Abstract:We prove that the generator of the $L^2$ implementation of a KMS-symmetric quantum Markov semigroup can be expressed as the square of a derivation with values in a Hilbert bimodule, extending earlier results by Cipriani and Sauvageot for tracially symmetric semigroups and the second-named author for GNS-symmetric semigroups. This result hinges on the introduction of a new completely positive map on the algebra of bounded operators on the GNS Hilbert space. This transformation maps symmetric Markov operators to symmetric Markov operators and is essential to obtain the required inner product on the Hilbert bimodule.

Abstract:We work out the exact relationship between algebraic modular forms for a two-by-two general unitary group over a definite quaternion algebra, and those arising from genera of positive-definite quinary lattices, relating stabilisers of local lattices with specific open compact subgroups, paramodular at split places, and with Atkin-Lehner operators. Combining this with the recent work of Rösner and Weissauer, proving conjectures of Ibukiyama on Jacquet-Langlands type correspondences (mildly generalised here), provides an effective tool for computing Hecke eigenvalues for Siegel modular forms of degree two and paramodular level. It also enables us to prove examples of congruences of Hecke eigenvalues connecting Siegel modular forms of degrees two and one. These include some of a type conjectured by Harder at level one, supported by computations of Fretwell at higher levels, and a subtly different congruence discovered experimentally by Buzzard and Golyshev.

Abstract:We introduce a construction of Dirichlet forms on von Neumann algebras M associated to any eigenvalue of the Araki modular Hamiltonian of a faithful normal non tracial state, providing also conditions by which the associated Markovian semigroups are GNS symmetric. The structure of these Dirichlet forms is described in terms of spatial derivations. Coercivity bounds are proved and the spectral growth is derived. We introduce a regularizing property of positivity preserving semigroups (superboundedness) stronger than hypercontractivity, in terms of the symmetric embedding of M into its standard space L2(M) and the associated noncommutative Lp(M) spaces. We prove superboundedness for a special class of positivity preserving semigroups and that some of them are dominated by the Markovian semigroups associated to the Dirichlet forms introduced above, for type I factors M. These tools are applied to a general construction of the quantum Ornstein-Uhlembeck semigroups of the Canonical Commutation Relations CCR and some of their non-perturbative deformations.

On modular representations of inner forms of $\mathrm{GL}_n$ over a local non-archimedean field

Abstract:Let $\mathrm{F}$ be a local non-archimedean field of residue characteristic $p$ and $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$ an algebraic closure of a finite field of characteristic $\ell \neq p$. We extend the results of Lapid and Mínguez concerning $\square$-irreducible representations of inner forms of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathrm{F})$ to representations over $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$. As applications, we compute the Godement-Jacquet $L$-factor for any smooth irreducible representation over $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$ and show that the local factors of a representation agree with the ones of its $\mathrm{C}$-parameter defined by Kurinczuk and Matringe. Moreover, we reprove that the classification of irreducible representations via multisegments due to Vignéras and Mínguez-Sécherre is indeed exhaustive without using the classification of Ariki and Mathas of simple modules of Hecke algebras. Finally, we characterize the irreducible constituents of certain parabolically induced representations, as was already done by Zelevinsky over $\mathbb{C}$.

Abstract:Given a densely defined skew-symmetric operators A 0 on a real or complex Hilbert space V , we parametrize all m-dissipative extensions in terms of contractions $\Phi$ : H-$\rightarrow$ H + , where Hand H + are Hilbert spaces associated with a boundary quadruple. Such an extension generates a unitary C 0-group if and only if $\Phi$ is a unitary operator. As corollary we obtain the parametrization of all selfadjoint extensions of a symmetric operator by unitary operators from Hto H +. Our results extend the theory of boundary triples initiated by von Neumann and developed by V. I. and M. L. Gorbachuk, J. Behrndt and M. Langer, S. A. Wegner and many others, in the sense that a boundary quadruple always exists (even if the defect indices are different in the symmetric case).

On two modular geometric realizations of an affine Hecke algebra

Abstract:In this paper we construct equivalences of monoidal categories relating three geometric or representation-theoretic categorical incarnations of the affine Hecke algebra of a connected reductive algebraic group $G$ over a field of positive characteristic: a category of Harish-Chandra bimodules for the Lie algebra of $G$; the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on (a completed version of) the Steinberg variety of the Frobenius twist $G^{(1)}$ of $G$; a derived category of constructible sheaves on the affine flag variety of reductive group which is Langlands dual to $G^{(1)}$. These constructions build on the localization theory developed by the first author with Mirković and Rumynin and previous work of ours (partly joint with L. Rider), and provide an analogue for positive-characteristic coefficients of a construction of the first author. As an application, we prove a conjecture by Finkelberg-Mirković giving a geometric realization of the principal block of algebraic representations of $G$.

