Abstract:We consider $p$-weak differentiable structures that were recently introduced by the first and last named authors, and prove that the product of $p$-weak charts is a $p$-weak chart. This implies that the product of two spaces with a $p$-weak differentiable structure also admits a $p$-weak differentiable structure. We make partial progress on the tensorization problem of Sobolev spaces by showing an isometric embedding result. Further, we establish tensorization when one of the factors is PI.

Abstract:We study almost squareness and the strong diameter two property in the setting of projective (symmetric) tensor product. We prove that almost squareness is preserved by taking projective tensor product, providing non-trivial examples of ASQ projective tensor product spaces. Furthermore, we give sufficient conditions for a projective symmetric tensor product to have the strong diameter two property which extend most of the known results and provide new examples of such spaces with the strong diameter two property.

Abstract:We study the l^{p_1,...,p_m} singular value problem for non-negative tensors. We prove a general Perron-Frobenius theorem for weakly irreducible and irreducible nonnegative tensors and provide a Collatz-Wielandt characterization of the maximal singular value. Additionally, we propose a higher order power method for the computation of the maximal singular vectors and show that it has an asymptotic linear convergence rate.

Abstract:We study tensor products of two structures situated, in a sense, between normed spaces and (abstract) operator spaces. We call them Lambert and proto-Lambert spaces and pay more attention to the latter ones. The considered two tensor products lead to essentially different norms in the respective spaces. Moreover, the proto-Lambert tensor product is especially nice for spaces with the maximal proto-Lambert norm and in particular, for $L_1$-spaces. At the same time the Lambert tensor product is nice for Hilbert spaces with the minimal Lambert norm.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate the tensor inequalities in the tensor t-product formalism. The inequalities involving tensor power are proved to hold similarly as standard matrix scenarios. We then focus on the tensor norm inequalities. The well-known arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, H{\" o}lder inequality, and Minkowski inequality are generalized to tensors. Furthermore, we obtain some t-eigenvalue inequalities.

Abstract:We study the maximum ratio of the Euclidean norm to the comass norm of p-covectors in Euclidean n-space and improve the known upper bound found in the standard references by Whitney and Federer. We go on to prove stable systolic inequalities when the fundamental cohomology class of the manifold is a cup product of forms of lower degree.

Abstract:We establish a uniform domination of the family of trilinear multiplier forms with singularity over a one‐dimensional subspace by positive sparse forms involving Lp‐averages. This class includes the adjoint forms to the bilinear Hilbert transforms. Our result strengthens the Lp‐boundedness proved by Muscalu, Tao and Thiele, and entails as a corollary a novel rich multilinear weighted theory. A particular case of this theory is the Lq(v1)×Lq(v2)‐boundedness of the bilinear Hilbert transform when the weight vj belong to the class Aq+12∩RH2. Our proof relies on a stopping time construction based on newly developed localized outer‐Lp embedding theorems for the wave packet transform. In the Appendix, we show how our domination principle can be applied to recover the vector‐valued bounds for the bilinear Hilbert transforms recently proved by Benea and Muscalu.

Abstract:A "tensor space" is a vector space equipped with a finite collection of multi-linear forms. In previous work, we showed that (for each signature) there exists a universal homogeneous tensor space, which is unique up to isomorphism. Here we generalize that result: we show that each Zariski class of tensor spaces contains a weakly homogeneous space, which is unique up to isomorphism; here, we say that two tensor spaces are "Zariski equivalent" if they satisfy the same polynomial identities. Our work relies on the theory of $\mathbf{GL}$-varieties developed by Bik, Draisma, Eggermont, and Snowden.

Abstract:This is the first of two works concerning the Sobolev calculus on metric measure spaces and its applications. In this work, we focus on several notions of metric Sobolev space and on their equivalence. More precisely, we give a systematic presentation of first-order $p$-Sobolev spaces, with $p\in[1,\infty)$, defined over a complete and separable metric space equipped with a boundedly-finite Borel measure. We focus on three different approaches: via approximation with Lipschitz functions; by studying the behaviour along curves, in terms either of the curve modulus or of test plans; via integration-by-parts, using Lipschitz derivations with divergence. Eventually, we show that all these approaches are fully equivalent. We emphasise that no doubling or Poincaré assumption is made, and that we allow also for the exponent $p=1$.

Abstract:We prove that there exists a finite-dimensional Banach space $X$ such that $L_1^\mathbb C([0,1])\widehat{\otimes}_\varepsilon X$ fails the strong diameter two property and $L_\infty^\mathbb C([0,1])\widehat{\otimes}_\pi X^*$ fails to have octahedral norm. This proves that the octahedrality of the norm (respectively the strong diameter two property) is not automatically inherited from one factor by taking projective tensor product (respectively injective tensor product), which answers [16,Question 4.4].

