Abstract:In this paper, we construct a class of special Jacobi cocycles, some element of which is a measurable function defined on the high dimensional torus. We prove that no matter the underlying dynamics is the shift or the skew-shift, the non-perturbative positive Lyapunov exponent holds for any irrational frequency, when the coupling number is large. What's more, if the frequency becomes to be the Diophantine number, then the Lyapunov exponent is weak continuity in the energy.

Abstract:When analytic quasi-periodic cocycles are defined on a high dimension torus, their Lyapunov exponents have perturbative positivity and continuity. In this article, we study a class of analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles defined on a two dimension torus. We show that in the non-perturbative large coupling regimes, the Lyapunov exponent is positive for any frequency and weak Holder continuous for the full-measured frequency.

Abstract:We establish (i) stability of Lyapunov exponents and (ii) convergence in probability of Oseledets spaces for semi-invertible matrix cocycles, subjected to small random perturbations. The first part extends results of Ledrappier and Young to the semi-invertible setting. The second part relies on the study of evolution of subspaces in the Grassmannian.

Abstract:We consider Hölder continuous $GL(d,\mathbb R)$-valued cocycles, and more generally linear cocycles, over an accessible volume-preserving center-bunched partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism. We study the regularity of a conjugacy between two cocycles. We establish continuity of a measurable conjugacy between {\em any} constant $GL(d,\mathbb R)$-valued cocycle and its perturbation. We deduce this from our main technical result on continuity of a measurable conjugacy between a fiber bunched linear cocycle and a cocycle with a certain block-triangular structure. The latter class covers constant cocycles with one Lyapunov exponent. We also establish a result of independent interest on continuity of measurable solutions for twisted vector-valued cohomological equations over partially hyperbolic systems. In addition, we give more general versions of earlier results on regularity of invariant subbudles, Riemannian metrics, and conformal structures.

Abstract:This paper is motivated by recent developments in group stability, high dimensional expansion, local testability of error correcting codes and topological property testing. In Part I, we formulate and motivate three stability problems: 1. Homomorphism stability: Are almost homomorphisms close to homomorphisms? 2. Covering stability: Are almost coverings of a cell complex close to genuine coverings of it? 3. Cocycle stability: Are 1-cochains whose coboundary is small close to 1-cocycles? We then prove that these three problems are equivalent.

Abstract:We address the general problem of studying linear stability and bifurcations of periodic orbits for Hamiltonian systems of arbitrary degrees of freedom. We study the topology of the GIT sequence introduced by the first author and Urs Frauenfelder in [7], in arbitrary dimension. In particular, we note that the combinatorics encoding the linear stability of periodic orbits is governed by a quotient of the associahedron. Our approach gives a topological/combinatorial proof of the classical Krein–Moser theorem, and refines it for the case of symmetric orbits.

Abstract:Suppose $G$ is a higher-rank connected semisimple Lie group with finite center and without compact factors. Let $\mathbb{G}=G$ or $\mathbb{G}=G\ltimes V$, where $V$ is a finite dimensional vector space $V$. For any unitary representation $(\pi,\mathcal{H})$ of $\GG$, we study the twisted cohomological equation $\pi(a)f-\lambda f=g$ for partially hyperbolic element $a\in \mathbb{G}$ and $\lambda\in U(1)$, as well as the twisted cocycle equation $\pi(a_1)f-\lambda_1f=\pi(a_2)g-\lambda_2 g$ for commuting partially hyperbolic elements $a_1,\,a_2\in \mathbb{G}$. We characterize the obstructions to solving these equations, construct smooth solutions and obtain tame Sobolev estimates for the solutions. These results can be extended to partially hyperbolic flows parallelly. As an application, we prove cocycle rigidity for any abelian higher-rank partially hyperbolic algebraic actions. This is the first paper exploring rigidity properties of partially hyperbolic that the hyperbolic directions don't generate the whole tangent space. The result can be viewed as a first step toward the application of KAM method in obtaining differential rigidity for these actions in future works.

Abstract:This work investigates the stability properties of Lyapunov exponents of transfer operator cocycles from a measure-theoretic perspective. Our results focus on so-called Blaschke product cocycles, a class of random dynamical systems amenable to rigorous analysis. We show that prevalence of stability is related to the dimension of the base system's domain, $\Omega$. When $\Omega=S^1$, we show that stability is prevalent among smooth monic quadratic Blaschke product cocycles fixing the origin by constructing a so-called probe. For higher dimensional $\Omega$, we show that a probe does not exist, thus providing strong evidence that stability is not prevalent in this setting. Finally, through a perturbative method we show that almost every smooth Blaschke product cocycle fixing the origin is stable.