Abstract:Our aim is to introduce and advocate non-$\Sigma$ (non-symmetric) modular operads. While ordinary modular operads were inspired by the structure of the moduli space of stable complex curves, non-$\Sigma$ modular operads model surfaces with open strings outputs. An immediate application of our theory is a short proof that the modular envelope of the associative operad is the linearization of the terminal operad in the category of non-$\Sigma$ modular operads. This gives a succinct description of this object that plays an important role in open string field theory. We also sketch further perspectives of the presented approach.

Abstract:We study algebras of meromorphic modular forms whose poles lie on Heegner divisors for orthogonal and unitary groups associated to root lattices. We give a uniform construction of $147$ hyperplane arrangements on type IV symmetric domains for which the algebras of modular forms with constrained poles are free and therefore the Looijenga compactifications of the arrangement complements are weighted projective spaces. We also construct $8$ free algebras of modular forms on complex balls with poles on hyperplane arrangements. The most striking example is the discriminant kernel of the $2U\oplus D_{11}$ lattice, which admits a free algebra on $14$ meromorphic generators. Along the way, we determine minimal systems of generators for non-free algebras of orthogonal modular forms for $26$ reducible root lattices and prove the modularity of formal Fourier--Jacobi series associated to them. By exploiting an identity between weight one singular additive and multiplicative lifts on $2U\oplus D_{11}$, we prove that the additive lift of any (possibly weak) theta block of positive weight and $q$-order one is a Borcherds product; the special case of holomorphic theta blocks of one elliptic variable is the theta block conjecture of Gritsenko, Poor and Yuen.

Formal multiple Eisenstein series and their derivations

Abstract:We introduce the algebra of formal multiple Eisenstein series and study its derivations. This algebra is motivated by the classical multiple Eisenstein series, introduced by Gangl-Kaneko-Zagier as a hybrid of classical Eisenstein series and multiple zeta values. In depth one, we obtain formal versions of the Eisenstein series satisfying the same algebraic relations as the classical Eisenstein series. In particular, they generate an algebra whose elements we call formal quasimodular forms. We show that the algebra of formal multiple Eisenstein series is an $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-algebra by formalizing the usual derivations for quasimodular forms and extending them naturally to the whole algebra. Additionally, we introduce some families of derivations for general quasi-shuffle algebras, providing a broader context for these derivations. Further, we prove that a quotient of this algebra is isomorphic to the algebra of formal multiple zeta values. This gives a novel and purely formal approach to classical (quasi)modular forms and builds a new link between (formal) multiple zeta values and modular forms.

Abstract:We define formal vector bundles with marked sections on Hilbert modular schemes and we show how to use them to construct modular sheaves with an integrable meromorphic connection and a filtration which, in degree 0, gives to us a $p$-adic interpolation of the usual Hodge filtration. We relate it with the sheaf of overconvergent Hilbert modular forms.

Abstract:We construct vector-valued modular forms on moduli spaces of curves and abelian varieties using effective divisors in projectivized Hodge bundles over moduli of curves. Cycle relations tell us the weight of these modular forms. In particular we construct basic modular forms for genus $2$ and $3$. We also discuss modular forms on the moduli of hyperelliptic curves. In that case the relative canonical bundle is a pull back of a line bundle on a ${\mathbb P}^1$-bundle over the moduli of hyperelliptic curves and we extend that line bundle to a compactification so that its push down is (close to) the Hodge bundle and use this to construct modular forms. In an appendix we use our method to calculate divisor classes in the dual projectivized $k$-Hodge bundle determined by Gheorghita-Tarasca and by Korotkin-Sauvaget-Zograf.

Formal Siegel modular forms for arithmetic subgroups

Abstract:The notion of formal Siegel modular forms for an arithmetic subgroup $\Gamma$ of the symplectic group of genus $n$ is a generalization of symmetric formal Fourier-Jacobi series. Assuming an upper bound on the affine covering number of the Siegel modular variety associated with $\Gamma$, we prove that all formal Siegel modular forms are given by Fourier-Jacobi expansions of classical holomorphic Siegel modular forms. We also show that the required upper bound is always met if $2\leq n \leq 4$. As an application we consider the case of the paramodular group of squarefree level and genus $2$.

