In the case of the Fokker--Planck equations, the separation of variables is possible under essentially weaker conditions.

Abstract:An analogy of the Fokker-Planck equation (FPE) with the Schr\"odinger equation allows us to use quantum mechanics technique to find the analytical solution of the FPE in a number of cases. However, previous studies have been limited to the Schr\"odinger potential with a discrete eigenvalue spectrum. Here, we will show how this approach can be also applied to a mixed eigenvalue spectrum with bounded and free states. We solve the FPE with boundaries located at x=\pm L/2 and take the limit L\rightarrow\infty, considering the examples with constant Schr\"{o}dinger potential and with P\"{o}schl-Teller potential. An oversimplified approach was proposed earlier by M.T. Araujo and E. Drigo Filho. A detailed investigation of the two examples shows that the correct solution, obtained in this paper, is consistent with the expected Fokker-Planck dynamics.
Extended symmetry analysis of remarkable (1+2)-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation

Abstract:We carry out the extended symmetry analysis of an ultraparabolic Fokker-Planck equation with three independent variables, which is also called the Kolmogorov equation and is singled out within the class of such Fokker-Planck equations by its remarkable symmetry properties. In particular, its essential Lie invariance algebra is eight-dimensional, which is the maximum dimension within the above class. We compute the complete point symmetry pseudogroup of the Fokker-Planck equation using the direct method, analyze its structure and single out its essential subgroup. After listing inequivalent one- and two-dimensional subalgebras of the essential and maximal Lie invariance algebras of this equation, we exhaustively classify its Lie reductions, carry out its peculiar generalized reductions and relate the latter reductions to generating solutions with iterative action of Lie-symmetry operators. As a result, we construct wide families of exact solutions of the Fokker-Planck equation, in particular, those parameterized by an arbitrary finite number of arbitrary solutions of the (1+1)-dimensional linear heat equation. We also establish the point similarity of the Fokker-Planck equation to the (1+2)-dimensional Kramers equations whose essential Lie invariance algebras are eight-dimensional, which allows us to find wide families of exact solutions of these Kramers equations in an easy way.

Spectral properties of Lévy Fokker--Planck equations

Abstract:Hermite polynomials, which are associated to a Gaussian weight and solve the Laplace equation with a drift term of linear growth, are classical in analysis and well-understood via ODE techniques. Our main contribution is to give explicit Euclidean formulae of the fractional analogue of Hermite polynomials, which appear as eigenfunctions of a Lévy Fokker-Planck equation. We will restrict, without loss of generality, to radially symmetric functions. A crucial tool in our analysis is the Mellin transform, which is essentially the Fourier transform in logarithmic variable and which turns weighted derivatives into multipliers. This allows to write the weighted space in the fractional case that replaces the usual $L_r^2(\mathbb R^n, e^{|x|^2/4})$. After proving compactness, we obtain a exhaustive description of the spectrum of the Lévy Fokker--Planck equation and its dual, the fractional Ornstein--Uhlenbeck problem, which forms a basis thanks to the spectral theorem for self-adjoint operators. As a corollary, we obtain a full asymptotic expansion for solutions of the fractional heat equation.

Generalized symmetries of remarkable (1+2)-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation

Abstract:Using an original method, we find the algebra of generalized symmetries of a remarkable (1+2)-dimensional ultraparabolic Fokker-Planck equation, which is also called the Kolmogorov equation and is singled out within the entire class of ultraparabolic linear second-order partial differential equations with three independent variables by its wonderful symmetry properties. It turns out that the essential part of this algebra is generated by the recursion operators associated with the nilradical of the essential Lie invariance algebra of the Kolmogorov equation, and the Casimir operator of the Levi factor of the latter algebra unexpectedly arises in the consideration.

Abstract:The Fokas–Lenells (FL) equation is an integrable higher-order extension of nonlinear Schrödinger equation. One approach to generating its breather solutions is based on Darboux transformation (DT) and iterations. However, the DT of FL equation contains negative powers of the spectral parameter, which can lead to very complicated expressions when N is large. In this paper, we avoid the negative powers by adopting a variable separation and Taylor expansion technique to solve the Lax pair of FL system. Furthermore, stability of the proposed technique is demonstrated in detail.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the construction of an \emph{eigen-solution} for the Fokker-Planck operator with heavy tail equilibrium. We propose an \textit{alternative} method in dimension 1, which will be generalizable in higher dimension. The later method is inspired by the work of H. Koch on non-linear KdV equation \cite{Koch}. As a consequence of this construction, we recover the result of G. Lebeau and M. Puel \cite{LebPu} on the fractional diffusion limit for the Fokker-Planck equation.

