Abstract:In this paper, we consider the morphisms from projective spaces to flag varieties. We show that the morphisms can only be constant under some special conditions. As a consequence, we prove that the splitting types of unsplit uniform $r$-bundles on $\mathbb{P}^m$ can not be $(a_1,\dots,a_1,a_2,\dots,a_{r-k+1})$ for $1\le k\le m-2$.

Abstract:We study vector bundles on flag varieties over an algebraically closed field k. In the first part, we suppose G=Gk(d,n)$G=G_k(d,n)$ (2 <= d <= n-d)$(2\le d\le n-d)$ to be the Grassmannian parameterizing linear subspaces of dimension d in kn$k<^>n$, where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0$p>0$. Let E be a uniform vector bundle over G of rank r <= d$r\le d$. We show that E is either a direct sum of line bundles or a twist of the pullback of the universal subbundle Hd$H_d$ or its dual Hd proves$H_d<^>{\vee }$ by a series of absolute Frobenius maps. In the second part, splitting properties of vector bundles on general flag varieties F(d1, horizontal ellipsis ,ds)$F(d_1,\ldots ,d_s)$ in characteristic zero are considered. We prove a structure theorem for bundles over flag varieties which are uniform with respect to the ith component of the manifold of lines in F(d1, horizontal ellipsis ,ds)$F(d_1,\ldots ,d_s)$. Furthermore, we generalize the Grauert-Mu''$\ddot{\text{u}}$lich-Barth theorem to flag varieties. As a corollary, we show that any strongly uniform i-semistable (1 <= i <= n-1)$(1\le i\le n-1)$ bundle over the complete flag variety splits as a direct sum of special line bundles.

Abstract:This paper introduces a class of smooth projective varieties that generalize and share many properties with partial flag varieties of type A. The quiver flag variety Mϑ(Q,r̲) of a finite acyclic quiver Q (with a unique source) and a dimension vector r̲ is a fine moduli space of stable representations of Q. Quiver flag varieties are Mori dream spaces, they are obtained via a tower of Grassmann bundles, and their bounded derived category of coherent sheaves is generated by a tilting bundle. We define the multigraded linear series of a weakly exceptional sequence of locally free sheaves E̲=(OX,E1,…,Eρ) on a projective scheme X to be the quiver flag variety |E̲|:=Mϑ(Q,r̲) of a pair (Q,r̲) encoded by E̲. When each Ei is globally generated, we obtain a morphism ϕ|E̲|:X→|E̲|, realizing each Ei as the pullback of a tautological bundle. As an application, we introduce the multigraded Plücker embedding of a quiver flag variety.

Abstract:We prove the existence of quasi-projective coarse moduli spaces parametrising certain complete flags of subschemes of a fixed projective space $\mathbb{P}(V)$ up to projective automorphisms. The flags of subschemes being parametrised are obtained by intersecting non-degenerate subvarieties of $\mathbb{P}(V)$ of dimension $n$ by flags of linear subspaces of $\mathbb{P}(V)$ of length $n$, with each positive dimension component of the flags being required to be non-singular and non-degenerate, and with the dimension $0$ components being required to satisfy a Chow stability condition. These moduli spaces are constructed using non-reductive Geometric Invariant Theory for actions of groups whose unipotent radical is graded, making use of a non-reductive analogue of quotienting-in-stages developed by Hoskins and Jackson.

Abstract:We show that there exist only constant morphisms from $\mathbb{Q}^{2n+1}(n\geq 1)$ to $\mathbb{G}(l,2n+1)$ if $l$ is even $(0<l<2n)$ and $(l,2n+1)$ is not $ (2,5)$. As an application, we prove on $\mathbb{Q}^{2m+1}$ and $\mathbb{Q}^{2m+2}(m\geq 3)$, any uniform bundle of rank $2m$ splits.

