Abstract:We give a complete description of nontrivial local conservation laws of all orders for a natural generalization of the nonlinear progressive wave equation and, in particular, show that there is an infinite number of such conservation laws.

Abstract:Conservation laws for a class of variable coefficient nonlinear wave equations with power nonlinearities are investigated. The usual equivalence group and the generalized extended one including transformations which are nonlocal with respect to arbitrary elements are introduced. Then, using the most direct method, we carry out a classification of local conservation laws with characteristics of zero order for the equation under consideration up to equivalence relations generated by the generalized extended equivalence group. The equivalence with respect to this group and the correct choice of gauge coefficients of the equations play the major roles for simple and clear formulation of the final results.

Abstract:In this paper, the author proposes a series of multilevel double hashing schemes called cascade hash tables. They use several levels of hash tables. In each table, we use the common double hashing scheme. Higher level hash tables work as fail-safes of lower level hash tables. By this strategy, it could effectively reduce collisions in hash insertion. Thus it gains a constant worst case lookup time with a relatively high load factor(70%-85%) in random experiments. Different parameters of cascade hash tables are tested.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a global existence result for nonlinear Klein–Gordon equations in infinite homogeneous waveguides, R×M, with smooth small data, where M=(M,g) is a Zoll manifold, or a compact revolution hypersurface. The method is based on normal forms, eigenfunction expansion and the special distribution of eigenvalues of the Laplace–Beltrami on such manifolds.

Abstract:For a certain natural generalization of the Infeld—Rowlands equation we prove nonexistence of nontrivial local Hamiltonian structures and nontrivial local symplectic structures of any order, as well as of nontrivial local Noether and nontrivial local inverse Noether operators of any order, and exhaustively characterize all cases when the equation in question admits nontrivial local conservation laws of any order; the method of establishing the above nonexistence results can be readily applied to many other PDEs.

Abstract:In this paper, by means of the Lax representations, we demonstrate the existence of infinitely many conservation laws for the general Toda-type lattice equation, the relativistic Volterra lattice equation, the Suris lattice equation and some other lattice equations. The conserved density and the associated flux are given formulaically. We also give an integrable discretization for a lattice equation with n dependent coefficients.

Abstract:By the Cole-Hopf transformation, with any linear evolution equation in 1+1 dimensions a generalized Burgers equation is associated. We describe local conservation laws of these equations. It turns out that any generalized Burgers equation has only one conservation law, while a linear evolution equation with constant coefficients has an infinite number of (x,t)-independent conservation laws iff the equation involves only odd order terms and, therefore, is bi-Hamiltonian.

Abstract:The quest to reveal the physical essence of the infinitely many symmetries and conservation laws that are intrinsic to integrable systems has historically posed a significant challenge at the confluence of physics and mathematics. This scholarly investigation delves into five open problems related to these boundless symmetries within integrable systems by scrutinizing their multi-wave solutions, employing a fresh analytical methodology. For a specified integrable system, there exist various categories of $n$-wave solutions. Each sub-wave comprising the $n$-wave solution may possess free parameters, including center, width, and periodic parameters. It is evident that these solutions are translation invariant with respect to all these free parameters. We postulate that the entirety of the recognized infinite symmetries merely constitute linear combinations of these finite wave parameter translation symmetries. The conjecture intimates that the currently known infinitely many symmetries are not exhaustive, and an indeterminate number of symmetries remain to be discovered. This conjecture further indicates that by imposing an infinite array of symmetry constraints, it becomes feasible to derive exact multi-wave solutions. By considering the renowned KdV equation and the Burgers equation as simple examples, the conjecture is substantiated for the $n$-soliton solutions. It is unequivocal that any linear combination of the wave parameter translation symmetries retains its status as a symmetry associated with the particular solution. This observation suggests that by introducing a ren-variable and a ren-symmetric derivative which serve as generalizations of the Grassmann variable and the super derivative, it may be feasible to unify classical integrable systems, supersymmetric integrable systems, and ren-symmetric integrable systems within a cohesive hierarchical framework.

Abstract:Two special classes of conserved densities involving arbitrary smooth functions are explicitly formulated for the generalized Riemann equation at arbitrary N. The particular case when N = 2 covers most of the known conserved densities of the equation, and the result is also extended to the famous Gurevich-Zybin, Monge-Ampere and two-component Hunter-Saxton equations by considering certain reductions.

Abstract:The generalized Kaup-Boussinesq equation is a model which is used to describe the water wave. In this paper, Lie group analysis method is used to perform detailed analysis on the generalized Kaup-Boussinesq equation. Some invariant solutions are obtained under the transformation groups. The conservation laws of the generalized Kaup-Boussinesq equation are constructed using two methods: multiplier method and Ibragimov theorem.

