Abstract:In this paper we shall establish some results on weak convergence for vector-valued continuous random processes, among which are vector-valued sub-Gaussian processes, vector-valued random processes satisfying Lipschitz conditions, and random Fourier series with vector-valued coefficients. The results obtained can be considered as corresponding extensions of those in the real setting. Our basic ideas stem from Fernique's recent works.

Abstract:Geodesic contraction in vector-valued differential equations is readily verified by linearized operators which are uniformly negative-definite in the Riemannian metric. In the infinite-dimensional setting, however, such analysis is generally restricted to norm-contracting systems. We develop a generalization of geodesic contraction rates to Banach spaces using a smoothly-weighted semi-inner product structure on tangent spaces. We show that negative contraction rates in bijectively weighted spaces imply asymptotic norm-contraction, and apply recent results on asymptotic contractions in Banach spaces to establish the existence of fixed points. We show that contraction in surjectively weighted spaces verify non-equilibrium asymptotic properties, such as convergence to finite- and infinite-dimensional subspaces, submanifolds, limit cycles, and phase-locking phenomena. We use contraction rates in weighted Sobolev spaces to establish existence and continuous data dependence in nonlinear PDEs, and pose a method for constructing weak solutions using vanishing one-sided Lipschitz approximations. We discuss applications to control and order reduction of PDEs.

Abstract:We study associate and double associate spaces of two-weighted Sobolev spaces of the first order on real half-line and we show that unlike the notion of duality the associativity is divided into two cases which we call "strong" and "weak" ones with the division of the second associativity into four cases. On the way we prove that the Sobolev space of compactly supported functions possess weak associated reflexivity and the double weak-strong associate space is vacuous. The case of power weights was recently characterized by reduction to Ces\`{a}ro or Copson type spaces [18].

Abstract:The theory of Banach spaces of Dirichlet series has drawn an increasing attention in the recent 25 years. One of the main interest of this new theory is that of defining analogues of the classical spaces of analytic functions on the unit disc. In this sense, Bergman spaces were introduced several years ago contributing to broaden the picture of this theory. In the paper presenting these new family of spaces, some of its most essential questions were considered. Among them, some partial estimates of the norm of the pointwise evaluation functional were given. In this work, we introduce a version of the Riemann-Liouville semigroup acting on these spaces, and, with this new tool, we are able to estimate the norm of this functional.

Abstract:An investigation is made of the generalized Cesàro operators $C_t$, for $t\in [0,1]$, when they act on the space $H(\mathbb{D})$ of holomorphic functions on the open unit disc $\mathbb{D}$, on the Banach space $H^\infty$ of bounded analytic functions and on the weighted Banach spaces $H_v^\infty$ and $H_v^0$ with their sup-norms. Of particular interest are the continuity, compactness, spectrum and point spectrum of $C_t$ as well as their linear dynamics and mean ergodicity.

Abstract:In this paper we study weighted Hardy-Sobolev spaces of vector valued functions analytic on double-napped cones of the complex plane. We introduce these spaces as a tool for complex scaling of linear ordinary differential equations with dilation analytic unbounded operator coefficients. As examples we consider boundary value problems in cylindrical domains and domains with quasicylindrical ends.

Abstract:This habilitation thesis centres on linearisation of vector-valued functions which means that vector-valued functions are represented by continuous linear operators. The first question we face is which vector-valued functions may be represented by continuous linear operators where vector-valued means that the functions have values in a locally convex Hausdorff space $E$. We study this problem in the framework of $\varepsilon$-products and give sufficient conditions when a space of $E$-valued functions coincides (up to an isomorphism) with the $\varepsilon$-product of a corresponding space of scalar-valued functions and the codomain $E$. We apply our linearisation results to lift results that are known for the scalar-valued case to the vector-valued case. We transfer the solvability of a linear partial differential equation in certain function spaces from the scalar-valued case to the vector-valued case, which also gives an affirmative answer to the question of (continuous, smooth, holomorphic, distributional, etc.) parameter dependence of solutions in the scalar-valued case. Further, we give a unified approach to handle the problem of extending vector-valued functions via the existence of weak extensions under the constraint of preserving the properties, like holomorphy, of the scalar-valued extensions. Our approach also covers weak-strong principles. In particular, we study weak-strong principles for continuously partially differentiable functions of finite order and improve the well-known weak-strong principles of Grothendieck and Schwartz. We use our results to derive Blaschke's convergence theorem for several spaces of vector-valued functions and Wolff's theorem for the description of dual spaces of several function spaces of scalar-valued functions. Moreover, we transfer known series expansions and sequence space representations from scalar-valued to vector-valued functions.