Morphisms from a very general hypersurface

Abstract:Let $X$ be a very general hypersurface of degree $d$ in the projective $(n+1)$-space with $n \ge 3$, and $f: X \to Y$ a non-birational surjective morphism to a normal projective variety $Y$. We first prove that $Y$ is a klt Fano variety if ${\rm deg} \, f \ge C$ for some constant $C = C(n, d)$ depending only on $n$ and $d$. Next we prove an optimal upper bound ${\rm deg} \, f \le {\rm deg} \, X$ provided that $Y$ is factorial, ${\rm deg} \, f$ is prime and ${\rm deg} \, f \ge E(n)$ for some constant $E(n)$ (with $E(n) = n(n+1)$ when $Y$ is smooth). As a corollary, we show that $Y \cong {\mathbb P}^n$ under some conditions on $Y$ and ${\rm deg} \, f$.

Polymatroids and moduli of points in flags

Abstract:We introduce and study different compactifications of the moduli space of $n$ distinct weighted labeled points in a flag of affine spaces. We construct these spaces via the weighted and generalized Fulton-MacPherson compactifications of Routis and Kim-Sato. For certain weights, our compactifications are toric and isomorphic to the polypermutohedral and polystellahedral varieties, which arise in the work of Crowley-Huh-Larson-Simpson-Wang and Eur-Larson on polymatroids, a generalization of matroids. Moreover, we show that these toric compactifications have a fibration structure, with fibers isomorphic to the Losev-Manin space, and are related to each other via a geometric quotient.

Cohomology of flag bundles over compact Hermitian locally symmetric spaces

Abstract:Let $E\to B$ be a complex analytic fiber bundle with fiber $F$, a flag variety over a compact complex manifold $B$. We shall obtain a description of the cohomology of $E$ when $B=X_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash X, E=Y_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash Y$ and $F=K/H$, a flag variety, where $Y=G/H$ and $X=G/K$, a Hermitian globally symmetric space of non-compact type with $G$ being a real, connected, non-compact, semisimple linear Lie group with no compact factors and simply connected complexification, $K\subset G$, a maximal compact subgroup, $H=Z_K(S)$, the centralizer in $K$ of a toral subgroup $S\subseteq K$ containing $Z(K)$, the center of $K$ and $\Gamma\subset G$, a uniform and torsionless lattice in $G$. We also obtain a description of the Picard group of $Y_\Gamma$ and $X_{\Gamma}$, for which the complexification of $G$ need not be simply connected. Moreover when $G$ is simple, we obtain the values of $ q$ for which $H^{p,q}(X_\Gamma)$ vanishes when $p=0,1$. This extends the results of R. Parthasarathy from $1980$, who considered (partially) the case $p=0$.

Abstract:We first discuss the problems in the theory of ordinary differential equations that gave rise to the concept of a flag system and illustrate these with the Cartan criterion for Monge equations (1st order) as well as the Cartan statement concerning the local equivalence of Monge–Ampère type equations (2nd order). Next, we describe a prolongation functor operating on the infinitesimal symmetries (automorphisms) of the Darboux flag and extending these, isomorphically, to all the symmetries of any other flag. Hence, flag systems cannot be distinguished by their symmetry algebras and the local classification of these objects is approached by considering higher order isotropies of these algebras as well as the groupoids of k -th order formal equivalences since the differential equations defining the latter provide precious information for the application of flag systems to differential equations (e.g., Cartan's criterion for non-linear Monge equations). In examining the behavior of the isotropy algebras, that can either diminish or remain the same, when passing from a derived system S ν to the consecutive system S ν + 1 , we obtain a full set of numerical invariants for the elementary flag systems that moreover specifies the local models.

A flag version of Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian for surfaces

