Abstract:The rise of ChatGPT has brought a notable shift to the AI sector, with its exceptional conversational skills and deep grasp of language. Recognizing its value across different areas, our study investigates ChatGPT's capacity to predict stock market movements using only social media tweets and sentiment analysis. We aim to see if ChatGPT can tap into the vast sentiment data on platforms like Twitter to offer insightful predictions about stock trends. We focus on determining if a tweet has a positive, negative, or neutral effect on two big tech giants Microsoft and Google's stock value. Our findings highlight a positive link between ChatGPT's evaluations and the following days stock results for both tech companies. This research enriches our view on ChatGPT's adaptability and emphasizes the growing importance of AI in shaping financial market forecasts.

The paper aims to explore the ability of ChatGPT to predict stock market trends based solely on social media tweets and sentiment analysis. Specifically, the researchers hope to predict the stock movements of two large tech companies—Microsoft and Google—by analyzing the sentiment of tweets on Twitter. The focus of the study is to verify whether ChatGPT can use its powerful language understanding and generation capabilities to make accurate predictions of the stock market's future performance through Zero-Shot Learning, without specialized training.

The research results show that ChatGPT achieved an accuracy rate of 70% in predicting Microsoft's stock trends and 63.88% in predicting Google's stock trends. Although these predictions are not always completely accurate, considering that ChatGPT is not a model specifically designed for stock prediction, such performance is significantly better than random guessing. Moreover, ChatGPT can not only predict trends but also identify key factors influencing these trends, providing valuable insights for future stock market predictions.

Future research could consider using more comprehensive datasets and incorporating information from more social media platforms to further improve prediction accuracy and delve deeper into ChatGPT's ability to identify the reasons behind market movements. This will help traders and stakeholders make more informed investment decisions.
