Abstract:In this paper we study equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on a $ K3 $ surface $ X $ under a symplectic action of a finite group. We prove that under some mild conditions, equivariant moduli spaces of sheaves on $ X $ are irreducible symplectic manifolds deformation equivalent to Hilbert schemes of points on $ X $ via a connection between Gieseker and Bridgeland moduli spaces, as well as the derived McKay correspondence.

Moreover, the coefficients of ZA,τ$$Z_{A, \tau }$$ are true (weighted) counts of rational curves, consistent with hyperelliptic counts of Bryan, Oberdieck, Pandharipande, and Yin.

Abstract:From the viewpoint of mirror symmetry, we revisit the hypergeometric system for a family of K3 surfaces. We construct a good resolution of the Baily-Borel-Satake compactification of its parameter space, which admits special boundary points (LCSLs) given by normal crossing divisors. We find local isomorphisms between the systems and the associated GKZ systems defined locally on the parameter space and cover the entire parameter space. Parallel structures are conjectured in general for hypergeometric system on Grassmannians. Local solutions and mirror symmetry will be described in a companion paper\cite {HLTYpartII}, where we introduce a K3 analogue of the elliptic lambda function in terms of genus two theta functions.

Abstract:We give an expository account of a conjecture, developed by Coates-Iritani-Tseng and Ruan, which relates the quantum cohomology of a Gorenstein orbifold X to the quantum cohomology of a crepant resolution Y of X. We explore some consequences of this conjecture, showing that it implies versions of both the Cohomological Crepant Resolution Conjecture and of the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan-Graber. We also give a 'quantized' version of the conjecture, which determines higher-genus Gromov-Witten invariants of X from those of Y.
Higher Genus Gromov-Witten Theory of C^n/Z_n II: Crepant Resolution Correspondence

Abstract:We study the structure of the higher genus Gromov-Witten theory of the total space $K\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ of the canonical bundle of the projective space $\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$. We prove the finite generation property for the Gromov-Witten potential of $K\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ by working out the details of its cohomological field theory (CohFT). More precisely, we prove that the Gromov-Witten potential of $K\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ lies in an explicit polynomial ring using the Givental-Teleman classification of the semisimple CohFTs. In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2301.08389" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.08389">arXiv:2301.08389</a>, we carried out a parallel study for $[\mathbb{C}^n/\mathbb{Z}_n]$ and proved that the Gromov-Witten potential of $[\mathbb{C}^n/\mathbb{Z}_n]$ lies in a similar polynomial ring. The main result of this paper is a crepant resolution correspondence for higher genus Gromov-Witten theories of $K\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ and $[\mathbb{C}^n/\mathbb{Z}_n]$, which is proved by establishing an isomorphism between the polynomial rings associated to $K\mathbb{P}^{n-1}$ and $[\mathbb{C}^n/\mathbb{Z}_n]$. This paper generalizes the works of Lho-Pandharipande <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1804.03168" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1804.03168">arXiv:1804.03168</a> for the case of $[\mathbb{C}^3/\mathbb{Z}_3]$ and Lho <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2211.15878" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.15878">arXiv:2211.15878</a> for the case $[\mathbb{C}^5/\mathbb{Z}_5]$ to arbitrary $n\geq 3$.

Hilbert schemes for crepant partial resolutions

Abstract:For $n\geq 1$, we construct the Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on any crepant partial resolution of a Kleinian singularity as a Nakajima quiver variety for an explicit GIT stability parameter. We provide both a short proof involving a combinatorial argument, in which the isomorphism is implicit, and a more satisfying geometric proof where the isomorphic is constructed explicitly. As a corollary, we compute the nef and movable cones of the Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on any crepant partial resolution of a Kleinian singularity in terms of the summands of a tilting bundle on the surface.

Abstract:We study the symplectic action of the group (Z/2Z)^2 on a K3 surface X: we describe its action on H^2(X,Z) and the maps induced in cohomology by the rational quotient maps; we give a lattice-theoretic characterization of the resolution of singularities of the quotient X/i, where i is any of the involutions in (Z/2Z)^2. Assuming X is projective, we describe the correspondence between irreducible components of its moduli space, and those of the resolution of singularities of its quotients: this being the first description of this correspondence for a non-cyclic action, we see new phenomena, of which we provide explicit examples assuming $X$ has a polarization of degree 4.

Correspondences acting on constant cycle curves on K3 surfaces

Abstract:Constant cycle curves on a K3 surface $X$ over $\mathbb{C}$ have been introduced by Huybrechts (2014) as curves whose points all define the same class in the Chow group. In this paper we study correspondences $Z \subseteq X\times X$ over $\mathbb{C}$ acting on the group $\mbox{ccc}(X)$ of cycles generated by irreducible constant cycle curves. We construct for any $n\geq 2$ and any very ample line bundle $L$ a locus $Z_n(L)\subseteq X\times X$ of expected dimension $2$, which yields a correspondence that acts on $\mbox{ccc}(X)$, when it has the expected dimension. We provide examples of $Z_n(L)$ for low $n$ and exhibit one correspondence different from $Z_n(L)$ acting on $\mbox{ccc}(X)$.

