Abstract:Let $Y(E_n)$ denote the moduli space of pairs $(S,B)$ where $S$ is a del Pezzo surface of degree $9-n$ and $B$ is the labeled (marked) sum of its finitely many lines. When $n=6$, $Y(E_6)$ is the classical moduli space of marked cubic surfaces dating back to the nineteenth century. We describe the compactifications of $Y(E_5)$ and $Y(E_6)$ by Kollár--Shepherd-Barron--Alexeev (KSBA) weighted stable pairs $(S,cB)$. There is a finite wall-and-chamber decomposition of the weight domain $\left(\frac{9-n}{N},1\right]$, and we explicitly identify this decomposition, as well as describe in detail the weighted stable pairs parameterized by the moduli spaces in each chamber. This generalizes the work of Hacking, Keel, and Tevelev constructing the moduli space and its universal family in the weight 1 case, and in particular yields a complete description of the fibers of this family.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is about the compactifications of the moduli space of weighted stable marked cubic surfaces. Specifically, the author studies the methods of compactifying these moduli spaces through Kollár–Shepherd - Barron–Alexeev (KSBA) weighted stable pairs. The main contribution of the paper lies in the detailed description of the structures of these moduli spaces within different weight intervals, especially the description of the wall - crossing phenomena between different weight intervals and how these crossings affect the stable models in the moduli space. ### Core Problems of the Paper 1. **Compactification of Moduli Space**: - Study how to use KSBA weighted stable pairs to compactify the moduli space of marked del Pezzo surfaces (especially cubic surfaces). - Describe the geometric properties and combinatorial structures of these compactifications. 2. **Wall - Crossing Phenomena**: - Analyze in detail the wall - crossing phenomena between different weight intervals. - Describe how these wall - crossings affect the stable models in the moduli space. 3. **Specific Results**: - For cubic surfaces (degree 3 del Pezzo surfaces), describe the five wall positions in the weight domain \(\left[\frac{1}{9}, 1\right]\): \(c = \frac{1}{6}, \frac{1}{4}, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{2}, \frac{2}{3}\). - For each wall position, describe the corresponding moduli space and the fibers of its universal family. ### Structure of the Paper 1. **Introduction**: - Introduce the research background and motivation, mention the previous work and the main contributions of this paper. 2. **Compactification of the Moduli Space of Marked del Pezzo Surfaces**: - Describe in detail how to construct the compactifications of these moduli spaces, especially through the method of tropical compactifications. 3. **The Map \(\pi: Y(E7)\to Y(E6)\) and Its Flattening**: - Describe the natural map from \(Y(E7)\) to \(Y(E6)\) and its flattening process. 4. **The Fibers of the Map \(\tilde{\pi}: \tilde{Y}(E7)\to \tilde{Y}(E6)\)**: - Calculate in detail the fibers of these maps and describe the configuration of Eckardt points. 5. **Eckardt Points**: - Specifically discuss the properties of Eckardt points and their influence on the moduli space. 6. **Moduli Space of Weighted Stable Marked Cubic Surfaces**: - Describe in detail the moduli spaces and their stable models within different weight intervals. 7. **Proof of Theorem 6.5**: - Provide a detailed proof of the main theorem and explain the specific mechanism of the wall - crossing phenomenon. ### Appendix - **Appendix A**: Bottom - up wall crossing. - **Appendix B**: Weighted stable moduli space of marked del Pezzo surfaces of degree 4. - **Appendix C**: Root combinatorics of the universal family \(\tilde{Y}(E7)\to \tilde{Y}(E6)\). ### Main Contributions - **Detailed Description of Wall - Crossing Phenomena**: For cubic surfaces, the paper describes in detail the five wall positions in the weight domain and explains how these walls affect the stable models in the moduli space. - **Provision of Specific Geometric and Combinatorial Structures**: Through detailed analysis of the moduli spaces in different weight intervals, the paper provides abundant information on geometric and combinatorial structures. - **Extension of Previous Work**: The paper not only extends Hacking,
