Abstract:We survey several generalizations of the Weyl algebra including generalized Weyl algebras, twisted generalized Weyl algebras, quantized Weyl algebras, and Bell-Rogalski algebras. Attention is paid to ring-theoretic properties, representation theory, and invariant theory.

Abstract:Generalized Weyl algebras (GWAs) appear in diverse areas of mathematics including mathematical physics, noncommutative algebra, and representation theory. We study the invariants of quantum GWAs under finite order automorphisms. We extend a theorem of Jordan and Wells and apply it to determine the fixed ring of quantum GWAs under diagonal automorphisms. We further study properties of the fixed rings including global dimension, the Calabi–Yau property, rigidity, and simplicity.

Twists of twisted generalized Weyl algebras

Abstract:We study graded twisted tensor products and graded twists of twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs). We show that the class of TGWAs is closed under these operations assuming mild hypotheses. We generalize a result on cocycle equivalence amongst multiparameter quantized Weyl algebras to the setting of TGWAs. As another application we prove that certain TGWAs of type $A_2$ are noetherian.

Abstract:In this paper we extend Drinfeld's current realization of quantum affine algebrasUq(ĝ) and of the Yangians in several directions: we construct current operators for non-simple roots of g, define a new braid group action in terms of the current operators, and describe the universalR-matrix for the corresponding “Drinfeld” comultiplication in the forms of an infinite product and of certain integrals over current operators.

Abstract:We study actions by filtered automorphisms on classical generalized Weyl algebras (GWAs). In the case of a defining polynomial of degree two, we prove that the fixed ring under the action of a finite cyclic group of filtered automorphisms is again a classical GWA, extending a result of Jordan and Wells. Partial results are provided for the case of higher degree polynomials. In addition, we establish a version of Auslander's theorem for finite cyclic groups of filtered automorphisms acting on classical GWAs.

Abstract:We define categories $\mathcal{O}^w$ of representations of Borel subalgebras $\mathcal{U}_q\mathfrak{b}$ of quantum affine algebras $\mathcal{U}_q\hat{\mathfrak{g}}$, which come from the category $\mathcal{O}$ twisted by Weyl group elements $w$. We construct inductive systems of finite-dimensional $\mathcal{U}_q\mathfrak{b}$-modules twisted by $w$, which provide representations in the category $\mathcal{O}^w$. We also establish a classification of simple modules in these categories $\mathcal{O}^w$.

Abstract:Recently, a new generalized family of infinite-dimensional $ \widetilde{W} $ algebras, each associated with a particular element of a commutative subalgebra of the $ W_{1+\infty} $ algebra, was described. This paper provides a comprehensive account of the aforementioned association, accompanied by the requisite proofs and illustrative examples. This approach allows a derivation of Ward identities for selected WLZZ matrix models and the expansion of corresponding $ W $-operators in terms of an infinite set of variables $ p_k $.

Abstract:The theory of weak Hopf algebras is a development of the theory of Hopf algebras, which is important in the theory of quantum groups and the related theory of mathematical physics. In this paper, we give a survey of this theory and its applications.Firstly, we review some concepts related to weak Hopf algebras and their relationship and moreover, some algebraical structures. Secondly, we collect the generalizations of quantum double, i.e. quantum quasi-double and quantum G-double, constructed from some certain weak Hopf algebras so as to obtain a class of singular solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (QYBE). Their properties are also introduced in this part. Thirdly, as the important examples of weak Hopf algebras, some weaken quantized enveloping algebra are given which are associated with some generalizations of Lie algebra, such as generalized Kac-Moody algebra, Borcherds superalgebras. Moreover, their algebraic structures are discussed such that one can understand them clearly. Finally, some generalized notions of tensor category are introduced including pre-tensor category and weak tensor category and their braidings. They can be realized respectively from the categories of representations of the related classes of weak Hopf algebras and their quantum quasi-doubles. As the categorical version of a (singular) solutions of the QYBE, a general Yang-Baxter operator is studied. In summary, we list the diagrams of relations among these kinds of categories.

Abstract:This is a review article on the quantum toroidal algebras, focusing on their roles in various solvable structures of 2d conformal field theory, supersymmetric gauge theory, and string theory. Using W -algebras as our starting point, we elucidate the interconnection of affine Yangians, quantum toroidal algebras, and double affine Hecke algebras. Our exploration delves into the representation theory of the quantum toroidal algebra of gl1 in full detail, highlighting its connections to partitions, W -algebras, Macdonald functions, and the notion of intertwiners. Further, we also discuss integrable models constructed on Fock spaces and associated R -matrices, both for the affine Yangian and the quantum toroidal algebra of gl1 . The article then demonstrates how quantum toroidal algebras serve as a unifying algebraic framework that bridges different areas in physics. Notably, we cover topological string theory and supersymmetric gauge theories with eight supercharges, incorporating the AGT duality. Drawing upon the representation theory of the quantum toroidal algebra of gl1 , we provide a rather detailed review of its role in the algebraic formulations of topological vertex and qq -characters. Additionally, we briefly touch upon the corner vertex operator algebras and quiver quantum toroidal algebras.

