mathbb C G$ and $K_G\left(X\right)$.

Abstract:We investigate the K-theory of twisted higher-rank-graph algebras by adapting parts of Elliott's computation of the K-theory of the rotation algebras. We show that each 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph taking values in an abelian group determines a continuous bundle of twisted higher-rank graph algebras over the dual group. We use this to show that for a circle-valued 2-cocycle on a higher-rank graph obtained by exponentiating a real-valued cocycle, the K-theory of the twisted higher-rank graph algebra coincides with that of the untwisted one.

Abstract:We consider the K-theory of the Hilbert scheme of points in the complex plane, which under McKay correspondence is isomorphic to the space of symmetric functions $\Lambda^n$. We prove a formula conjectured by Boissière for the endomorphism of $\Lambda^n$ induced by multiplication by the classes of the Adams powers of the tautological bundle. We describe the structure constants for the multiplication on $\Lambda^n$ induced by the tensor product in K-theory.

Abstract:This article discusses the twisted adjoint action $\mathrm{Ad}_{g}^{\kappa}:G\rightarrow G$, $x\mapsto gx\kappa(g^{-1})$ given by a Dynkin diagram automorphism $\kappa\in\mathrm{Aut}(G)$, where $G$ is compact, connected, simply connected and simple. The first aim is to recover the classification of $\kappa$-twisted conjugacy classes by elementary means, without invoking the non-connected group $G\rtimes\langle\kappa\rangle$. The second objective is to highlight several properties of the so-called \textit{twining characters} $\tilde{\chi}^{(\kappa)}:G\rightarrow\mathbb{C}$, as defined by Fuchs, Schellekens and Schweigert. These class functions generalize the usual characters, and define $\kappa$-twisted versions $\tilde{R}^{(\kappa)}(G)$ and $\tilde{R}_{k}^{(\kappa)}(G)$ ($k\in\mathbb{Z}_{>0}$) of the representation and fusion rings associated to $G$. In particular, the latter are shown to be isomorphic to the representation and fusion rings of the \textit{orbit Lie group} $G_{(\kappa)}$, a simply connected group obtained from $\kappa$ and the root data of $G$.

Abstract:We give a construction for twisted equivariant K-theory in the case of a proper action of a discrete group using twisted bundles. Our construction uses results of Lueck and Oliver to extend a construction of Adem and Ruan. We also show the existence of a Chern character to twisted Bredon cohomology. This gives a partial answer to the question of when you can construct twisted equivariant K-theory out of finite rank twisted bundles.

Abstract:We establish conditions under which an inclusion of finitely aligned left-cancellative small categories induces inclusions of twisted C*-algebras. We also present an example of an inclusion of finitely aligned left-cancellative monoids that does not induce a homomorphism even between (untwisted) Toeplitz algebras. We prove that the twisted C*-algebras of a jointly faithful self-similar action of a countable discrete amenable groupoid on a row-finite k-graph with no sources, with respect to homotopic cocycles, have isomorphic K-theory.

Abstract:We prove that for torsion-free amenable ample groupoids, an isomorphism in groupoid homology induced by an étale correspondence yields an isomorphism in the K-theory of the associated $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras. We apply this to extend X. Li's K-theory formula for left regular inverse semigroup $\mathrm{C}^\ast$-algebras. These results are obtained by developing the functoriality of the ABC spectral sequence.

Abstract:Abstract We consider the semi-direct products $G={\mathbb{Z}}^{2}\rtimes GL_{2}({\mathbb{Z}}), {\mathbb{Z}}^{2}\rtimes SL_{2}({\mathbb{Z}})$, and ${\mathbb{Z}}^{2}\rtimes \Gamma (2)$ (where $\Gamma (2)$ is the congruence subgroup of level 2). For each of them, we compute both sides of the Baum–Connes conjecture, namely the equivariant $K$-homology of the classifying space $\underline{E}G$ for proper actions on the left-hand side, and the analytical K-theory of the reduced group $C^{*}$-algebra on the right-hand side. The computation of the LHS is made possible by the existence of a 3-dimensional model for $\underline{E}G$, which allows to replace equivariant K-homology by Bredon homology. We pay due attention to the presence of torsion in $G$, leading to an extensive study of the wallpaper groups associated with finite subgroups. For the first and third groups, the computations in $K_{0}$ provide explicit generators that are matched by the Baum–Connes assembly map.

