Abstract:We developed a two-day physics class that uses a nearby forest as a teaching location. Using low-cost material, students design and carry out physics projects outside of the usual controlled environment that is a classroom. In this way they come to realize that physics can be used to understand the real world. They organize and present their results in an original format, an exhibit they collectively build. This project is an introduction to the role physics can play in exploring environmental issues, incorporating a sensitive and positive aspect which is important in this time of environmental crisis.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to address the issue of how to integrate environmental science into university physics teaching and to help students better understand the role of physics in solving environmental crises through an innovative teaching method that involves conducting physics experiments in a natural environment. Specifically, the paper attempts to address the following questions: 1. **How to enable students to apply physics knowledge in a real natural environment**: By taking students to the forest to conduct physics experiments, allowing them to experience the application of physics in the real world. 2. **How to improve students' autonomy and teamwork skills**: By allowing students to design experiments independently and collaborate in teams to complete projects, fostering their soft skills. 3. **How to make students realize the importance of physics in solving environmental problems**: Although the experiment topics are not limited to environmental issues, this teaching method aims to make students feel the potential of physics in exploring environmental problems. 4. **How to conduct effective scientific experiments with limited time and resources**: By using low-cost tools and techniques, enabling students to complete meaningful experiments in a short time and gain scientific knowledge from them. In summary, this paper proposes a novel teaching method aimed at allowing students to learn physics through hands-on activities in the forest, fostering their autonomy and teamwork skills, and enhancing their understanding of the role of physics in solving environmental problems.
