Abstract:We demonstrate that the Cartan-Thullen theorem and its generalisation to the context of generalised convexity, which we establish herein, can be regarded as a consequence of the classical theorems of functional analysis. Furthermore, we characterise the domains of holomorphy, and their generalisations, as the spaces that are complete, or as the spaces exhaustible by suitably defined polytopes. We also provide an analogue of the Levi problem and its elementary solution. Our result allows for a novel characterisation of Stein spaces.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to place the Cartan - Thullen theorem and its generalization in the context of generalized convexity, and prove that these results can be regarded as direct corollaries of classical functional analysis theorems. Specifically, the paper shows how to use tools in functional analysis (such as the Banach - Alaoglu theorem and the Banach - Steinhaus uniform boundedness principle) to prove the Cartan - Thullen theorem, and reformulate the Levi problem in the framework of generalized convexity and give its elementary solution. ### Main contributions: 1. **Generalization of the Cartan - Thullen theorem**: - The paper shows the generalized form of the Cartan - Thullen theorem in the context of generalized convexity. Specifically, the paper proves that in the framework of generalized convexity, the Cartan - Thullen theorem can be regarded as a direct corollary of classical theorems in functional analysis. - By introducing the concept of generalized convexity, the paper provides a new method to understand the Cartan - Thullen theorem and extends its application scope to a wider class of functions. 2. **Reformulation and solution of the Levi problem**: - The paper reformulates the Levi problem in the context of generalized convexity and gives an elementary solution. The core of the Levi problem lies in determining whether an open set is a holomorphic convex set, that is, whether there exists a continuous, proper plurisubharmonic function. - By introducing the concept of generalized convexity, the paper provides a new perspective to understand and solve the Levi problem. 3. **New characterization of Stein spaces**: - The paper also provides a new method of characterizing Stein spaces. Stein spaces are an important class of complex analytic spaces with many good properties. The paper gives a new equivalent condition for Stein spaces through the concept of generalized convexity, which helps to better understand and study these spaces. ### Specific content: - **Definition of generalized convexity**: - The paper introduces the concept of generalized convexity, that is, convexity with respect to a function cone \( F \). For a topological space \( \Omega \), a closed set \( K\subset \Omega \) is called an \( F \)-convex set if it is equal to its closed \( F \)-convex hull: \[ \text{clConv}_F K=\{ \omega \in \Omega \mid f(\omega)\leq \sup f(K) \text{ for all } f\in F\} \] - **Main theorems**: - **Theorem 1.11**: On a \( \sigma \)-compact, locally compact Hausdorff topological space \( \Omega \), given a linear function space \( A \) that contains constants and separates points, the following conditions are equivalent: 1. For any compact set \( K\subset \Omega \) and any \( C\geq 1 \), the set \[ \{ \omega \in \Omega \mid a(\omega)\leq C\sup |a|(K) \text{ for all } a\in A\} \] is a compact subset of \( \Omega \). 2. There exists a non - negative and proper function \( p \) such that \[ p = \sup \{ a_\alpha \mid \alpha \in A\} \] where \( (a_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} \) is a symmetric function family in \( A \), and for any compact set \( K\subset \Omega \), there exists \( \{ \alpha_1,\ldots,\alpha_k\} \subset A \) such that \[
