Abstract:In this paper we provide a sufficient condition for a Furstenberg measure generated by a finitely supported measure to be absolutely continuous. Using this, we give a very broad class of examples of absolutely continuous Furstenberg measures including examples generated by measures supported on two points.

Abstract:Given a measurable space (X,F), a fuzzy measure μ on (X,F), and a nonnegative functionfonXthat is measurable with respect toF, we can define a new set function ν on (X,F) by the fuzzy integral. It is known that ν is a lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure on (X,F) and, moreover, if μ is finite, then ν is a finite fuzzy measure as well. In this paper, we generalize in several different ways the concept of absolute continuity of set functions, as defined in classical measure theory. In addition, we investigate the relationship among these generalizations by using the structural characteristics of set functions such as null-additivity and autocontinuity, and determine which types of absolute continuity of fuzzy measures are possessed by the fuzzy measure (or the lower semicontinuous fuzzy measure) obtained by the fuzzy integral.

Abstract:We generalize a result by Alberti, showing that, if a first-order linear differential operator $\mathcal{A}$ belongs to a certain class, then any $L^1$ function is the absolutely continuous part of a measure $\mu$ satisfying $\mathcal{A}\mu=0$. When $\mathcal{A}$ is scalar valued, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the above property to hold true and we prove dimensional estimates on the singular part of $\mu$. Finally, we show that operators in the above class satisfy a Lusin-type property.

Abstract:We give a condition for absolute continuity of self-similar measures in arbitrary dimensions. This allows us to construct the first explicit absolutely continuous examples of inhomogeneous self-similar measures in dimension one and two. In fact, for $d\geq 1$ and any given rotations in $O(d)$ acting irreducibly on $\mathbb{R}^d$ as well as any distinct translations, all having algebraic coefficients, we construct absolutely continuous self-similar measures with the given rotations and translations. We furthermore strengthen Varjú's result for Bernoulli convolutions, treat complex Bernoulli convolutions and in dimension $\geq 3$ improve the condition on absolute continuity by Lindenstrauss-Varjú. Moreover, self-similar measures of contracting on average measures are studied, which may include expanding similarities in their support.

Abstract:Given a non-flat S-unimodal interval map f, we show that there exists C which only depends on the order of the critical point c such that if |Df n (f(c))|≥C for all n sufficiently large, then f admits an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure (acip). As part of the proof we show that if the quotients of successive intervals of the principal nest of f are sufficiently small, then f admits an acip. As a special case, any S-unimodal map with critical order ℓ<2+ɛ having no central returns possesses an acip. These results imply that the summability assumptions in the theorems of Nowicki & van Strien [21] and Martens & Nowicki [17] can be weakened considerably.

Abstract:This paper is partly an exposition, and partly an extension of our work [1] to the multiparameter case. We consider certain classes of parametrized dynamically defined measures. These are push-forwards, under the natural projection, of ergodic measures for parametrized families of smooth iterated function systems (IFS) on the line. Under some assumptions, most crucially, a transversality condition, we obtain formulas for the Hausdorff dimension of the measure and absolute continuity for almost every parameter in the appropriate parameter region. The main novelty of [1] and the present paper is that not only the IFS, but also the ergodic measure in the symbolic space, whose push-forward we consider, depends on the parameter. This includes many interesting families of measures, in particular, invariant measures for IFS's with place-dependent probabilities and natural (equilibrium) measures for smooth IFS's. One of the goals of this paper is to present an exposition of [1] in a more reader-friendly way, emphasizing the ideas and proof strategies, but omitting the more technical parts. This exposition/survey is based in part on the series of lectures by Károly Simon at the Summer School "Dynamics and Fractals" in 2023 at the Banach Center, Warsaw. The main new feature, compared to [1], is that we consider multi-parameter families; in other words, the set of parameters is allowed to be multi-dimensional. This broadens the scope of applications. A new application considered here is to a class of Furstenberg-like measures.

A characterization of mutual absolute continuity of probability measures on a filtered space

Abstract:We give a new characterization for mutual absolute continuity of probability measures on a filtered space. For this, we introduce a martingale limit $M$ that measures the similarity between the tails of the probability measures restricted to the filtration. The measures are mutually absolutely continuous if and only if $M = 1$ holds almost surely for both measures. In this case, the square roots of the Radon-Nikodym derivatives on the filtration converge in $L^2$. Finally, we apply the result to families of random variables and stochastic processes.

Abstract:Let $f$ and $g$ be two volume preserving, Anosov diffeomorphisms on $\mathbb{T}^2$, sharing common stable and unstable cones. In this paper, we find conditions for the existence of (dissipative) neighborhoods of $f$ and $g$, $\mathcal{U}_f$ and $\mathcal{U}_g$, with the following property: for any probability measure $\mu$, supported on the union of these neighborhoods, and verifying certain conditions, the unique $\mu$-stationary SRB measure is absolutely continuous with respect to the ambient Haar measure. Our proof is inspired in the work of Tsujii for partially hyperbolic endomorphisms [Tsu05]. We also obtain some equidistribution results using the main result of [BRH17].

