Abstract:A unified set of predictions for pion and kaon elastic electromagnetic and gravitational form factors is obtained using a symmetry-preserving truncation of each relevant quantum field equation. A key part of the study is a description of salient aspects of the dressed graviton + quark vertices. The calculations reveal that each meson's mass radius is smaller than its charge radius, matching available empirical inferences; and meson core pressures are commensurate with those in neutron stars. The analysis described herein paves the way for a direct calculation of nucleon gravitational form factors.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the unified prediction of the electromagnetic form factors (EMFFs) and gravitational form factors (GFFs) of pions and kaons. Specifically, the research aims to conduct detailed theoretical calculations and analyses of the elastic electromagnetic form factors and gravitational form factors of pions and kaons through the symmetry - preserving truncation of quantum field equations in quantum field theory. These calculations not only reveal that the mass radius of mesons is smaller than the charge radius, but also show that the meson core pressure is comparable to the pressure inside a neutron star. ### Main Objectives 1. **Unified Prediction**: Provide consistent predictions of the electromagnetic and gravitational form factors of pions and kaons. 2. **Symmetry Preservation**: Use the symmetry - preserving truncation method to handle relevant quantum field equations. 3. **Vertex Description**: Describe important physical quantities in detail, such as dressed photon + quark vertices and dressed graviton + quark vertices. 4. **Physical Properties**: Calculate physical properties such as the mass distribution and pressure distribution of mesons and compare them with experimental data. ### Key Issues - **Mass and Charge Distribution**: Study the mass and charge distribution inside mesons, especially the relationship between the mass radius and the charge radius. - **Core Pressure**: Calculate the pressure in the meson core and compare it with the pressure inside a neutron star. - **Gravitational Form Factor**: Calculate the gravitational form factor of mesons and explore its relationship with the electromagnetic form factor. ### Research Methods - **Continuum Schwinger Function Methods (CSMs)**: Solve the probe + meson scattering problem within the rainbow - ladder truncation framework. - **Bethe - Salpeter Equation**: Use the Bethe - Salpeter equation to describe the quark - antiquark scattering kernel and calculate various physical quantities. - **Algebraic Approximation**: To supplement the full - numerical calculation, use a simplified algebraic approximation method to represent the quark propagator and the meson Bethe - Salpeter amplitude. ### Results and Discussion - **Form Factor Prediction**: Provide detailed predictions of the electromagnetic and gravitational form factors of pions and kaons, including their radii and distributions. - **Physical Property Verification**: Compare the calculation results with existing experimental data to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical model. - **Future Prospects**: Discuss the higher - precision data that may be provided by future experiments and the importance of these data for further verification and improvement of the theoretical model. ### Formula Examples - **Electromagnetic Form Factor**: \[ \Lambda^\gamma_\nu(P, Q) = 2N_c \int \frac{d^4 l}{(2\pi)^4} \Gamma^\gamma_\nu(l + p', l + p) L(l, P, Q) \] where \( L(l, P, Q) = S(l + p) \Gamma_\pi(l + p/2; p) S(l) \bar{\Gamma}_\pi(l + p'/2; -p') S(l + p') \). - **Gravitational Form Factor**: \[ \Lambda^g_{\mu\nu}(P, Q) = 2P_\mu P_\nu \theta_2(Q^2) + \frac{1}{2} [Q^2 \delta_{\mu\nu} - Q_\mu Q_\nu] \theta_1(Q^2) + 2m_\pi^2 \delta_{\mu\nu} \bar{c}