Abstract:In this paper we define and study a generalization of the Belinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian to the case where the curve is replaced by a smooth projective surface $X$, and the trivialization data are given on loci suitably associated to a nonlinear flag of closed subschemes. In order to do this, we first establish some general formal gluing results for moduli of almost perfect complexes, perfect complexes and torsors. We then construct a simplicial object $Fl_X$ of flags of closed subschemes of a smooth projective surface $X$, naturally associated to the operation of taking union of flags. We prove that this simplicial object has the 2-Segal property. For an affine complex algebraic group $G$, we finally define a derived, flag analog $Gr_X$ of the Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian of $G$-bundles on the surface $X$, and show that most of the properties of the Beilinson-Drinfeld Grassmannian for curves can be extended to our flag generalization. In particular, we prove a factorization formula, the existence of a canonical flat connection, and define a chiral product on suitable sheaves on $Fl_X$ and on $Gr_X$. We also sketch the construction of actions of flags analogs of the loop group and of the positive loop group on $Gr_X$. To fixed ``large'' flags on $X$, we associate ``exotic'' derived structures on the classical stack of $G$-bundles on $X$. Analogs of the flag Grassmannian for other Perf-local stacks (replacing the stack of $G$-bundles) are briefly considered, and flag factorization is proved for them, too.

Abstract: We study moduli space of holomorphic triples $E_{1}\xrightarrow{\phi} E_{2}$, composed of torsion-free sheaves $E_{i}, i=1,2$ and a holomorphic mophism between them, over a smooth complex projective surface $S$. The triples are equipped with Schmitt stability condition [Alg Rep Th. 6. 1. pp 1-32, 2003]. We observe that when Schmitt stability parameter $q(m)$ becomes sufficiently large, the moduli space of triples benefits from having a perfect relative and absolute deformation-obstruction theory in some cases. We further generalize our construction by gluing triple moduli spaces, and extend the earlier work of Gholampour-Sheshmani-Yau [arXiv:1701.08899] where the obstruction theory of nested Hilbert schemes over the surface was studied. Here we extend the earlier results to the moduli space of chains$$E_{1}\xrightarrow{\phi_{1}} E_{2}\xrightarrow{\phi_{2}} \cdots \xrightarrow{\phi_{n-1}} E_{n},$$ where $\phi_{i}$ are injective morphisms and $rk(E_{i})\geq 1, \forall i$. There is a connection, by wallcrossing in the master space in the sense of Mochizuki, between the theory of such higher rank flags, and the theory of Higgs pairs on the surface, which provides the means to relate the flag invariants to the local DT invariants of threefold given by a line bundle on the surface, $X :=Tot(\mathcal{L} \to S)$. The latter, when $\mathcal{L}=\omega_{S}$, provides the means to compute the contribution of higher rank flag sheaves to partition function of Vafa-Witten theory on $X$.

Abstract:Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. Let $G$ be a connected reductive group over $k$, $P \subseteq G$ be a parabolic subgroup and $\lambda: P \longrightarrow G$ be a strictly anti-dominant character. Let $C$ be a projective smooth curve over $k$ with function field $K=k(C)$ and $F$ be a principal $G$-bundle on $C$. Then $F/P \longrightarrow C$ is a flag bundle and $\mathcal{L}_\lambda=F \times_P k_\lambda$ on $F/P$ is a relatively ample line bundle. We compute the height filtration, successive minima, and the Boucksom-Chen concave transform of the height function $h_{\mathcal{L}_\lambda}: X(\overline{K}) \longrightarrow \mathbb{R}$ over the flag variety $X=(F/P)_K$. An interesting application is that the height of $X$ equals to a weighted average of successive minima, and one may view this as a refinement of Zhang's inequality of successive minima. Let $f \in N^1(F/P)$ be the numerical class of a vertical fiber. We compute the augmented base loci $\mathrm{B}_+(\mathcal{L}_\lambda-tf)$ for any $t \in \mathbb{R}$, and it turns out that they are almost the same as the height filtration. As a corollary, we compute the $k$-th movable cones of flag bundles over curves for all $k$.

Abstract:This paper is a direct generalization of Baker-Bowler theory to flag matroids, including its moduli interpretation as developed by Baker and the second author for matroids. More explicitly, we extend the notion of flag matroids to flag matroids over any tract, provide cryptomorphic descriptions in terms of basis axioms (Grassmann-Plücker functions), circuit/vector axioms and dual pairs, including additional characterizations in the case of perfect tracts. We establish duality of flag matroids and construct minors. Based on the theory of ordered blue schemes, we introduce flag matroid bundles and construct their moduli space, which leads to algebro-geometric descriptions of duality and minors. Taking rational points recovers flag varieties in several geometric contexts: over (topological) fields, in tropical geometry, and as a generalization of the MacPhersonian.