Abstract:We present a version of twisted equivariant $K$-theory-$K$-twisted equivariant $K$-theory, and use Grothendieck differentials to compute the $K$ -twisted equivariant $K$-theory of simple simply connected Lie groups. We did the calculation explicitly for SU(N) explicitly. The basic idea is to interpret an equivariant gerbe as an element of equivariant $K$-theory of degree 1.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a second-countable, locally compact group. In this article we study amenable $G$-actions on Kirchberg algebras that admit an approximately central embedding of a canonical quasi-free action on the Cuntz algebra $\mathcal{O}_\infty$. If $G$ is discrete, this coincides with the class of amenable and outer $G$-actions on Kirchberg algebras. We show that the resulting $G$-C*-dynamical systems are classified by equivariant Kasparov theory up to cocycle conjugacy. This is the first classification theory of its kind applicable to actions of arbitrary locally compact groups. Among various applications, our main result solves a conjecture of Izumi for actions of discrete amenable torsion-free groups, and recovers the main results of recent work by Izumi-Matui for actions of poly-$\mathbb{Z}$ groups.

Action of Weyl group on equivariant K-theory of flag varieties

Abstract:We describe the action of the Weyl group of a semi simple linear group $G$ on cohomological and K-theoretic invariants of the generalized flag variety $G/B$. We study the automorphism $s_i$, induced by the reflection in the simple root, on the equivariant $K$-theory ring $K_T(G/B)$ using divided difference operators. Using the localization theorem for torus action and Borel presentation for the equivariant K-theory ring, we calculate the formula for this automorphism. Moreover, we expand this formula in the basis consisting of structure sheaves classes of Schubert varieties. We provide effective formula (applying properties of Weyl groups) for the approximation of this expansion, more specifically for the part corresponding to Schubert varieties with the fixed dimension, which in the case of $G$ being a special linear group is more exact. Finally, we discuss the above-mentioned formula in the basis of motivic Chern classes of Schubert varieties.

Abstract:Recent work of Chen He has determined through GKM methods the Borel equivariant cohomology with rational coefficients of the isotropy action on a real Grassmannian and an real oriented Grassmannian through GKM methods. In this expository note, we propound a less involved approach, due essentially to Vitali Kapovitch, to computing equivariant cohomology rings $H^*_K(G/H)$ for $G,K,H$ connected Lie groups, and apply it to recover the equivariant cohomology of the Grassmannians. The bulk is setup and commentary; once one believes in the model, the proof itself is under a page.

Abstract:In this paper we analyse for a $G$-$C^{*}$-algebra $A$ to which extent one can calculate the $K$-theory of the reduced crossed product $K(A\rtimes_{r}G)$ from the $K$-theory spectrum $K(A)$ with the induced $G$-action. We also consider some cases where one allows to use the $K$-theories of crossed products for some proper subgroups of $G$. Our central goal is to demonstrate the usefulness of a homotopy theoretic approach. We mainly concentrate on finite groups.

Abstract:We consider the equivariant K-theory of a real semisimple Lie group which acts on the (complex) flag variety of its complexification group. We construct an assemble map in the framework of KK-theory and then we prove that it is an isomorphism. The prove relies on a careful study of the orbits of the real group action on the flag variety and then piecing together different orbits. This result is a special case of the Baum-Connes conjecture with coefficients.

Abstract:We study $\mathbb{R}^k \times \mathbb{Z}^\ell$ actions on arbitrary compact manifolds with a projectively dense set of Anosov elements and 1-dimensional coarse Lyapunov foliations. Such actions are called totally Cartan actions. We completely classify such actions as built from low-dimensional Anosov flows and diffeomorphisms and affine actions, verifying the Katok-Spatzier conjecture for this class. This is achieved by introducing a new tool, the action of a dynamically defined topological group describing paths in coarse Lyapunov foliations, and understanding its generators and relations. We obtain applications to the Zimmer program.

Abstract:This is a study of twisted K-theory on a product space $T \times M$. The twisting comes from a decomposable cup product class which applies the 1-cohomology of $T$ and the 2-cohomology of $M$. In the case of a topological product, we give a concrete realization for the gerbe associated to a cup product characteristic class and use this to realize twisted $K^1$-theory elements in terms of supercharge sections in a Fredholm bundle. The nontriviality of this construction is proved. Equivariant twisted K-theory and gerbes are studied in the product case as well. This part applies Lie groupoid theory. Superconnection formalism is used to provide a construction for characteristic polynomials which are used to extract information from the twisted K-theory classes.