Abstract:Let R=C[x1,x2,⋯,zn]/(f) where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Then R, and Der(R), the Lie algebra of derivations on R, are graded. It is well-known that Der(R) has no negatively graded component [10]. J. Wahl conjectured that the above fact is still true in higher codimensional case provided that R=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(f1,f2,⋯,fm) is an isolated, normal and complete intersection singularity and f1,f2,⋯,fm are weighted homogeneous polynomials with the same weight type (w1,w2,⋯,wn). On the other hand the first author Yau conjectured that the moduli algebra A(V)=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(∂f/∂x1,⋯,∂f/∂xn) has no negatively weighted derivations where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Assuming this conjecture has a positive answer, he gave a characterization of weighted homogeneous hypersurface singularities only using the Lie algebra Der(A(V)) of derivations on A(V). The conjecture of Yau can be thought as an Artinian analogue of J. Wahl's conjecture. For the low embedding dimension, the Yau conjecture has a positive answer. In this paper we prove this conjecture for any high-dimensional singularities under the condition that the lowest weight is bigger than or equal to half of the highest weight.

Abstract:A bstract We revisit the modular flavor symmetry from a more general perspective. The scalar modular forms of principal congruence subgroups are extended to the vector-valued modular forms, then we have more possible finite modular groups including Γ N and $$ {\Gamma}_N^{\prime } $$ Γ N ′ as the flavor symmetry. The theory of vector-valued modular forms provides a method of differential equation to construct the modular multiplets, and it also reveals the simple structure of the modular invariant mass models. We review the theory of vector-valued modular forms and give general results for the lower dimensional vector-valued modular forms. The general finite modular groups are listed up to order 72. We apply the formalism to construct two new lepton mass models based on the finite modular groups A 4 × Z 2 and GL(2, 3).

Abstract:We introduce a method in differential geometry to study the derivative operators of Siegel modular forms. By determining the coefficients of the invariant Levi-Civita connection on a Siegel upper half plane, and further by calculating the expressions of the differential forms under this connection, we get a non-holomorphic derivative operator of the Siegel modular forms. In order to get a holomorphic derivative operator, we introduce a weaker notion, called modular connection, on the Siegel upper half plane than a connection in differential geometry. Then we show that on a Siegel upper half plane there exists at most one holomorphic modular connection in some sense, and get a possible holomorphic derivative operator of Siegel modular forms.
Modularity for $\mathcal{W}$-algebras and affine Springer fibres

Abstract:We construct a bijection between admissible representations for an affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ at boundary admissible levels and $\mathbb{C}^\times$ fixed points in homogeneous elliptic affine Springer fibres for the Langlands dual affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}^\vee$. Using this bijection, we relate the modularity of the characters of admissible representations to Cherednik's Verlinde algebra construction coming from double affine Hecke algebras. Finally, we show that the expected behaviors of simple modules under quantized Drinfeld-Sokolov reductions are compatible with the reductions from affine Springer fibres to affine Spaltenstein varieties. This yields (modulo some conjectures) a similar bijection for irreducible representations of $\mathcal{W}$-algebras, as well as an interpretation for their modularity properties.

Abstract:Let $F/\mathbb{Q}$ be any totally real number field and $\frak{N}$ an ideal of its ring of integers of norm $N$ and define, for every even $n$, the $[F:\mathbb{Q}]$-dimensional multiweight $\textbf{n}=(n,...,n)$. We prove that for a non CM Hilbert cuspidal Hecke eigenform for $F$, say $f\in S_{\textbf{k}}(\Gamma_0(\frak{N}))$ with $k>2$ even, and a prime $p>\max\{k+1,6\}$ totally split in $F$ such that $p\nmid N$ and such that the residual mod $p$ representation $\overline{\rho}_f$ satisfies that $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)\subseteq \mathrm{Im}(\overline{\rho}_f)$, there exists a lift $\rho_g$ associated to a Hilbert modular cuspform for $F$, say $g\in S_{\textbf{2}}(\frak{N}p^2,\epsilon)$ for some Nebentypus character $\epsilon$ which is supercuspidal at each prime of $F$ over $p$. We also observe that our techniques provide an alternative proof to the corresponding statement for classical Hecke cuspforms already proved by Khare \cite{khare} with classical techniques. Finally, we take the opportunity to include a corrigenda for \cite{dieulefait} which follows from our main result, which provides a congruence that puts the micro good dihedral prime in the level.

Abstract:We show that certain modular induced representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2({\mathbb F}_q)$ can be written as cokernels of operators acting on symmetric power representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2({\mathbb F}_q)$. When the induction is from the Borel subgroup, respectively the anisotropic torus, the operators involve multiplication by newly defined twisted Dickson polynomials, respectively, twisted Serre operators. Our isomorphisms are explicitly defined using differential operators. As a corollary, we improve some periodicity results for quotients in the theta filtration.
