Abstract:The original HOMFLY-PT polynomials can be fully determined by a very simple rule, the skein relation, while the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants (2 variables) of links are notoriously hard to compute. Inspired by the large N duality connecting Chern–Simons gauge theory and topological string theory, the Labastida–Mariño–Ooguri–Vafa (LMOV) conjecture for links (or framed links) predicts integrality, pole order structure and symmetric property for the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. By studying the LMOV conjecture for framed links, we uncover certain congruence skein relations for the (reformulated) colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. Although these congruence skein relations still can not fully determine the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants, they provide a strong pattern for the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants, which possibly could pave a way for people to understand the very mysterious nature of the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. We prove that these congruence skein relations hold in many different situations. Finally, we discuss the applications of the congruence skein relations in framed LMOV conjecture.

Abstract:We determine the 0-th Hochschild homology of the associative algebra of simplicial cochains valued in a PID: it consists of the ``finite-type" homotopy invariants of free loops, equivalently finite-type class functions on the fundamental group. One major motivation for this calculation is joint work in progress aiming to geometrically construct invariants of links in the 3-sphere as well as other $3$-manifolds, and to realize Milnor's linking numbers as evaluations of 0-th Hochschild homology classes.

Abstract:Kontsevich designed a scheme to generate infinitesimal symmetries $\dot{\mathcal{P}} = \mathcal{Q}(\mathcal{P})$ of Poisson brackets $\mathcal{P}$ on all affine manifolds $M^r$; every such deformation is encoded by oriented graphs on $n+2$ vertices and $2n$ edges. In particular, these symmetries can be obtained by orienting sums of non-oriented graphs $\gamma$ on $n$ vertices and $2n-2$ edges. The bi-vector flow $\dot{\mathcal{P}} = \text{Or}(\gamma)(\mathcal{P})$ preserves the space of Poisson structures if $\gamma$ is a cocycle with respect to the vertex-expanding differential in the graph complex. A class of such cocycles $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_{2\ell+1}$ is known to exist: marked by $\ell \in \mathbb{N}$, each of them contains a $(2\ell+1)$-gon wheel with a nonzero coefficient. At $\ell=1$ the tetrahedron $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_3$ itself is a cocycle; at $\ell=2$ the Kontsevich--Willwacher pentagon-wheel cocycle $\boldsymbol{\gamma}_5$ consists of two graphs. We reconstruct the symmetry $\mathcal{Q}_5(\mathcal{P}) = \text{Or}(\boldsymbol{\gamma}_5)(\mathcal{P})$ and verify that $\mathcal{Q}_5$ is a Poisson cocycle indeed: $[\![\mathcal{P},\mathcal{Q}_5(\mathcal{P})]\!]\doteq 0$ via $[\![\mathcal{P},\mathcal{P}]\!]=0$.

Abstract:We further study the symplectic Khovanov homology of Seidel and Smith and its generalization to even tangles. This homology theory is a conjectural geometric model for Khovanov homology. In this paper we uncover structures on symplectic Khovanov homology which have analogues in Khovanov homology. To each elementary (as well as minimal) cobordism between two tangles we associate a homomorphism between the symplectic Khovanov homology groups of the two tangles. We define the symplectic analogues $H_{s}^m$ of Khovanov's arc algebras and equip the symplectic Khovanov homology of an $(m,n)$-tangle with the structure of an $(H_{s}^m,H_{s}^n)$-bimodule. We show that $H_{s}^m$ and Khovanov's $H^m$ are isomorphic as associative algebras over $\Z/2$. We also obtain a skein exact triangle for symplectic Khovanov homology which resembles the one for Khovanov homology.