Abstract:We study soliton solutions to the Klein-Gordon equation via Lie symmetries and the travelling-wave ansatz. It is shown, by taking a linear combination of the spatial and temporal Lie point symmetries, that soliton solutions naturally exist, and the resulting field lies in the complex plane. We normalize the field over a finite spatial interval, and thereafter, specify one of the integration constants in terms of the other. Solutions to a specific type of nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation are studied via the sine-cosine method, and a real soliton wave is obtained. Lastly, the multiplier method is used to construct conservation laws for this particular nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in (3 + 1)-dimensions.

Abstract:A generalized model for propagation pulses with four power nonlinearities is considered. The equation studied is the generalization of some well-known models and allows us to evaluate the influence of various processes on pulse propagation. The three conservation laws of the equation are found. The equation does pass not the Painlevé trst and the Cauchy problem cannot be solved by the inverse scattering transform. Analytical solutions of the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation are found taking into account the traveling wave reduction. Optical solitons corresponding to the mathematical model are given. Conservative quantities for the bright optical soliton are calculated.

Abstract:The generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with anti-cubic and cubic-quintic-septic nonlinearities is considered. A series of direct transformations is performed for the traveling wave reduction of the original equation. The implicit function method is used for nonlinear ordinary differential equation with some constraints on the parameters. Some analytical solutions are found in the form of periodic and solitary waves. Generalized energy conservation for linear wave equations with time-dependent propagation speed

Abstract:We consider a wave equation with a time-dependent propagation speed, whose potential oscillations are controlled through bounds on its first and second derivatives and by limiting the integral of the difference with a fixed constant. We investigate when the wave equation exhibits generalized energy conservation (GEC), meaning that the energy of all solutions remains bounded for all times by a multiple of the initial energy. When GEC is not satisfied, we provide upper bounds for the growth of the energy. These upper bounds are derived by analyzing the growth of the Fourier components of the solution. Depending on the frequency and the time interval, different energy inequalities are employed to fully exploit our assumptions on the propagation speed. Finally, we present counterexamples that demonstrate the optimality of our upper bound estimates.

Abstract:The discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation on $\Z^d$, $d \geq 1$ is an example of a dispersive nonlinear wave system. Being a Hamiltonian system that conserves also the $\ell^2(\Z^d)$-norm, the well-posedness of the corresponding Cauchy problem follows for square-summable initial data. In this paper, we prove that the well-posedness continues to hold for much less regular initial data, namely anything that has at most a certain power law growth far away from the origin. The growth condition is loose enough to guarantee that, at least in dimension $d=1$, initial data sampled from any reasonable equilibrium distribution of the defocusing DNLS satisfies it almost surely.

Abstract:Infinitely many nonlocal symmetries and conservation laws of the (1+1)-dimensional Sine-Gordon (SG) equation are derived in terms of its Bäcklund transformation (BT). Some special nonlocal symmetries and nonlocal conservation laws are obtained from the linearized equations of the SG equation and its BT. Furthermore, one can derive infinitely many nonlocal symmetries from a known nonlocal symmetry, but also infinitely many nonlocal conservation laws from a known nonlocal conservation law. In addition, infinitely many local and nonlocal conservation laws can be directed generated from BT through the parameter expansion procedure.

Abstract:We consider the global existence for large perturbation solutions of scalar conservation laws with nonlocal dissipative structures.At the very beginning, based on the Green function method and the Littlewood-Paley decomposition, we establish a new regularity criterion to improve the regularity of the solution. It is worth to point out that the key points in the regularity criterion are that $\|u\|_{L^\infty}<+\infty$ for $0\leq~s<1$ and $\|u\|_{C^\alpha}<+\infty$ for $s=1$. Thus, in the following part we devote ourselves to verify the two key points. For the subcritical case, we obtain the boundedness of solution in $L^p$ for any $p\in[2,~+\infty)$ by the maximum principle. Thanks to the nonlinear maximum principle, $C^\alpha$ boundedness is established for the critical case.Finally, the global existence of classical solutions to the scalar conservation with large initial data is obtained.

Abstract:We are interested in reaction-diffusion systems, with a conservation law, exhibiting a Hopf bifurcation at the spatial wave number $k = 0$. With the help of a multiple scaling perturbation ansatz a Ginzburg-Landau equation coupled to a scalar conservation law can be derived as an amplitude system for the approximate description of the dynamics of the original reaction-diffusion system near the first instability. We use the amplitude system to show the global existence of all solutions starting in a small neighborhood of the weakly unstable ground state for original systems posed on a large spatial interval with periodic boundary conditions.
