Abstract:Matter loses its original characteristics after entering a black hole, thus becoming a new kind of (black hole) matter. The property of this new matter cannot be measured experimentally, but some of it can be deduced theoretically from the Einstein equations and the conservation laws which it must still satisfy. In a previous paper, this matter is modelled by an ideal fluid, with an equation of state $p(r)=-\xi\r(r)$ between the pressure $p(r)$ and the density $\rho(r)$. In order for this matter to fill the inside of a black hole so that its property can be teased out from the Einstein and conservation equations, it must possess a negative pressure ($\xi>0$) to counter the gravitation attraction which draws all matter to the center. In that case a solution of the Einstein and conservation equations exists if and only if the constant $\xi$ is confined within a narrow range, between 0.1429 and 0.1716. In the present paper, we try to find out its dynamical response by injecting additional matter into the black hole over a period of time. The resulting solutions of the six time-dependent Einstein equations and conservation laws are presented in perturbation theory, valid if the total amount of injection is small. Even in perturbation, the solutions can be obtained only with a special trick. The result shows that the equation of state $p(r,t)=-\xi\r(r,t)$ remains unchanged with the same $\xi$ when the injection rate is constant. When the rate changes with time, $\xi$ requires a correction, $\xi\to\xi+\xi_1(r,t)$, where $\xi_1(r,t)$ appears to be correlated with the acceleration of the injected matter in a way to be shown in the text.

Abstract:We study the property of matter in equilibrium with a static, spherically symmetric black hole in D-dimensional space time. It requires that this kind of matter has an equation of state omega equivalent to pr/rho = -n/(n + 2k), k, n is an element of N (where n > 1 corresponds to a mixture of vacuum matter and "hair" matter), which seems to be independent of D. However, when we associate this result with specific models, we find that these hairy black holes can live only in some special dimensional space time: (i) D = 2 + 2k/n while the black hole is surrounded by cosmic strings, which requires D is even or D is an element of N, depending on the value of n, this is consistent with some important results in superstring theory, it might reveal the relation between cosmic string and superstring in another aspect; (ii) the black hole can be surrounded by linear dilaton field only in 4-dimensional space time. In both cases, D = 4 is special. We also present some examples of such hairy black holes in higher dimensions, including a toy model with negative energy density.

Abstract:We study the black hole spacetime structure of a model consisting of the standard Maxwell theory and a $p$-power-Yang-Mills term. This non-linear contribution introduces a non-Abelian charge into the global solution, resulting in a modified structure of the standard Reissner-Nordström black hole. Specifically, we focus on the model with $p=1/2$, which gives rise to a new type of modified Reissner-Nordström black hole. For this class of black holes, we compute the event horizon, the innermost stable circular orbit, and the conditions to preserve the weak cosmic censorship conjecture. The latter condition sets a well-established relation between the electric and the Yang-Mills charges. As a first astrophysical implication, the accretion properties of spherical steady flows are investigated in detail. Extensive numerical examples of how the Yang-Mills charge affects the accretion process of an isothermal fluid in comparison to the standard Reissner-Nordström and Schwarzschild black holes are displayed. Finally, analytical solutions in the fully relativistic regime, along with numerical computations, of the mass accretion rate for a polytropic fluid in terms of the electric and Yang-Mills charges are obtained. As a main result, the mass accretion rate efficiency is considerably improved, with respect to the standard Reissner-Nordström and Schwarzschild solutions, for negative values of the Yang-Mills charge.

Abstract:We study equilibrium conditions between a static, spherically symmetric black hole and classical matter in terms of the radial pressure to density ratio p_r/\rho = w(u), where u is the radial coordinate. It is shown that such an equilibrium is possible in two cases: (i) the well-known case w\to -1 as $u\to u_h (the horizon), i.e., "vacuum" matter, for which \rho(u_h) can be nonzero; (ii) w \to -1/(1+2k) and \rho \sim (u-u_h)^k as u\to u_h, where k>0 is a positive integer (w=-1/3 in the generic case k=1). A non-interacting mixture of these two kinds of matter can also exist. The whole reasoning is local, hence the results do not depend on any global or asymptotic conditions. They mean, in particular, that a static black hole cannot live inside a star with nonnegative pressure and density. As an example, an exact solution for an isotropic fluid with w = -1/3 (that is, a fluid of disordered cosmic strings), with or without vacuum matter, is presented.

