Abstract:In [Beh12, Lem. A.4.1], Behrens generalized the classical geometric boundary theorem [Rav86, Thm. 2.3.4]. In this article, we will reformulate [Beh12, Lem. A.4.1] to fix a mistake made by Behrens, and prove it using the language of filtered spectra.

Abstract:We generalize a theorem of Bismut–Zhang, which extends the Cheeger–Müller theorem on Ray–Singer torsion and Reidemeister torsion, to the case of infinite Galois covering spaces. Our result is stated in the framework of extended cohomology, and generalizes in this case a recent result of Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai. It does not use the determinant class condition and thus also (potentially) generalizes several results on L2-torsions due to Burghelea, Friedlander, Kappeler and McDonald. We combine the framework developed by Braverman–Carey–Farber–Mathai on the determinant of extended cohomology with the heat kernel method developed in the original paper of Bismut–Zhang to prove our result.

Abstract:Existing spectral quadrangulation methods are effective only for closed surfaces, because they cannot satisfactorily handle surfaces with boundaries or feature lines that need to be respected. We propose an extension to the spectral quadrangulation approach that ensures boundary/feature conformation. Our contributions include the formulation of a set of new boundary conditions and the introduction of quasi-eigenfunctions that are solutions of a PDE with the new boundary conditions. We also develop algorithms for computing the quasi-eigenfunctions and extracting their Morse-Smale complexes to generate desired quadrangulation. We further extend the method to generating adaptive quadrangulation observing a pre-specified density function. Experiments show that our method produces better quadrilateral meshes with conforming boundaries/features and varying element size than existing methods do.

Motivated by the spectral Einstein functional and the sub-signature operator, we relate them to the noncommutative residue for manifolds with boundary. And we give the proof of the Dabrowski-Sitarz-Zalecki type theorems for the spectral Einstein functional associated with the sub-signature operator on 4-dimensional manifolds with boundary.

Abstract:We prove a substantial extension of an inverse spectral theorem of Ambarzumyan, and show that it can be applied to arbitrary compact Riemannian manifolds, compact quantum graphs and finite combinatorial graphs, subject to the imposition of Neumann (or Kirchhoff) boundary conditions.

A General Blue-Shift Phenomenon

Abstract:In chromatic homotopy theory, there is a well-known conjecture called blue-shift phenomenon (BSP). In this paper, we propose a general blue-shift phenomenon (GBSP) which unifies BSP and a new variant of BSP introduced by Balmer-Sanders under one framework. To explain GBSP, we use the roots of $p^j$-series of the formal group law of a complex-oriented spectrum $E$ in the homotopy group of the generalized Tate spectrum of $E$. We also incorporate the relationship between roots and coefficients of a polynomial in any commutative ring. With this fresh perspective, we successfully achieve our goal of explaining GBSP for certain abelian cases. Additionally, we establish that the generalized Tate construction lowers Bousfield class, along with numerous Tate vanishing results. These findings strengthen and extend previous theorems of Balmer-Sanders and Ando-Morava-Sadofsky. While our approach only reproduces a result of Barthel-Hausmann-Naumann-Nikolaus-Noel-Stapleton, it appears to be more accessible for dealing with GBSP in non-abelian cases. Furthermore, our approach simplifies the original proof of a result of Bonventre-Guillou-Stapleton, indicating that its applications are not limited to GBSP. As a result, our approach holds significant promise and merits further study and application.

Abstract:We provide a relatively compact proof of the BPHZ theorem for regularity structures of decorated trees in the case where the driving noise satisfies a suitable spectral gap property, as in the Gaussian case. This is inspired by the recent work (Linares et al. in A diagram-free approach to the stochastic estimates in regularity structures, 2021. arXiv:2112.10739) in the multi-index setting, but our proof relies crucially on a novel version of the reconstruction theorem for a space of "pointed Besov modelled distributions". As a consequence, the analytical core of the proof is quite short and self-contained, which should make it easier to adapt the proof to different contexts (such as the setting of discrete models).

Spectral geometry on manifolds with fibred boundary metrics I: Low energy resolvent

Abstract:We study the low energy resolvent of the Hodge Laplacian on a manifold equipped with a fibred boundary metric. We determine the precise asymptotic behavior of the resolvent as a fibred boundary (aka $\phi$-) pseudodifferential operator when the resolvent parameter tends to zero. This generalizes previous work by Guillarmou and Sher who considered asymptotically conic metrics, which correspond to the special case when the fibres are points. The new feature in the case of non-trivial fibres is that the resolvent has different asymptotic behavior on the subspace of forms that are fibrewise harmonic and on its orthogonal complement. To deal with this, we introduce an appropriate 'split' pseudodifferential calculus, building on and extending work by Grieser and Hunsicker. Our work sets the basis for the discussion of spectral invariants on $\phi$-manifolds.