Abstract:Let $k$ be a field, let $H \subset G$ be (possibly disconnected) reductive groups over $k$, and let $\Gamma$ be a finitely generated group. Vinberg and Martin have shown that the induced morphism of character varieties \[ \underline{\mathrm{Hom}}_{k\textrm{-gp}}(\Gamma, H)//H \to \underline{\mathrm{Hom}}_{k\textrm{-gp}}(\Gamma, G)//G \] is finite. In this note, we generalize this result (with a significantly different proof) by replacing $k$ with an arbitrary locally noetherian scheme, answering a question of Dat. Along the way, we use Bruhat-Tits theory to establish a few apparently new results about integral models of reductive groups over discrete valuation rings.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a $K$-vector space of dimension $n+1$. In this paper, we focus our attention into the existence of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on flag manifolds $\FF(p, q,n)$ which parameterizes all chains of linear subspaces $L_{p} \subset L_{q} \subset \PP(V)$ of dimension $p< q$, respectively. We determine all irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on $\FF(0,n-1,n)$ and we prove that there are exactly $2^{n-1}$. Similarly, we prove that $\FF(0,n-2,n)$ and $\FF(1,n-1,n)$ are also the support of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles. On the other hand, we prove that $\FF(0,1,n)$ do not support any irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundle. We end posing a conjecture concerning the existence of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on $\FF(p,q,n)$ in terms of $p$ and $q$.

Inequalities and enumerative formulas for flags of Pfaff systems

Abstract:In this work, we study inequalities and enumerative formulas for flags of Pfaff systems on $\mathbb{P}^n_{\mathbb{C}}$. More specifically, we find the number of independent Pfaff systems that leave invariant a one-dimensional holomorphic foliation and deduce inequalities relating the degrees in the flags, which can be interpreted as the Poincaré problem for flags. Moreover, restricting to a flag of specific holomorphic foliations/distributions, we obtain inequalities involving the degrees. As a consequence, we prove stability results for the tangent sheaf of some rank two holomorphic foliations/distributions.

Uniform bundles on generalised Grassmannians

Abstract:Let $E$ be a uniform bundle on an arbitrary generalised Grassmannian $X$ defined over $\mathbb{C}$. We show that if the rank of $E$ is at most $e.d.(\mathrm{VMRT})$, then $E$ necessarily splits. For some generalised Grassmannians, we prove that the upper bounds $e.d.(\mathrm{VMRT})$ are optimal and classify all unsplit uniform bundles of minimal ranks. Under some special assumptions, we show that morphisms to some generalised flag varieties must be constant, which partially answered a conjecture of Kumar.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth complex projective curve and let $E$ be a vector bundle on $X$ which is not semistable. We consider a flag bundle $\pi: \text{Fl}(E) \to X$ parametrizing certain flags of fibers of $E$. The dimensions of the successive quotients of the flags are determined by the ranks of vector bundles appearing in the Harder-Narasimhan filtration of $E$. We compute the Seshadri constants of nef line bundles on $\text{Fl}(E)$.

Abstract:By using moving frames and directred digraphs, we study invariant (1,2)-symplectic structures on complex Rag manifolds. Let F be a Rag manifold with height k - 1. We show that there is a k-dimensional family of invariant (1,2)-symplectic metrics of any parabolic structure on F. We also prove any invariant almost complex structure J on F with height 4 admits an invariant (1,2)-symplectic metric if and only ii J is parabolic or integrable.

Abstract:We extend the results on the graph closures of the birational maps between projective spaces and Grassmannians to the case of PBW degenerate flag varieties. The advantage of the PBW degenerate flags (as opposed to their classical analogues) is the existence of a large group of symmetries for the graph closures. We discuss the combinatorial, algebraic and geometric sides of the picture. In particular, we show that toric degenerations of Borovik, Sturmfels and Sverrisdóttir are still available in the general settings. We also derive a description of the graph closures for flag varieties in terms of quiver representations.