Quantum simulation of the Fokker-Planck equation via Schrodingerization

Abstract:This paper studies a quantum simulation technique for solving the Fokker-Planck equation. Traditional semi-discretization methods often fail to preserve the underlying Hamiltonian dynamics and may even modify the Hamiltonian structure, particularly when incorporating boundary conditions. We address this challenge by employing the Schrodingerization method-it converts any linear partial and ordinary differential equation with non-Hermitian dynamics into systems of Schrodinger-type equations. We explore the application in two distinct forms of the Fokker-Planck equation. For the conservation form, we show that the semi-discretization-based Schrodingerization is preferable, especially when dealing with non-periodic boundary conditions. Additionally, we analyze the Schrodingerization approach for unstable systems that possess positive eigenvalues in the real part of the coefficient matrix or differential operator. Our analysis reveals that the direct use of Schrodingerization has the same effect as a stabilization procedure. For the heat equation form, we propose a quantum simulation procedure based on the time-splitting technique. We discuss the relationship between operator splitting in the Schrodingerization method and its application directly to the original problem, illustrating how the Schrodingerization method accurately reproduces the time-splitting solutions at each step. Furthermore, we explore finite difference discretizations of the heat equation form using shift operators. Utilizing Fourier bases, we diagonalize the shift operators, enabling efficient simulation in the frequency space. Providing additional guidance on implementing the diagonal unitary operators, we conduct a comparative analysis between diagonalizations in the Bell and the Fourier bases, and show that the former generally exhibits greater efficiency than the latter.

This is nontrivial problem, because transformation of space coordinates induces transformation of velocities. We can use covariant, contravariant or physical velocity components as independent variables in curvilinear coordinate system. These 3 possibilities are considered in this paper and 3 kinds of Fokker - Planck equation in curvilinear coordinates are formulated.

Abstract:We address the well-posedness of subelliptic Fokker-Planck equations arising from stochastic control problems, as well as the properties of the associated diffusion processes. Here, the main difficulty arises from the possible polynomial growth of the coefficients, which is related to the growth of the family of vector fields generating the first layer of the associated Lie algebra. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the energy solution, and its representation as the transition density of the underlying subelliptic diffusion process. Moreover, we show its Holder continuity in time w.r.t.the Fortet-Mourier distance, where the Holder seminorm depends on the degree of homogeneity of the vector fields. Finally, we provide a probabilistic proof of the Feyman-Kac formula, as a consequence of the uniform boundedness in finite time intervals of all moments.

Abstract:Mathematical structure of the reflection coefficients for the one-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation is studied. A new formalism using differential operators is introduced and applied to the analysis in high- and low-energy regions. Formulas for high-energy and low-energy expansions are derived, and expressions for the coefficients of the expansion, as well as the remainder terms, are obtained for general forms of the potential. Conditions for the validity of these expansions are discussed on the basis of the analysis of the remainder terms.

Abstract:We study the following nonlinear Schrödinger system which is related to Bose–Einstein condensate: {[ -Δ u +λ _1 u = μ _1 u^2^*-1+β u^2^*/2-1v^2^*/2, x∈Ω ,; -Δ v +λ _2 v =μ _2 v^2^*-1+β v^2^*/2-1 u^2^*/2, x∈Ω ,; u≥ 0, v≥ 0 in Ω , u=v=0 on ∂Ω . ]. Here Ω⊂ℝ^N is a smooth bounded domain, 2^*:=2N/N-2 is the Sobolev critical exponent, -λ _1(Ω )<λ _1,λ _2<0 , μ _1,μ _2>0 and β 0 , where λ _1(Ω ) is the first eigenvalue of -Δ with the Dirichlet boundary condition. When β =0 , this is just the well-known Brezis–Nirenberg problem. The special case N=4 was studied by the authors in (Arch Ration Mech Anal 205:515–551, 2012 ). In this paper we consider the higher dimensional case N≥ 5 . It is interesting that we can prove the existence of a positive least energy solution (u_β , v_β ) for any β 0 (which can not hold in the special case N=4 ). We also study the limit behavior of (u_β , v_β ) as β→ -∞ and phase separation is expected. In particular, u_β -v_β will converge to sign-changing solutions of the Brezis–Nirenberg problem, provided N≥ 6 . In case λ _1=λ _2 , the classification of the least energy solutions is also studied. It turns out that some quite different phenomena appear comparing to the special case N=4 .

