Abstract:We prove that the relative log de Rham cohomology groups of a projective semistable log smooth degeneration admit a natural \textit{limiting} mixed Hodge structure. More precisely, we construct a family of increasing filtrations and a family of nilpotent endomorphisms on the relative log de Rham cohomology groups and show that they satisfy a part of good properties of a nilpotnet orbit in several variables.

Abstract: We prove that the period map from the Torelli space of Calabi--Yau type manifolds to the period domain of polarized Hodge structures is injective. The proof is based on the construction of holomorphic affine structure on the Teichm\"uller space and the construction of the completion space of the Torelli space with respect to the Hodge metric.

Abstract:Abstract We show the smoothness over the affine line of the Hodge moduli space of logarithmic ‐connections of coprime rank and degree on a smooth projective curve with geometrically integral fibers over an arbitrary Noetherian base. When the base is a field, we also prove that the Hodge moduli space is geometrically integral. Along the way, we prove the same results for the corresponding moduli spaces of logarithmic Higgs bundles and of logarithmic connections. We use smoothness to derive specialization isomorphisms on the étale cohomology rings of these moduli spaces; this includes the special case when the base is of mixed characteristic. In the special case where the base is a separably closed field of positive characteristic, we show that these isomorphisms are filtered isomorphisms for the perverse filtrations associated with the corresponding Hitchin‐type morphisms.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of log R-maps, and develop a proper moduli stack of stable log R-maps in the case of a hybrid gauged linear sigma model. Two virtual cycles (canonical and reduced) are constructed for these moduli stacks. The main results are two comparison theorems relating the reduced virtual cycle to the cosection localized virtual cycle, as well as the reduced virtual cycle to the canonical virtual cycle. This sets the foundation of a new technique for computing higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants of complete intersections.
Semiclassical Hodge theory for log Poisson manifolds

Abstract:We construct a mixed Hodge structure on the topological K-theory of smooth Poisson varieties, depending weakly on a choice of compactification. We establish a package of tools for calculations with these structures, such as functoriality statements, projective bundle formulae, Gysin sequences and Torelli properties. We show that for varieties with trivial A-hat class, the corresponding period maps for families can be written as exponential maps for bundles of tori, which we call the "quantum parameters". As justification for the terminology, we show that in many interesting examples, the quantum parameters of a Poisson variety coincide with the parameters appearing in its known deformation quantizations. In particular, we give a detailed implementation of an argument of Kontsevich, to prove that his canonical quantization formula, when applied to Poisson tori, yields noncommutative tori with parameter "$q = e^\hbar$".

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometry of projective varieties polarised by ample and more generally nef and big Weil divisors. First we study birational boundedness of linear systems. We show that if $X$ is a projective variety of dimension $d$ with $\epsilon $ -lc singularities for $\epsilon >0$ , and if $N$ is a nef and big Weil divisor on $X$ such that $N-K_{X}$ is pseudo-effective, then the linear system $|mN|$ defines a birational map for some natural number $m$ depending only on $d,\epsilon $ . This is key to proving various other results. For example, it implies that if $N$ is a big Weil divisor (not necessarily nef) on a klt Calabi-Yau variety of dimension $d$ , then the linear system $|mN|$ defines a birational map for some natural number $m$ depending only on $d$ . It also gives new proofs of some known results, for example, if $X$ is an $\epsilon $ -lc Fano variety of dimension $d$ then taking $N=-K_{X}$ we recover birationality of $|-mK_{X}|$ for bounded $m$ . We prove similar birational boundedness results for nef and big Weil divisors $N$ on projective klt varieties $X$ when both $K_{X}$ and $N-K_{X}$ are pseudo-effective (here $X$ is not assumed $\epsilon $ -lc). Using the above, we show boundedness of polarised varieties under some natural conditions. We extend these to boundedness of semi-log canonical Calabi-Yau pairs polarised by effective ample Weil divisors not containing lc centres. We will briefly discuss applications to existence of projective coarse moduli spaces of such polarised Calabi-Yau pairs.

Abstract:The complex projective structures considered is this article are compact curves locally modeled on $\mathbb{CP}^1$. To such a geometric object, modulo marked isomorphism, the monodromy map associates an algebraic one: a representation of its fundamental group into $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{C})$, modulo conjugacy. This correspondence is neither surjective nor injective. Nonetheless, it is a local diffeomorphism [Hejhal, 1975]. We generalize this theorem to projective structures admitting poles (without apparent singularity and with fixed residues): the corresponding monodromy map (including Stokes data) is a local biholomorphism.

Newton Polyhedrons and Hodge Numbers of Non-degenerate Laurent Polynomials

Abstract:Claude Sabbah has defined the Fourier transform $G$ of the Gauss-Manin system for a non-degenerate and convenient Laurent polynomial and has shown that there exists a polarized mixed Hodge structure on the vanishing cycle of $G$. In this article, we consider certain non-degenerate and convenient Laurent polynomials $f_{P,\mathbf{a}}$, whose Newton polyhedron at infinity is a simplicial polytope $P$. First, we consider the stacky fan $\boldsymbol{\Sigma}_P$ given by $P$ and show that for each quotient stacky fan of $\boldsymbol{\Sigma}_P$, there is a natural polarized mixed Hodge structure on the ring of conewise polynomial functions on it. Then, we describe the polarized mixed Hodge structure on the vanishing cycle associated to $f_{P,\mathbf{a}}$ using these rings of conewise polynomial functions. In particular, we compute the Hodge diamond of the vanishing cycle. As a further consequence, we can solve the Birkhoff problem of such a Laurent polynomial by using elementary methods.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a Fano type variety and $(X,\Delta)$ be a log Calabi-Yau pair with $\Delta$ a Weil divisor. If $(X,\Delta)$ admits a polarized endomorphism, then we show that $(X,\Delta)$ is a finite quotient of a toric pair. Along the way, we prove that a klt Calabi-Yau pair $(X,\Delta)$ with standard coefficients that admits a polarized endomorphism is the quotient of an abelian variety.

