Abstract:In this study, we introduce and investigate a family of quantum mechanical models in 0+1 dimensions, known as generalized Born quantum oscillators. These models represent a one-parameter deformation of a specific system obtained by reducing the Nambu-Goto theory to 0+1 dimensions. Despite these systems showing significant similarities with $\mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}}$-type perturbations of two-dimensional relativistic models, our analysis reveals their potential as interesting regularizations of the Berry-Keating theory. We quantize these models using the Weyl quantization scheme up to very high orders in $\hbar$. By examining a specific scaling limit, we observe an intriguing connection between the generalized Born quantum oscillators and the Riemann-Siegel $\theta$ function.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to study the regularization problem of the Berry - Keating theory by introducing a new two - parameter time - reversal - symmetric regularization model - the Generalized Born Oscillator. Specifically, the paper aims to: 1. **Explore quantization methods**: By using the Weyl quantization technique to quantize the Generalized Born Oscillator, it is possible to extract the high - order expansion of the state number \( N(E) \), rather than just the semiclassical approximation results. 2. **Verify the Riemann hypothesis**: Study whether the quantum spectrum of the Generalized Born Oscillator can reproduce the asymptotic expansion of the Riemann - Siegel \( \theta \) function in the large - energy limit, especially the asymptotic behavior of \( N(T) \). This helps to verify the conjecture of Hilbert and Pólya about the complex zeros of the Riemann zeta function. 3. **Compare different regularization methods**: Compare the regularization methods of Berry - Keating and Connes, and explore how the Generalized Born Oscillator naturally realizes Connes' boundary conditions and makes the large - energy behaviors of \( N(E) \) and \( N(T) \) consistent in the \( u \to \infty \) limit. ### Specific problem description - **Background**: The Berry - Keating theory proposes a classical Hamiltonian \( H_{BK}=pq \), and its quantized spectrum may be related to the complex zeros of the Riemann zeta function. However, because the classical trajectories are unbounded, a regularization method needs to be introduced to obtain a discrete spectrum. - **Existing methods**: - **Berry - Keating regularization**: Restrict the trajectories by introducing cut - offs \( |q|\geq l_q \) and \( |p|\geq l_p \). - **Connes regularization**: Restrict the trajectories by introducing large cut - offs \( |q|\leq \Lambda \) and \( |p|\leq \Lambda \). - **New method**: The paper introduces the Generalized Born Oscillator \( H_{GBO} \), whose Hamiltonian is: \[ H_{GBO}=\left(1 + \lambda u p^{2}\right)^{1/2u}\left(1 + \lambda u q^{2}\right)^{1/2u}/\lambda \] This model has closed trajectories, and in the \( u \to \infty \) limit, its trajectories approach the Berry - Keating trajectories under Connes regularization. ### Main contributions - **Quantization**: Through the Weyl quantization technique, the high - order expansion of the state number \( N(E) \) of the Generalized Born Oscillator is obtained. - **Asymptotic behavior**: In the large - energy limit, the quantum spectrum of the Generalized Born Oscillator can reproduce the asymptotic expansion of the Riemann - Siegel \( \theta \) function, verifying the conjecture of Hilbert and Pólya. - **Regularization**: The Generalized Born Oscillator naturally realizes Connes' regularization method, providing a new perspective to understand the Berry - Keating theory. ### Conclusion By introducing the Generalized Born Oscillator, the paper successfully solves the regularization problem in the Berry - Keating theory, and verifies the connection between its quantum spectrum and the complex zeros of the Riemann zeta function through the Weyl quantization technique. This result not only provides a new tool for verifying the Riemann hypothesis, but also lays the foundation for further research in the cross - field of quantum mechanics and number theory.