Self-Gravitating Matter in Stationary and Axisymmetric Black Hole Spacetimes

Abstract:All black holes (BHs) in nature are expected to be described by the Kerr vacuum solution of general relativity (GR). However, the Kerr BH interior contains several problematic features such as a Cauchy horizon, a curvature singularity, and a causality-violating region. Non-Kerr BH models, which are used to examine the genericity of these features, typically contain nontrivial matter content. When such matter is minimally-coupled to Einstein-Hilbert gravity, the Einstein equations can be directly used to investigate its physical properties. We examine properties of the matter in a broad class of stationary and axisymmetric, geodesically-integrable BH spacetimes, and how they are linked to features of the spacetime geometry. In these spacetimes, we find the matter to typically flow along timelike Killing orbits in the BH exterior, usually exhibiting differential rotation but sometimes additionally also non-rigid rotation. At a horizon, the matter rest-frame energy density, $\epsilon$, and principal normal pressure, $p_n$, are shown to necessarily satisfy $p_n = -\epsilon$, implying that only specific types of matter can thread stationary event horizons (e.g., electromagnetic fields but not massless real scalar fields). Furthermore, we show the matter to be comoving with the interior cosmology. We also obtain simple expressions for the expansions of the ingoing and outgoing zero angular momentum null congruences and comment on the light-focussing behavior of the cosmology. Finally, we verify above results explicitly by working with a representative set of well-known BH spacetimes which contain various types of matter -- scalar fields, electromagnetic fields, anisotropic fluids. Some spacetimes have singularities while others have regular interiors. In the exterior, the matter satisfies the weak energy condition. The framework developed here can be extended to cover more general spacetimes.

Abstract:In this paper we present and analyze the simplest physically meaningful model for stationary black diholes - a binary configuration of counter-rotating Kerr-Newman black holes endowed with opposite electric charges - elaborated in a physical parametrization on the basis of one of the Ernst-Manko-Ruiz equatorially antisymmetric solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations. The model saturates the Gabach-Clement inequality for interacting black holes with struts, and in the absence of rotation it reduces to the Emparan-Teo electric dihole solution. The physical characteristics of each dihole constituent satisfy identically the well-known Smarr's mass formula.

Abstract:We investigate a generalized Chaplygin-like gas with an anisotropic equation of state, characterizing a dark fluid within which a static spherically symmetric black hole is assumed. By solving the Einstein equations for this black hole spacetime, we explicitly derive the metric function. The spacetime is parametrized by two critical parameters, $\mathcal{B}$ and $\alpha$, which measure the deviation from the Schwarzschild black hole and the extent of the dark fluid's anisotropy, respectively. We explore the behavior of light rays in the vicinity of the black hole by calculating its shadow and comparing our results with the Event Horizon Telescope observations. This comparison constrains the parameters to $0 \leq \mathcal{B} < 0.03$ and $0 < \alpha < 0.1$. Additionally, we calculate the deflection angles to determine the extent to which light is bent by the black hole. These calculations are further utilized to formulate possible Einstein rings, estimating the angular radius of the rings to be approximately $37.6\,\mathrm{\mu as}$. Throughout this work, we present analytical solutions wherever feasible, and employ reliable approximations where necessary to provide comprehensive insights into the spacetime characteristics and their observable effects.

Non-singular black holes interiors need physics beyond the standard model

Abstract:The composition as well as the very existence of the interior of a Schwarzschild black hole (BH) remains at the forefront of open problems in fundamental physics. To address this issue, we turn to Hawking's "principle of ignorance", which says that, for an observer with limited information, all descriptions that are consistent with known physics are equally valid. We compare three different observers who view the BH from the outside and agree on the external Schwarzschild geometry. First, the modernist, who accepts the classical BH as the final state of gravitational collapse, the singularity theorems that underlie this premise and the central singularity that the theorems predict. The modernist is willing to describe matter in terms of quantum fields in curved space but insists on (semi)classical gravity. Second is the skeptic, who wishes to evade any singular behavior by finding a loophole to the singularity theorems within the realm of classical general relativity (GR). The third is a postmodernist who similarly wants to circumvent the singularity theorems but is willing to invoke exotic quantum physics in the gravitational and/or matter sector to do so. The postmodern view suggests that the uncertainty principle can stabilize a classically singular BH in a similar manner to the stabilization of the classically unstable hydrogen atom: Strong quantum effects in the matter and gravitational sectors resolve the would-be singularity over horizon-sized length scales. The postmodern picture then requires a significant departure from (semi)classical gravity, as well as some exotic matter beyond the standard model of particle physics (SM). We find that only the postmodern framework is consistent with what is known so far about BH physics and conclude that a valid description of the BH interior needs matter beyond the SM and gravitational physics beyond (semi)classical GR.

