Abstract:We consider a filtration on the cohomology of the structure sheaf indexed by (not necessarily reduced) divisors ``at infinity''. We show that the filtered pieces have transfers morphisms, fpqc descent, and are so called cube invariant. In the presence of resolution of singularities and weak factorisation they are invariant under blowup ``at infinity''. As such, they lead to a realisation functor from Kahn, Miyazaki, Saito and Yamazaki's category of motives with modulus over a characteristic zero base field.

Abstract:Given an effective Cartier divisor D with simple normal crossing support on a smooth and proper scheme X over a perfect field of positive characteristic p, there is a natural notion of de Rham-Witt sheaves on X with zeros along D. We show that these sheaves correspond under Grothendieck duality for coherent sheaves to de Rham-Witt sheaves on X with modulus (X,D), as defined in the theory of cube invariant modulus sheaves with transfers developed by Kahn-Miyazaki-Saito-Yamazaki. From this we deduce refined versions of Ekedahl - and Poincaré duality for crystalline cohomology generalizing results of Mokrane and Nakkajima for reduced D, and a modulus version of Milne-Kato duality for étale motivic cohomology with p-primary torsion coefficients, which refines a result of Jannsen-Saito-Zhao. We furthermore get new integral models for rigid cohomology with compact supports on the complement of D and a modulus version of Milne's perfect Brauer group pairing for smooth projective surfaces over finite fields.

Abstract:We study the weighted spectrum and vanishing cohomology for several classes of isolated hypersurface singularities, and how they contribute to the limiting mixed Hodge structure of a smoothing. Applications are given to several types of singularities arising in KSBA and GIT compactifications and mirror symmetry, including nodes on odd-dimensional hypersurfaces, $k$-log-canonical and $k$-rational singularities, and singularities with Calabi-Yau tail.

Abstract:In this paper we study mixed Hodge structures on the cohomology of locally symmetric varieties and give an application to modular forms. After proving vanishing of some Hodge numbers, we focus on the weight filtration on the last Hodge subspace of the middle degree cohomology. We prove that the weight filtration coincides with the corank filtration on the space of modular forms of canonical weight defined by the Siegel operators, and calculate the graded quotients. As an application, we deduce surjectivity of the total Siegel operators in many cases, and identify an obstruction space in the remaining case.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish Deligne's logarithmic comparison theorem and the $E_1$-degeneration of the corresponding Hodge-de Rham spectral sequence, in the setting of toroidal embeddings. Abstract:We prove the decomposition theorem for Hodge modules with integral structure along proper Kähler morphisms, partially generalizing M. Saito's theorem for projective morphisms. Our proof relies on compactifications of period maps of generically defined variations of Hodge structure, as well as the theorems of Cattani-Kaplan-Schmid on $L^2$-cohomology of variations of Hodge structure for the hard Lefschetz theorem.

Abstract:The goal of the current text is to study non-archimedean analytic derived de Rham cohomology by means of formal completions. Our approach is inspired by the deformation to the normal cone provided in \cite{Gaitsgory_Study_II}. More specifically, given a morphism $f \colon X \to Y$ of (derived) $k$-analytic spaces we construct the \emph{non-archimedean deformation to the normal cone} associated to $f$. The latter can be thought as an $\mathbf A^1_k$-parametrized deformation whose fiber at $1 \in \mathbf A^1_k$ coincides with the formal completion of $f$ and the fiber at $0 \in \mathbf A^1_k$ with the (derived) normal cone associated to $f$. We further show that such deformation can be endowed with a natural filtration which spreads out the usual Hodge filtration on the (completed shifted) analytic tangent bundle to the formal completion. Such filtration agrees with the $I$-adic filtration in the case where $f$ is a locally complete intersection morphism between (derived) $k$-affinoid spaces. Along the way we develop the theory of (ind-inf)-$k$-analytic spaces or in other words $k$-analytic formal moduli problems.

Abstract:We prove that, on a smooth, connected variety in characteristic zero admitting a rational point, local systems of geometric origin are stable under extension in the category of all local systems. As a consequence of this, we obtain a (Nori) motivic strengthening of Hain's theorem on Malcev completions of monodromy representations. Our methods are Tannakian, and rely on an abstract criterion for ``Malcev completeness'', which is proved in the first part of the paper. A couple of secondary applications of this criterion are given: an alternative proof of D'Addezio--Esnault's theorem, which says that local systems of Hodge origin are stable under extension in the category of all local systems; a generalisation of the theorem of Hain, mentioned above, which also affirms a conjecture of Arapura; and an alternative proof of a theorem of Lazda, which under suitable assumptions gives an isomorphism between the relative unipotent de Rham fundamental group and the unipotent de Rham fundamental group of the special fibre.

Abstract:We exhibit the Hodge degeneration from nonabelian Hodge theory as a -fold delooping of the filtered loop space -groupoid in formal moduli problems. This is an iterated groupoid object which in degree recovers the filtered circle of [MRT22]. This exploits a hitherto unstudied additional piece of structure on the topological circle, that of an -cogroupoid object in the -category of spaces. We relate this cogroupoid structure with the more commonly studied 'pinch map' on , as well as the Todd class of the Lie algebroid ; this is an invariant of a smooth and proper scheme X that arises, for example, in the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch theorem. In particular, we relate the existence of nontrivial Todd classes for schemes to the failure of the pinch map to be formal in the sense of rational homotopy theory. Finally, we record some consequences of this bit of structure at the level of Hochschild cohomology.

