Abstract:Plasma technology has found widespread applications in numerous domains, yet the techniques to manipulate plasma transport predominantly rely on magnetic control. In this review, we present a streamlined diffusion-migration method to characterize plasma transport. Based on this framework, the viability of the transformation theory for plasma transport is demonstrated. Highlighted within are three model devices designed to cloak, concentrate, and rotate plasmas without significantly altering the density profile of background plasmas. Additionally, insights regarding potential implications for novel physics are discussed. This review aims to contribute to advancements in plasma technology, especially in sectors like medicine and chemistry.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: How to effectively manipulate plasma transmission through diffusion metamaterials. Specifically, the paper explores the possibility of using transformation theory to design new plasma devices that can achieve plasma invisibility, concentration, and rotation without significantly changing the background plasma density distribution. ### Detailed Explanation: 1. **Limitations of Traditional Methods**: - Currently, the manipulation of plasma transmission mainly depends on external magnetic field control. Although this method is effective, it has limitations in terms of precise control. - Transformation theory provides a new strategy for manipulating the trajectories of matter or energy, but its application in the field of plasma transmission is still in the initial exploration stage. 2. **Application of Transformation Theory**: - The paper introduces the diffusion - migration model and, based on this framework, demonstrates the feasibility of transformation theory in plasma transmission. - Research shows that under steady - state conditions, the transformed diffusion - migration equation remains unchanged in form; and under transient conditions, by setting a sufficiently small diffusion coefficient, it can approximately remain unchanged in form. 3. **Proof - of - Concept Devices**: - The paper proposes three conceptual plasma devices: a cloak, a concentrator, and a rotator. - The design of these devices aims to achieve specific functions while not significantly affecting the plasma distribution in the background medium. - **Cloak**: Protect the core area so that the background medium and the core area do not affect each other. - **Concentrator**: Increase the plasma density gradient in the core area. - **Rotator**: Change the propagation direction of plasma in the core area. 4. **Potential Applications**: - The paper discusses the potential applications of these devices in fields such as biomedicine, catalysis, and aerospace. For example, the cloak can be used to protect healthy tissues from the effects of plasma treatment; the concentrator can enhance the interaction between the catalyst and plasma, improving catalytic performance. 5. **Future Prospects**: - Although the application of transformation theory in plasma transmission has broad prospects, it still faces many challenges, such as the complex interaction between electromagnetic fields and charged particles, temperature fluctuations, etc. - Further research and development of new theoretical models and methods are required to better understand and control the plasma transmission process. Through the above research, the paper provides new ideas and tools for the development of plasma technology, especially having important significance in fields such as energy management, materials science, and biomedicine.
