Abstract:We introduce the notion of a hierarchical quandle, which is a generalisation of diquandles and multi-quandles. Using hierarchical quandle colourings, we construct a cocycle invariants for links coloured by quandles.

Abstract:Biquandles are generalizations of quandles. As well as quandles, biquandles give us many invariants for oriented classical/virtual/surface links. Some invariants derived from biquandles are known to be stronger than those from quandles for virtual links. However, we have not found an essentially refined invariant for classical/surface links so far. In this paper, we give an explicit one-to-one correspondence between biquandle colorings and quandle colorings for classical/surface links. We also show that biquandle homotopy invariants and quandle homotopy invariants are equivalent. As a byproduct, we can interpret biquandle cocycle invariants in terms of shadow quandle cocycle invariants.

Abstract:The quandle coloring quiver was introduced by Cho and Nelson as a categorification of the quandle coloring number. In some cases, it has been shown that the quiver invariant offers more information than other quandle enhancements. In this paper, we compute the quandle coloring quivers of 2-bridge links with respect to the dihedral quandles.

Abstract:We enhance the pointed quandle counting invariant of linkoids through the use of quivers analogously to quandle coloring quivers. This allows us to generalize the in-degree polynomial invariant of links to linkoids. Additionally, we introduce a new linkoid invariant, which we call the in-degree quiver polynomial matrix. Lastly, we study the pointed quandle coloring quivers of linkoids of $(p,2)$-torus type with respect to pointed dihedral quandles.

Abstract:Quandle Coloring Quivers are directed graph-valued invariants of classical and virtual knots and links associated to finite quandles. Quandle action quivers are subquivers of the full quandle coloring quiver associated to quandle actions by elements of the coloring quandle. These quivers provide a categorification of the quandle counting invariant associated to each element of the quandle. We obtain new polynomial invariants called quandle action polynomials from these quivers as decategorifications.

Abstract:In this paper we define the fundamental quandle of knotoids and linkoids and prove that it is invariant under the under forbidden-move and hence encodes only the information of the underclosure of the knotoid. We then introduce $n$-pointed quandles, which generalize quandles by specifying $n$ elements as ordered basepoints. This leads to the notion of fundamental pointed quandles of linkoids, which enhances the fundamental quandle. Using $2$-pointed quandle allows us to distinguish 1-linkoids with equivalent under-closures and leads to a couple of 1-linkoid invariants. We also generalize the notion of homogeneity of quandles to $n$-homogeneity of quandles. We classify all $\infty$-homogeneous, finite quandles.

Abstract:A continuous cohomology theory for topological quandles is introduced, and compared to the algebraic theories. Extensions of topological quandles are studied with respect to continuous 2-cocycles, and used to show the differences in second cohomology groups for specific topological quandles. A method of computing the cohomology groups of the inverse limit is applied to quandles.

Medial quandles's capability of detecting causality and properties of their coloring on certain links and knots

Abstract:I investigated the capability of medial quandle, quandle whose operation satisfying that $(a_1*b_1)*(a_2*b_2)=(a_1*a_2)*(b_1*b_2)$, to detect causality in (2+1)-dimensional globally hyperbolic spacetime by determining if they can distinguished the connected sum of two Hopf links from an infinite series of relevant three-component links constructed by Allen and Swenberg in 2020, who suggested that any link invariant must be able to distinguish those links for them to detect causality in the given setting. I show that these quandles fail to do so as long as $a\sim b\Leftrightarrow a*b=a$ defines an equivalence relation. The Alexander quandles is an example that this result can apply to. Inspired by this result, I also derived a generalized theorem about the coloring of medial quandles on a specific type of tangles, which help to determine whether this quandles can distinguish between a wider range of knots and links or not.

Abstract:Quandle homology was defined from rack homology as the quotient by a subcomplex corresponding to the idempotency, for invariance under the type I Reidemeister move. Similar subcomplexes have been considered for various identities of racks and moves on diagrams. We observe common aspects of these identities and subcomplexes; a quandle identity gives rise to a $2$-cycle, the abelian extension with a $2$-cocycle that vanishes on the $2$-cycle inherits the identity, and a subcomplex is constructed from the identity. Specific identities are examined among small connected quandles.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of mc-biquandles, algebraic structures which have possibly distinct biquandle operations at single-component and multi-component crossings. These structures provide computable homset invariants for classical and virtual links. We categorify these homsets to obtain mc-biquandle coloring quivers and define several new link invariants via decategorification from these invariant quivers.

