Abstract:We extend Auslander--Iyama correspondence to the setting of exact dg categories. By specializing it to exact dg categories concentrated in degree zero, we obtain a generalization of the higher Auslander correspondence for exact categories due to Ebrahimi--Nasr-Isfahani (in the case of exact categories with split retractions).

Abstract:We show that a noetherian ring graded by an abelian group of finite rank satisfies the Auslander condition if and only if it satisfies the graded Auslander condition. In addition, we also study the injective dimension, the global dimension and the Cohen–Macaulay property from the same perspective as that for the Auslander condition. A key step of our approach is to establish homological relations between a graded ring [Formula: see text], its quotient ring modulo the ideal [Formula: see text] and its localization ring with respect to the Ore set [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a homogeneous regular normal non-invertible element of [Formula: see text].

Abstract:The Auslander correspondence is a fundamental result in Auslander-Reiten theory. In this paper we introduce the category $\operatorname{mod_{\mathsf{adm}}}(\mathcal{E})$ of admissibly finitely presented functors and use it to give a version of Auslander correspondence for any exact category $\mathcal{E}$. An important ingredient in the proof is the localization theory of exact categories. We also investigate how properties of $\mathcal{E}$ are reflected in $\operatorname{mod_{\mathsf{adm}}}(\mathcal{E})$, for example being (weakly) idempotent complete or having enough projectives or injectives. Furthermore, we describe $\operatorname{mod_{\mathsf{adm}}}(\mathcal{E})$ as a subcategory of $\operatorname{mod}(\mathcal{E})$ when $\mathcal{E}$ is a resolving subcategory of an abelian category. This includes the category of Gorenstein projective modules and the category of maximal Cohen-Macaulay modules as special cases. Finally, we use $\operatorname{mod_{\mathsf{adm}}}(\mathcal{E})$ to give a bijection between exact structures on an idempotent complete additive category $\mathcal{C}$ and certain resolving subcategories of $\operatorname{mod}(\mathcal{C})$.

Abstract:We generalize the notions of $d$-cluster tilting pair and $d$-Auslander exact dg category to $d$-precluster tilting triple and $d$-minimal Auslander--Gorenstein exact dg category. We give a bijection between equivalence classes of $d$-precluster tilting triples and equivalence classes of $d$-minimal Auslander--Gorenstein exact dg categories. Our bijection generalizes Iyama--Solberg correspondence for module categories.

Abstract:We introduce the concept of an n -minimal Auslander–Gorenstein category and n -precluster tilting subcategory. With this, we create an analog of the higher Auslander–Solberg correspondence (Iyama–Solberg 2018) for exact categories. Our approach is based on the recent generalization of the (higher) Auslander correspondence to exact categories (Henrard–Kvamme–Roosmalen 2020, Ebrahimi–Nasr-Isfahani 2021).

Abstract:For an exact dg category $\mathcal A$, we introduce its bounded dg derived category $\mathcal{D}^b_{dg}(\mathcal A)$ and establish the universal exact morphism from $\mathcal A$ to $\mathcal{D}^b_{dg}(\mathcal A)$. We prove that the dg quotient of an exact dg category by a subcategory of projective-injectives carries a canonical exact structure. We show that exact dg categories reproduce under tensor products and functor dg categories. We apply our results to 0-Auslander extriangulated categories and confirm a conjecture by Fang-Gorsky-Palu-Plamondon-Pressland for the algebraic case.

Abstract:We define notions of regularity and (Barr-)exactness for 2-categories. In fact, we define three notions of regularity and exactness, each based on one of the three canonical ways of factorising a functor in Cat: as (surjective on objects, injective on objects and fully faithful), as (bijective on objects, fully faithful), and as (bijective on objects and full, faithful). The correctness of our notions is justified using the theory of lex colimits introduced by Lack and the second author. Along the way, we develop an abstract theory of regularity and exactness relative to a kernel--quotient factorisation, extending earlier work of Street and others.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of an exact dg category, which is a simultaneous generalization of the notions of exact category in the sense of Quillen and of pretriangulated dg category in the sense of Bondal--Kapranov. It is also a differential graded analogue of Barwick's notion of exact $\infty$-category and a differential graded enhancement of Nakaoka--Palu's notion of extriangulated category. It is completely different from Positselski's notion of exact DG-category. Our motivations come for example from the categories appearing in the additive categorification of cluster algebras with coefficients. We give a definition in complete analogy with Quillen's but where the category of kernel-cokernel pairs is replaced with a more sophisticated homotopy category. We obtain a number of fundamental results concerning the dg nerve, the dg derived category, tensor products and functor categories with exact dg target. For example, we show that for a given dg category $\mathcal{A}$ with additive homotopy category $H^0(\mathcal{A})$, there is a bijection between exact structures on $\mathcal{A}$ and exact structures (in the sense of Barwick) on the dg nerve of $\mathcal{A}$. We also show the existence of the greatest exact structure on a (small) dg category with additive homotopy category. This generalizes a theorem of Rump for Quillen exact categories.

