Abstract:We first describe how the Kashiwara involution on crystals of affine type $A$ is encoded by the combinatorics of aperiodic multisegments. This yields a simple relation between this involution and the Zelevinsky involution on the set of simple modules for the affine Hecke algebras. We then give efficient procedures for computing these involutions. Remarkably, these procedures do not use the underlying crystal structure. They also permit to match explicitly the Ginzburg and Ariki parametrizations of the simple modules associated to affine and cyclotomic Hecke algebras, respectively .

On $C_n^{(1)}$-Geometric Crystal and its Ultradiscretization

Abstract:Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be an affine Lie algebra with index set $I = \{0, 1, 2, \cdots , n\}$ and $\mathfrak{g}^L$ be its Langlands dual. It is conjectured that for each Dynkin node $i \in I \setminus \{0\}$ the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ has a positive geometric crystal whose ultra-discretization is isomorphic to the limit of a certain coherent family of perfect crystals for the Langland dual $\mathfrak{g}^L$. In this paper we construct positive geometric crystals for $\mathcal{V}(C_n^{(1)})$ in the level zero fundamental spin $C_n^{(1)}$- module $W(\varpi_n)$ for $n = 2, 3,4$ and show that its ultra-discretization is isomorphic to the limit $B^{n, \infty}$ of a coherent family $\{B^{n, l}\}_{l \geq 1}$ of perfect crystals for the Langland dual $D_n^{(2)}$ which proves the conjecture in these cases.

Abstract:The vertices of any (combinatorial) Kashiwara crystal graph carry a natural monoid structure given by identifying words labelling vertices that appear in the same position of isomorphic components of the crystal. Working on a purely combinatorial and monoid-theoretical level, we prove some foundational results for these crystal monoids, including the observation that they have decidable word problem when their weight monoid is a finite rank free abelian group. The problem of constructing finite complete rewriting systems, and biautomatic structures, for crystal monoids is then investigated. In the case of Kashiwara crystals of types $A_n$, $B_n$, $C_n$, $D_n$, and $G_2$ (corresponding to the $q$-analogues of the Lie algebras of these types) these monoids are precisely the generalised plactic monoids investigated in work of Lecouvey. We construct presentations via finite complete rewriting systems for all of these types using a unified proof strategy that depends on Kashiwara's crystal bases and analogies of Young tableaux, and on Lecouvey's presentations for these monoids. As corollaries, we deduce that plactic monoids of these types have finite derivation type and satisfy the homological finiteness properties left and right $\mathrm{FP}_\infty$. These rewriting systems are then applied to show that plactic monoids of these types are biautomatic and thus have word problem soluble in quadratic time.

Abstract:For $p \geq 3$ and an unramified extension $F/\mathbb{Q}_p$ with perfect residue field, we define a syntomic complex with coefficients in a Wach module over a certain period ring for $F$. We show that our complex computes the crystalline part of the Galois cohomology (in the sense of Bloch and Kato) of the associated crystalline representation of the absolute Galois group of $F$. Furthermore, we establish that Wach modules of Berger naturally descend over to a smaller period ring studied by Fontaine and Wach. This enables us to define another syntomic complex with coefficients and we show that its cohomology also computes the crystalline part of the Galois cohomology of the associated representation.

Abstract:This paper is a continuation of our Dwork crystals series. Here we exploit the Cartier operation to prove supercongruences for expansion coefficients of rational functions. In the process it appears that excellent Frobenius lifts are a driving force behind supercongruences. Originally introduced by Dwork, these excellent lifts have occurred rather infrequently in the literature, and only in the context of families of elliptic curves and abelian varieties. In the final sections of this paper we present a list of examples that occur in the case of families of Calabi-Yau varieties.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce geometric crystals and unipotent crystals which are algebro-geometric analogues of Kashiwara's crystal bases. Given a reductive group G, let I be the set of vertices of the Dynkin diagram of G and T be the maximal torus of G. The structure of a geometric G-crystal on an algebraic variety X consists of a rational morphism \gamma:X-->T and a compatible family e_i:G_m\times X-->X, i\in I of rational actions of the multiplicative group G_m satisfying certain braid-like relations. Such a structure induces a rational action of W on X. Quite surprisingly, many interesting rational actions of the group W come from geometric crystals. Also all the known examples of the action of W which appear in the construction of gamma-functions for the representations of ^LG in the recent work by A. Braverman and D. Kazhdan come from geometric crystals. There are many examples of positive geometric crystals on (G_m)^l, i.e., those geometric crystals for which the actions e_i and the morphism \gamma are given by positive rational expressions. To each positive geometric crystal X we associate a Kashiwara's crystal corresponding to the Langlands dual group ^LG. An emergence of ^LG in the "crystal world" was observed earlier by G. Lusztig. Another application of geometric crystals is a construction of trivialization which is an W-equivariant isomorhism X-->\gamma^{-1}(e) \times T for any geometric SL_n-crystal. Unipotent crystals are geometric analogues of normal Kashiwara crystals. They form a strict monoidal category. To any unipotent crystal built on a variety X we associate a certain gometric crystal.

