Abstract:In this paper, we give a complete coarse classification of strongly exceptional Legendrian realizations of connected sum of two Hopf links in contact 3-spheres. This is the first classification result about exceptional Legendrian representatives for connected sums of link families.

Abstract:We introduce and study strongly invertible Legendrian links in the standard contact three-dimensional space. We establish the equivariant analogs of basic results separately well-known for strongly invertible and Legendrian links, i.e. the existence of transvergent front diagrams, an equivariant Legendrian Reidemeister theorem, and an equivariant stabilization theorem à la Fuch-Tabachnikov. We also introduce a maximal equivariant Thurston-Bennequin number for strongly invertible links and we exhibit infinitely many such links for which the invariant coincides with the usual maximal Thurston-Bennequin number. We conjecture that such a coincidence does not hold general and that there exist strongly invertible knots having Legendrian representatives isotopic to their reversed Legendrian mirrors but not isotopic to any strongly invertible Legendrian knot.

Abstract:We study Legendrian singular links up to contact isotopy. Using a special property of the singular points, we define the singular connected sum of Legendrian singular links. This concept is a generalization of the connected sum and can be interpreted as a tangle replacement, which provides a way to classify Legendrian singular links. Moreover, we investigate several phenomena only occur in the Legendrian setup.

Abstract:The original HOMFLY-PT polynomials can be fully determined by a very simple rule, the skein relation, while the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants (2 variables) of links are notoriously hard to compute. Inspired by the large N duality connecting Chern–Simons gauge theory and topological string theory, the Labastida–Mariño–Ooguri–Vafa (LMOV) conjecture for links (or framed links) predicts integrality, pole order structure and symmetric property for the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. By studying the LMOV conjecture for framed links, we uncover certain congruence skein relations for the (reformulated) colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. Although these congruence skein relations still can not fully determine the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants, they provide a strong pattern for the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants, which possibly could pave a way for people to understand the very mysterious nature of the colored HOMFLY-PT invariants. We prove that these congruence skein relations hold in many different situations. Finally, we discuss the applications of the congruence skein relations in framed LMOV conjecture.
Legendrian invariants and half Giroux torsion

Abstract:We collect some observations about Legendrian links with non-vanishing contact invariants, mostly concerning the non-loose realizations of links and the addition of boundary-parallel half Giroux torsion. In particular, we show that every null-homologous link with irreducible complement admits a non-loose Legendrian realization with non-zero (at least) invariant $\text{EH}$ in $\text{SFH}$, in some overtwisted contact structure (determined by its gradings); for many links these come from Gabai's work, for others the existence follows from the sutured interpretation of link Floer invariants. We reveal that separating half Giroux torsion does not necessary cause Legendrian invariants to vanish. Furthermore, we propose a conjectural characterization of links with non-vanishing $\widehat{\mathfrak L}$ in $\widehat{\text{HFL}}$ among links with non-zero $\mathfrak L$ in $c\text{HFL}^-$.

On Legendrian representatives of non-fibered knots

Abstract:We show that in $(S^3,\xi_{std})$ if $K$ is a non-trivial knot that realizes the three-dimensional Thurston-Bennequin bound (i.e. $K$ has a Legendrian representative $\Lambda$ with $tb(\Lambda)-rot(\Lambda)=2g(K)-1$), then $K$ has a Legendrian representative $L$ with $tb=0$. Moreover, this result can be easily generalized to contact manifolds that uniquely represent the associated contact invariants. This is the first result on Legendrian representatives of non-fibered knots in $3-$manifolds other than $S^3$. We also show that if $K$ is a nearly fibered knot in $S^3$ then $\tau(K)=g(K)$ implies that $K$ realizes the three-dimensional Thurston-Bennequin bound.

Totally tangential $\mathbb{C}$-links and electromagnetic knots

Abstract:The set of real-analytic Legendrian links with respect to the standard contact structure on the 3-sphere $S^3$ corresponds both to the set of totally tangential $\mathbb{C}$-links as defined by Rudolph and to the set of stable knotted field lines in Bateman electromagnetic fields of Hopf type. It is known that every isotopy class has a real-analytic Legendrian representative, so that every link type $L$ admits a holomorphic function $G:\mathbb{C}^2\to\mathbb{C}$ whose zeros intersect $S^3$ tangentially in $L$ and there is a Bateman electromagnetic field $\mathbf{F}$ with closed field lines in the shape of $L$. However, so far the family of torus links are the only examples where explicit expressions of $G$ and $\mathbf{F}$ have been found. In this paper, we present an algorithm that finds for every given link type $L$ a real-analytic Legendrian representative, parametrised in terms of trigonometric polynomials. We then prove that (good candidates for) examples of $G$ and $\mathbf{F}$ can be obtained by solving a system of linear equations, which is homogeneous in the case of $G$ and inhomogeneous in the case of $\mathbf{F}$. We also use the real-analytic Legendrian parametrisations to study the dynamics of knots in Bateman electromagnetic fields of Hopf type. In particular, we show that no compact subset of $\mathbb{R}^3$ can contain an electromagnetic knot indefinitely.

