Abstract:In this paper, we investigate stochastic heat equation with sublinear diffusion coefficients. By assuming certain concavity of the diffusion coefficient, we establish non-trivial moment upper bounds and almost sure spatial asymptotic properties for the solutions. These results shed light on the smoothing intermittency effect under weak diffusion (i.e., sublinear growth) previously observed by Zeldovich et al. [Zel+87]. The sample-path spatial asymptotics obtained in this paper partially bridge a gap in earlier works of Conus et al. [CJK13; Con+13], which focused on two extreme scenarios: a linear diffusion coefficient and a bounded diffusion coefficient. Our approach is highly robust and applicable to a variety of stochastic partial differential equations, including the one-dimensional stochastic wave equation and the stochastic fractional diffusion equations.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to study the asymptotic properties of solutions to stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) under sub - linear diffusion coefficient conditions. Specifically, the author focuses on the spatial asymptotic behavior and moment bound estimates of solutions to the stochastic heat equation (SHE) with sub - linear diffusion coefficients. By assuming certain concavity conditions of the diffusion coefficient, the author establishes non - trivial moment upper bounds and almost - sure spatial asymptotic properties. These results reveal the phenomenon of smoothing intermittent effects under weak diffusion (i.e., sub - linear growth) conditions, which is consistent with the phenomenon previously observed by Zeldovich et al. ### Overview of Main Problems 1. **Research Background**: - Previous studies have mainly focused on the extreme cases where the diffusion coefficient is of linear growth or bounded, while this paper explores the case where the diffusion coefficient is of sub - linear growth. - The sub - linear diffusion coefficient is more realistic in biological population models because it can better describe the actual birth and death control mechanisms. 2. **Research Objectives**: - Establish the moment upper bounds and spatial asymptotic properties of solutions to the stochastic heat equation under sub - linear diffusion coefficients. - Explore how these properties are affected by the diffusion coefficient, especially in the case of sub - linear growth. 3. **Main Contributions**: - By assuming the concavity conditions of the diffusion coefficient, non - trivial moment upper bounds are established. - Almost - sure spatial asymptotic properties are proven, partially filling the gap in previous studies between linear diffusion coefficients and bounded diffusion coefficients. - A method applicable to multiple stochastic partial differential equations is provided, including one - dimensional stochastic wave equations and fractional - order diffusion equations. ### Specific Problems - **Moment Upper Bounds**: - By assuming the local boundedness and sub - linear growth conditions of the diffusion coefficient, the author establishes the moment upper bounds of solutions. Specifically, for any \((t, x, p)\in\mathbb{R}^+\times\mathbb{R}^d\times[2,\infty)\), the \(p\)-th moment of the solution \(u(t, x)\) satisfies: \[ \|u(t, x)\|_p^2\leqslant2J_0(t, x)^2 + 2(2\pi)^d\left(h(t)^{-1}J_1(t, x)+4K_M^2h(t)+F^{-1}(2ph(t))\right) \] - where \(J_0(t, x)\) and \(J_1(t, x)\) respectively represent the integrals of the initial condition and the noise structure, \(h(t)\) is a function related to the noise, \(K_M\) is the local bounded constant of the diffusion coefficient, and \(F^{-1}\) is the inverse of the function determined by the diffusion coefficient. - **Spatial Asymptotic Properties**: - The author proves the asymptotic upper bound in space of the solution under the condition of sub - linear diffusion coefficient. Specifically, for any \(t > 1\) and \(R\rightarrow\infty\), the solution \(u(t, x)\) satisfies: \[ \sup_{|x|\leqslant R}u(t, x)\lesssim\sqrt{F^{-1}(C h(t)\log R)}, \quad \text{almost surely} \] - These results partially fill the gap in previous studies between linear diffusion coefficients and bounded diffusion coefficients. ### Methods and Techniques - **Technical Assumptions**: - The diffusion coefficient \(\rho\) is locally bounded and grows sub - linearly at infinity. - The initial condition \(\mu\) satisfies certain integral conditions to ensure the existence and uniqueness of solutions. - The noise structure \(f\) satisfies the improved Dalang condition. - **Proof Strategies**: - By using the Burkholder - Davis - Gundy inequality, Minkowski inequality and Jensen inequality, the inequality of the moment upper bounds of solutions is derived. - By using the concavity conditions of the diffusion coefficient, the estimates of the moment upper bounds and spatial asymptotic properties of solutions are established. - Through
