Abstract:In this paper, we propose applying Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technology in a multiuser beam steering OWC system. We study the performance of the NOMA-based multiuser beam steering system in terms of the achievable rate and Bit Error Rate (BER). We investigate the impact of the power allocation factor of NOMA and the number of users in the room. The results show that the power allocation factor is a vital parameter in NOMA-based transmission that affects the performance of the network in terms of data rate and BER.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper attempts to address the issue of how to achieve efficient data transmission and reduce bit error rate (BER) in multi-user optical wireless communication (OWC) systems using non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technology. Specifically, the paper investigates the performance of applying NOMA technology in multi-user beam steering OWC systems, including data rate and BER, and explores the impact of NOMA's power allocation factor and the number of users in the room on system performance. ### Main Issues: 1. **Multi-user connection demand**: Most current research on beam steering OWC systems focuses on single-user scenarios, neglecting the need for multi-user connections. The paper proposes a multi-user beam steering OWC system based on NOMA technology to meet the demand for multi-user connections. 2. **Performance optimization**: Investigate the performance of NOMA technology in multi-user beam steering OWC systems, particularly in terms of data rate and BER. 3. **Impact of power allocation factor**: Explore the impact of the power allocation factor in NOMA systems on network performance, including changes in data rate and BER. ### Research Methods: - **System model**: The paper proposes a multi-user beam steering OWC system model based on NOMA, where multiple access points (APs) are installed on the ceiling and connected to a central unit via optical fiber. The central unit is responsible for resource management and fair distribution. - **Simulation environment**: Use a simulation environment based on a ray-tracing algorithm to evaluate system performance, considering the performance of the system under different user numbers and power allocation factors. - **Performance metrics**: Focus on the system's data rate and BER, and analyze the changes in these metrics with power allocation factors and the number of users through simulation results. ### Conclusion: - **Impact of power allocation factor**: Simulation results show that as the power allocation factor increases, the total data rate of the system decreases, and the BER fluctuates within a certain range. When the power allocation factor is 0.4, a higher data rate and lower BER can be achieved. - **Multi-user performance**: As the number of users increases, the total data rate of the system increases, but the change in BER depends on the choice of the power allocation factor. Through this research, the paper provides important references for the design and optimization of multi-user beam steering OWC systems.
