Abstract:We consider continuous maps of the interval which preserve the Lebesgue measure. Except for the identity map or $1 - \id$ all such maps have topological entropy at least $\log2/2$ and generically they have infinite topological entropy. In this article we show that thegeneric map has zero measure-theoretic entropy. This implies that there are dramatic differences in the topological versus metric behavior both for injectivity as well as for the structure of thelevel sets of generic maps.

Abstract:We prove that for any given modulus of continuity there exist (uncountably many) uniformly expanding maps of the circle whose derivatives have as an optimal modulus of continuity and which preserve an invariant probability measure equivalent to Lebesgue whose density is -continuous, and also (uncountably many) uniformly expanding maps of the circle whose derivatives have as an optimal modulus of continuity which preserve Lebesgue measure. Moreover, we show that many of these maps, including those which preserve Lebesgue measure, have unbounded distortion.

On the Measure-Preserving Mappings with Three-Dimensions

Abstract:AbstractWe have systematically made the numerical exploration about the perturbation extension of area-preserving mappings to three-dimensional ones, in which the fixed points of area preserving are elliptic, parabolic or hyperbolic respectively. It has been observed that: (i) the invariant manifolds in the vicinity of the fixed point generally don’t exist (ii) when the invariant curve of original two-dimensional mapping exists the invariant tubes do also in the neighbourhood of the invariant curve (iii) for the perturbation extension of area-preserving mapping the invariant manifolds can only be generated in the subset of the invariant manifolds of original two-dimensional mapping, (iv) for the perturbation extension of area preserving mappings with hyperbolic or parabolic fixed point the ordered region near and far from the invariant curve will be destroyed by perturbation more easily than the other one, This is a result different from the case with the elliptic fixed point. In the latter the ordered region near invariant curve is solid. Some of the results have been demonstrated exactly.Finally we have discussed the Kolmogorov Entropy of the mappings and studied some applications.

Abstract:Abstract The aim of this survey is to present the main important techniques and tools from variational analysis used for first and second order dynamical systems of implicit type for solving monotone inclusions and non-smooth optimization problems. The differential equations are expressed by means of the resolvent (in case of a maximally monotone set valued operator) or the proximal operator for non-smooth functions. The asymptotic analysis of the trajectories generated relies on Lyapunov theory, where the appropriate energy functional plays a decisive role. While the most part of the paper is related to monotone inclusions and convex optimization problems in the variational case, we present also results for dynamical systems for solving non-convex optimization problems, where the Kurdyka-Łojasiewicz property is used.

Abstract:We establish the existence of Lebesgue-equivalent conservative and ergodic σ -finite invariant measures for a wide class of one-dimensional random maps consisting of piecewise convex maps. We also estimate the size of invariant measures around a small neighbourhood of a fixed point where the invariant density functions may diverge. Application covers random intermittent maps with critical points or flat points. We also illustrate that the size of invariant measures tends to infinite for random maps whose right branches exhibit a strongly contracting property on average, so that they have a strong recurrence to a fixed point.

Abstract:We study geometrically finite one-dimensional mappings. These are a subspace of $C^{1+\alpha}$ one-dimensional mappings with finitely many, critically finite critical points. We study some geometric properties of a mapping in this subspace. We prove that this subspace is closed under quasisymmetrical conjugacy. We also prove that if two mappings in this subspace are topologically conjugate, they are then quasisymmetrically conjugate. We show some examples of geometrically finite one-dimensional mappings.

Abstract:We study the mappings satisfying the so-called inverse Poletsky inequality. We consider mappings of the domains with quasiextreme distance, domains with locally quasiconformal boundary, and domains regular (in a sense of prime ends) onto the domains with locally quasiconformal boundary, regular domains, or domains that are locally Hölder equivalent to a half ball on their boundary. For these mappings, we prove their Hölder logarithmic continuity in a neighborhood of points of the boundary.

Abstract:Completely positive trace preserving maps are widely used in quantum information theory. These are mostly studied using the master equation perspective. A central part in this theory is to study whether a given system of dynamical maps $\{\Lambda_t: t \ge 0\}$ is Markovian or non-Markovian. We study the problem when the underlying Hilbert space is of infinite dimensional. We construct a sufficient condition for checking P (resp. CP) divisibility of dynamical maps. We construct several examples where the underlying Hilbert space may not be of finite dimensional. We also give a special emphasis on Gaussian dynamical maps and get a version of our result in it.

Abstract:We study a class of one-dimensional full branch maps introduced in Coates et al. (Commun Math Phys 402(2):1845–1878, 2023), admitting two indifferent fixed points as well as critical points and/or singularities with unbounded derivative. We show that can be partitioned into 3 pairwise disjoint subfamilies such that all have a unique physical measure equivalent to Lebesgue, all have a physical measure which is a Dirac- measure on one of the (repelling) fixed points, and all are non-statistical and in particular have no physical measure. Moreover we show that these subfamilies are intermingled : they can all be approximated by maps in the other subfamilies in natural topologies.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a subset of a Hilbert space. We prove that if is such that for all and all non‐negative that add up to one, then for any 1‐Lipschitz , with , there exists a 1‐Lipschitz extension of such that the uniform distance on between and is the same as the uniform distance on between and . Moreover, if either or is convex, we prove the converse: We show that a map that allows for a 1‐Lipschitz, uniform distance preserving extension of any 1‐Lipschitz map on a subset of also satisfies the above set of inequalities. We also prove a similar continuity result concerning extensions of monotone maps. Our results hold true also for maps taking values in infinite‐dimensional spaces.