Abstract:Extriangulated categories were introduced by Nakaoka and Palu as asimultaneous generalization of exact categories and triangulated categories. Abstract:We introduce the notion of exact dg category, which provides a differential graded enhancement of Nakaoka--Palu's notion of extriangulated category. We give a definition in complete analogy with Quillen's but where the category of kernel-cokernel pairs is replaced with a more sophisticated homotopy category. We introduce the notion of stable dg category, and prove that the $H^0$-category of an exact dg category $\mathcal{A}$ is triangulated if and only if $\mathcal{A}$ is stable. We illustrate our theory with several examples including the homotopy category of two-term complexes and Amiot's fundamental domain for generalized cluster categories.

Abstract:The notion of an extriangulated category gives a unification of existing theories in exact or abelian categories and in triangulated categories. In this article, we develop Auslander--Reiten theory for extriangulated categories. This unifies Auslander--Reiten theories developed in exact categories and triangulated categories independently. We give two different sets of sufficient conditions on the extriangulated category so that existence of almost split extensions becomes equivalent to that of an Auslander--Reiten--Serre duality. We also show that existence of almost split extensions is preserved under taking relative extriangulated categories, ideal quotients, and extension-closed subcategories. Moreover, we prove that the stable category $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$ of an extriangulated category $\mathscr{C}$ is a $\tau$-category if $\mathscr{C}$ has enough projectives, almost split extensions and source morphisms. This gives various consequences on $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$, including Igusa--Todorov's Radical Layers Theorem, Auslander--Reiten Combinatorics on dimensions of Hom-spaces, and Reconstruction Theorem of the associated completely graded category of $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$ via the complete mesh category of the Auslander--Reiten species of $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$. Finally we prove that any locally finite symmetrizable $\tau$-quiver (=valued translation quiver) is an Auslander--Reiten quiver of some extriangulated category with sink morphisms and source morphisms.

Symplectic higher Auslander correspondence for type A

Abstract:We prove that the Fukaya-Seidel categories of a certain family of singularities on $\mathbb{C}^d$ are equivalent to the perfect derived categories of higher Auslander algebras of Dynkin type A. We relate these to the Fukaya-Seidel categories of Brieskorn-Pham singularities and to the partially wrapped Fukaya categories considered by Dyckerhoff-Jasso-Lekili. We provide a symplectic interpretation to higher Auslander correspondence of type A in terms of Fukaya-Seidel categories of Lefschetz fibrations.

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be a finite dimensional algebra. Let $\mathcal C$ be a functorially finite exact subcategory of $\Lambda$-mod with enough projective and injective objects and $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$ be its monomorphism category. It turns out that the category $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$ has almost split sequences. We show an explicit formula for the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$. Furthermore, if $\mathcal C$ is a stably $d$-Calabi-Yau Frobenius category, we calculate objects under powers of Auslander-Reiten translation in the triangulated category $\overline{\mathcal S(\mathcal C)}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a higher dimensional version of Auslander-Iyama-Solberg correspondence. Iyama and Solberg have shown a bijection between $n$-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras and $n$-precluster tilting modules. If $A$ is an $n$-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebra, then the pair $(A,P)$ is a relative $(n+1)$-Auslander-Gorenstein pair in the sense of the authors, where $P$ is the minimal faithful projective-injective left $A$-module.

Abstract:It is well known that for Auslander algebras, the category of all (finitely generated) projective modules is an abelian category and this property of abelianness characterizes Auslander algebras by Tachikawa theorem in 1974. Let $n$ be a positive integer. In this paper, by using torsion theoretic methods, we show that $ n $-Auslander algebras can be characterized by the abelianness of the category of modules with projective dimension less than $ n $ and a certain additional property, extending the classical Auslander-Tachikawa theorem. By Auslander-Iyama correspondence a categorical characterization of the class of Artin algebras having $ n $-cluster tilting modules is obtained. Since higher Auslander algebras are a special case of higher Auslander-Gorenstein algebras, the results are given in the general setting as extending previous results of Kong. Moreover, as an application of some results, we give categorical descriptions for the semisimplicity and selfinjectivity of an Artin algebra. Higher Auslander-Gorenstein Algebras are also studied from the viewpoint of cotorsion pairs and, as application, we show that they satisfy in two nice equivalences.