Abstract:A variety of norm inequalities related to Bergman and Dirichlet spaces induced by radial weights are considered. Some of the results obtained can be considered as generalizations of certain known special cases while most of the estimates discovered are completely new. The second objective of the paper is to apply the obtained norm inequalities to relate the growth of the maximum modulus of a conformal map $f$, measured in terms of a weighted integrability condition, to a geometric quantity involving the area of image under $f$ of a disc centered at the origin. Our findings in this direction yield new geometric characterizations of conformal maps in certain weighted Dirichlet and Besov spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors establish the weighted weak and strong type norm inequalities in the set of weighted Herz-type spaces for a vector-valued analogue of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator; and using this, the authors obtain the weightd inequalies for a wide class of sublinear singular operators defined on R n which include the Calderón-Zygmund operators as special cases. The fractional versions of these results are also given.
A new approach to weighted Sobolev spaces

Abstract:We present in this paper a new way to define weighted Sobolev spaces when the weight functions are arbitrary small. This new approach can replace the old one consisting in modifying the domain by removing the set of points where at least one of the weight functions is very small. The basic idea is to replace the distributional derivative with a new notion of weak derivative. In this way, non-locally integrable functions can considered in these spaces. Indeed, assumptions under which a degenerate elliptic partial differential equation has a unique non-locally integrable solution are given. Tools like a Poincaré Inequality and a trace operator are developed, and density results of smooth function are established.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of isometric envelope of a subspace in a Banach space, establishing its connections with several key elements: (a) we explore its relation to the mean ergodic projection on fixed points within a semigroup of contractions, (b) we draw parallels with Korovkin sets from the 1970s, (c) we investigate its impact on the extension properties of linear isometric embeddings. We use this concept to address the recent conjecture that the Gurarij space and the spaces , are the only separable approximately ultrahomogeneous Banach spaces (a certain multidimensional transitivity of the action of the linear isometry group). The similar conjecture for Fraïssé Banach spaces (a strengthening of the approximately homogeneous property) is also considered. We characterize the Hilbert space as the only separable reflexive space in which any closed subspace coincides with its envelope; and we show that the Gurarij space satisfies the same property. We compute some envelopes in the case of Lebesgue spaces, showing that the reflexive -spaces are the only reflexive rearrangement invariant spaces on [0, 1] for which all 1-complemented subspaces are envelopes. We also identify the isometrically unique "full" quotient space of by a Hilbertian subspace, for appropriate values of p , as well as the associated topological group embedding of the unitary group into the isometry group of .

Abstract:Based on the oriented distance function, a linear weak separation function and three nonlinear regular weak separation functions are introduced in reflexive Banach spaces. Particularly, a nonlinear regular weak separation function does not involve any parameters. Moreover, theorems of the weak alternative for vector variational-like inequalities with constraints are derived by the separation functions without any convexity. Saddle-point conditions, which show the equivalence between the existence of a saddle point and a (linear) nonlinear separation of two suitable subsets of the image space, are established for the linear and nonlinear regular weak separation functions, respectively. Necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for vector variational-like inequalities with constraints are also obtained via the saddle-point conditions. Finally, two gap functions for vector variational-like inequalities with constraints and their continuity are derived by using the image space analysis.

G-strong subdifferentiability and applications to norm attaining subspaces

Abstract:We study the reflexivity and strong subdifferentiability within the framework of group invariant mappings. We show that a Banach space is G-reflexive if the norm of its dual is G-strong subdifferentiable. To do this, we extend numerous classical concepts in functional analysis such as weak and weak-star topologies, the polar of a set, duality mapping, to the framework of group invariant mappings. We also extend many classical results in functional analysis including Banach-Alaoglu-Bourbaki's theorem, James' theorem, Moreau's maximum formula, and Krein-Smulian's theorem, to this context. To conclude, we provide an application of these new results by providing sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of closed Banach spaces inside the set of norm-attaining functionals of a Banach space.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of weighted singular vectors and weighted uniform exponent with respect to a set of weights. We prove invariance of these exponents for affine subspaces and submanifolds inside those affine subspaces. For certain submanifolds, we show that there is no totally irrational vector with high uniform exponent, complementing the previously known existence results. Moreover, we show existence and non-existence of non-obvious divergence orbits for certain cones.

To achieve this, we extend the theory of singular integral operators on tent spaces via off-diagonal estimates introduced by [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1112.4292" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1112.4292">arXiv:1112.4292</a>] to obtain estimates on solutions $u$, and also $\nabla u$, $\partial_t u$, and $\mathrm{div} A \nabla u$ in weighted tent spaces, showing at the same time maximal regularity. Uniqueness follows from a different strategy using interior representation for weak solutions and boundary behavior.

Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive demonstration of recent results regarding the structures of the weighted Cesàro and Copson function spaces. These spaces' definitions involve local and global weighted Lebesgue norms; in other words, the norms of these spaces are generated by positive sublinear operators and by weighted Lebesgue norms. The weighted Lebesgue spaces are the special cases of these spaces with a specific set of parameters. Our primary method of investigating these spaces will be the so-called discretization technique. Our technique will be the development of the approach initiated by K.G. Grosse-Erdmann, which allows us to obtain the characterization in previously unavailable situations, thereby addressing decades-old open problems. We investigate the relation (embeddings) between weighted Cesàro and Copson function spaces. The characterization of these embeddings can be used to tackle the problems of characterizing pointwise multipliers between weighted Cesàro and Copson function spaces, the characterizations of the associate spaces of Cesàro (Copson) function spaces, as well as the relations between local Morrey-type spaces.