Abstract:This article introduces two new constructions at the higher homotopy level in the space of Legendrian embeddings in $(\mathbb{R}^3, \xi_{\operatorname{std}})$. We first introduce the parametric Legendrian satellite construction, showing that the satellite operation works for parametric families of Legendrian embeddings. This yields new invariants at the higher-order homotopy level. We then introduce the parametric connected-sum construction. This operation takes as inputs two $n$-spheres based at Legendrian embeddings $K_1$ and $K_2$, respectively, and produces a new $n$-sphere based at $K_1\# K_2$. As a main application we construct new infinite families of loops of Legendrian embeddings with non-trivial LCH monodromy invariant.

Abstract:We exploit a natural correspondence between holomorphic $(2,3,5)$-distributions and nondegenerate lines on holomorphic contact manifolds of dimension $5$ to present a new perspective in the study of symmetries of $(2,3,5)$-distributions. This leads to a number of new results in this classical subject, including an unexpected relation between the multiply-transitive families of models having $7$- and $6$-dimensional symmetries, and a one-to-one correspondence between equivalence classes of nontransitive $(2,3,5)$-distributions with $6$-dimensional symmetries and nonhomogeneous nondegenerate Legendrian curves in $\mathbb{P}^3$. An ingredient for establishing the former is an explicit classification of homogeneous nondegenerate Legendrian curves in $\mathbb{P}^3$, which we present.

Abstract:We investigate positive braid Legendrian links via a Floer-theoretic approach and prove that their augmentation varieties are cluster K 2 (aka. -) varieties. Using the exact Lagrangian cobordisms of Legendrian links in Ekholm et al. (J. Eur. Math. Soc. 18(11):2627–2689, 2016), we prove that a large family of exact Lagrangian fillings of positive braid Legendrian links correspond to cluster seeds of their augmentation varieties. We solve the infinite-filling problem for positive braid Legendrian links; i.e., whenever a positive braid Legendrian link is not of type ADE, it admits infinitely many exact Lagrangian fillings up to Hamiltonian isotopy.

On the Legendrian realisation of parametric families of knots

Abstract:We study the natural inclusion of the space of Legendrian embeddings in $(\mathbb{S}^3,\xi_{\operatorname{std}})$ into the space of smooth embeddings from a homotopical viewpoint. T. Kálmán posed in [Kal] the open question of whether for every fixed knot type $\mathcal{K}$ and Legendrian representative $\mathcal{L}$, the homomorphism $\pi_1(\mathcal{L})\to\pi_1(\mathcal{K})$ is surjective. We positively answer this question for infinitely many knot types $\mathcal{K}$ in the three main families (hyperbolic, torus and satellites) and every stabilised Legendrian representative in $(\mathbb{S}^3,\xi_{\operatorname{std}})$. We then show that for every $n\geq 3$, the homomorphisms $\pi_n(\mathcal{L})\to\pi_n(\mathcal{K})$ and $\pi_n(\mathcal{FL})\to\pi_n(\mathcal{K})$ are never surjective for any knot type $\mathcal K$, Legendrian representative $\mathcal L$ or formal Legendrian representative $\mathcal{FL}$. This shows the existence of rigidity at every higher-homotopy level beyond $\pi_3$. For completeness, we also show that surjectivity at the $\pi_2$-level depends on the smooth knot type.

Non-semisimple link and manifold invariants for symplectic fermions

Abstract:We consider the link and three-manifold invariants in [DGGPR], which are defined in terms of certain non-semisimple finite ribbon categories $\mathcal{C}$ together with a choice of tensor ideal and modified trace. If the ideal is all of $\mathcal{C}$, these invariants agree with those defined by Lyubashenko in the 90's. We show that in that case the invariants depend on the objects labelling the link only through their simple composition factors, so that in order to detect non-trivial extensions one needs to pass to proper ideals. We compute examples of link and three-manifold invariants for $\mathcal{C}$ being the category of $N$ pairs of symplectic fermions. Using a quasi-Hopf algebra realisation of $\mathcal{C}$, we find that the Lyubashenko-invariant of a lens space is equal to the order of its first homology group to the power $N$, a relation we conjecture to hold for all rational homology spheres. For $N \ge 2$, $\mathcal{C}$ allows for tensor ideals $\mathcal{I}$ with a modified trace which are different from all of $\mathcal{C}$ and from the projective ideal. Using the theory of pull-back traces and symmetrised cointegrals, we show that the link invariant obtained from $\mathcal{I}$ can distinguish a continuum of indecomposable but reducible objects which all have the same composition series.