Abstract:We completely characterize the coloring quivers of general torus links by dihedral quandles by first exhausting all possible numbers of colorings, followed by determining the interconnections between colorings in each case. The quiver is obtained as function of the number of colorings. The quiver always contains complete subgraphs, in particular a complete subgraph corresponding to the trivial colorings, but the total number of subgraphs in the quiver and the weights of their edges varies depending on the number of colorings.

On the Euler characteristics for quandles

Abstract:A quandle is an algebraic system whose axioms generalize the algebraic structure of the point symmetries of symmetric spaces. In this paper, we give a definition of Euler characteristics for quandles. In particular, the quandle Euler characteristic of a compact connected Riemannian symmetric space coincides with the topological Euler characteristic. Additionally, we calculate the Euler characteristics of some finite quandles, including generalized Alexander quandles, core quandles, discrete spheres, and discrete tori. Furthermore, we prove several properties of quandle Euler characteristics, which suggest that they share similar properties with topological Euler characteristics.

Abstract:A quandle is an algebraic system originated in knot theory, and can be regarded as a generalization of symmetric spaces. The inner automorphism group of a quandle is defined as the group generated by the point symmetries (right multiplications). In this paper, starting from any simple graphs, we construct quandles whose inner automorphism groups are abelian. We also prove that the constructed quandle is homogeneous if and only if the graph is vertex-transitive. This shows that there is a wide family of quandles with abelian inner automorphism groups, even if we impose the homogeneity. The key examples of such quandles are realized as subquandles of oriented real Grassmannian manifolds.

Abstract:Quandle representations are homomorphisms from a quandle to the group of invertible matrices on some vector space taken with the conjugation operation. We study certain families of quandle representations. More specifically, we introduce the notion of regular representation for quandles, investigating in detail the regular representations of dihedral quandles and \emph{completely classifying} them. Then, we study representations of cyclic quandles, giving some necessary conditions for irreducibility and providing a complete classification under some restrictions. Moreover, we provide various counterexamples to constructions that hold for group representations, and show to what extent such theory has the same properties of the representation theory of finite groups. In particular, we show that Maschke's theorem does not hold for quandle representations.

Abstract:The fundamental quandle is a complete invariant for unoriented tame knots \cite{JO, Ma} and non-split links \cite{FR}. The proof involves proving a relationship between the components of the fundamental quandle and the cosets of the peripheral subgroup(s) in the fundamental group of the knot or link. We extend these relationships to spatial graphs, and to $N$-quandles of links and spatial graphs. As an application, we are able to give a complete list of links with finite $N$-quandles, proving a conjecture from \cite{MS}, and a partial list of spatial graphs with finite $N$-quandles.

Abstract:We define a family of quiver representation-valued invariants of oriented classical and virtual knots and links associated to a choice of finite quandle $X$, abelian group $A$, set of quandle 2-cocycles $C\subset H^2_Q(x;A)$, choice of coefficient ring $k$ and set of quandle endomorphisms $S\subset \mathrm{Hom}(X,X)$. From this representation we define four new polynomial (or ``polynomial'' depending on $A$) invariants. We generalize to the case of biquandles and compute some examples.

This paper studies quandles with exactly one non-trivially permuted column. Their automorphism groups, quandle polynomials, (symmetric) cohomology groups, and [math] quandles are studied. The quiver and cocycle invariant of links using these quandles are shown to relate to linking number.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate residual finiteness and subquandle separability of quandles. The existence of these finiteness properties implies the solvability of the word problem and the generalised word problem for quandles. We prove that the fundamental $n$-quandle of any link in the 3-sphere is residually finite for each $n \ge 2$. This supplements the recent result on residual finiteness of link quandles and the classification of links whose fundamental $n$-quandles are finite for some $n$. We also establish several general results on these finiteness properties and give many families of quandles admitting them.