Combed Trisection Diagrams and Non-Semisimple 4-Manifold Invariants

Abstract:Given a triple $H$ of (possibly non-semisimple) Hopf algebras equipped with pairings satisfying a set of properties, we describe a construction of an associated smooth, scalar invariant $\tau_H(X,\pi)$ of a simply connected, compact, oriented $4$-manifold $X$ and an open book $\pi$ on its boundary. This invariant generalizes an earlier semisimple version and is calculated using a trisection diagram $T$ for $X$ and a certain type of combing of the trisection surface. We explain a general calculation of this invariant for a family of exotic 4-manifolds with boundary called Stein nuclei, introduced by Yasui. After investigating many low-dimensional Hopf algebras up to dimension 11, we have not been able to find non-semisimple Hopf triples that satisfy the criteria for our invariant. Nonetheless, appropriate Hopf triples may exist outside the scope of our explorations.

Abstract:We present a family of conjectural relations in the tautological cohomology of the moduli spaces of stable algebraic curves of genus $g$ with $n$ marked points. A large part of these relations has a surprisingly simple form: the tautological classes involved in the relations are given by stable graphs that are trees and that are decorated only by powers of the psi-classes at half-edges. We show that the proposed conjectural relations imply certain fundamental properties of the Dubrovin-Zhang (DZ) and the double ramification (DR) hierarchies associated to F-cohomological field theories. Our relations naturally extend a similar system of conjectural relations, which were proposed in an earlier work of the first author together with Guéré and Rossi and which are responsible for the normal Miura equivalence of the DZ and the DR hierarchy associated to an arbitrary cohomological field theory. Finally, we prove all the above mentioned relations in the case $n=1$ and arbitrary $g$ using a variation of the method from a paper by Liu and Pandharipande, this can be of independent interest. In particular, this proves the main conjecture from our previous joined work together with Hernández Iglesias. We also prove all the above mentioned relations in the case $g=0$ and arbitrary $n$.

Abstract:We study the homotopy theory of polyhedral products associated to a combinatorial generalisation of manifolds known as pseudomanifolds. As special cases, we show that loop spaces of moment-angle manifolds associated to triangulations of $S^2$ and $S^3$ decompose as a product of spheres and loops on spheres.

Abstract:Let $X$ be 2n-dimensional compact manifold with a locally standard action of a compact torus. The orbit space $X/T$ is a manifold with corners. Suppose that all proper faces of $X/T$ are acyclic. In the paper we study the homological spectral sequence $E^*_{*,*}\Rightarrow H_*(X)$ corresponding to the filtration of $X$ by orbit types. When the free part of the action is not twisted, we describe the whole spectral sequence in terms of homology and combinatorial structure of $X/T$. In this case we describe the kernel and the cokernel of the natural map $k[X/T]/(l.s.o.p.) \to H_*(X)$, where $k[X/T]$ is a face ring of $X/T$ and $(l.s.o.p.)$ is the ideal generated by a linear system of parameters (this ideal appears as the image of $H^{>0}(BT)$ in equivariant cohomology. There exists a natural double grading on $H_*(X)$, which satisfies bigraded Poincare duality. This general theory is applied to compute homology groups of origami toric manifolds with acyclic proper faces of the orbit space. A number of natural generalizations is considered. These include Buchsbaum simplicial complexes and posets. h'- and h''-numbers of simplicial posets appear as the ranks of certain terms in the spectral sequence $E^*_{*,*}$. In particular, using topological argument we show that Buchsbaum posets have nonnegative h''-vectors. The proofs of this paper rely on the theory of cellular sheaves. We associate to a torus space certain sheaves and cosheaves on the underlying simplicial poset, and observe an interesting duality between these objects. This duality seems to be a version of Poincare-Verdier duality between cellular sheaves and cosheaves.

Equivariant cohomology of a complexity-one four-manifold is determined by combinatorial data

Abstract:For Hamiltonian circle actions on compact, connected, four-dimensional manifolds, we give a generators and relations description for the even part of the equivariant cohomology, as an algebra over the equivariant cohomology of a point. This description depends on combinatorial data encoded in the decorated graph of the manifold. We then give an explicit combinatorial description of all weak algebra isomorphisms. We use this description to prove that the even parts of the equivariant cohomology algebras are weakly isomorphic and the odd groups have the same ranks if and only if the labeled graphs obtained from the decorated graphs by forgetting the height and area labels are isomorphic. As a consequence, we give an example of an isomorphism of equivariant cohomology algebras that cannot be induced by an equivariant diffeomorphism of manifolds preserving a compatible almost complex structure. We also provide a soft proof that there are finitely many maximal Hamiltonian circle actions on a fixed compact, connected, four-dimensional symplectic manifold.

