Abstract:In this work, we embark on the thermodynamic investigation concerning a family of primary charged black holes within the context of shift and parity symmetric Beyond Horndeski gravity. Employing the Euclidean approach, we derive the functional expression for the free energy and derive the first thermodynamic law, offering a methodology to address the challenge of extracting the thermal quantities in shift-symmetric scalar tensor theories characterized by linear time dependence in the scalar field. Following the formal analysis, we provide some illustrative examples focusing on the thermal evaporation of these fascinating objects.

Abstract:In this work, we discuss the generalized Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton gravity theory with a nonminimal coupling between the Maxwell field and scalar field. Considering different geometric properties of black hole horizon structure, the charged dilaton Lifshitz black hole solutions are presented in 4-dimensional spacetimes. Later, utilizing the Wald Formalism, we derive the thermodynamic first law of black hole and conserved quantities. According to the relationship between the heat capacity and the local stability of black hole, we study the stability of charged Lifshitz black holes and identify the thermodynamic stable region of black holes that meet the criteria.

Abstract:It has been known that in the presence of a scalar hair there would be a distinct additional contribution to the first law of black hole thermodynamics. While it has been checked in many examples, a deeper understanding of this issue is necessary. The thermodynamics of AdS black holes in Einstein-scalar gravity is studied by using the standard holographic renormalization procedure and the variation of the Hamiltonian via the Wald formalism. It is found that the first law requires a modification by including an additional term that has a particular form $\sim\left<O\right>\delta \phi_s$, with $\phi_s$ and $\left<O\right>$ a new pair of thermodynamic conjugate variables. $\phi_s$ is the leading source term of the asymptotic fall-off of the scalar field near the AdS boundary, and $\left<O\right>$ is precisely the response of the dual scalar operator from the holographic point of view. Some hairy black holes are constructed explicitly to check the first law of thermodynamics as well as the thermodynamic relations.

Abstract:We explore the use of the recently defined scalar charge which satisfies a Gauss law in stationary spacetimes, in the context of theories with a scalar potential. We find new conditions that this potential has to satisfy in order to allow for static, asymptotically-flat black-hole solutions with regular horizons and non-trivial scalar field. These conditions are equivalent to some of the known "no-hair" theorems (such as Bekenstein's). We study the extended thermodynamics of these systems, deriving a first law and a Smarr formula. As an example, we study the Anabalón-Oliva hairy black hole.

Abstract:Introducing a new form of scalar potential $V(\phi)$, we derive a proper form of the rotating black hole solution in three-dimensional Einstein gravity with nonminimally coupled scalar field and find that the first law of thermodynamics of this new rotating hairy black hole can be protected, where the scalar field parameter $B$ is constrained to relate to the black hole size. We also disclose the Hawking-Page phase transition between this rotating hairy black holes and the pure thermal radiation. Moreover, we study phase transitions between this rotating hairy black hole and rotating BTZ black hole. Considering the matchings for the temperature and angular momentum, we find that the rotating BTZ black hole always has smaller free energy which is a thermodynamically more preferred phase. Additionally, we evaluate the thermodynamics of the rotating black hole with minimally coupled scalar hair in three dimensions, which exhibits that the thermodynamical behaviors of this rotating hairy black hole are very similar to those of the rotating black hole with nonminimally coupled scalar hair.

Abstract:We present a variational formulation of Einstein–Maxwell-dilaton theory in flat spacetime, when the asymptotic value of the scalar field is not fixed. We obtain the boundary terms that make the variational principle well posed and then compute the finite gravitational action and corresponding Brown–York stress tensor. We show that the total energy has a new contribution that depends on the asymptotic value of the scalar field and discuss the role of scalar charges for the first law of thermodynamics. We also extend our analysis to hairy black holes in Anti-de Sitter spacetime and investigate the thermodynamics of an exact solution that breaks the conformal symmetry of the boundary.

Thermodynamic stability is the main subject of our investigation, which involves measuring the bound points, divergence points, black hole mass, thermal temperature, and specific heat capacity. In addition, we determine the scalar curvatures of thermodynamic geometries like Ruppeiner, Weinhold, Hendi-Panahiyah-Eslam-Momennia, and geometrothermodynamics formulations inside the framework of primary scalar hair black holes and delve into their complexities. Improving our knowledge of fundamental scalar hair black holes, this study sheds light on the intricate thermal geometric properties of these objects.

Abstract:Field equations of a classical, geometric, theory of gravity, augmented with some semiclassical considerations strongly suggest that the gravitational field representing a stationary black hole can be simply described with a few thermodynamical coordinates and their conjugates that obey the four laws of thermodynamics plus the Smarr formula and the reverse isoperimetric inequality that bounds the maximum entropy for a given effective volume of space. The thermodynamics of black holes is a promising window to the quantum nature of black holes; hence, it is important to understand all the details of these laws. The identification and the meaning of these thermodynamic coordinates depend on the gravity theory under consideration. For example, the existence of dimensionful coupling constants, such as the cosmological constant, changes the scaling properties of the theory, its solutions, and the laws of thermodynamics. Here we show, using the background Killing charge method, which applies to the black hole solutions of any gravity theory that has a maximally symmetric vacuum, to define the mass and angular momentum, instead of using the Komar mass and the angular momentum, how the thermodynamics of black holes such as the $D$ dimensional Kerr-AdS black holes in cosmological Einstein's theory and the spherically symmetric black holes in the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory changes. We give the effective volume of black holes even without a cosmological constant.