Abstract:Furstenberg–Zimmer structure theory refers to the extension of the dichotomy between the compact and weakly mixing parts of a measure-preserving dynamical system and the algebraic and geometric descriptions of such parts to a conditional setting, where such dichotomy is established relative to a factor and conditional analogs of those algebraic and geometric descriptions are sought. Although the unconditional dichotomy and the characterizations are known for arbitrary systems, the relative situation is understood under certain countability and separability hypotheses on the underlying groups and spaces. The aim of this article is to remove these restrictions in the relative situation and establish a Furstenberg–Zimmer structure theory in full generality. As an independent byproduct, we establish a connection between the relative analysis of systems in ergodic theory and the internal logic in certain Boolean topoi.

Abstract:In this paper we collect several examples of convergence of functions of random processes to generalized functionals of those processes. We remark that the limit is always finitely absolutely continuous with respect to Wiener measure. We try to unify those examples in terms of convergence of probability measures in Banach spaces. The key notion is the condition of uniform finite absolute continuity.

Abstract:Working with sets of infinite -Hausdorff measures can be cumbersome, so simplifying them to sets of positive finite general fractal measures proves to be highly beneficial. This paper aims to demonstrate that the -Hausdorff measures adhere to the property of being a subset of positive and finite measures. Our main result is then applied to establish that the general fractal function dimension is defined as the supremum of the general fractal dimension across all Borel probability measures.

Abstract:We construct Ahlfors regular Cantor sets $K$ of small dimension in the plane, such that the Hausdorff measure on $K$ is equivalent to the harmonic measure associated to its complement. Abstract:Motivated by the existence problem of Fourier frames on fractal measures, we introduce Bessel and frame measures for a given finite measure on Rd\mathbb {R}^d, as extensions of the notions of Bessel and frame spectra that correspond to bases of exponential functions. Not every finite compactly supported Borel measure admits frame measures. We present a general way of constructing Bessel/frame measures for a given measure. The idea is that if a convolution of two measures admits a Bessel measure, then one can use the Fourier transform of one of the measures in the convolution as a weight for the Bessel measure to obtain a Bessel measure for the other measure in the convolution. The same is true for frame measures, but with certain restrictions. We investigate some general properties of frame measures and their Beurling dimensions. In particular, we show that the Beurling dimension is invariant under convolution (with a probability measure) and under a certain type of discretization. Moreover, if a measure admits a frame measure, then it admits an atomic one, and hence a weighted Fourier frame. We also construct some examples of frame measures for self-similar measures.

Abstract:For each integer $n\ge 1$, denote by $T_{n}$ the map $x\mapsto nx\mod 1$ from the circle group $\mathbb{T} = \mathbb{R}/\mathbb{Z}$ into itself. Let $p,q\ge 2$ be two multiplicatively independent integers. Using Baire Category arguments, we show that generically a $T_{p}$-invariant probability measure $\mu$ on $\mathbb{T}$ with no atom has some large Fourier coefficients along the sequence $(q^n)_{n\ge 0}$. In particular, $(T_{q^{n}}\mu )_{n\ge 0}$ does not converges weak-star to the normalised Lebesgue measure on $\mathbb{T}$. This disproves a conjecture of Furstenberg and complements previous results of Johnson and Rudolph. In the spirit of previous work by Meiri and Lindenstrauss-Meiri-Peres, we study generalisations of our main result to certain classes of sequences $(c_n)_{n\ge 0}$ other than the sequences $(q^{n})_{n\ge 0}$, and also investigate the multidimensional setting.

Abstract:We prove that, for a C-2 non-invertible but non-degenerate map f on a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary, a hyperbolic invariant measure mu is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure on the manifold if, under a condition on the Jacobian of the map, the measure satisfies two entropy formulae for positive exponents [13] and negative exponents [7], respectively. Abstract:Consider piecewise linear Lorenz maps on $[0, 1]$ of the following form \[ f_{a,b,c}(x)= {ll} ax+1-ac & x \in [0, c) b(x-c) & x \in (c, 1].\] We prove that $f_{a,b,c}$ admits an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure (acim) $\mu$ with respect to the Lebesgue measure if and only if $f_{a,b,c}(0) \le f_{a,b,c}(1)$, i.e. $ac+(1-c)b \ge 1$. The acim is unique and ergodic unless $f_{a,b,c}$ is conjugate to a rational rotation. The equivalence between the acim and the Lebesgue measure is also fully investigated via the renormalization theory.

Abstract:Several classes of tempered measures are characterised that are eigenmeasures of the Fourier transform, the latter viewed as a linear operator on (generally unbounded) Radon measures on $\RR^d$. In particular, we classify all periodic eigenmeasures on $\RR$, which gives an interesting connection with the discrete Fourier transform and its eigenvectors, as well as all eigenmeasures on $\RR$ with uniformly discrete support. An interesting subclass of the latter emerges from the classic cut and project method for aperiodic Meyer sets. Finally, we construct a large class of eigenmeasures with locally finite support that is not uniformly discrete and has large gaps around $0$.