Weyl group symmetry of q-characters

Abstract:We define an action of the Weyl group W of a simple Lie algebra g on a completion of the ring Y, which is the codomain of the q-character homomorphism of the corresponding quantum affine algebra U_q(g^). We prove that the subring of W-invariants of Y is precisely the ring of q-characters, which is isomorphic to the Grothendieck ring of the category of finite-dimensional representations of U_q(g^). This resolves an old puzzle in the theory of q-characters. We also identify the screening operators, which were previously used to describe the ring of q-characters, as the subleading terms of simple reflections from W in a certain limit. Our results have already found applications to the study of the category O of representations of the Borel subalgebra of U_q(g^) in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2312.13256" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2312.13256">arXiv:2312.13256</a> and to the categorification of cluster algebras in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2401.04616" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2401.04616">arXiv:2401.04616</a>.

The Weyl realizations of Lie algebras and left-right duality

Abstract:We investigate dual realizations of non--commutative spaces of Lie algebra type in terms of formal power series in the Weyl algebra. To each realization of a Lie algebra $\g$ we associate a star--product on the symmetric algebra $S(\g)$ and an ordering on the enveloping algebra $U(\g)$. Dual realizations of $\g$ are defined in terms of left--right duality of the star--products on $S(\g)$. It is shown that the dual realizations are related to an extension problem for $\g$ by shift operators whose action on $U(\g)$ describes left and right shift of the generators of $U(\g)$ in a given monomial. Using properties of the extended algebra, in the Weyl symmetric ordering we derive closed form expressions for the dual realizations of $\g$ in terms of two generating functions for the Bernoulli numbers. The theory is illustrated by considering the $\kappa$--deformed space.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group. For each integral representation ρ of G we consider ρ-decomposable principally polarized abelian varieties; that is, principally polarized abelian varieties (X, H) with -action, of dimension equal to the degree of ρ, which admit a decomposition of the lattice for X into two G-invariant sublattices isotropic with respect to ℑH, with one of the sublattices ℤG-isomorphic to ρ. We give a construction for ρ-decomposable principally polarized abelian varieties, and show that each of them is isomorphic to a product of elliptic curves. Conversely, if ρ is absolutely irreducible, we show that each ρ-decomposable p.p.a.v. is (isomorphic to) one of those constructed above, thereby characterizing them. In the case of irreducible, reduced root systems, we consider the natural representation of its associated Weyl group, apply the preceding general construction, and characterize completely the associated families of principally polarized abelian varieties, which correspond to modular curves.

Abstract:In the theory of C*-algebras, the Weyl groups were defined for the Cuntz algebras and graph algebras by Cuntz and Conti et al. respectively. In this paper, we introduce and investigate the Weyl groups of groupoid C*-algebras as a natural generalization of the existing Weyl groups. Then we analyse several groups of automorphisms on groupoid C*-algebras. Finally, we apply our results to Cuntz algebras, graph algebras and C*-algebras associated with Deaconu-Renault systems.

Abstract:Abstract We present an operator algebraic approach to Wigner's unitary-antiunitary theorem using some classical results from ring theory. To show how effective this approach is, we prove a generalization of this celebrated theorem for Hilbert modules over matrix algebras. We also present a Wigner-type result for maps on prime C *-algebras.

Abstract:It is established that the relationships between Weyl's theorem, Browder's theorem, generalized Weyl's theorem and generalized Browder's theorem in a semiprime Banach algebra . We prove that if the commutant of contains a left or right injective quasinilpotent element, then f ( a ) satisfies Weyl's theorem for f belongs to , the set of analytic functions on a neighborhood of . It is shown that the accumulation points of the spectrum of an element in are invariant under any commuting perturbation f such that for some . This result provides a positive answer to Question 2.8 in (Linear Multilinear Algebra 64(2):247–257, 2016), and it is then applied to investigate the perturbations of Weyl's theorem and generalized Weyl's theorem. It is also shown that if a is a hyponormal element (that is, ) in a algebra and , then f ( a ) satisfies Weyl's theorem. If additionally is primitive then f ( a ) obeys generalized Weyl's theorem. We also consider some other interesting properties of hyponormal elements in C* algebras, including simply polaroidness, topological divisor of zero, self-adjointness of the spectral projection with respect to , and the spectral mapping theorem of the Weyl spectrum.

Abstract:We study a class of $\mathbb{Z}$-graded algebras introduced by Bell and Rogalski. Their construction generalizes in large part that of rank one generalized Weyl algebras (GWAs). We establish certain ring-theoretic properties of these algebras and study their connection to GWAs. We classify the simple weight modules in the infinite orbit case and provide a partial classification in the case of orbits of finite order.