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly investigate a class of Kolmogorov-Fokker-Planck operator with 4 different scalings in nondivergence form. And we assume the coefficients $a^{ij}$ are only measurable in $t$ and satisfy the vanishing mean oscillation in space variables. We establish a global priori estimates of $\nabla_x^u$, $\dy u$ and $\dz u$ in $L^p$ space which extend the work of Dong and Yastrzhembskiy \cite{ref49} where they focus on the 3 different scalings KFP operator. Moreover we establish a kind of Poincare inequality for homogeneous equations.

Abstract:The Kolmogorov-Zakharov stationary states for weak wave turbulence involve solving a leading-order kinetic equation. Recent calculations of higher-order corrections to this kinetic equation using the Martin-Siggia-Rose path integral are reconsidered in terms of stationary states of a Fokker-Planck Hamiltonian. A non-perturbative relation closely related to the quantum mechanical Ehrenfest theorem is introduced and used to express the kinetic equation in terms of divergences of two-point expectation values in the limit of zero dissipation. Similar equations are associated to divergences in higher-order cumulants. It is additionally shown that the ordinary thermal equilibrium state is not actually a stationary state of the Fokker-Planck Hamiltonian, and a non-linear modification of dissipation is considered to remedy this.

A note on a Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equation with non-symmetric interaction

Abstract:In the recent [3], Cesbron and Herda study a Vlasov-Fokker-Planck (VFP) equation with non-symmetric interaction, introduced in physics to model the distribution of electrons in a synchrotron particle accelerator. We make four remarks in view of their work: first, it is noticed in [3] that the free energy classically considered for the (symmetric) VFP equation is not a Lyapunov function in the non-symmetric case, and we will show however that this is still the case for a suitable definition of the free energy (with no explicit expression in general). Second, when the interaction is sufficiently small (in $W^{1,\infty}$), it is proven in [3] that the equation has a unique stationary solution which is locally attractive; in this spirit, we will see that, when the interaction force is Lipschitz with a sufficiently small constant, the convergence is global. Third, we also briefly discuss the mean-field interacting particle system corresponding to the VFP equation which, interestingly, is a non-equilibrium Langevin process. Finally, we will see that, in the small interaction regime, a suitable (explicit) non-linear Fisher information is contracted at constant rate, similarly to the situation of Wasserstein gradient flows for convex functionals (although here the dynamics is not a gradient flow).

Abstract:We consider the relativistic, spatially inhomogeneous Fokker-Planck equation with an external confining potential. We prove the exponential time decay of solutions towards the global equilibrium in weighted $L^2$ and Sobolov spaces. Our result holds for a wide class of external potentials and the estimates on the rate of convergence are explicit and constructive. Moreover, we prove that the associated semigroup of the equation has hypoelliptic regularizing properties and we obtain explicit rates on this regularization. The technique is based on the construction of suitable Lyapunov functionals.

Under assumptions insuring suitable resolvent estimates, we prove Eyring-Kramers formulas for the bottom of the spectrum of these operators in the low temperature regime. Abstract:The fundamental quantum Coulomb problem in the momentum space is considered. A differential equation with SO(4) simmetry has been obtained in the momentum space instead of the integral Fock equation. The corresponding equation in the coordinate space is the sum of the squares of the angular momentum and the Runge-Lenz <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://operators.This" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> approach is unknown in the momentum space where the Runge-Lenz operator is not applied in the existing theory. The Runge-Lenz operator obtained in the momentum space is simplier than that in the coordinate space and allows one to effectively consider the Coulomb problem in the momentum space. A relation of new operator to the infinitesimal rotation operator of the three-dimensional the Fock sphere has been determined.

Abstract:An operatorial based approach is used here to prove the existence and uniqueness of a strong solution $u$ to the time-varying nonlinear Fokker--Planck equation $u_t(t,x)-\Delta(a(t,x,u(t,x))u(t,x))+{\rm div}(b(t,x,u(t,x))u(t,x))=0$ in $(0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}$ $u(0,x)=u_0(x),\ x\in\mathbb{R}^d$ in the Sobolev space $H^{-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)$, under appropriate conditions on the $a:[0,T]\times\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}$ and $b:[0,T]\times\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}^d.$ It is proved also that, if $u_0$ is a density of a probability measure, so is $u(t,\cdot)$ for all $t\ge0$.