Abstract:We prove that the relative log de Rham cohomology groups of a projective semistable log smooth degeneration admit a natural \textit{limiting} mixed Hodge structure. More precisely, we construct a family of increasing filtrations and a family of nilpotent endomorphisms on the relative log de Rham cohomology groups and show that they satisfy a part of good properties of a nilpotnet orbit in several variables.

Abstract:We categorify the inclusion–exclusion principle for partially ordered topological spaces and schemes to a filtration on the derived category of sheaves. As a consequence, we obtain functorial spectral sequences that generalize the two spectral sequences of a stratified space and certain Vassiliev-type spectral sequences; we also obtain Euler characteristic analogs in the Grothendieck ring of varieties. As an application, we give an algebro-geometric proof of Vakil and Wood's homological stability conjecture for the space of smooth hypersurface sections of a smooth projective variety. In characteristic zero this conjecture was previously established by Aumonier via topological methods.

Abstract:We prove that the cyclic homology of a saturated $A_\infty$ category admits the structure of a `polarized variation of Hodge structures', building heavily on the work of many authors: the main point of the paper is to present complete proofs, and also explicit formulae for all of the relevant structures. This forms part of a project of Ganatra, Perutz and the author, to prove that homological mirror symmetry implies enumerative mirror symmetry.

Abstract:We define the motivic filtrations on real topological Hochschild homology and its companions. In particular, we prove that real topological cyclic homology admits a natural complete filtration whose graded pieces are equivariant suspensions of syntomic cohomology. As an application, we compute the equivariant slices of $p$-completed real $K$-theories of $\mathbb{F}_p[x]/x^e$ and $\mathbb{Z}/p^n$ after certain suspensions assuming a real refinement of the Dundas-McCarthy-Goodwillie theorem and an announced result of Antieau-Krause-Nikolaus.

Abstract:Given a smooth scheme $X$ over the field $\mathbb{R}$ of real numbers and a line bundle $\mathcal{L}$ on $X$ with associated topological line bundle $L=\mathcal{L}(\mathbb{R})$, we study the real cycle class map $\widetilde{\gamma}_{\mathbb{R}}:\widetilde{\mathrm{CH}}^c(X,\mathcal{L})\rightarrow\mathrm{H}^c(X(\mathbb{R}),\mathbb{Z}(L))$ from the $c$-th Chow-Witt group of $X$ to the $c$-th cohomology group of its real locus $X(\mathbb{R})$ with coefficients in the local system $\mathbb{Z}(L)$ associated with $L$. We focus on the cases $c\in\{0,d-2,d-1,d\}$ where $d$ is the dimension of $X$ and we formulate an analogue of the Hodge conjecture in terms of the exponents of the cokernel of $\widetilde{\gamma}_{\mathbb{R}}$ that is corroborated by the results obtained in those codimensions.

Equivariant aspects of de-completing cyclic homology

Abstract:Derived de Rham cohomology turns out to be important in p-adic geometry, following Bhatt's discovery [Bha12] of conjugate filtration in char p, de-Hodge-completing results in [Bei12]. In [Kal18], Kaledin introduced an analogous de-completion of the periodic cyclic homology, called the polynomial periodic cyclic homology, equipped with a conjugate filtration in char p, and expected to be related to derived de Rham cohomology. In this article, using genuine equivariant homotopy structure on Hochschild homology as in [ABG+18, BHM22], we give an equivariant description of Kaledin's polynomial periodic cyclic homology. This leads to Morita invariance without any Noetherianness assumption as in [Kal18], and the comparison to derived de Rham cohomology becomes transparent. Moreover, this description adapts directly to "topological" analogues, which gives rise to a de-Nygaard-completion of the topological periodic cyclic homology over a perfectoid base. We compare it to topological Hochschild homology over $\mathbb F_p$, and produce a conjugate filtration in char p from our description.

Abstract:As a consequence of Efimov's proof of rigidity of the $\infty$-category of localising motives, Scholze and Efimov have constructed refinements of localising invariants such as $\operatorname{TC}^-$. In this article we compute the homotopy groups of the refined invariants $\operatorname{TC}^{-,\mathrm{ref}}(\mathrm{ku}\otimes\mathbb Q/\mathrm{ku})$ and $\operatorname{TC}^{-,\mathrm{ref}}(\mathrm{KU}\otimes\mathbb Q/\mathrm{KU})$. The computation involves a surprising connection to $q$-de Rham cohomology. In particular, it suggests a construction of a $q$-Hodge filtration on $q$-de Rham complexes in certain situations, which can be used to construct a functorial derived $q$-Hodge complex for many rings. This is in contrast to a no-go result by the second author, who showed that such a $q$-Hodge complex (and thus also a $q$-Hodge filtration) cannot exist in full generality.