Persistent Legendrian contact homology in $\mathbb{R}^3$

Abstract:This work applies the ideas of persistent homology to the problem of distinguishing Legendrian knots. We develop a persistent version of Legendrian contact homology by filtering the Chekanov-Eliashberg DGA using the action (height) functional. We present an algorithm for assigning heights to a Lagrangian diagram of a Legendrian knot, and we explain how each Legendrian Reidemeister move changes the height of generators of the DGA in a way that is predictable on the level of homology. More precisely, a Reidemeister move that changes an area patch of a Lagrangian diagram by {\delta} will induce a 2{\delta}-interleaving on the persistent Legendrian contact homology, computed before and after the Reidemeister move. Finally, we develop strong Morse inequalities for our persistent Legendrian contact homology.

Abstract:This work studies Legendrian loop actions on exact Lagrangian fillings of Legendrian links in $(\R^3, \xi_{\st})$. By identifying the induced action of Legendrian loops as generators of cluster modular groups, we establish the existence of faithful group actions on the exact Lagrangian fillings of several families of Legendrian positive braid closures, including all positive torus links. In addition, we leverage a Nielsen-Thurston-like classification of cluster automorphisms to provide new combinatorial and algebraic tools for proving that a Legendrian loop action has infinite order.

Non-semisimple $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ quantum invariants of fibred links

Abstract:The Akutsu-Deguchi-Ohtsuki (ADO) invariants are the most studied quantum link invariants coming from a non-semisimple tensor category. We show that, for fibered links in $S^3$, the degree of the ADO invariant is determined by the genus and the top coefficient is a root of unity. More precisely, we prove that the top coefficient is determined by the Hopf invariant of the plane field of $S^3$ associated to the fiber surface. Our proof is based on the genus bounds established in our previous work, together with a theorem of Giroux-Goodman stating that fiber surfaces in the three-sphere can be obtained from a disk by plumbing/deplumbing Hopf bands.

Abstract:We put a new spin on Khovanov--Rozansky homology. That is, we equip $\Lambda^n$-colored $\mathfrak{sl}_{2n}$ Khovanov--Rozansky homology with an involution whose $\pm 1$-eigenspaces are link invariants. When $n=1,2,3$ (and assuming technical conjectures for $n \geq 4$), we prove that this refined invariant categorifies the spin-colored $\mathfrak{so}_{2n+1}$ quantum link polynomial. Along the way, we partially develop the theory of quantum $\mathfrak{so}_{2n+1}$ webs and make contact with $\iota$quantum groups.

Abstract:The goal of this note is to study integrable properties of a generating function of the HOMFLY-PT invariants of the Hopf link colored with different representations. We demonstrate that such a generating function is a $\tau$-function of the KP hierarchy. Furthermore, this Hopf generating function in the case of composite representations, which is a generating function of the 4-point functions in topological string (corresponding to the resolved conifold with branes on the four external legs), is a $\tau$-function of the universal character(UC) hierarchy put on the topological locus. We also briefly discuss a simple matrix model associated with the UC hierarchy.

Abstract:Exceptional points (EPs) are peculiar band singularities and play a vital role in a rich array of unusual optical phenomena and non-Hermitian band theory. In this paper, we provide a topological classification of isolated EPs based on homotopy theory. In particular, the classification indicates that an $n$-th order EP in two dimensions is fully characterized by the braid group B$_n$, with its eigenenergies tied up into a geometric knot along a closed path enclosing the EP. The quantized discriminant invariant of the EP is the writhe of the knot. The knot crossing number gives the number of bulk Fermi arcs emanating from each EP. Furthermore, we put forward a non-Hermitian no-go theorem, which governs the possible configurations of EPs and their splitting rules on a two-dimensional lattice and goes beyond the previous fermion doubling theorem. We present a simple algorithm generating the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian with a prescribed knot. Our framework constitutes a systematic topological classification of the EPs and paves the way towards exploring the intriguing phenomena related to the enigmatic non-Hermitian band degeneracy.

On geometric realizations of the extreme Khovanov homology of pretzel links

Abstract:González-Meneses, Manchón, and Silvero showed that the (hypothetical) extreme Khovanov homology of a link diagram is isomorphic to the reduced (co)homology of the independence simplicial complex of its Lando graph. Przytycki and Silvero conjectured that the extreme Khovanov homology of any link diagram is torsion-free. In this paper, we investigate explicit geometric realizations of the real-extreme Khovanov homology of pretzel links. This gives further support for the conjecture.