Continuous-time extensions of discrete-time cocycles

Abstract:We consider linear cocycles taking values in $\textup{SL}_d(\mathbb{R})$ driven by homeomorphic transformations of a smooth manifold, in discrete and continuous time. We show that any discrete-time cocycle can be extended to a continuous-time cocycle, while preserving its characteristic properties. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition under which this extension is natural in the sense that the base is extended to an associated suspension flow and that the dimension of the cocycle does not change. Further, we refine our general result for the case of (quasi-)periodic driving. As an example, we present a discrete-time cocycle due to Michael Herman. The Furstenberg--Kesten limits of this cocycle do not exist everywhere and its Oseledets splitting is discontinuous. Our results on the continuous-time extension of discrete-time cocycles allow us to construct a continuous-time cocycle with analogous properties.

Abstract:Given a continuous linear cocycle $\mathcal{A}$ over a homeomorphism $f$ of a compact metric space $X$, we investigate its set $\mathcal{R}$ of Lyapunov-Perron regular points, that is, the collection of trajectories of $f$ that obey the conclusions of the Multiplicative Ergodic Theorem. We obtain results roughly saying that the set $\mathcal{R}$ is of first Baire category (i.e., meager) in $X$, unless some rigid structure is present. In some settings, this rigid structure forces the Lyapunov exponents to be defined everywhere and to be independent of the point; that is what we call complete regularity.

Abstract:We propose a handful of definitions of injectivity for a parametrized family of maps and study its link with a global nonuniform stability conjecture for nonautonomous differential systems, which has been recently introduced. This relation allow us to address a particular family of parametrized polynomial automorphisms and to prove that they have polynomial inverse for certain parameters, which is reminiscent to the Jacobian Conjecture.

Abstract:Let f:Td -> Td be an Anosov diffeomorphism whose linearization A is an element of GL(d,Z) is irreducible. Assume that f is also absolutely partially hyperbolic where a weak stable subbundle is considered as the center subbundle. We show that if the strong stable subbundle and the unstable subbundle are jointly integrable, then f is dynamically coherent and all foliations match corresponding linear foliation under the conjugacy to the linearization A. Moreover, f admits the finest dominated splitting in the weak stable subbundle with dimensions matching those for A$A$, and it has spectral rigidity along all these subbundles. In dimension 4, we also obtain a similar result by grouping the weak stable and unstable subbundles together as a center subbundle and assuming joint integrability of the strong stable and unstable subbundles. As an application, we show that for every symplectic diffeomorphism f is an element of Diff(omega)(2)(T-4) that is C-1-close to an irreducible nonconformal automorphism A is an element of Sp(4,Z), the extremal subbundles of f$f$ are jointly integrable if and only if f is smoothly conjugate to A$A$.
Smoothness of linearization by mixing parameters of dichotomy, bounded growth and perturbation

Abstract:We study the smoothness properties of a global and nonautonomous topological conjugacy between a linear system and a quasilinear perturbation. The linear system exhibits a nonuniform exponential dichotomy with a nontrivial projector and nonuniform bounded growth property. Additionally, the quasilinear perturbation is dominated by an increasing exponential function. Emphasis is placed on employing a set of parameters to describe the conditions of dichotomy, bounded growth and quasilinear perturbations. Finally, we prove that modifying these conditions enables us to achieve a broader smoothness interval.

Abstract:Let f be a non-invertible irreducible Anosov map on d-torus. We show that if the stable bundle of f is one-dimensional, then f has the integrable unstable bundle, if and only if, every periodic point of f admits the same Lyapunov exponent on the stable bundle as its linearization. For higher-dimensional stable bundle case, we get the same result on the assumption that f is a C-1-perturbation of a linear Anosov map with real simple Lyapunov spectrum on the stable bundle. In both cases, this implies if f is topologically conjugate to its linearization, then the conjugacy is smooth on the stable bundle.

Abstract:We show a general relation between fixed point stability of suitably perturbed transfer operators and convergence to equilibrium (a notion which is strictly related to decay of correlations).We apply this relation to deterministic perturbations of a large class of maps with indifferent fixed points. It turns out that the L1 dependence of the a.c.i.m. on small suitable deterministic changes for these kind of maps is Hölder, with an exponent which is explicitly estimated.
Singularly Perturbed Stochastic Hybrid Systems: Stability and Recurrence via Composite Nonsmooth Foster Functions

Abstract:We introduce new sufficient conditions for verifying stability and recurrence properties in singularly perturbed stochastic hybrid dynamical systems. Specifically, we focus on hybrid systems with deterministic continuous-time dynamics that exhibit multiple time scales and are modeled by constrained differential inclusions, as well as discrete-time dynamics modeled by constrained difference inclusions with random inputs. By assuming regularity and causality of the dynamics and their solutions, respectively, we propose a suitable class of composite nonsmooth Lagrange-Foster and Lyapunov-Foster functions that can certify stability and recurrence using simpler functions related to the slow and fast dynamics of the system. We establish the stability properties with respect to compact sets, while the recurrence properties are studied only for open sets.