Holomorphic anomaly equations for the Hilbert scheme of points of a K3 surface

Abstract:We conjecture that the generating series of Gromov-Witten invariants of the Hilbert schemes of $n$ points on a K3 surface are quasi-Jacobi forms and satisfy a holomorphic anomaly equation. We prove the conjecture in genus $0$ and for at most $3$ markings - for all Hilbert schemes and for arbitrary curve classes. In particular, for fixed $n$, the reduced quantum cohomologies of all hyperkähler varieties of $K3^{[n]}$-type are determined up to finitely many coefficients. As an application we show that the generating series of $2$-point Gromov-Witten classes are vector-valued Jacobi forms of weight $-10$, and that the fiberwise Donaldson-Thomas partition functions of an order two CHL Calabi-Yau threefold are Jacobi forms.

Abstract:We study the virtual geometry of the moduli spaces of curves and sheaves on K3 surfaces in primitive classes. Equivalences relating the reduced Gromov-Witten invariants of K3 surfaces to characteristic numbers of stable pairs moduli spaces are proven. As a consequence, we prove the Katz-Klemm-Vafa conjecture evaluating $\lambda_g$ integrals (in all genera) in terms of explicit modular forms. Indeed, all K3 invariants in primitive classes are shown to be governed by modular forms. The method of proof is by degeneration to elliptically fibered rational surfaces. New formulas relating reduced virtual classes on K3 surfaces to standard virtual classes after degeneration are needed for both maps and sheaves. We also prove a Gromov-Witten/Pairs correspondence for toric 3-folds. Our approach uses a result of Kiem and Li to produce reduced classes. In Appendix A, we answer a number of questions about the relationship between the Kiem-Li approach, traditional virtual cycles, and symmetric obstruction theories. The interplay between the boundary geometry of the moduli spaces of curves, K3 surfaces, and modular forms is explored in Appendix B by A. Pixton.

Abstract:Given X , a K3 surface admitting a symplectic automorphism τ of order 4, we describe the isometry τ∗ on H2(X,Z) . Having called Z∼ and Y∼ , respectively, the minimal resolutions of the quotient surfaces Z=X/τ2 and Y=X/τ , we also describe the maps induced in cohomology by the rational quotient maps X→Z∼,X→Y∼ and Y∼→Z∼ : With this knowledge, we are able to give a lattice‐theoretic characterization of Z∼ , and find the relation between the Néron–Severi lattices of X,Z∼ and Y∼ in the projective case. We also produce three different projective models for X,Z∼ and Y∼ , each associated to a different polarization of degree 4 on X .

Abstract:Let $X\subset ¶^5$ be a smooth cubic fourfold. A well known conjecture asserts that $X$ is rational if and only if there an Hodge theoretically associated K3 surface $S$. The surface $S$ can be associated to $X$ in two other different ways. If there is an equivalence of categories $\sA_X \simeq D^b(S,\alpha)$ where $\sA_X$ is the Kuznetsov component of $D^b(X)$ and $\alpha$ is a Brauer class, or if there is an isomorphism between the transcendental motive $t(X)$ and the (twisted ) transcendental motive of a K3 surface$S$. In this note we consider families of cubic fourfolds with a finite group of automorphisms and describe the cases where there is an associated K3 surface in one of the above senses.

On the descendent Gromov-Witten theory of a K3 surface

Abstract:We study the reduced descendent Gromov-Witten theory of K3 surfaces in primitive curve classes. We present a conjectural closed formula for the stationary theory, which generalizes the Bryan-Leung formula. We also prove a new recursion that allows to remove descendent insertions of $1$ in many instances. Together this yields an efficient way to compute a large class of invariants (modulo the conjecture on the stationary part). As a corollary we conjecture a surprising polynomial structure which underlies the Gromov-Witten invariants of the K3 surface.

Abstract:Under natural hypotheses we give an upper bound on the dimension of families of singular curves with hyperelliptic normalizations on a surface S with p_g(S) >0 via the study of the associated families of rational curves in Hilb^2(S). We use this result to prove the existence of nodal curves of geometric genus 3 with hyperelliptic normalizations, on a general K3 surface, thus obtaining specific 2-dimensional families of rational curves in its Hilbert square. We describe two infinite series of examples of general, primitively polarized K3's such that their Hilbert squares contain a IP^2 or a threefold birational to a IP^1-bundle over a K3. We discuss some consequences on the Mori cone of the Hilbert square of a general K3.

Abstract:We continue our study on the hypergeometric system which describes period integrals of the double cover family of K3 surfaces. Near certain special boundary points in the moduli space of the K3 surfaces, we construct the local solutions and determine the so-called mirror maps expressing them in terms of genus two theta functions. These mirror maps are the K3 analogues of the elliptic -function. We find that there are two non-isomorphic definitions of the lambda functions corresponding to a flip in the moduli space. We also discuss mirror symmetry for the double cover K3 surfaces and their higher dimensional generalizations. A follow up paper will describe more details of the latter.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that, for any $n\ge 3$, there exist infinitely many $r\in \N$ and for each of them a smooth, connected curve $C_r$ in $¶^r$ such that $C_r$ lies on exactly $n$ irreducible components of the Hilbert scheme $\hilb(¶^r)$. This is proven by reducing the problem to an analogous statement for the moduli of surfaces of general type.

Abstract:We prove that any hyper-Kähler sixfold of generalized Kummer type has a naturally associated manifold of type. It is obtained as crepant resolution of the quotient of by a group of symplectic involutions acting trivially on its second cohomology. When is projective, the variety is birational to a moduli space of stable sheaves on a uniquely determined projective surface . As an application of this construction we show that the Kuga–Satake correspondence is algebraic for the K3 surfaces , producing infinitely many new families of surfaces of general Picard rank satisfying the Kuga–Satake Hodge conjecture.