Abstract:We give a sufficient condition for a pair of Banach spaces $(X,Y)$ to have the following property: whenever $W_1 \subseteq X$ and $W_2 \subseteq Y$ are sets such that $\{x\otimes y: \, x\in W_1, \, y\in W_2\}$ is weakly precompact in the projective tensor product $X \widehat{\otimes}_\pi Y$, then either $W_1$ or $W_2$ is relatively norm compact. For instance, such a property holds for the pair $(\ell_p,\ell_q)$ if $1<p,q<\infty$ satisfy $1/p+1/q\geq 1$. Other examples are given that allow us to provide alternative proofs to some results on multiplication operators due to Saksman and Tylli. We also revisit, with more direct proofs, some known results about the embeddability of $\ell_1$ into $X \widehat{\otimes}_\pi Y$ for arbitrary Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$, in connection with the compactness of all operators from $X$ to $Y^*$.

Abstract:We study the scalar curvature of incomplete wedge metrics in certain stratified spaces with a single singular stratum (wedge spaces). Building upon several well established technical tools for this category of spaces (the corresponding Yamabe, elliptic and index theories) we provide existence and obstruction results for such metrics under suitable positivity assumptions on the underlying geometry. This is meant to be a follow-up to a previous paper of ours (AGAG, 2022), where the case of spaces with an isolated conical singularity was considered.

Abstract:In this article we prove martingale type pointwise convergence theorems pertaining to tensor product splines defined on $d$-dimensional Euclidean space ($d$ is a positive integer), where conditional expectations are replaced by their corresponding tensor spline orthoprojectors. Versions of Doob's maximal inequality, the martingale convergence theorem and the characterization of the Radon-Nikodým property of Banach spaces $X$ in terms of pointwise $X$-valued martingale convergence are obtained in this setting. Those assertions are in full analogy to their martingale counterparts and hold independently of filtration, spline degree, and dimension $d$.

Abstract:We define new norms for symmetric tensors over ordered normed spaces; these norms are defined by considering linear combinations of tensor products or powers of positive elements only. Relations between the different norms are studied. The results are applied to the problem of representing a finitely exchangeable distribution as a mixture of powers, i.e, mixture of distributions of i.i.d. sequences, using a signed mixing measure.

Abstract:We characterise the Schatten class $S^p$ properties of commutators $[b,T]$ of singular integrals and pointwise multipliers in a general framework of (quasi-)metric measure spaces. This covers, unifies, and extends a range of previous results in different special cases. As in the classical results on $\mathbb R^d$, the characterisation has three parts: (1) For $p>d$, we have $[b,T]\in S^p$ if and only if $b$ is in suitable Besov (or fractional Sobolev) space. (2) For $p\leq d$, we have $[b,T]\in S^p$ if and only if $b$ is constant. (3) For $p=d$, we have $[b,T]\in S^{d,\infty}$ (a weak-type Schatten class) if and only if $b$ is in a first-order Sobolev space. Result (1) is very general and extends to all spaces of homogeneous type as long as there are appropriate singular integrals, while extensions of (2) and (3) are proved for complete doubling metric spaces supporting a suitable Poincaré inequality. For the proof of (3), we extend a recent derivative-free characterisation of the Sobolev space $\dot W^{1,p}(\mathbb R^d)$ by R. Frank to the general domains that we consider; this is our second main result of independent interest.

Abstract:A new $Z$-eigenvalue inclusion theorem for tensors is given and proved to be tighter than those in [G. Wang, G.L. Zhou, L. Caccetta, $Z$-eigenvalue inclusion theorems for tensors, Discrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems Series B,22(1) (2017) 187--198]. Based on this set, a sharper upper bound for the $Z$-spectral radius of weakly symmetric nonnegative tensors is obtained. Finally, numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed bound.

Abstract:In recent years finite tensor products of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces (RKHSs) of Gaussian kernels on the one hand and of Hermite spaces on the other hand have been considered in tractability analysis of multivariate problems. In the present paper we study countably infinite tensor products for both types of spaces. We show that the incomplete tensor product in the sense of von Neumann may be identified with an RKHS whose domain is a proper subset of the sequence space $\mathbb{R}^\mathbb{N}$. Moreover, we show that each tensor product of spaces of Gaussian kernels having square-summable shape parameters is isometrically isomorphic to a tensor product of Hermite spaces; the corresponding isomorphism is given explicitly, respects point evaluations, and is also an $L^2$-isometry. This result directly transfers to the case of finite tensor products. Furthermore, we provide regularity results for Hermite spaces of functions of a single variable.

Abstract:This paper studies the issues about tensors. Three typical kinds of tensor decomposition are mentioned. Among these decompositions, the t-SVD is proposed in this decade. Different definitions of rank derive from tensor decompositions. Based on the research about higher order tensor t-product and tensor products with invertible transform, this paper introduces a product performing higher order tensor products with invertible transform, which is the most generalized case so far. Also, a few properties are proven. Because the optimization model of low-rank recovery often uses the nuclear norm, the paper tries to generalize the nuclear norm and proves its relation to multi-rank of tensors. The theorem paves the way for low-rank recovery of higher order tensors in the future.

Abstract:In this paper, we extend Hardy's inequality to infinite tensors. To do so, we introduce Cesàro tensors C , and consider them as tensor maps from sequence spaces into tensor spaces.