Abstract:Let $(X,\Delta)$ be a dlt log Calabi-Yau pair admitting a polarized endomorphism. We show that $(X,\Delta)$ is a finite quotient of a toric log Calabi-Yau fibration over an abelian variety. We provide an example which shows that the previous statement does not hold if we drop the dlt condition of $(X,\Delta)$ even if $X$ is a smooth variety. Given a klt type variety $X$ and a log Calabi-Yau pair $(X,\Delta)$ admitting a polarized endomorphism, we show that a suitable birational modification of $(X,\Delta)$ is a finite quotient of a toric log Calabi-Yau fibration over an abelian variety.

On Hodge structures of compact complex manifolds with semistable degenerations

Abstract:Compact Kähler manifolds satisfy several nice Hodge-theoretic properties such as the Hodge symmetry, the Hard Lefschetz property and the Hodge-Riemann bilinear relations, etc. In this note, we investigate when such nice properties hold on compact complex manifolds with semistable degenerations. For compact complex manifolds which can be obtained as smoothings of SNC varieties without triple intersection locus, we show the Hodge symmetry when the monodromy logarithm induces isomorphisms on the associated graded. We also show the Hodge-Riemann relations on H^3 of compact complex 3-folds with such semistable degenerations under some conditions.

Abstract:We prove that the cyclic homology of a saturated $A_\infty$ category admits the structure of a `polarized variation of Hodge structures', building heavily on the work of many authors: the main point of the paper is to present complete proofs, and also explicit formulae for all of the relevant structures. This forms part of a project of Ganatra, Perutz and the author, to prove that homological mirror symmetry implies enumerative mirror symmetry.

Moduli stacks of Higgs bundles on stable curves

Abstract:In this article, we construct a flat degeneration of the derived moduli stack of Higgs bundles on smooth curves using the stack of expanded degenerations of Jun Li. We show that there is an intrinsic relative log-symplectic form on the degeneration and we compare it with the one constructed by the second author. We show that the Hitchin map of the degeneration we construct has complete fibers. Furthermore, we show that the Hitchin map is flat and that a suitable open subset of the smooth locus of the reduced nilpotent cone is Lagrangian. We also extend the construction of the moduli of Higgs bundles along with the relative log-symplectic form over the universal moduli stack of stable curves.

Abstract:We develop the foundations of logarithmic structures beyond the standard finiteness conditions. The motivation is the study of semistable models over general valuation rings. The key new notion is that of a morphism of finite presentation up to saturation (sfp), which is one that is qcqs and which is locally isomorphic to the saturated base change of a finitely presented morphism between fs log schemes. As in the case of schemes, sfp maps can (locally on the base) be approximated by maps between fs log schemes of finite type over $\mathbb{Z}$. Based on sfp maps, we define smooth, étale, and Kummer étale maps. Importantly, the maps of schemes underlying such maps are no longer of finite type in general, though surprisingly they are if the base is the spectrum of a valuation ring with algebraically closed field of fractions. These foundations allow us to extend beyond the fs case the theory of the Kummer étale site and of the Kummer étale fundamental group.

Abstract:We show that a Hodge class of a complex smooth projective hypersurface is an analytic logarithmic De Rham class. On the other hand we show that for a complex smooth projective variety an analytic logarithmic De Rham class of of type $(d,d)$ is the class of codimension $d$ algebraic cycle. We deduce the Hodge conjecture for smooth projective hypersurfaces.

A log-motivic cohomology for semistable varieties and its $p$-adic deformation theory

Abstract:We construct log-motivic cohomology groups for semistable varieties and study the $p$-adic deformation theory of log-motivic cohomology classes. Our main result is the deformational part of a $p$-adic variational Hodge conjecture for varieties with semistable reduction: a rational log-motivic cohomology class in bidegree $(2n,n)$ lifts to a continuous pro-class if and only if its Hyodo-Kato class lies in the $n$-th step of the Hodge filtration. This generalises a theorem of Bloch-Esnault-Kerz which treats the good reduction case. In the case $n=1$ the lifting criterion is the one obtained by Yamashita for the logarithmic Picard group. Along the way, we relate log-motivic cohomology to logarithmic Milnor $K$-theory and the logarithmic Hyodo-Kato Hodge-Witt sheaves.

K-stability and Polystable Degenerations of Polarized Spherical Varieties

Abstract:In this paper, we study the K-stability of polarized spherical varieties. After reduction, it can be treated as a variational problem of the reduced functional of the Futaki invariant on the associated moment polytope. With the convexity constraint of the problem, the minimizers are shown to satisfy the homogeneous Monge-Ampère equation (HMA). When the spherical variety has rank two, a simpler characterization can be established through properties of the HMA. As an application, we determine the strict semistability and polystable degenerations for Fano spherical varieties of rank two.

Abstract:We define and construct the real analytic moduli stack of pluriharmonic bundles on a compact Kaehler manifold X, and show how this is equipped with Hodge and quaternionic structures. This stack maps to the de Rham moduli stack, giving rise to preferred sections of the Deligne-Hitchin twistor stack. We then show how the non-abelian mixed Hodge structures on Malcev homotopy types X can be extended to objects over the pluriharmonic moduli stack.
