Abstract:Using appropriate QCD finite energy sum rules, we discuss the influence of an external magnetic field and baryonic density on the axial-vector coupling constant $g_{A}$. This scenario corresponds to a magnetar environment. We found that $g_{A}$ decreases both as function of the magnetic field strength and the baryonic density. It turns out that at the nuclear density $\rho _{0}$ the axial-vector coupling takes the value $g_{A}^{*} \approx 0.92$. Although $g_{A}$ decreases in general with the magnetic field intensity, $g_{A}^{*}$ does not change in a relevant way with the magnetic field.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the change of the nucleon axial - vector coupling constant \( g_A \) under extreme conditions, specifically in the magnetar environment. Specifically, the researchers are concerned with the influence of the external magnetic field strength and baryon density on \( g_A \). By using the appropriate quantum chromodynamics (QCD) finite - energy sum rules (FESR), the author explores how these external conditions change the value of \( g_A \). ### Research Background - **Hadronic Matter Behavior under Extreme Conditions**: For a long time, people have been concerned about the behavior of hadronic matter under extreme conditions. Early research mainly focused on two scenarios: one is the influence of temperature and magnetic field on hadronic parameters (such as mass, width, effective coupling constant, form factor, etc.); the other is the influence of temperature and baryon density as the main external factors on the behavior of hadronic matter. - **Axial - Vector Coupling in Neutron Stars**: The axial - vector coupling \( g_A \) is crucial for the neutrino emission rate of neutron stars because it is related to the nuclear β - decay process. The neutron decay width is proportional to \( 1 + 3g_A^2 \), and the electron - capture process is also part of the URCA process. ### Research Methods - **Finite - Energy Sum Rules (FESR)**: The author uses the FESR method, which involves three - flow correlation functions of protons, axial vectors, and neutrons. This method allows the determination of the change of \( g_A \) with magnetic field strength and baryon density. - **Two - Nucleon Correlation Function**: In order to find the change of nucleon - current coupling with the properties of the medium and the evolution of the continuum threshold, a set of FESR of two - nucleon correlation functions (proton - proton and neutron - neutron) also needs to be considered. ### Main Findings - **Influence of Magnetic Field and Baryon Density**: The study found that as the magnetic field strength and baryon density increase, the value of \( g_A \) will decrease. At the nuclear density \( \rho_0 \), the value of the axial - vector coupling \( g_A \) is approximately 0.92. - **Influence of Magnetic Field Strength**: Although \( g_A \) generally decreases with the increase of magnetic field strength, at the nuclear density, the value of \( g_A \) hardly changes when the magnetic field strength changes. ### Conclusions - **Axial - Vector Coupling in the Neutron Star Environment**: Through the appropriate FESR method, this study discusses in detail the evolution of \( g_A \) under the change of baryon density and magnetic field strength. The research results show that in the magnetar environment, the value of \( g_A \) will be significantly affected, especially at high baryon density, the influence of magnetic field strength on \( g_A \) is small. In summary, this paper aims to understand the behavior of the nucleon axial - vector coupling constant \( g_A \) inside neutron stars under extreme conditions, which is of great significance for understanding the physical properties of neutron stars.