Abstract:It follows from the work of Burban and Drozd <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0905.1231" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0905.1231">arXiv:0905.1231</a> that for nodal curves $C$, the derived category of modules over the Auslander order $\mathcal{A}_C$ provides a categorical (smooth and proper) resolution of the category of perfect complexes $\mathrm{Perf}(C)$. On the A-side, it follows from the work of Haiden-Katzarkov-Kontsevich <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1409.8611" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1409.8611">arXiv:1409.8611</a> that for punctured surfaces $X$ with stops $\Lambda$ at their boundary, the partially wrapped Fukaya category $\mathcal{W}(X,\Lambda)$ provides a categorical (smooth and proper) resolution of the compact Fukaya category $\mathcal{F}(X)$. Inspired by this analogy, we establish an equivalence between the derived category of modules over the Auslander orders over certain nodal stacky curves and partially wrapped Fukaya categories associated to punctured surfaces of arbitrary genus equipped with stops at their boundary. As an application, we deduce equivalences between derived categories of coherent sheaves (resp. perfect complexes) on such nodal stacky curves and the wrapped (resp. compact) Fukaya categories of punctured surfaces of arbitrary genus.

Higher Auslander-Reiten sequences revisited

Abstract:Let $(\mathscr{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an $n$-exangulated category with enough projectives and enough injectives, and $\mathscr{X}$ be a cluster-tilting subcategory of $\mathscr{C}$. Liu and Zhou have shown that the quotient category $\mathscr{C}/\mathscr{X}$ is an $n$-abelian category. In this paper, we prove that if $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles, then $\mathscr{C}/\mathscr{X}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exact sequences. Moreover, we also show that if a Frobenius $n$-exangulated category $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles, then the stable category $\overline{\mathscr{C}}$ of $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $(n+2)$-angles.

Abstract:We study homological behavior of modules satisfying the Auslander condition. Assume that $\mathcal{AC}$ is the class of left $R$-modules satisfying the Auslander condition. It is proved that each cycle of an exact complex with each term in $\mathcal{AC}$ belongs to $\mathcal{AC}$ for any ring $R$. As a consequence, we show that for any left Noetherian ring $R$, $\mathcal{AC}$ is a resolving subcategory of the category of left $R$-modules if and only if $_RR$ satisfies the Auslander condition if and only if each Gorenstein projective left $R$-module belongs to $\mathcal{AC}$. As an application, we prove that, for an Artinian algebra $R$ satisfying the Auslander condition, $R$ is Gorenstein if and only if $\mathcal{AC}$ coincides with the class of Gorenstein projective left $R$-modules if and only if $({\mathcal{AC}^{< \infty}},(\mathcal{AC}^{<\infty})^\bot)$ is a tilting-like cotorsion pair if and only if (${\mathcal{AC}^{< \infty}},\mathcal{I}$) is a tilting-like cotorsion pair, where $\mathcal{AC}^{<\infty}$ is the class of left $R$-modules with finite $\mathcal{AC}$-dimension and $\mathcal{I}$ is the class of injective left $R$-modules. This leads to some criteria for the validity of the Auslander and Reiten conjecture which says that an Artinian algebra satisfying the Auslander condition is Gorenstein.

Abstract:Let $(\mathscr{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an Ext-finite, Krull-Schmidt and $k$-linear $n$-exangulated category with $k$ a commutative artinian ring. In this note, we prove that $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality if and only if $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles. Moreover, we also give an equivalent condition for the existence of Serre duality (which is a special type of Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality). Finally, assume further that $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality. We exploit a bijection triangle, which involves the restricted Auslander bijection and the Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality.

Abstract:Auslander-Reiten duality for module categories is generalized to some sufficiently nice subcategories. In particular, our consideration works for $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}(\Lambda)$, the subcategory consisting of finitely generated modules with finite projective dimension over an artin algebra $\Lambda$, and also, the subcategory of Gorenstein projectove modules of $\rm{mod}\mbox{-}\Lambda$, denoted by $\rm{Gprj}\mbox{-}\Lambda$. In this paper, we give a method to compute the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}(\Lambda)$ whenever $\Lambda$ is a $1$-Gorenstein algebra. In addition, we characterize when the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\rm{Gprj}\mbox{-}\Lambda$ is the first syzygy and provide many algebras having such property.

Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories

Abstract:We study Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories of triangulated categories with a Serre functor. To initiate this, we use approximations of a Serre functor to construct Nakayama functors, which in turn allow for the construction of Auslander-Reiten translates and the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in suitable proper abelian subcategories. As an application, we recover the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in the category of finite dimensional modules over a finite dimensional algebra.