Abstract: In this paper, we present an alternative and elementary proof of a sharp version of the classical boundary Schwarz lemma by Frolova et al. with initial proof via analytic semigroup approach and Julia-Carath\'eodory theorem for univalent holomorphic self-mappings of the open unit disk $\mathbb D\subset \mathbb C$. Our approach has its extra advantage to get the extremal functions of the inequality in the boundary Schwarz lemma.
Boundary spectral estimates for semiclassical Gevrey operators

Abstract:We obtain the spectral and resolvent estimates for semiclassical pseudodifferential operators with symbol of Gevrey-$s$ regularity, near the boundary of the range of the principal symbol. We prove that the boundary spectrum free region is of size ${\mathcal O}(h^{1-\frac{1}{s}})$ where the resolvent is at most fractional exponentially large in $h$, as the semiclassical parameter $h\to 0^+$. This is a natural Gevrey analogue of a result by N. Dencker, J. Sj{ö}strand, and M. Zworski in the $C^{\infty}$ and analytic cases.

Abstract:A classical result of Erdős and Rademacher (1955) indicates a supersaturation phenomenon. It says that if $G$ is a graph on $n$ vertices with at least $\lfloor {n^2}/{4} \rfloor +1$ edges, then $G$ contains at least $\lfloor {n}/{2}\rfloor$ triangles. We prove a spectral version of Erdős--Rademacher's theorem. Moreover, Mubayi [Adv. Math. 225 (2010)] extends the result of Erdős and Rademacher from a triangle to any color-critical graph. It is interesting to study the extension of Mubayi from a spectral perspective. However, it is not apparent to measure the increment on the spectral radius of a graph comparing to the traditional edge version (Mubayi's result). In this paper, we provide a way to measure the increment on the spectral radius of a graph and propose a spectral version on the counting problems for color-critical graphs.

Abstract:We study the interplay between spectrum, geometry and boundary conditions for two distinguished self-adjoint realisations of the Laplacian on infinite metric graphs, the so-called Friedrichs and Neumann extensions. We introduce a new criterion for compactness of the resolvent and apply this to identify a transition from purely discrete to non-empty essential spectrum among a class of infinite metric graphs, a phenomenon that seems to have no known counterpart for Laplacians on Euclidean domains of infinite volume. In the case of discrete spectrum we then prove upper and lower bounds on eigenvalues, thus extending a number of bounds previously only known in the compact setting to infinite graphs. Some of our bounds, for instance in terms of the inradius, are new even on compact graphs.

Abstract:The Lagrange and Markov spectra have been studied since late 19th century, concerning badly approximable real numbers. The Mordell-Gruber spectrum has been studied since 1936, concerning the supremum of the area of a rectangle centered at the origin that contains no other points of a unimodular lattice. We develop techniques that incorporate unimodular lattices and integer sequences, providing the log-systole function which unifies four famous spectra. We compute the Mordell-Gruber spectrum in the two-dimensional case and generalize Perron's formulas behind some famous spectra. Furthermore, we generalize the sum of Cantor sets to prove that certain functions on cartesian product of two Cantor sets contain an interval. Combining the techniques, we prove closedness and existence of Hall's interval in several different applications.

Abstract:Very recently Ma and Wu \cite{wu2024generalization} obtained a generalization of Fielder's lemma and applied to find adjacency, Laplacian, and signless Laplacian spectra of $P_n-$ product of commuting graphs. In this paper, we give a generalization of Fielder's lemma applying which not only one gets generalized result in \cite{wu2024generalization} as a particular case, but also one can find several kind of spectra of $H$-product of graphs when $H$ is an arbitrary graph. Moreover, we compute adjacency spectrum of $H-$ product of commuting graphs and universal adjacency spectrum of $H-$ product of commuting regular graphs.

Abstract:We construct the geometric Langlands functor in one direction (from the automorphic to the spectral side) in characteristic zero settings (i.e., de Rham and Betti). We prove that various forms of the conjecture (de Rham vs Betti, restricted vs. non-restricted, tempered vs. non-tempered) are equivalent. We also discuss structural properties of Hecke eigensheaves.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce a notion of Poincaré exponent for isometric representations of discrete groups on Hilbert spaces. Similarly as growth exponents control the geometry this exponent is shown to control the size of spectral gaps. Following similar ideas as Patterson and Sullivan it is used in the case of negatively curved groups to construct weakly contained boundary representations reflecting the spectral properties of the original representation analogously as complementary series representations in the case of semi-simple Lie groups. This is exploited to deduced sharp estimates on spectral invariants. A quantitive property (T) á la Cowling is also established proving uniform bound on the mixing rate of representations of hyperbolic groups with property (T). Along the way some properties of boundary representations are discussed. A original characterisation of the positivity of the so-called Knapp-Stein operators and certain fusion rules on the boundary complementary series representations are established.

Abstract:In this note we simplify the derivation of the error estimates for the generalized Babuška–Brezzi theory with Galerkin schemes defined in terms of approximate bilinear forms and functionals. More precisely, we provide a straight proof that makes no use of any translated continuous or discrete kernel nor of the distance between them, but of suitable upper bounds of the distances of each component of the Galerkin solution to any other member of the respective finite element subspace. In this way, the Strang error estimates are obtained simply by applying the aforementioned bounds along with the triangle inequality, so that they become cleaner and with fully explicit constants. The case in which the discrete bilinear forms can be evaluated at the continuous solution is also considered, which yields the consistency terms to appear separately from the distances to the subspaces, thus allowing the former to be handled independently from the latter.