Abstract: Let (A, B) be a complete hereditary cotorsion pair in ModR. Yang and Ding made a general study of B dimensions of complexes in [56]. In this paper, we define the notion of Gorenstein B dimensions for complexes by applying the model structure induced by (A, B), which can be used to describe how Gorenstein dimensions of complexes should work for any complete hereditary cotorsion pair. Characterizations of the finiteness of Gorenstein B dimensions for complexes are given. As a consequence, we study relative cohomology groups for complexes with finite Gorenstein B dimensions. Moreover, the relationships between Gorenstein B dimensions and B dimensions for complexes are given. Next we get two triangle-equivalences between the homotopy category of a hereditary abelian model structure, the singularity category of an exact category and the stable category of a Forbenius category. As applications, some necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of the Finitistic Dimension Conjecture are given.

Abstract:We introduce new finite-dimensional cohomologies on symplectic manifolds. Each exhibits Lefschetz decomposition and contains a unique harmonic representative within each class. Associated with each cohomology is a primitive cohomology defined purely on the space of primitive forms. We identify the dual currents of lagrangians and more generally coisotropic submanifolds with elements of a primitive cohomology, which dualizes to a homology on coisotropic chains.

Abstract:Hypertoric varieties are hyperkähler analogues of toric varieties, and are constructed as abelian hyperkähler quotients of a quaternionic affine space. Just as symplectic toric orbifolds are determined by labelled polytopes, orbifold hypertoric varieties are intimately related to the combinatorics of hyperplane arrangements. By developing hyperkähler analogues of symplectic techniques developed by Goldin, Holm, and Knutson, we give an explicit combinatorial description of the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of an orbifold hypertoric variety in terms of the combinatorial data of a rational cooriented weighted hyperplane arrangement. We detail several explicit examples, including some computations of orbifold Betti numbers (and Euler characteristics).

Koszul Duality for star-shaped partial Heegaard diagrams

Abstract:By slicing the Heegaard diagram for a given $3$-manifold in a particular way, it is possible to construct $\mathcal{A}_{\infty}$-bimodules, the tensor product of which retrieves the Heegaard Floer homology of the original 3-manifold. The first step in this is to construct algebras corresponding to the individual slices. In this paper, we use the graphical calculus for $\mathcal{A}_{\infty}$-structures introduced in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2009.05222v3" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2009.05222v3">arXiv:2009.05222v3</a> to construct Koszul dual $\mathcal{A}_{\infty}$ algebras $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ for a particular star-shaped class of slice. Using $\mathcal{A}_{\infty}$-bimodules over $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$, we then verify the Koszul duality relation.

Abstract:Several authors have studied homomorphisms from first homology groups of modular curves to , with either a cyclotomic ring or a modular curve. These maps send Manin symbols in the homology groups to Steinberg symbols of cyclotomic or Siegel units. We give a new construction of these maps and a direct proof of their Hecke equivariance, analogous to the construction of Siegel units using the universal elliptic curve. Our main tool is a -cocycle from to the second -group of the function field of a suitable group scheme over , from which the maps of interest arise by specialization.

Abstract:We study relations between cluster algebra invariants and link invariants. First, we show that several constructions of positroid links (permutation links, Richardson links, grid diagram links, plabic graph links) give rise to isotopic links. For a subclass of permutations arising from concave curves, we also provide isotopies with the corresponding Coxeter links. Second, we associate a point count polynomial to an arbitrary locally acyclic quiver. We conjecture an equality between the top $a$-degree coefficient of the HOMFLY polynomial of a plabic graph link and the point count polynomial of its planar dual quiver. We prove this conjecture for leaf recurrent plabic graphs, which includes reduced plabic graphs and plabic fences as special cases.