Abstract:Fix a simply-laced semisimple Lie algebra. We study the crystal $ B(n\lambda)$, were $\lambda$ is a dominant minuscule weight and $n$ is a natural number. On one hand, $B(n\lambda)$ can be realized combinatorially by height $n$ reverse plane partitions on a heap associated to $\lambda$. On the other hand, we use this heap to define a module over the preprojective algebra of the underlying Dynkin quiver. Using the work of Saito and Savage-Tingley, we realize $B(n\lambda)$ via irreducible components of the quiver Grassmannian of $n$ copies of this module. In this paper, we describe an explicit bijection between these two models for $B(n\lambda)$ and prove that our bijection yields an isomorphism of crystals. Our main geometric tool is Nakajima's tensor product quiver varieties.

Abstract:The tensor powers of the vector representation associated to an infinite rank quantum group decompose into irreducible components with multiplicities independant of the infinite root system considered. Although the irreducible modules obtained in this way are not of highest weight, they admit a crystal basis and a canonical basis. This permits in particular to obtain for each familly of classical Lie algebras a Robinson-Schensted correspondence on biwords defined on infinite alphabets. We then depict a structure of bi-crystal on these bi-words. This RS-correspondence yields also a plactic algebra and plactic Schur functions distinct for each infinite root system. Surprisingly, the algebras spanned by these plactic Schur functions are all isomorphic to the algebra of symmetric functions.

Abstract:We study relative Wach modules generalising our previous works on this subject. Our main result shows a categorical equivalence between relative integral Wach modules and lattices inside relative crystalline representations. Using this result, we deduce a purity statement for relative crystalline representations and provide a criteria for checking crystallinity of relative $p$-adic representations. Furthermore, we interpret relative Wach modules as modules with $q$-connections. Moreover, for a crystalline representation, we show that its associated Wach module (together with the Nygaard filtration) is the canonical $q$-deformation of the filtered $(\varphi,\partial)$-module associated to the representation.

Crystals for set-valued decomposition tableaux

Abstract:We describe two crystal structures on set-valued decomposition tableaux. These provide the first examples of interesting "$K$-theoretic" crystals on shifted tableaux. Our first crystal is modeled on a similar construction of Monical, Pechenik, and Scrimshaw for semistandard (unshifted) set-valued tableaux. Our second crystal is adapted from the "square root" operators introduced by Yu on the same set. Neither of our shifted crystals is normal, but we conjecture that our second construction is connected with a unique highest weight element. These results lead to partial progress on a conjectural formula of Cho--Ikeda for $K$-theoretic Schur $P$-functions. We also study a new category of "square root crystals" that includes our second construction and Yu's set-valued tableau crystals as examples. We observe that Buch's formula for the coefficients expanding products of symmetric Grothendieck functions has a simple description in terms of the tensor product for this category.

Abstract:Let $Y/S$ be a $p$-completely smooth morphism of $p$-torsion free $p$-adic formal schemes endowed with a Frobenius lift, and let $\overline Y/\overline S$ denote its reduction modulo $p$. We show that the category of crystals on the prismatic site of $\overline Y/S$ is equivalent to the category of $O_Y$-modules with integrable and quasi-nilpotent $p$-connection, and that the cohomology of such a crystal is computed by the associated $p$-de Rham complex. More generally, if $X$ is a closed subscheme of $\overline Y$, smooth over $\overline S$, then the prismatic envelope $\Delta_X(Y)$ of $X$ in $Y$ admits such a $p$-connection, the category of prismatic crystals on $X/S$ is equivalent to the category of $O_ {\Delta_X(Y)}$-modules with compatible integrable and quasi-nilpotent $p$-connection, and the cohomology of such a crystal is again computed by its $p$-de Rham complex. We also give a geometric construction of the ``prismatic Sen operator.'' Namely, we show that a lifting of $X$ (mod $p^2$) in $Y$ defines a vector field on the reduction modulo $p$ of $\Delta_X(Y)$ and on a ``diffracted'' Higgs complex which calculates the mod $p$ prismatic and de Rham cohomologies of $X$. Surprisingly, this complex is not the reduction modulo $p$ of the afore-mentioned $p$-de Rham complexbut is rather its ``$\alpha$-transform.'' As a consequence, we get a fairly explicit description of the action of the group scheme $G^\gamma$ on $R\Gamma(X, \Omega^\bullet_{X/S})$, Drinfeld's strengthening of the Deligne-Illusie decomposition theorem. We also explain how earlier work by several authors relating Higgs fields, $p$-connections, and connections can be placed in the prismatic context.

