Abstract:Let $\Xi_n=\{\xi_1,\dots,\xi_n\}$ be a sample of $n$ independent points distributed on a regular closed element $K$ of the extended convex ring in $\mathbb{R}^d$ according to a probability measure $\mu$ on $K$, admitting a density function. We consider random sets generated from the intersection of the translations of $K$ by elements of $\Xi_n$, as $X_n=\bigcap_{i=1}^n (K-\xi_i)$. The aim of this work is to show that scaled $X_n$ as $n\to\infty$ converges in distribution to the zero cell of a Poisson hyperplane tessellation whose distributionis is determined by the curvature measure of $K$ and the behaviour of the density of $\mu$ near the boundary of $K$.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to explore the limiting behavior of the intersection of randomly translated sets. Specifically, the author studied the point set $\Xi_n = \{\xi_1, \ldots, \xi_n\}$ sampled independently and identically distributed (i.i.d.) from a regular closed set $K$ in the high - dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^d$. The author also studied the asymptotic properties of the random set $X_n=\bigcap_{i = 1}^n(K-\xi_i)$ formed by translating $K$ through these points.
### Main problem description
1. **Definition of random sets**:
The author considered the random set $X_n=\bigcap_{i = 1}^n(K-\xi_i)$ generated by $n$ independent and identically distributed points $\xi_1,\ldots,\xi_n$ on a regular closed set $K$. Here, $K$ is an element in the extended convex ring, and these points are distributed according to a certain probability measure $\mu$, which has a density function.
2. **Objective**:
To study the distribution limit of the randomly closed set $X_n$ after appropriate scaling when $n\rightarrow\infty$. Specifically, the author hopes to prove that $n^\gamma X_n$ converges to the zero - cell $Z$ of a Poisson hyperplane tessellation, where $\gamma = (\alpha + 1)^{-1}$, and the distribution of this zero - cell is determined by the curvature measure of $K$ and the behavior of $\mu$ near the boundary of $K$.
3. **Key results**:
- When $n\rightarrow\infty$, the randomly closed set $X_n$ after appropriate scaling converges to the zero - cell $Z$ of a Poisson hyperplane tessellation.
- This convergence applies not only to the set itself but also to the expected values of geometric features such as its volume.
### Formula representation
- The random set $X_n$ is defined as:
\[
X_n=\bigcap_{i = 1}^n(K-\xi_i)
\]
- The scaled randomly closed set $n^\gamma X_n$ converges to the zero - cell $Z$, where:
\[
\gamma = (\alpha + 1)^{-1}
\]
- The zero - cell $Z$ of the Poisson hyperplane tessellation is represented as:
\[
Z=\bigcap_{i\geq1}\{x\in\mathbb{R}^d:\langle x,u_i\rangle\leq t_i\}
\]
### Conclusion
Through strict mathematical derivation and analysis, this paper proves that under appropriate conditions, the limiting behavior of the intersection of randomly translated sets can converge to a specific geometric structure (i.e., the zero - cell of a Poisson hyperplane tessellation), and this result is of great significance for understanding the asymptotic properties of random geometric structures.