A Fluid-Membrane Description of the BTZ Black Hole

Abstract:The 2+1 dimensional Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole has proved to be a remarkably efficient tool to test ideas about quantum aspects of gravity and holography. Here, we provide a classical fluid-membrane description of this geometry, both in static and rotating versions, that defines a dynamical viscous Newtonian fluid with non-trivial transport coefficients, mimicking the black hole. The membrane paradigm for black holes in four or more dimensions usually yields fluids with a negative bulk viscosity, which is a problem because it yields decreasing total entropy in thermal processes according to Stokes' hypothesis. However, the (rotating) BTZ black hole has a zero bulk viscosity and is amenable to a physically viable fluid membrane description at thermal equilibrium.

Abstract:Some well-known metrics used as models of static non-rotating black holes are considered. These are the Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter, Bardeen-Kiselev and McVittie models. A significant difference between them in how adequately they can describe or be the basis for describing observed astronomical objects is demonstrated. A simple method for constructing new models of static non-rotating black holes is presented. It has been shown that a region of gravitational repulsion may exist around the horizon of a Bardeen-Kiselev black hole.

Abstract:A spherically symmetric uncharged regular black hole is proposed in this paper. The black hole’s density in proportion to $r^{3n}e^{-r^{3n+3}}$, and the curvature tensor in the region of r=0 keep finity. When n=0 in our model, this spacetime is no other than Dymnikova regular black hole. What’s more, there are better properties in this spacetime when n>0. We then discuss the temperature and Hawking radiation of the black hole’s horizon.

Abstract:In this paper, we thoroughly explore two crucial aspects of a quantum Schwarzschild black solution within four-dimensional space-time: i) the weak deflection angle, ii) the rigorous greybody factor and, iii) the Dirac quasinormal modes}. Our investigation involves employing the Gauss-Bonnet theorem to precisely compute the deflection angle and establishing its correlation with the Einstein ring. Additionally, we derive the rigorous bounds for greybody factors through the utilization of general bounds for reflection and transmission coefficients in the context of Schrodinger-like one-dimensional potential scattering. We also compute the corresponding Dirac quasinormal modes using the WKB approximation. We reduce the Dirac equation to a Schrodinger-like differential equation and solve it with appropriate boundary conditions to obtain the quasinormal frequencies. To visually underscore the quantum effect, we present figures that illustrate the impact of varying the parameter $r_0$, or more specifically, in terms of the parameter $\alpha$. This comprehensive examination enhances our understanding of the quantum characteristics inherent in the Schwarzschild black solution, shedding light on both the deflection angle and greybody factors in a four-dimensional space-time framework.

Abstract:Theoretically, it has been proposed that objects traveling radially along regular black holes (RBHs) would not be destroyed because of finite tidal forces and the absence of a singularity. However, the matter source allows the creation of an inner horizon linked to an unstable de Sitter core due to mass inflation instability. This inner horizon also gives rise to the appearance of a remnant, inhibiting complete evaporation. We introduce here a d-dimensional black hole model with Localized Sources of Matter (LSM), characterized by the absence of an inner horizon and featuring a central integrable singularity instead of an unstable de Sitter core. In our model, any object tracing a radial and timelike world-line would not be crushed by the singularity. This is attributed to finite tidal forces, the extendability of radial geodesics, and the weak nature of the singularity. Our LSM model enables the potential complete evaporation down to r h = 0 without forming a remnant. In higher dimensions, complete evaporation occurs through a phase transition, which could occur at Planck scales and be speculatively driven by the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). Unlike RBHs, our model satisfies the energy conditions. We demonstrate a linear correction to the conventional area law of entropy, distinct from the RBH's correction. Additionally, we investigate the stability of the solutions through the speed of sound.