Abstract:A 2-torsion topological phase exists for Hamiltonians symmetric under the wallpaper group with glide reflection symmetry, corresponding to the unorientable cycle of the Klein bottle fundamental domain. We prove a mod 2 twisted Toeplitz index theorem, which implies a bulk-edge correspondence between this bulk phase and the exotic topological zero modes that it acquires along a boundary glide axis.

Abstract:We show for all local fields $K/\mathbb{Q}_p$, with $p >3$, all representations $\bar\rho:G_K \to G_2(\bar{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ admit a crystalline lift $\rho: G_K\to G_2(\bar{\mathbb{Z}}_p)$, where $G_2$ is the exceptional Chevalley group of type $G_2$. The main ingredient is a new technique for analyzing the obstruction of non-abelian extensions of Galois modules, which has roots in combinatorial group theory. We also rely on the Emerton-Gee stack of $(\phi, \Gamma)$-modules to construct abelian extensions.

Abstract:Let be a smooth -adic formal scheme. We show that integral crystalline local systems on the generic fiber of are equivalent to prismatic -crystals over the analytic locus of the prismatic site of . As an application, we give a prismatic proof of Fontaine's -conjecture, for general coefficients, in the relative setting, and allowing ramified base fields. Along the way, we also establish various foundational results for the cohomology of prismatic -crystals, including various comparison theorems, Poincaré duality, and Frobenius isogeny.

Generalisations of Capparelli's and Primc's identities, I: coloured Frobenius partitions and combinatorial proofs

Abstract:In these two companion papers, we give infinite families of partition identities which generalise Primc's and Capparelli's identities, and study their consequences on the theory of crystal bases of the affine Lie algebra $A_{n-1}^{(1)}.$ In this first paper, we focus on combinatorial aspects. We give a $n^2$-coloured generalisation of Primc's identity by constructing a $n^2 \times n^2$ matrix of difference conditions, Primc's original identities corresponding to $n=2$ and $n=3$. While most coloured partition identities in the literature connect partitions with difference conditions to partitions with congruence conditions, in our case, the natural way to generalise these identities is to relate partitions with difference conditions to coloured Frobenius partitions. This gives a very simple expression for the generating function. With a particular specialisation of the colour variables, our generalisation also yields a partition identity with congruence conditions. Then, using a bijection from our new generalisation of Primc's identity, we deduce a multi-parameter family of identities on $(n^2-1)$-coloured partitions which generalise Capparelli's identity, also in terms of coloured Frobenius partitions. The particular case $n=2$ is Capparelli's identity and the case $n=3$ recovers an identity of Meurman and Primc. In the second paper, we will focus on crystal theoretic aspects. We will show that the difference conditions we defined in our $n^2$-coloured generalisation of Primc's identity are actually energy functions for certain $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ crystals. We will then use this result to retrieve the Kac-Peterson character formula and derive a new character formula as a sum of infinite products for all the irreducible highest weight $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$-modules of level $1$.

Abstract:We attach a $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ crystal, called cocrystal, to a symplectic Kashiwara-Nakashima (KN) tableau, whose vertices are skew KN tableaux connected via the Lecouvey-Sheats symplectic \emph{jeu de taquin}. These cocrystals contain all the needed information to compute right and left keys of a symplectic KN tableau. Motivated by Willis' direct way of computing type $A$ right and left keys, we also give a way of computing symplectic, right and left, keys without the use of the symplectic \emph{jeu de taquin}. On the other hand, we prove that Baker virtualization by folding $A_{2n-1}$ into $C_n$ commutes with dilatation of crystals. Thus we may alternatively utilize this Baker virtualization to embed a type $C_n$ Demazure crystal, its opposite and atoms into $A_{2n-1}$ ones. The right, respectively left keys of a KN tableau are thereby computed as $A_{2n-1}$ semistandard tableaux and returned back via reverse Baker embedding to the $C_n$ crystal as its right respectively left symplectic keys. In particular, Baker embedding also virtualizes the crystal of Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths as $B_n$-paths into the crystal of Lakshmibai-Seshadri paths as $\mathfrak{S}_{2n}$-paths. Lastly, as an application of our explicit symplectic right and left key maps, thanks to the isomorphism between Lakshmibai-Seshadri path and Kashiwara crystals we use, similarly to the ${{Gl}(n,\mathbb{C})}$ case, left and right key maps as a tool to test whether a symplectic KN tableau is \emph{standard} on a Schubert or Richardson variety in the flag variety $Sp(2n,\mathbb{C})/B$, with $B$ a Borel subgroup.

Abstract:The present work revisits the classical Wulff problem restricted to crystalline integrands, a class of surface energies that gives rise to finitely faceted crystals. The general proof of the Wulff theorem was given by J.E. Taylor (1978) by methods of Geometric Measure Theory. This work follows a simpler and direct way through Minkowski Theory by taking advantage of the convex properties of the considered Wulff shapes.