Quantitative Estimates on Invariant Manifolds for Surface Diffeomorphisms

Abstract:We carry out a detailed quantitative analysis on the geometry of invariant manifolds for smooth dissipative systems in dimension two. We begin by quantifying the regularity of any orbit (finite or infinite) in the phase space with a set of explicit inequalities. Then we relate this directly to the quasi-linearization of the local dynamics on regular neighborhoods of this orbit. The parameters of regularity explicitly determine the sizes of the regular neighborhoods and the smooth norms of the corresponding regular charts. As a corollary, we establish the existence of smooth stable and center manifolds with uniformly bounded geometries for regular orbits independently of any pre-existing invariant measure. This provides us with the technical background for the renormalization theory of Hénon-like maps developed in the sequel papers.

Abstract: Harmonic maps are nonlinear extensions of harmonic functions. They are critical points of natural energy functionals between Riemannian manifolds. Such type of problems appear in Physics, Geometry of Finance and the study of regularity and singularity uses methods from elliptic PDE, calculus of variations and geometric measure theory. In this paper, we present a general review of harmonic maps. It is a survey that aims to cover the main classical known results regarding the harmonic maps. We present results for the regularity, blow-ups and rectifiability for local minimizers, stationary harmonic maps and weakly harmonic maps.

Abstract:For $p\in [1,\infty]$, we define a smooth manifold structure on the set of absolutely continuous functions $\gamma\colon [a,b]\to N$ with $L^p$-derivatives for each smooth manifold $N$ modeled on a sequentially complete locally convex topological vector space which admits a local addition. Smoothness of natural mappings between spaces of absolutely continuous functions is discussed. For $1\leq p <\infty$ and $r\in \mathbb{N}$ we show that the right half-Lie groups $\text{Diff}_K^r(\mathbb{R})$ and $\text{Diff}^r(M)$ are $L^p$-semiregular. Here $K$ is a compact subset of $\mathbb{R}^n$ and $M$ is a compact smooth manifold. For the preceding examples, the evolution map $\text{Evol}$ is continuous.

Natural measures and statistical properties of non-statistical maps with multiple neutral fixed points

Abstract:In this article we show that a large class of infinite measure preserving dynamical systems that do not admit physical measures nevertheless exhibit strong statistical properties. In particular, we give sufficient conditions for existence of a distinguished natural measure $\nu$ such that the pushforwards of any absolutely continuous probability measure converge to $\nu$. Moreover, we obtain a distributional limit law for empirical measures. We also extend existing results on the characterisation of the set of almost sure limit points for empirical measures. Our results apply to various intermittent maps with multiple neutral fixed points preserving an infinite $\sigma$-finite absolutely continuous measure.

Abstract:Consider piecewise linear Lorenz maps on $[0, 1]$ of the following form \[ f_{a,b,c}(x)= {ll} ax+1-ac & x \in [0, c) b(x-c) & x \in (c, 1].\] We prove that $f_{a,b,c}$ admits an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure (acim) $\mu$ with respect to the Lebesgue measure if and only if $f_{a,b,c}(0) \le f_{a,b,c}(1)$, i.e. $ac+(1-c)b \ge 1$. The acim is unique and ergodic unless $f_{a,b,c}$ is conjugate to a rational rotation. The equivalence between the acim and the Lebesgue measure is also fully investigated via the renormalization theory.

Existence and Stability of Periodic Orbits in $N$-Dimensional Piecewise Linear Continuous Maps

Abstract:Piecewise smooth maps are known to exhibit a wide range of dynamical features including numerous types of periodic orbits. Predicting regions in parameter space where such periodic orbits might occur and determining their stability is crucial to characterize the dynamics of the system. However, obtaining the conditions of existence and stability of these periodic orbits generally use brute force methods which require successive application of the iterative map on a starting point. In this article, we propose a faster and more elegant way of obtaining those conditions without iterating the complete map. The method revolves around direct computation of higher powers of matrices without computing the lower ones and is applicable on any dimension of the phase space. In the later part of the article, we compare the speed of the proposed method with the other popular algorithms which shows the effectiveness of the proposed method in higher dimensions. We also illustrate the use of this method in computing the regions of existence and stability of a particular class of periodic orbits in three dimensions.

Abstract:The classes of -smooth domains bounded by a contour that is Lyapunov outside any neighborhood of its certain point such that the derivative of a conformal mapping onto the unit disk is continuous at this point are described. The description is given in terms of some spaces for a unit tangent vector on the boundary contour. Corresponding results for piecewise smooth domains are obtained as a consequence.