A Class of Analytical Models for Black holes Surrounded by Dark Matter Halos

Abstract:We present a class of analytic models for a dark matter halo surrounding a Schwarzschild black hole sitting at the center of a galaxy, with a variable inner radius $r_{\text{in}}$, at which the density profile of the dark matter halo vanishes. We examine in detail how the three energy conditions are satisfied in such models. In particular, we find that the three energy conditions are satisfied when $r_{\text{in}} > 5M/2$, where $M$ denotes the mass of the black hole. These solutions expressed explicitly in closed form are particularly valuable for the studies of the gravitational waveforms of extreme/intermediate mass ratio inspirals and the nature of dark matter in galaxies.

Abstract:We present a covariant model of a spherically symmetric black hole with corrections motivated by loop quantum gravity. The effective modifications, parametrized by a positive constant λ , are implemented through a canonical transformation and a linear combination of the constraints of general relativity, in such a way that the theory remains free of anomalies and general relativity is recovered for λ=0 . In addition, the corresponding metric is constructed in a fully covariant way to ensure that gauge transformations on phase space correspond to coordinate changes. The solution for each gauge choice provides a chart and corresponding line element of a spacetime solution whose geometry is unambiguously determined in terms of the parameter λ and a constant of motion m . For positive values of m , the solution is asymptotically flat and contains a globally hyperbolic black-hole/white-hole region with a minimal spacelike hypersurface that replaces the Schwarzschild singularity. The corresponding exterior regions are isometric and, in particular, allow the computation of the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner mass. Abstract:In this manuscript, we explore the concept of dark matter black holes, inspired by the Einasto density profile in the background of gravity, where is a Gauss-Bonnet invariant. This work extends the scope beyond the noncommutative tiny black hole structure which incorporates dark matter as a constituent forming the black hole. Our investigation demonstrates the feasibility of constructing black hole solutions for various Einasto index values, gravity parameters, and parameters of mass function adopting anisotropic fluid configuration to characterize the matter sector. Specifically, by adopting an equation of state in which the radial pressure equals the negative of the energy density, we derive black hole solutions exhibiting a horizon structure with the central singularity replaced by a regular de Sitter core akin to the Reissner-Nordstr"{o}m black holes. Furthermore, we explore an alternative scenario where the equation of state is nonlocal, resulting in the construction of self-gravitating fuzzy dark matter droplets together with the dark source corrections.

A Fermi Model of Quantum Black Hole

Abstract:We propose a quantum model of the Schwarzschild black hole as a quantum mechanics of a system of fermionic degrees of freedom. The system has a constant density of states and a Fermi energy that is inversely proportional to the size of the system. Assuming equivalence principle, we show that the degeneracy pressure of the Fermi degrees of freedom is able to withstand the collapse of gravity if the radius of the system is given precisely by the horizon radius of the Schwarzschild black hole. In our model, the fermionic degrees of freedom at each energy level can be entangled in certain different ways, giving rise to a multitude of degenerate ground states of the system. The counting of these microstates reproduces precisely the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy. This simple Fermi model is universal and works also for the Reissner-Nordström charged black hole as well as black hole with a cosmological constant. From the properties of the Fermi variables, we propose that quantum gravity is characterized by a principle of {\it maximal capacity of states} where there can be no more than $V /l_P^3$ quantum states in any volume $V$. It implies a loss of spatial locality below the Planck length and suggests that any singularity predicted by general relativity is resolved and replaced by a quantum space in quantum gravity. In our model, a black hole spacetime is equipped with an uniform distribution of energy levels. This is another reason why black hole can be considered a simple harmonic oscillator of quantum gravity.

Symmetric black-to-white hole solutions with a cosmological constant

Abstract:For a system with a Hamiltonian constraint, we demonstrate that its dynamics preserves invariant with respect to the choice of the lapse function, regardless of whether the Hamiltonian incorporates quantum corrections. Applying this observation to the interior of black-to-white holes, we analyze its dynamics with different choices of the lapse function. The results explicitly show that the leading-order expansion of both metrics in Refs. [1,2] and Refs. [3,4] exhibits identical behavior near the transition surface,therefore in this sense the black-to-white hole model proposed in Refs. [1,2] may be interpreted as a coarse-grained version of the solution within the framework of loop quantum gravity. The black-to-white hole solutions with exact symmetry between the black hole and white hole regions are constructed by appropriately fixing the quantum parameters in the effective theory of loop quantum gravity. This approach circumvents the issue of amplification of mass, which could arise from a mass difference between the black hole and white hole. Finally, the black-to-white hole solutions with a cosmological constant are constructed. The numerical solutions for the interior of black-to-white hole with a cosmological constant are obtained, and their symmetric behavior is also discussed.
