Abstract:In this note, we prove a new uncertainty principle for functions with radial symmetry by differentiating a radial version of the Stein-Weiss inequality. The difficulty is to prove the differentiability in the limit of the best constant that, unlike the general case, it is not known.

Abstract:In this paper, we use Aleksandrov's reflection principle to prove symmetry of solutions to F(∇Sn2u+uI)=f(u,u2+|∇Snu|2), where u is the support function of a convex body, and F is a function of principal radii. As a corollary, alongside [Ivaki, arXiv:2307.06252], we provide an alternative proof of the uniqueness of solution to the isotropic Gaussian-Minkowski problem.
The Beurling and Malliavin Theorem in Several Dimensions

Abstract:The present paper is devoted to a new multidimensional generalization of the Beurling and Malliavin Theorem, which is a classical result in the Uncertainty Principle in Fourier Analysis. In more detail, we establish by an elegant but simple new method a sufficient condition for a radial function to be a Beurling and Malliavin majorant in several dimensions (this means that the function in question can be minorized by the modulus of a square integrable function which is not zero identically and which has the support of the Fourier transform included in an arbitrary small ball). As a corollary of the radial case, we also get a new sharp sufficient condition in the nonradial case. The latter result provides an answer to a question posed by L. Hörmander. Our proof is different in the cases of odd and even dimensions. In the even dimensional case we make use of one classical formula from the theory of Bessel functions due to N. Ya. Sonin.

Similar result holds for the domain $\mathbb{R}^n$ and function $u\in C^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ satisfying similar monotonicity and symmetry conditions. We also extend this result under weaker hypothesis on the function $u$.

Abstract:This paper gives a second way to solve the one-dimensional minimization problem of the form : for scalar-valued functions f on the half line, where and are its derivatives and and are positive parameters with This problem plays an essential part of the calculation of the best constant in Heisenberg's uncertainty principle inequality for solenoidal vector fields. The above problem was originally solved by using (generalized) Laguerre polynomial expansion; however, the calculation was complicated and long. In the present paper, we give a simpler method to obtain the same solution, the essential part of which was communicated in Theorem 5.1 of the preprint (Hamamoto, arXiv:2104.02351v4, 2021).

Abstract:In this paper, we first study the dual fractional parabolic equation \begin{equation*} \partial^\alpha_t u(x,t)+(-\Delta)^s u(x,t) = f(u(x,t))\ \ \mbox{in}\ \ B_1(0)\times\R , \end{equation*} subject to the vanishing exterior condition. We show that for each $t\in\R$, the positive bounded solution $u(\cdot,t)$ must be radially symmetric and strictly decreasing about the origin in the unit ball in $\R^n$. To overcome the challenges caused by the dual non-locality of the operator $\partial^\alpha_t+(-\Delta)^s$, some novel techniques were introduced. Then we establish the Liouville theorem for the homogeneous equation in the whole space \begin{equation*}\label{B} \partial^\alpha_t u(x,t)+(-\Delta)^s u(x,t) = 0\ \ \mbox{in}\ \ \R^n\times\R . \end{equation*} We first prove a maximum principle in unbounded domains for anti-symmetric functions to deduce that $u(x,t)$ must be constant with respect to $x.$ Then it suffices for us to establish the Liouville theorem for the Marchaud fractional equation \begin{equation*} \partial^\alpha_t u(t) = 0\ \ \mbox{in}\ \ \R . \end{equation*} To circumvent the difficulties arising from the nonlocal and one-sided nature of the operator $\partial_t^\alpha$, we bring in some new ideas and simpler approaches. Instead of disturbing the anti-symmetric function, we employ a perturbation technique directly on the solution $u(t)$ itself. This method provides a more concise and intuitive route to establish the Liouville theorem for one-sided operators $\partial_t^\alpha$, including even more general Marchaud time derivatives.

Abstract:In this paper, we first classify all radially symmetry solutions of the following weighted fourth-order equation \begin{equation*} \Delta(|x|^{-\gamma}\Delta u)=|x|^\gamma u^{\frac{N+4+3\gamma}{N-4-\gamma}},\quad u\geq 0 \quad \mbox{in}\quad \mathbb{R}^N, \end{equation*} where $N\geq 5$, $-2<\gamma<0$. Then we derive the sharp Stein-Weiss inequality and standard second-order Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg inequality with radially symmetry extremal functions. Moreover, by using standard spherical decomposition, we derive a sharp weighted Rellich-Sobolev inequality. Furthermore, we establish the sharp second-order Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities with two variables which have radially symmetry extremal functions. Finally, we derive the weak form Hardy-Rellich inequalities with sharp constants.