Analytic three-dimensional primary hair charged black holes with Coulomb-like electrodynamics and their thermodynamics

Abstract:We construct and discuss new solutions of primary hair charged black holes in asymptotically Anti-de Sitter (AdS) space that have well-defined Coulomb-like potential in three dimensions. The gauge field source to the Einstein equation is a power-Maxwell nonlinear electrodynamics with traceless energy-momentum tensor. The coupled Einstein-power-Maxwell-scalar gravity system, which carries the coupling $f(\phi)$ between the gauge and scalar fields, is analyzed, and hairy charged black hole solutions are found analytically. We consider three different profiles of the coupling functions: (i) $f(\phi)=1$, corresponding to no direct coupling between the gauge and scalar fields, (ii) $f(\phi)=e^{\phi}$, and (iii) $f(\phi)=e^{\phi^2/2}$, corresponding to their non-minimal coupling. For all these cases, the scalar field, gauge fields, and curvature scalars are regular and well-behaved everywhere outside the horizon. We further study the thermodynamics of the obtained hairy black hole in the canonical and grand-canonical ensembles and find significant changes in its thermodynamic structure due to the scalar field. In particular, for all considered coupling functions, the hairy parameter has a critical value above which the hairy black hole undergoes the Hawking/Page phase transition, whereas below which no such phase transition appears.

Abstract:We investigate the thermodynamics of a general class of exact 4-dimensional asymptotically Anti-de Sitter hairy black hole solutions and show that, for a fixed temperature, there are small and large hairy black holes similar to the Schwarzschild-AdS black hole. The large black holes have positive specific heat and so they can be in equilibrium with a thermal bath of radiation at the Hawking temperature. The relevant thermodynamic quantities are computed by using the Hamiltonian formalism and counterterm method. We explicitly show that there are first order phase transitions similar to the Hawking-Page phase transition.

Abstract:This work presents analytical black hole solutions for a coupled Einstein-Born-Infeld-Scalar gravity system in AdS spacetime with two different non-minimal coupling functions $f(z)$. For both solutions, we establish the regularity of the scalar field and curvature scalars outside the horizon. For one of the considered coupling cases, thermodynamic analysis in the canonical ensemble reveals stability across all temperatures, while the other case exhibits the Hawking/Page phase transition between the stable large phase of the black hole and thermal-AdS. We investigate the effect of the scalar hair parameter and black hole charge on the phase transition temperature and observe that the critical values of the scalar hair and the charge parameters constrain the feasibility of Hawking/Page phase transition.

Abstract:In this paper, we try to construct black hole thermodynamics based on the fact that, the formation and evaporation of a black hole can be described by quantum unitary evolutions. First, we show that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy S_BH may not be a Boltzmann or thermal entropy. To confirm this statement, we show that the original black hole's "first law" may not simply be treated as the first law of thermodynamics formally, due to some missing metric perturbations caused by matter. Then, by including those (quantum) metric perturbations, we show that the black hole formation and evaporation can be described in a unitary manner effectively, through a quantum channel between the exterior and interior of the event horizon. In this way, the paradoxes of information loss and firewall can be resolved effectively. Finally, we show that black hole thermodynamics can be constructed in an ordinary way, by constructing statistical mechanics.

Abstract:By using the Taylor series and the solution-generating methods, we construct exact black hole solutions with minimally coupled scalar fields. We find that the black hole solutions can have many hairs except for the physical mass. These hairs come from the scalar potential. Different from the mass, there is no symmetry corresponding to these hairs. Thus they are not conserved and one cannot understand them as Noether charges. They arise as coupling constants. Although there are many hairs, the black hole has only one horizon. The scalar potential becomes negative for sufficient large (or in the vicinity of black hole singularity). Therefore, the no-scalar-hair theorem does not apply to our solutions since the latter do not obey the dominant energy condition. Although the scalar potential becomes negative for sufficient large , the black holes are stable to both odd parity and scalar perturbations. As for even parity perturbations, we find there remains parameter space for the stability of the black holes. Finally, the black hole thermodynamics is developed.

Abstract:We study the extended thermodynamics of the hyperbolic black hole with scalar hair and obtain the extended holographic Rényi entropy of holographic conformal field theories with scalar hair. We analyze the behaviors of the extended holographic Rényi entropy in terms of holographic calculations. Moreover, we generalize the capacity of entanglement from the extended Rényi entropy and show that it maps to the heat capacity of the thermal conformal field theories on the hyperbolic space.

Abstract:Abstract Considering the nonminimal coupling of dilaton field to the massive graviton field inMaxwell-dilaton-Massive gravity, we obtain a class of analytical solutions of charged blackholes, which are neither asymptotically flat nor (A)dS. The calculated thermodynamic quan-tities, such as mass, temperature and entropy, verify the valid of first law of black hole ther-modynamics. Moreover, we further investigate the critical behaviors of these black holes ingrand canonical ensemble and canonical ensemble, respectively, and find that there is a newand novel critical phenomenon which is never found before, called ”reversed” reentrant phasetransition with a tricritical point. It implies that the system undergoes a novel ”SBH-LBH-SBH” phase transition process, and is the reverse of the ”LBH-SBH-LBH” process observedin reentrant phase transitions. Abstract:In this article, we have studied numerous thermodynamical aspects and the extended phase space of the AdS magnetically charged Euler-Heisenberg BH minimally coupled to a scalar field. We investigated the ADM mass, Hawking temperature, entropy, specific heat, Gibss free energy (both locally and globally) and P-V criticality at the horizon radius. Our result shows that the maximum value for the Hawking temperature of the magnetically charged Euler-Heisenberg BHis reached at the point where the specific heat and free energy diverge, which is also the point at which the second-order phase transition takes place. We found that the magnetically charged Euler-Heisenberg BHis thermodynamically stable, with a positive heat capacity and negative Gibbs free energy. We also examined the extended second-order phase space of the considered BHin both ensembles.