Abstract:For certain manifolds with an involution the mod 2 cohomology ring of the set of fixed points is isomorphic to the cohomology ring of the manifold, up to dividing the degrees by two. Examples include complex projective spaces and Grassmannians with the standard antiholomorphic involution (with real projective spaces and Grassmannians as fixed point sets). Hausmann, Holm and Puppe have put this observation in the framework of equivariant cohomology, and come up with the concept of "conjugation spaces", where the ring homomorphisms arise naturally from the existence of what they call "cohomology frames". Much earlier, Borel and Haefliger had studied the degree-halving isomorphism between the cohomology rings of complex and real projective spaces and Grassmannians using the theory of complex and real analytic cycles and cycle maps into cohomology. The main result in the present note gives a (purely topological) connection between these two results and provides a geometric intuition between the concept of a cohomology frame. In particular, we see that if every cohomology class on a manifold X with involution is the Thom class of an equivariant topological cycle of codimension twice the codimension of its fixed points (inside the fixed point set of X), these topological cycles will give rise to a cohomology frame.

Cyclotomic Structures in Symplectic Topology

Abstract:We extend the Cohen-Jones-Segal construction of stable homotopy types associated to flow categories of Morse-Smale functions $f$ to the setting where $f$ is equivariant under a finite group action and is Morse but no longer Morse-Smale. This setting occurs universally, as equivariant Morse functions can rarely be perturbed to nearby equivariant Morse-Smale functions. The method is very general, and allows one to do equivariant Floer theory while avoiding all the complications typically caused by issues of equivariant transversality. The construction assigns a (genuine) equivariant orthogonal spectrum to an equivariant framed virtually smooth flow category. Using this method, we construct, for a compact symplectic manifold $M$, which is symplectically atoroidal with contact boundary, and is equipped with an equivariant trivialization of its polarization class, a cyclotomic structure on the spectral lift of the symplectic cohomology $SH^*(M)$. This generalizes a variant of the map which sends loops to their $p$-fold covers on free loop spaces to the setting of general Liouville domains, and suggests a systematic connection between Floer homology and $p$-adic Hodge theory.

Cohomology rings of the moduli of one-dimensional sheaves on the projective plane

Abstract:We initiate a systematic study on the cohomology rings of the moduli stack $\mathfrak{M}_{d,\chi}$ of semistable one-dimensional sheaves on the projective plane. We introduce a set of tautological relations of geometric origin, including Mumford-type relations, and prove that their ideal is generated by certain primitive relations via the Virasoro operators. Using BPS integrality and the computational efficiency of Virasoro operators, we show that our geometric relations completely determine the cohomology rings of the moduli stacks up to degree 5. As an application, we verify the refined Gopakumar--Vafa/Pandharipande--Thomas correspondence for local $\mathbb{P}^2$ in degree 5. Furthermore, we propose a substantially strengthened version of the $P=C$ conjecture, originally introduced by Shen and two of the authors. This can be viewed as an analogue of the $P=W$ conjecture in a compact and Fano setting.

Multi-Dimensional Cohomological Phenomena in the Multiparametric Models of Random Simplicial Complexes

Abstract:In the past two decades, extensive research has been conducted on the (co)homology of various models of random simplicial complexes. So far, it has always been examined merely as a list of groups. This paper expands upon this by describing both the ring structure and the Steenrod-algebra structure of the cohomology of the multiparametric models. For the lower model, we prove that the ring structure is always a.a.s trivial, while, for certain parameters, the Steenrod-algebra a.a.s acts non-trivially. This reveals that complex multi-dimensional topological structures appear as subcomplexes of this model. In contrast, we improve upon a result of Farber and Nowik, and assert that the cohomology of the upper multiparametric model is a.a.s concentrated in a single dimension.