Improved stability versions of the Prékopa-Leindler inequality

Abstract:We consider the problem of stability for the Prékopa-Leindler inequality. Exploiting properties of the transport map between radially decreasing functions and a suitable functional version of the trace inequality, we obtain a uniform stability exponent for the Prékopa-Leindler inequality. Our result yields an exponent not only uniform in the dimension but also in the log-concavity parameter $\tau = \min(\lambda,1-\lambda)$ associated with its respective version of the Prékopa-Leindler inequality. As a further application of our methods, we prove a sharp stability result for log-concave functions in dimension 1, which also extends to a sharp stability result for log-concave radial functions in higher dimensions.

Here, we suppose $A : \R^N \times \R \times \R^N \to \R$ is a given ${C}^{1}$-Carathéodory function which grows as $|\xi|^p$ with $A_t(x,t,\xi) = \frac{\partial A}{\partial t}(x,t,\xi)$, $a(x,t,\xi) = \nabla_\xi A(x,t,\xi)$ and $g(x,t)$ is a given Carathéodory function on $\R^N \times \R$ which grows as $|\xi|^q$ with $1<q<p$. Suitable assumptions on $A(x,t,\xi)$ and $g(x,t)$ set off the variational structure of $(P)$ and its related functional $\J$ is $C^1$ on the Banach space $X = W^{1,p}(\R^N) \cap L^\infty(\R^N)$. In order to overcome the lack of compactness, we assume that the problem has radial symmetry, then we look for critical points of $\J$ restricted to $X_r$, subspace of the radial functions in $X$. Following an approach that exploits the interaction between the intersection norm in $X$ and the norm on $W^{1,p}(\R^N)$, we prove the existence of at least two weak bounded radial solutions of $(P)$, one positive and one negative, by applying a generalized version of the Minimum Principle.

On Uncertainty Principle for the Morse - Sard Theorem

Abstract:We prove a bridge theorem that includes the classical Morse--Sard Theorem on critical values and its previous elegant extensions obtained by Dubovitskii and Federer as particular cases. Intuitively, the sense of this bridge theorem is very close to the~uncertainty principle in theoretical physics: the more precise is the information we receive on measure of the image of the critical set, the less precisely the preimages are described, and vice versa. The result is new even for the classical C^k-case; similar results are established for the Holder and Sobolev classes of mappings with minimal integrability assumptions that guarantee in general only the continuity (not everywhere differentiability) of a~mapping. The proofs of the most results are based on our previous joint papers with J.~Bourgain and J.Kristensen (2013, 2015). We also crucially use very deep Y.~Yomdinu0027s entropy estimates of near critical values for polynomials (based on algebraic geometry tools). These results were useful for the solution of the so-called Lerayu0027s problem in mathematical fluid mechanics (see, e.g., Korobov et al., Ann. of Math., vol.181, (2015), no.2, 769-807 )
Radiall symmetry of minimizers to the weighted $p-$Dirichlet energy

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{A}=\{z: r< |z|<R\}$ and $\A^\ast=\{z: r^\ast<|z|<R^\ast\}$ be annuli in the complex plane. Let $p\in[1,2]$ and assume that $\mathcal{H}^{1,p}(\A,\A^*)$ is the class of Sobolev homeomorphisms between $\A$ and $\A^*$, $h:\A\onto \A^*$. Then we consider the following Dirichlet type energy of $h$: $$\mathcal{F}_p[h]=\int_{\A(1,r)}\frac{\|Dh\|^p}{|h|^p}, \ \ 1\le p\le 2.$$ We prove that this energy integral attains its minimum, and the minimum is a certain radial diffeomorphism $h:\A\onto \A^*$, provided a radial diffeomorphic minimizer exists. If $p>1$ then such diffeomorphism exist always. If $p=1$, then the conformal modulus of $\A^\ast$ must not be greater or equal to $\pi/2$. This curious phenomenon is opposite to the Nitsche type phenomenon known for the standard Dirichlet energy.

Abstract:We consider quasisymmetric reparametrizations of the parameter space of the quadratic family. We prove that the set of quadratic maps which are either regular or Collet-Eckmann with polynomial recurrence of the critical orbit has full Lebesgue measure. (The intent of this work is just to be a rigorous reference for the companion preprint Statistical properties of unimodal maps: smooth families with negative Schwarzian derivative. It is based on the LaTeX file of the paper Statistical properties of unimodal maps: the quadratic family. The proofs are very similar and in many places differ just by change of constants.)

Abstract:Introductory courses on quantum mechanics usually include lectures on uncertainty relations, typically the inequality derived by Robertson and, perhaps, other statements. For the benefit of the lecturers, we present a unified approach -- well suited for undergraduate teaching -- for deriving all standard uncertainty relations: those for products of variances by Kennard, Robertson, and Schrödinger, as well as those for sums of variances by Maccone and Pati. We also give a brief review of the early history of this topic and try to answer why the use of variances for quantifying uncertainty is so widespread, while alternatives are available that can be more natural and more fitting. It is common to regard the states that saturate the Robertson inequality as "minimum uncertainty states" although they do not minimize the variance of one observable, given the variance of another, incompatible observable. The states that achieve this objective are different and can be found systematically.
